DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: It is three days and counting until Super Bowl XXXVIII. New England tangles with Carolina. It's the Pats and the Cats in a Texas shootout in Houston on Sunday.
There's where we've tracked down our Josie Burke.

Funny thing. Somehow you ended up at the Super Bowl, girlfriend. How are you? Good morning.

JOSIE BURKE, CNN SPORTS CORRESPONDENT: I'm well, Daryn. Good morning to you.

There aren't a lot of stars in this game, I'm sure, that has not gone unnoticed. They're at least not playing in the game. But there is a star on the sidelines, and that's New England head coach Bill Belichick. He was the NFL's coach of the year. He's the winningest coach in the league since 2001.

And to really understand why he's had so much success, you have to realize that this isn't a guy just who woke up one day and said I want to be a football coach. He was really born to this job. His dad was a football coach.

And Belichick was studying film before he could read, and he hasn't stopped since.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

TOM BRADY, PATRIOTS QUARTERBACK: He has an incredible understanding of how to win football games.

WILLIE MCGINEST, PATRIOTS DEFENSIVE END: Truly, truly, you can say he loves the game of football.

ROMAN PHIFER, PATRIOTS LINEBACKER: He's constantly watching film. He's constantly thinking of ways that he can improve this team. And I think it kind of filters down through the players.

BURKE (voice-over): Belichick is so focused on that task it looks like he has time for little else, especially game day fashion.

BILL BELICHICK, HEAD COACH, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: There have been sometimes where I've kind of walked out on the field, not being real conscious of, you know, exactly how well everything fit together.

BRADY: He wears these sweatshirts that I swear have been through the dryer about 5,000 times on extra hot, and they can't be any tighter. The sleeves go to about here on his arm. You know, he gets razzed pretty good.

BELICHICK: And I'll have to pay a little bit more attention of that. I'm sure I'll try to look my best on Sunday.

BURKE: Light Belichick moments like that are rare in public.

PHIFER: Inside, he does have, you know, a personality. He is, you know, a warm human being. He does have a sense of humor.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

BURKE: And he also supposedly has a wild side, if you believe that one of his best friends is the rocker, John Bon Jovi.

Now, Bon Jovi is not on the schedule of all of the stars that are supposed to perform on Sunday, but here are some that are on that schedule. Pre-game, it will be Aerosmith. Beyonce Knowles in her hometown will be singing the National Anthem. And then for that halftime show, Janet Jackson is one of the headliners, Kid Rock, and also P. Diddy. That's the rundown -- Daryn.

KAGAN: Which, at this point, is getting a little bit more attention, Josie, than the actual game itself. I find it remarkable we're just days away from the Super Bowl. There is not this feeling that it's overtaking the nation. Do you think this is parody, that the NFL has been pushing, finally coming to roost, that you don't have big stars, you don't have dynasty teams?

BURKE: It certainly is. We've seen in the past couple of years, it's always a different team that seems to crop up. And the funny thing, though, is if the Patriots were to pull this off, you'd have to consider them a mini-dynasty to win two in three years. With the parody in the NFL, that would really be saying something.

KAGAN: Yes. Tom Brady, there would be a star-in-the-making. Very good. Thank you so much for that. Josie Burke in Houston, Super Bowl XXXVIII.

BURKE: Talk to you later, Daryn.
