Two More Highway Shootings in Ohio

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: There have been two more highway shootings in Ohio and this time a witness gives police the most detailed description yet of the gunman and the getaway car. The latest shootings happened on Interstate 71 in Jeffersonville. That's about 25 miles from any linked shootings.
Reporter Caroline Leiter (ph) of our affiliate station WBNS in Columbus joins us now with more.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
CAROLINE LEITER, WBNS CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Witnesses say the shooter drove onto the Brock Road Overpass, aimed a handgun south and hit a white minivan traveling north on 71. The bullet struck the hood of the van, just missing the four women inside. Minutes later, what appeared to be the same person fired from a second overpass less than one mile south, this time hitting the hood of a brown Mercedes, again, inches from the driver.
In both cases, no one was hurt. And for the first time since Gail Knisley was killed on November 25, a description of the driver emerges.
STEVE MARTIN, CHIEF DEPUTY, FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT: Witnesses to the incident described seeing a white male approximately 30 to 40 years of age associated with a small, dark colored vehicle on the overpass when these incidents occurred.
LEITERS: The four women in the van said they saw it. A man who lives near the Brock Road Overpass said he saw it. And a third driver called 911 from the highway right around the time of the shootings, saying he saw the same thing.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hey, I'm 71 just north of exit 69 near the (UNINTELLIGIBLE) sitting on the overpass. I don't know, it looks like he just got out of the vehicle. I don't know if it's anything or not.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: All right, hang on here with me. What did the car look like?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It looked like a little black sports car.
LEITERS: For hours, investigators shut down several overpasses and collected what appeared to be shell casings from Brock Road. No definitive link yet, but Chief Martin says the shootings appear to be connected to the 21 others already linked.
