CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Nothing is too good for the family pet, right? Well, now you can really treat Rover right.
As CNN's Jen Rogers discovered, some lucky pets are living the high life and owners are happily footing the bills.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
JEN ROGERS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Sushi, acupuncture, 24 hour room service -- pampering the family pet has taken on new proportions.
KAREN STEIN, LIFESTYLZ: Sushi, poochie sushi, treats. And all the food here is organic. There's no sugar. It's the right amount of fiber. And this one has been purchased by Minnie Driver, Selma Hyack, Lisa Gibbons (ph).
ROGERS: It's not just celebrities spending big to keep their lap dogs in the lap of luxury.
SANDRA ROSKER-KELLY, THE CAT HOTEL: There isn't anything that I can't believe. We've seen everything.
ROGERS: At this cat hotel, you can watch TV from the privacy of your own room while also watching your figure.
ROSKER-KELLY: We have a lot of extraordinary diets, like raw food diets.
ROGERS: Whatever your cat's tastes, naturally, having a staff of five at your feline's beck and call will cost you. A room with a TV runs $35 a day. But that's nothing compared to the booming business of animal hospitals.
DR. DAVID BRUYETTE, VCA WEST LOS ANGELES ANIMAL HOSPITAL: We do a lot of orthopedic strategies, knee strategies, hip strategies and a lot of cancer strategies. Total hip replacement strategies run at around $400 to $4,500. And then cancer surgeries, depending on the type of surgery and the type of after care afterwards, can run, you know, $5,000, $6,000, $7,000.
ROGERS: Of course, some owners have pet insurance, but others give their credit cards a workout, spending freely on the latest treatments, high tech or alternative.
DR. WILLIAM FARBER, VCA WEST LOS ANGELES ANIMAL HOSPITAL: I practice a lot of acupuncture, chiropractic. I use herbs, neutraceuticals, homeopathic agents, Bach flower remedies to try and complement what we're doing in terms of Western therapeutic measures.
ROGERS: New age music, a skilled pair of hands, a dog day most people would take any day of the week.
