CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Let's head back to Iraq now and check on that big explosion that destroyed a building in Baghdad.
For details on the target and damage, we turn to our Satinder Bindra in the Iraqi capital.

Good morning again -- Satinder.

SATINDER BINDRA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Carol.

This blast occurred at about 5:00 a.m. local time, and it occurred in a building which offices -- which houses the offices of Iraq's largest Shiite party.

Now, we're given to understand the blast occurred at about 5:00. One woman was killed, eight Iraqis were injured.

This blast, Carol, comes just two days after another prominent Shiite leader, Mohammed al-Hakim (ph), was assassinated. This leader was assassinated outside his home in Baghdad.

Now, these attacks underscore a very significant point, which is that attacks against civilians here in Iraq are on the increase.

And also today, Carol, the U.S. administrator here, Mr. Paul Bremer, confirming to reporters that his convoy on December 6 came under attack. He described this attack as gunfire from just outside, just as his convoy was traveling from Baghdad International Airport to Baghdad. Of course, Mr. Bremer and all of his associates escaped.

Back to you.

LIN: All right, thank you very much, Satinder Bindra, with the latest from Baghdad.
