CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: If you were with us yesterday, you may have seen these live pictures of a Concorde jet being ferried to its final resting spot in New York Harbor.
Our Jeanne Moos was there when it finally arrived.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a ship? It's the Concorde.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It's also the sexiest machine I've ever seen.

MOOS: From JFK Airport, the Concorde barged into New York Harbor, under the Verrazzano Bridge, past the Statue of Liberty, pushed by three tugboats, literally shadowed by helicopters. Our thoughts may be turning to turkey. Yes, wild turkeys can fly. But this commercial turkey has been forever grounded. This one ended up at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. It'll be moored across the pier from the aircraft carrier Intrepid.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: But it may surprise people to know that actually there isn't a set of keys to Concorde.

MOOS: So British Airways handed over the Concorde's maintenance log instead.

Members of the crew that transported the Concorde got to go inside it.

FLOYD VAN NAME, CONSTRUCTION MANAGER, MVM COMPANY: It's made to go fast. It's kind of like a no frills. But it's this pipe that goes fast through the sky.

MOOS: Passengers used to pay over $6,000 to fly Concorde transatlantic. Come spring, museum goers will step aboard for 14 bucks.

VAN NAME: I sat in the pilot's seat and I drove it for a little while.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And the queen's seat. Seat 1A you sat in.

MOOS: The first row, where royalty sat.

(on camera): Did it have any queenly things?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No.

VAN NAME: You know, I rubbed my tushie in it and nothing really happened.

MOOS: From soaring supersonic speedster to floating sitting duck.

Jeanne Moos, CNN, New York.
