CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: The man accused of kidnapping a college student in North Dakota is being held on $5 million bail, and apparently that's the way he wants it.
CNN's Jeff Flock explains.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JEFF FLOCK, CNN CHICAGO BUREAU CHIEF: There may be more searching today, but no more court action is expected in the disappearance of Dru Sjodin. Alfonso Rodriguez, Jr. went to court on Thursday, making his initial appearance and hearing the charge against him read -- specifically, that he kidnapped Sjodin at a Grand Forks shopping mall on November 22.

Bond in his case was set at $5 million. Prosecutors making a long argument for that high bond, and Mr. Rodriguez's lawyers rising to say that, in fact, he had no problem with a high bond; that he, in fact, decided he wanted to stay in police custody for his own safety.

I'm Jeff Flock, CNN, in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
