CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Let's talk about the Miami Dolphins now. Miami Dan is back to play a new position in the front office.
For more, we head to Dolphins' headquarters in Davie, Florida and Nichelle King of CNN affiliate WSVN.

Are people embracing this news?

NICHELLE KING, WSVN CORRESPONDENT: Definitely people embracing this news here in south Florida. And, Carol, I just heard you mention Dan Marino as a legend. It's almost an understatement to call Dan Marino a mere legend here in south Florida. He played the position of quarterback here for the Dolphins for 17 years, from 1983 to the year 2000, and we've all seen the magic that Dan Marino had created on the field.

The hope is now that Dan Marino can create even more of that magic through the organization. The Miami Dolphins, you know, just missed out on the playoffs this year and they're hoping that with the addition of Dan Marino as well as the addition of a new general manager for the Miami Dolphins, they can definitely turn this team around and also give the Miami Dolphins a little bit more to make this team a little bit better, get into the playoffs next year.

Now, Dan Marino coming back in the position of the senior vice president of operations. In fact, he's taking over the position that was once held by what is now the new general manager, but now he is that new general manager's boss. I know that's a little difficult to understand, but Dan Marino now coming back in the form of a boss from this team that he was once quarterback. People here in south Florida so happy because the name Dan Marino is synonymous with winning. They're hoping that once again he can bring back some world winning teams -- Carol.

COSTELLO: I guess to boil it down, he will have some power on that team, he will have say in who plays, who coaches, etc., etc. And one of the most poignant things I heard Dan Marino say, as a player, he never won a Super Bowl and this is a second chance for him, right?

KING: It definitely is. Dan Marino even said himself this is his opportunity to come back to this organization and bring a ring to the Dolphins' organization, saying he came so close back in 1985, but, of course, didn't win the Super Bowl that year. This is a big chance to be able to come back to the Dolphins and finally get that hardware.

COSTELLO: All right, Nichelle King of CNN affiliate WSVN, reporting live from Miami for us. We appreciate it.
