HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Testimony is under way for a second week in the trial of sniper suspect John Allen Muhammad. Today's proceeding is expected to be dramatic as last week's. And CNN's Patty Davis is covering the trial from Virginia Beach. She joins us now with an update.
Hello, Patty.
PATTY DAVIS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Heidi, yes, more drama. In fact, this morning, two eye witnesses have positively identified sniper suspect Lee Boyd Malvo as the man they saw running away from a killing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in September.
Now, both say Malvo had the slain woman's purse in his hand. One woman says that she actually saw a gun in Malvo's hand. Now killed was Hong Im Ballenger. She was a manager of a beauty supply shop in Baton Rouge.
One witness says that she saw Malvo run through a park, and he was picked up by a person in a dark blue Chevy Caprice. Now, she couldn't make out who that person was, but she could see a silhouette of him in the car. John Muhammad and Malvo were arrested in a dark blue Chevy Caprice in October in Maryland, after a string of sniper shootings.
Now, this week, we do expect the prosecution to move on to that string of D.C.-area sniper shootings, and we expect them to get to that, bring in testimony, bring in family members, and show more graphic photos of the crime scenes that have caused so much problem here on the part of the defense trying to get those not included. But the judge has allowed them in.
Just a little aside today. This things started a little bit late, about 11:00 this morning. And the judge said that is because his wife was being admitted to the Virginia bar. He had to go to her ceremony, so that is why things started a little bit late today -- Heidi.
COLLINS: All right. Patty Davis, thanks so much for the update on that.
