FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Well let's check with our 'Eye on the Sky' guy. Air Traffic Expert Rally Caparas from Travelocity Business is here.
Letting your hair down.

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Yes, it must be Friday.

WHITFIELD: That means it's going to be a good flight day.

CAPARAS: It's got to be Friday, you know. Someone said casual Friday. I went -- I went berserk and this is the way I do it.

WHITFIELD: OK.

CAPARAS: Do you think there are enough celebrities in trouble nowadays? That's all you hear. That's all you've been talking about for the last half hour.

WHITFIELD: I'd say it's ugly out there, isn't it?

CAPARAS: Yes.

Anyway, delays today, folks. It's going to be a pretty decent day, unless you are traveling to the northern tier of the United States.

Let's start on the East Coast. Newark and LaGuardia, delay free this morning. It will stay that way until the afternoon hours. Strong gusting winds, 25 to 30 knots will be a problem. Runway configurations, combined with the heavier volume period, hence, you'll have 45-minute arrival delays, so expect that.

Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh in the Great Lakes region, delay free at the moment. It will stay that way until later on this afternoon and evening also. Then you'll start to see the light snow and de-icing cause 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays. Departures because of the de-icing, obviously.

Chicago O'Hare, the Windy City, won't see so much wind today, but they will see plenty of snow, poor visibility, very slippery runways and that means 60 to 90-minute arrival delays this afternoon and evening. So be prepared. Make a friend, drink some coffee, crossword puzzles, you know the drill.

Sea-Tac on the West Coast, Seattle-Tacoma Airport, they'll have 30 to 45-minute arrival delays all day long. It will be the airborne holding variety where you'll spin around a couple of times in the sky before they filter you into the airport. Low clouds, fog and rain all day.

And then further south at San Francisco, their typical marine layer fog will roll in. Should be gone by about noon Pacific Time or so. But until then, expect 45-minute arrival delays.

But overall, scale to 1 to 10, it's about an 8.5 for travel on a busy, busy, busy Friday.

WHITFIELD: That's not bad for a Friday.

CAPARAS: Not bad at all.

WHITFIELD: You know. Of course there's always Sunday night and Monday. That's when it gets hairy, too.

CAPARAS: Delays will return, that's for sure.

WHITFIELD: All right. Well enjoy the weekend -- Rally.

CAPARAS: You too. Thanks.
