HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: In Iraq, U.S. forces have arrested three suspected Iraqi insurgents in raids north of Baghdad.
For the very latest on the security situation, we go live to our Matthew Chance in Baghdad -- Matthew, hello.

MATTHEW CHANCE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Thank you, Heidi.

And U.S. forces moving to crack down as much as they can on the people behind these incessant attacks against U.S. forces on the ground in the northwestern town of Baquba, northwest of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, that is.

About three people, or three people were arrested by U.S. forces in three separate raids. They've been described separately as a suspected bomb maker, a suspected rebel commander and another individual suspected of carrying out attacks against U.S. forces in that area of the Sunni Triangle. Quite dramatic nighttime vision we have there of that raid taking place, again, in the town of Baquba.

Another similar raid taking place the day before in the flash point town of Falluja, where U.S. forces say two former Iraqi Army generals were taken into custody. They've not been named. The exact significance of the arrests has not been explained either by the coalition forces. But coalition authorities say they're searching for leading figures in this growing insurgency -- Heidi.

COLLINS: And, Matthew, we've already mentioned a memorial svc that will take place later today for that helicopter crash on Sunday. What more do we know at this point?

CHANCE: Well, that memorial service will take place somewhere in the western desert, to the west of the Iraqi capital at the, one of the camps of the 3rd Armored Calvary. They'll be holding a memorial service for the 15 U.S. soldiers who were killed when their Chinook helicopter was blasted out of the skies near the town of Falluja, where those arrests were made.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said it was a surface to air missile that caused that damage, caused the chopper to crash. An investigation into the incident is still continuing -- Heidi.

COLLINS: All right, very good.

Matthew Chance live from Baghdad this morning.

Matthew, thanks so much.
