CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Britain's royal family is quite interested in some video tapes of Princess Diana -- actually, they're audio tapes, aren't they, David?
DAVID CLINCH, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL EDITOR: Well, video and audio tapes.

COSTELLO: Oh.

CLINCH: And what we're getting here is a brewing -- another brewing royal scandal.

Here's the story. Princess Diana is getting voice coaching from a voice coach back in the early '90s for practicing public speaking. He chooses to video her practicing this. And apparently, as she is practicing, reportedly, she reveals all kinds of juice details about her crumbling marriage with Prince Charles and very scandalous details. But we don't know what those details are.

COSTELLO: So, while she's practicing elocution, she's talking about her marriage...

CLINCH: That's what we hear.

COSTELLO: ... and then Prince Charles and...

CLINCH: That's what we hear. And today, in a court in London, the voice coach is going to court suing the police who have these tapes. These tapes, video and audio tapes, were apparently found in Paul Burrell's apartment -- you know, the former butler.

COSTELLO: The butler.

CLINCH: The police have them. They've never been used in evidence anywhere. And now he's saying -- well, the voice coach is saying, well, if you're not going to use them, I want them back. They're mine. Well, the royal family, and in particular Princess Diana's family, the Spencers, don't want that to happen, and they are trying to persuade the police not to hand them over. Some very interesting legal questions.

Very quickly, also separately, two British papers are being sued by a royal aide, because they want to publish a story about this royal aide. We don't know what the story is, but, again, scandal. And this royal aide has put an injunction in against "The Guardian" and the "Mail on Sunday," preventing them from publishing this scandalous story.

We don't know if those two are related, but we're watching very closely to see what comes out...

COSTELLO: This just goes on and on.

CLINCH: Yes.

COSTELLO: I mean, we all hear about the royal family and how many British people don't want a royal family anymore. Might this really topple them?

CLINCH: Well,

it's certainly going to be a big scandal if the details that we're hearing on the rumor mill really come out.

COSTELLO: They're bad.

CLINCH: But, of course, the rumors have been there for years, and it hasn't come out yet. And it may still never come out. We won't know.

COSTELLO: All right, David Clinch, I'm sure you'll keep us posted.

CLINCH: I will.
