HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: Federal agents today are questioning a man with suspected ties to al Qaeda. Here now, justice correspondent Kelli Arena is in Washington with more on this arrest. Kelli, hello.
KELLI ARENA, CNN JUSTICE CORRESPONDENT: Hi there, Heidi. Well everything about this case remains under seal so the details are very sketchy.

Law enforcement sources tell us that this individual was taken into custody in Minneapolis on Tuesday and he is being held as a material witness which means that there are no criminal charges against him.

Now those sources say this man allegedly trained in al Qaeda camps. He's not a U.S. citizen and he has been in the United States for some time but they wouldn't provide specifics.

Now according to one source this man has provided some information about Zacarias Moussaoui, and he's the self-confessed al Qaeda operative who was also taken into custody in Minnesota in August of 2001, that a month before the September 11 attacks. Now that information that he provided, according to sources, pertained in part to Moussaoui's training at al Qaeda camps.

Now it's unclear at this point whether the two had any relationship or even what the Minnesota connection is. Moussaoui, as you know, is the only person who's been charged in the United States in connection with the September 11 attacks. The case against him has been stalled in the courts over issues of national security. And it's not clear what role, if any this individual will play if that case ever gets to trial -- Heidi.

COLLINS: All right, lots more to learn here, obviously. Kelli Arena, certainly thank you for that.
