CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: It wasn't the crazy train, but the crazy ATV. Ozzy Osbourne certainly feeling the pain this morning. He has a broken collar bone and more. He crashed and fell hard as his all terrain vehicle went out of control.
Live to Slough, which is right outside of London, and Diana Muriel -- what happened, Diana.

DIANA MURIEL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Carol, it sounds like quite a serious accident. He was out on his all terrain bike, on his quad bike, on his country estate, not far from here in Buckinghamshire when he had this accident. He was brought here in the middle of the afternoon and it seems that he has fractured eight ribs on his left side. He's also fractured his left collar bone, and that was quite serious, because it was resting on a major artery and they had to have an operation last night to lift that off the artery and restore circulation to his hand.

They've done that and they've now put him in a neck brace to support the collar bone and he's still being looked after here by the doctors.

We understand he's been walking around the ward, although he has been on a ventilator. And the doctors here are unable to say when they think the 55-year-old rocker will be able to leave the accidental emergency ward here at Wexham Hospital near Slough -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Well, we understand he was able to get to the hospital quickly. Was his wife around, his family around, to call emergency services?

MURIEL: Well, in fact, his daughter was here, Kelly, a 19-year- old who's just released a new single with him called "Changes." She was in England and she was at his side yesterday at the hospital. His wife, Sharon Osbourne, who was in Los Angeles when this incident occurred, we understand she's on her way right now to London Heathrow Airport. She should be arriving early this afternoon and she'll be coming to the hospital just as soon as she can.

So we will probably be seeing her later on today.

We've had no comment from the -- no formal statement from the Osbourne family, but I think we can expect to get one from her when she gets here -- Carol.

COSTELLO: All right, Diana Muriel reporting live from Slough, right outside of London, this morning. TO ORDER A VIDEO OF THIS TRANSCRIPT, PLEASE CALL 800-CNN-NEWS OR USE OUR SECURE ONLINE ORDER FORM LOCATED AT www.fdch.com
