CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Investigators looking into the violent murder of federal prosecutor Jonathan Luna have changed the focus of their probe from possible professional ties to his personal life.
Here's CNN's Elaine Quijano.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ELAINE QUIJANO, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): In their search for clues in Jonathan Luna's slaying, sources say investigators are finding messages on adult Web sites with the name Jonathan Luna, messages seeking women for sex. Sources say investigators have not linked the messages with Luna's killing, but consider them part of a thorough investigation. Also being examined are possible debt issues, say sources.

Jonathan Luna's wife told investigators there were credit cards she did not know about until after his death.

Jonathan Luna's body was found Thursday in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in an area some sources described as a gathering place for sexual encounters. Luna had been tortured and stabbed as many as 36 times. The coroner concluded he died of "freshwater drowning and multiple stab wounds of the chest and neck." The coroner also said Luna was alive but incapacitated when he ended up in the water.

Investigators have retraced Luna's movements in the final hours before he was killed, saying after he left work at the U.S. federal courthouse in Baltimore late Wednesday night, he took an indirect route to Pennsylvania. Electronic records show he made two stops along the way. It's not clear if he was alone.

(on camera): Sources caution the investigation is still very preliminary and are not willing to say authorities have developing any hard leads. Despite Jonathan Luna's four years as an assistant U.S. attorney in Baltimore, investigators have so far found nothing to indicate his killer was connected to a case.
