CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: It is the day after Thanksgiving. And armies of shoppers are sounding their battle cry, "Charge!" descending on stores with plastic in one hand and wish lists in the others.
And CNN's Kris Osborn is strolling Michigan Avenue in Chicago's Magnificent Mile with a savvy shopper leading the way -- Kris..

KRIS OSBORN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: That's right. Hello to you, Catherine.

Well, if you're one of those people who does a lot of last-minute shopping -- or some have even bought all their Christmas presents 11:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, you want to change that, you might want to listen to Deborah Flattery. She is right here, a savvy shopper who shops for living, something of an expert, you might say.

Thanks so much for your time this morning.

DEB FLATTERY, WESTFIELD CORP.: Well, good morning. Welcome to Westfield

(CROSSTALK)

OSBORN: Let me ask you this. So many stores, so little time, where do you go?

FLATTERY: Well, you know what? We do have one more day this year. And the thing is that -- but it's still short. Thanksgiving came late, so we are on the 50-yard line right now. And we have to make sure that we keep all of our ducks in a row and get this moving quickly.

As you can see here, we're going to go out on to the beautiful North Michigan Avenue. And you can see, it's a beautiful day for shopping. And everyone is shopping today. And, as you can see, it's early now, but the people are out shopping. The best line of defense, shop early. I guarantee you, if you shop anywhere on a Saturday at 3:00, it's going to be jammed. But you want to shop early. Take the day off. Start early. Have a nice cup of coffee.

I'd like to say make a list, but if you're not a list-maker, it's too late now. Those people who made lists, like you said before, are already home with their feet up watching the football games today. What we want to do is, we want to think about the perfect gift. Well, I think affordable luxury. Affordable luxury is cashmere, cashmere, whether or not in a topcoat or in a sweater from Ann Taylor Loft or gloves or some mittens from Benetton.

This is something that says you really, really appreciate and respect the person you're giving it to. And it comes in all the different price points.

OSBORN: Well, very sage advice from a very savvy shopper. We even have a little seasonal snow. Thank you very much.

FLATTERY: Oh, it's a great thing. Merry Christmas.

OSBORN: Deborah Flattery, professional shopper. Need I say more?

Back to you, Catherine.

CALLAWAY: All right, Kris, thank you. Good luck out there.
