CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Speaking of holiday travel, the airports are already busy this morning.
Travelocity's air traffic expert, Rally Caparas, is here to tell us about possible delays.

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC EXPERT, TRAVELOCITY: Probable delays. Probable delays.

Folks, despite what you've been hearing about the excellent flight conditions and the perfect weather all up and down the coast on the East Coast to the West Coast, there will still be some delays, and it will be related to the heavy volume of 4.6 million people getting out to the airports. Most of your delays, however, will be getting to and through those airports. They're saying give yourself three hours. You'll need every bit of it at some of these locations.

But today, as far as the weather and flight schedules are concerned, from Boston all the way down to Miami you're going to see excellent flight conditions -- as Chad's been telling you -- all day. It's the best that I've seen when it comes to a busy travel day like today in 15 years as an air traffic controller.

On-time schedules should be the case, but during peak demand hours between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and then again between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in your local time zones, you will see some volume- related delays -- compacted demand is what they call it -- because everyone is going to get there a little bit early and have to wait for gates for evacuate by other airplanes and that type of thing.

Here's where you'll see the delays: New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago O'Hare, Atlanta and LAX. You can count on 45-minute arrival and departure delays to be a problem when we hit those peak periods.

Denver and Salt Lake City -- well, let's go to Houston first. Houston is George Bush down on the Gulf Coast of Texas. You can expect delay-free conditions until late this afternoon and evening. Then, you'll see some thunderstorm activity limit routes into and out of that airport. That means 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays there.

Denver and Salt Lake, as Chad told you, freezing temperatures, some frost. There will be some departure flight de-icing. There's a little bit of snow in Salt Lake. You can expect 30 to 45-minute departure delays at those locations as a result.

And then, finally, Seattle and Tacoma on the West Coast, they're going to suffer 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays all day long, low clouds, fog, rain, windy.

But the rest of the country, as I said before, you can't draw it any better than this. It's one of the most beautiful days for air travel that I've seen regardless of the fact that it's a holiday.

COSTELLO: Yes, that's pretty awesome.

CAPARAS: I'll be back.

COSTELLO: Rally, many thanks. You're going to be around all days, aren't you?

CAPARAS: All day long.

COSTELLO: Well, we appreciate it. We do.

CAPARAS: Sure.
