CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Quickly, we are going to go straight back to Beverly Hills. Daryn Kagan talking to a wonderful actor. Anybody who saw "Seabiscuit" remembers his amazing performance -- Daryn.
DARYN KAGAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: I'm here with William H. Macy. A man who has a lot on the line, and a lot of different movies to root for tonight. Congratulations on your nomination for "Seabiscuit".
WILLIAM H. MACY, ACTOR: It's a great film. I'm glad to be in it.
KAGAN: The writer and director Gary Ross (ph) just came through. He told me that he wrote that part for you. Called you on the phone, said he had a part, and you didn't even want to read for it, you said you'd take it.
MACY: Yes, When Gary Ross (ph) calls, you just say yes, when do I show up? He would call up as he was writing this stuff just cackling with glee at his own writing. But he was right, it's a very funny role, and well placed in the movie.
KAGAN: Well you made the most of what was a small role. And now what's interesting as we look at the drama of tonight, you're up against Alec Baldwin, who is on for the best supporting actor for "The Cooler" (ph) which is a movie that you star in and Maria Bellow (ph), your co-star is also nominated as well.
MACY: I found him in the gutter; I'll leave him in the gutter. No, the first time I saw "The Cooler", I said Alec walks away with this movie. And I don't think that anymore now. I think I'd walk away with the movie. But I think he's awfully good.
KAGAN: Two such different movies. "Sea biscuit" big, not quite epic, but a really big movie. And "The Cooler" a little movie. You have such a fantastic career. Do you have the type of movie that you like to do more, those small ones or the big ones?
MACY: If I could choose a career, I'd choose mine. I like the big ones and the little ones. They offer different things, and I love my life. I'm a lucky palooka (ph) and I know it.
KAGAN: And you have your wife here with you as well.
MACY: Yes I do.
KAGAN: Well congratulations.
MACY: Thank you.
KAGAN: And good luck tonight. And we're looking for more great things from you.
MACY: Thank you so much.
KAGAN: William H. Macy nominated for his part in "Sea biscuit", best supporting actor. Up against Alec Baldwin. We'll be watching it later tonight. Back to you Carol.
LIN: Yes, an unforgettable performance there. It was great.
KAGAN: Yes.
