FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Well, in the mid-Atlantic in the middle of it all is Andy Barth of WMAR in Baltimore, or, as they say in Baltimore, Balimore.
And he's joining us live now -- Andy.

And how bad is it?

ANDY BARTH, WMAR CORRESPONDENT: Well, it's not the worst we've seen. We've learned to put this in the perspective of last year's real blizzard, the blizzard of '03. I don't think this qualifies yet as the blizzard of '04. But it is serious snow and still got some potential. I'd say we've got four or five inches. Most of the roads are snow covered. We've had crews out plowing. We've had those seven and eight plow convoys on the beltway that have helped get things down to the pavement a little bit.

But a number of schools have closed and a lot of people are trying to find a way not to go out in it. We see snow plow drivers here at the Royal Farm, where we've come for coffee and they've come for coffee, and it's one of those things where we tell people only to come out if they're essential, and so the people who are out feel pretty brave and essential and worthwhile and they're doing the best that they can.

WHITFIELD: All right, good enough.

Andy, get back inside.

At least I see your head is covered up. That's good. Try and stay warm.

BARTH: We've learned that.

WHITFIELD: All right, good to see you.

BARTH: OK, thanks.
