CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Are you still looking for a way to lose weight? Well, now you can join some women who are learning to strip away the pounds, as well as their clothes.
Jeanne Moos gets down and dirty.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): It is poles apart from pushups.

SHEILA KELLEY, AUTHOR, "THE S FACTOR": Push it forward.

MOOS: And jumping jacks.

KELLEY: Double it up.

MOOS: The strip workout. First, it was a fad.

KELLEY: Beautiful!

MOOS: Now it's a book. After Sheila Kelly first learned the moves when she had to play a stripper in the film "Dancing At the Blue Iguana."

KELLEY: It's an unbelievable workout.

MOOS: Sheila began giving classes and now she's put out a guide called "The S Factor," S for the sinuous moves women make. Now you can learn "the pump," "the flirt," "the frisk." She has her students doing the kitty cat crawl. In this exercise class, even your hair gets a workout.

This woman's fiance waited outside after driving three hours to get to New York.

JONATHAN HOROWITZ, STRIP STUDENT'S FIANCE: If she chooses to perform for me, then great, I'll be very happy. But, you know, this is purely for her.

MOOS: She took to it like a kitty takes to playing with yarn.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think everyone fantasizes about it.

MOOS (on camera): About being a stripper?

I wouldn't even strip a bed. (voice-over): Sheila had the class spell with their pelvis.

KELLEY: O, P.

MOOS: But the only thing she actually stripped off were her socks. Sheila's specialty is pole tricks.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I've got a lot of bruises.

KELLEY: You get a lot of bruises at the beginning when you don't know what you're doing.

MOOS: Sheila sells poles on her sfactor.com Web site. She keeps two at home, where she lives with her husband, the actor who plays Toby in "The West Wing."

Pity the poor cameraman.

KELLEY: You can always trust the guy to go from behind. We're talking about you!

MOOS: In this strip class, take it all off. First, the pounds.

Jeanne Moos, CNN, New York.
