CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Even bah humbuggers like to see holiday displays this time of year. But just wait until you see what Darryl did in Louisville.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(BEGIN AUDIO FROM BURL IVES' SONG)

BURL IVES: Have a holly jolly Christmas.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED CHILD: It's very cool.

(BEGIN AUDIO FROM BURL IVES' SONG)

BURL IVES: It's the best time of the year.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Gee, whiz.

(BEGIN AUDIO FROM BURL IVES' SONG)

IVES: I don't know if there'll be snow...

(END AUDIO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It's fabulous.

(BEGIN AUDIO FROM BURL IVES' SONG)

IVES: But have a cup of cheer.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

ERIC FLACK, WAVE CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): More than lights...

UNIDENTIFIED CHILD: A house that dances to the music.

(BEGIN AUDIO FROM BURL IVES' SONG)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Walking in a winter wonderland.

(END AUDIO CLIP) FLACK: More like a pageant.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The beat of the music is what the lights go by.

FLACK: Darryl Brown's place...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: People call it Disneyworld.

FLACK: ... is one of a kind.

DARRYL BROWN, HOMEOWNER: And when I describe it to people, it's just too hard. They just don't -- it just doesn't seem to count.

FLACK: He's been setting up since Halloween.

BROWN: I think a lot of people thought I was crazy.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: More went up and more went up.

FLACK: Neighbors thought he was getting carried away.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We thought well he's, you know, he's really gone way over with this.

FLACK: Now, they can't get enough.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I live up the street. I stop by here every night.

FLACK: Forty-five thousand bulbs.

BROWN: The big tree has 12,700 lights.

FLACK: More than 100 hours spent synchronizing the lights to the music on a computer.

BROWN: This is the software. It's called Animation Director.

(BEGIN AUDIO FROM BURL IVES' SONG)

UNIDENTIFIED SINGERS: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) you'd better make sure you've got it all.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

BROWN: It runs all the light controllers out there.

FLACK: You can hear it all on Darryl's low watt radio channel.

(BEGIN AUDIO FROM BURL IVES' SONG) BEACH BOYS: There's the tale about Christmas that you've all been told.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He's got to be a genius. BROWN: Which I'm not.

FLACK: So, how much practice did Darryl need to put together all of this?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Twenty years.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: He had to be at this for 10 or 15 years.

BROWN: On my Christmas tree, that's about it.

UNIDENTIFIED CHILD: Five years.

BROWN: This is the first year ever to do a display.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh, my goodness.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I thought I was doing good with the little bit of lights I've got up over the past 12 years.

FLACK: A creation of imagination...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It's the darndest thing I have ever seen.

FLACK: Dedication...

BROWN: If I could have had more time, I would have done more.

FLACK: And a promise -- just wait until next year.

BROWN: Next year, I want to have a talking tree.
