CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Ooh, scary, Halloween is just two days away and if you plan on raiding your kids' trick or treat bag, we've got some candy tips for you.
Nutritionist Lisa Drayer of Dietwatch.com has the sweet low down live from New York.

I just wanted to watch that kid get the candy.

So you say some candy is actually OK?

LISA DRAYER, NUTRITIONIST: Well, some do less damage than others. I do have some best picks. The first is the York Peppermint Pattie. This is 170 calories, three grams of fat. Carol, this one actually qualifies as a low fat food. It also has two grams of saturated fat so not so bad.

Also, the Milky Way Lite has 170 calories and five grams of fat. That's 100 fewer calories and half the fat as compared to the regular Milky Way. So choose the Lite over the regular.

Also, Planter's Peanut Bar is an excellent choice. It's a little bit high, 230 calories and 14 grams of fat. But only one and a half grams of saturated fat. That's that bad fat for the heart. It's a really good source of the monounsaturated fats, the fats that are protective because of all of those peanuts.

And, no really, it's a good one.

COSTELLO: This is the most boring candy on the planet, Lisa.

DRAYER: I know. But, you know what, it is good.

COSTELLO: Like a York Peppermint Pattie? Would you wish for that in your Halloween bag?

DRAYER: You know, I love the York Peppermint Patties. But also the Jelly Bellies are a good choice. They're only four calories each. But the key, Carol, is to watch portions. If you have this whole bag...

COSTELLO: Yes?

DRAYER: ... you're consuming 700 calories. So just watch those portions with the jelly beans.

COSTELLO: Yes, they stick to your teeth, too, which is not attractive.

Tell us about the really good candy, the bad candy. What's your worst pick?

DRAYER: Oh, well, if I had to pick a worst pick, that would be the Almond Joy. That one has 220 calories, 12 grams of fat and eight grams of saturated fat. That's the same amount of saturated fat that you would get in a McDonald's Quarter Pounder.

COSTELLO: Wow!

DRAYER: And the Mounds is even worse. It has two more grams. It has more than what you would get in that Quarter Pounder. That's -- it has 10 grams of saturated fat. That's half of your daily limit for most people. And, also, watch out for those Nestle Toll House candy bars. Have you heard of these?

COSTELLO: Oh, I love those. OK.

DRAYER: It's actually cookie dough in chocolate and brownie in chocolate. It's indulge city, 130 calories each, but limit yourself to one because -- and the size is very small, but the calories can add up if you keep eating them one after the other.

COSTELLO: All right, we'll try to take your advice and eat a lot of York Peppermint Patties. Boo.

Thank you, Lisa Drayer.

DRAYER: Thanks.
