CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Heading to the airport this morning, hold on for just a second, our Air Traffic Expert Travelocity's Rally Caparas live on the phone with possible delays to tell you about.
Good morning.

RALLY CAPARAS, AIR TRAFFIC SPECIALIST, TRAVELOCITY.COM: Good morning, Carol. Well there will be some delays still despite improving conditions throughout the northeast today, folks, not nearly the amount of cancellations. Over the last two days, we've seen nearly a thousand cancelled flights headed into the major airports in the northeast, but today a much better situation.

Newark and LaGuardia, they will see a delay-free start, but you can expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 to 60-minute arrival delays this afternoon and evening. Very strong gusting winds will force less-than-optimal runway configurations once again. Expect winds around 30 to 35 knots, as a matter of fact. So short to moderate delays likely in the New York City once again.

A little further south, Philadelphia's airport delay free right now, and it will stay that way for most of the day. But they, too, will likely see some 30 to 45-minute arrival delays sporadically throughout the afternoon and evening hours as the heavier volume period picks up. Strong gusting winds, of course, the problem there again.

Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh airports, they'll see low clouds, light snow, strong gusting winds and departure flight de-icing to the tune of 30 to 45-minute arrival and departure delays.

Further west, Chicago O'Hare Airport, they are delay free this morning, but it won't stay that way all day long. You can expect about a 60-minute arrival delay. Windy conditions, runway configuration problems because the -- there is still some light snow there, also. And once the runways get wet, they have to stop using their land and hold short procedures and that means lengthy delays. So 60 minutes and it could double by the time we hit the evening rush period.

And then finally on the West Coast, San Francisco International, 45-minute arrival delays, low clouds. Their marine layer fog rolls in, but it should be gone by noon Pacific Time for on-time schedules thereafter.

Overall though, a vast improvement. I'd give it an 8.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Carol, I'll be back tomorrow morning with the latest 'Eye on the Sky.' Back to you.

COSTELLO: Yes, that ain't bad, 8.5. Thank you -- Rally.

CAPARAS: Sure.
