DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Let's talk about that trial of former Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic. He will be able to cross examine the former NATO supreme commander. That happens to be General Wesley Clark who's running for president now and who oust him from power.
Our Walter Rogers joins us live. He is at the Hague in the Netherlands with more on this international tribunal. Good afternoon to where you are.

WALTER RODGERS, CNN SENIOR INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Daryn. General Clark, of course, the former NATO commander here in Europe, particularly during the bombing of the former Yugoslavia, gave crucial evidence today against the former Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic.

Clark, of course, is testifying under restrictions. We haven't seen the transcript of his testimony for security reasons at this pint. Just the same, he did talk to reporters afterwards. He gave us a hint of what he told the court. And he said that he testified that Slobodan Milosevic has had accountability and knowledge of the massacre of men and boys Srebrenica.

Now, that would be very damning for Slobodan Milosevic if in indeed General's Clark testimony. He also said he was able to testify as to Milosevic's intent both now and his state of mind then and now.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WESLEY CLARK (D), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: You might say it was a typical Milosevic performance in which it was grandiose in effort, misplaced, in some ways overly personal, and very -- for me it was very, very satisfying experience because I've watched the ravages of his leadership in Europe for years. I've talked to his victims. I've met them. I've seen the results in the shattered cities of former Yugoslavia.

And he's being held by the international community responsible.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

STEWART: General Clark also said that the trial of former Serb president Slobodan Milosevic represents judicial closure, perhaps the only justice that Milosevic's victims will ever get to see. Remembering hundreds of thousands were killed during that period and several million also deported made homeless.

Clark said this was a historic trial and he says it will close an ugly chapter in European history -- Daryn.

KAGAN: Walter Rodgers at the Hague in the Netherlands. Thank you for that.
