DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: If you're like Susan Lisovicz and the New Year means getting in shape, why not do it more fun. You can check out some spa vacations in today's "Getaway" segment. Several good suggestions are listed in the current issue of where else? "Spa" magazine. Liz Mazurski is editor-in-chief of that publication, and she is joining us from Los Angeles this morning.
Good morning.

Let's go right down the list and let's see what we have here. Let's start Canyon Ranch. That can be Massachusetts, or it can be Tucson, Arizona.

LIZ MAZURSKI, "SPA" MAGAZINE: Absolutely. Tucson, Arizona is the classic place. Lennox was added later on. But Canyon Ranch is known for its variety of options, its innovation. It really offer as fantastic range of methods to find your own fitness program.

As with most of the destination spas that we're going to talk about today, these places are geared toward customized programs and really creating a fitness regime that you can stick to and continue well beyond your time at the spa.

KAGAN: It's expensive, though, Liz.

MAZURSKI: It can be, absolutely. But what's great about most of the spas now is that where they used to be one-week programs were required, and that, of course, gets expensive any write that you stay, they now have weekend, long weekend, mid-week programs that are a little bit more well priced. But, you know...

KAGAN: I'm sorry, I just want to move along so we can get as many in as possible.

Cooper Wellness Program, and this is in Dallas.

MAZURSKI: Yes, it is. And Dr. Kenneth Cooper is sometimes known as father of or aerobics. So as you can imagine, there's a good emphasis on cardiovascular health here at Cooper. And what's also great, it's very stress-management oriented. So this is a fantastic option for business executives. And again, there are time options here where you can go for four, six, or 13 days, and take in a number of workshops, customized fitness routines, and always, it begins with a medical consultation, which is a real distinction at Cooper Wellness.

KAGAN: We head back to Arizona, to Tucson for Miraval Resort and Spa.

MAZURSKI: Miraval is a beautiful, beautiful place. It sets in the Sonoran (ph) Desert, which in and of itself is a divine spa treatment. But here, you've got some really progressive approaches to health and fitness. You have a true mind-body integration. Of course, that's a big buzzword now in the fitness realm. But Miraval really puts it together with a wonderful balance of exercise classes you can take throughout the day, anything from den (ph) boot camp to jazz, yoga, but in the meantime, you've got wonderful spa treatments to weather you through the day, and fantastic food and a wonderful meditative setting.

KAGAN: Let's head north of there, Red Mountain Spa in Utah.

MAZURSKI: Absolutely. Red Mountain is a fantastic break for people who may not want to get back in to shape, but might need a challenge. Because it's set in red rock country, it's beautiful, but there's a lot of rigorous exercise to be had. So they are known for their hiking program, their mountain biking, and particularly their rock climbing, which is a great way to stay in shape. Even when you get back home, there are more and more climbing centers around the country to take advantage of.

KAGAN: And then finally to northern San Diego County and Lacoste Spa. I know they've been under a number of renovations lately.

MAZURSKI: They have, and they are just starting to opening their doors again with their fully modernized setting. What's great here of course the spa has been totally redone. They're long-time known as a great luxury health resort spa, and they're got state-of-the-art equipment and so on to back that up yet again, and still in a really wonderful way.

What's been really savvy ant Lacoste, however, is they've invited Deepak Chopra to house his Chopra Center for Well Being here. So you know, in addition to the classic fitness and spa treatments, you have this wonderful mind, body and iron vettic (ph) approach to health and wellness, which is really very logical as a way to continue your health and well being beyond the spa experience.

KAGAN: I'm feeling more relaxed just even thinking about it. What a great job, working for "Spa" magazine.

MAZURSKI: It's not bad.

KAGAN: Good gig. There are more stressful things out there, let me tell you. Liz Mazurski, Happy New Year. Good spa-ing over the year, and thanks for giving us a peek at some of the hotspots out there.

MAZURSKI: My pleasure, thank you.
