HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: The violence in Iraq and bombings Turkey have overshadowed Mr. Bush's trip to Britain. But on this, the final day of Mr. Bush's trip, he was able to get away from at least some of the pressure and the protests with a trip to the English countryside.
CNN's John King is in Darlington, England now near where Mr. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair have spent the last few hours of the president's trip. John, hello to you.

JOHN KING, CNN SENIOR WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT: Hello to you, Heidi. A quick four-hour visit to Northern England by the president. But this a chance for Prime Minister Blair to have Mr. Bush in his home district to return the hospitality we have seen Mr. Bush give to Mr. Blair when he has come to the United States whether it be in Camp David or at the Bush ranch in Texas. Mr. Bush and Laura Bush enjoying a pub lunch here in Mr. Blair's home district, in the town of Segefield.

As we show you pictures of the in-scene, we should also say Mr. Bush did place a phone call to the Turkish prime minister and a short time ago told reporters a bit about that phone call. The president saying he promised any aid and assistance to Turkey in the wake of the bombings in Istanbul. And asked just what kind of aid that might be, the president said, in his view, the best way to defeat al Qaeda and other terrorist groups was for nations to end the war on terrorism to share intelligence.

So Mr. Bush keeping track of terrorism even though as he enjoys a social visit here to Tony Blair's home district. The prime minister, of course, facing a great deal of political heat here at home for standing so close to Mr. Bush, especially when it comes to the war in Iraq.

But the prime minister showing no hesitation of bringing Mr. Bush here after their consultations in London, as well. This the final stop four days almost for the president. Most of it an official state visit here.

And in that conversation with reporters a short time ago, Mr. Bush saying the prime minister and her majesty the queen were fabulous hosts, and he views this a fabulous trip -- Heidi.

COLLINS: All right, John King. Thanks so much for that.
