CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: We do have a little more information on that explosion in Tel Aviv this morning. David Clinch is here to fill us in.
David -- what can you tell us that's new?

DAVID CLINCH, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL EDITOR: Well, Carol, this story is developing very quickly. We have confirmed from Israeli police that there has been a large explosion in Tel Aviv on a main thoroughfare -- you're seeing first pictures here -- a main thoroughfare in Tel Aviv, causing multiple injuries. And now, we're hearing deaths.

There are some reports coming out now that this may not have been a terrorist attack. Now, that's unclear at this point. The police originally were saying they were treating it as a Palestinian militant attack. There are now some reports we're seeing that it may not be a Palestinian militant attack. We're trying to clarify. We're on our way to Tel Aviv.

COSTELLO: And specifically, this happened on a busy street in a business district in a coffee shop.

CLINCH: Correct. I mean, I've been on this street. This is one of the main thoroughfares in Tel Aviv, a seaside city, people walking up and down this street all the time, sitting at cafeterias. People mixing in shopping, walking, driving. This is a very popular part of Tel Aviv. People would be in the street around lunchtime at this time.

So, again, I wouldn't call them conflicting reports, but certainly different reports at this point as to whether this is, in fact, a militant attack. And we're trying to clarify that. But we have confirmed multiple injuries, at least 15 people injured, and some reports now quoting the Israeli police as saying that there are at least three dead from this incident, this blast in Tel Aviv.

COSTELLO: Yes, well...

CLINCH: So, I'm going to need to go and find out more about this...

COSTELLO: OK.

CLINCH: ... and get back on it, because obviously the story changes rapidly, if it turns out not to be a militant attack, but we need to clarify that point immediately. COSTELLO: OK. So, I will allow you to leave now, David.

CLINCH: All right.

COSTELLO: Thank you very much for filling us in, though, and I know John Vause is also working in Jerusalem to get us more information.
