HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: The smoke-filled skies in Southern California could affect flight plans you have this morning. As we have been telling you, it hasn't been this bad there in 10 years. So we want to go ahead and get a check with our 'Eye on the Sky.' Air Traffic Expert Rally Caparas from Travelocity Business is on the phone.
Rally, what are we going to see as people try to fly in and around the country today? There's this domino effect that we talk about quite a bit and it's going to be happening because of the fires.

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Good morning, Heidi.

Exactly right, it's not so much the smoke as it is the Southern California TRACON, which is based on Miramar Naval Air Station in Southern California, just outside of San Diego. They have evacuated that facility and they have moved the operations two miles north to the Los Angeles -- the Los Angeles center, which is a high altitude radar control facility. And because of that move, they are limited with the ability to handle the volume of traffic that is going to be flying through that airspace.

And that means that there are going to be major delays, as you would expect, into and out of all of the airports in the Los Angeles basin in Southern California. Those airports include Los Angeles International, Burbank, San Diego. We can add the John Wayne Orange County Airport and a couple of other regional airports. You'll see a minimum of one to two-hour arrival and departure delays, if your flight does not get cancelled. So check with your airlines online before you go the airport to find out if your flight has been affected.

Now to the East Coast, Boston, New York City Metros and the Philadelphia airports will all see 45 to 60-minute arrival and departure delays today. Lots of low clouds and rain, as Chad has been showing you on the radar. En route thunderstorms will pop up occasionally limiting flight routes into and out of those major airports; hence, you will have those lengthier delays.

The D.C. Metros and Charlotte, you can expect 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays, low clouds and rain. And they, too, will see an isolated thunderstorm or two. But the lesser volume at those airports will help keep those delays down.

And then finally Atlanta Hartsfield, we'll see 30 to 45-minute arrival delays this morning. Low clouds, fog, poor visibility, but we'll see improved conditions by mid-afternoon for on-time schedules during the evening rush.

I'll be back tomorrow morning with the latest 'Eye on the Sky.' Heidi, back to you.

COLLINS: Hopefully it will be a little bit better tomorrow. Take a bus maybe today.

CAPARAS: I hear you.

COLLINS: All right, thanks so much, Rally Caparas.
