DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: New York's runways are ready for takeoff today, Fashion Week, featuring some 80 shows previewing fall 2004.
Our Jason Carroll is under the tent, set in New York's Bryant Park. We picked our most fashionable guy to send out among the hot fashion (UNINTELLIGIBLE) there.

JASON CARROLL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Of course.

KAGAN: Good morning -- Jason.

CARROLL: Of course. Good morning to you. Who else did you expect but me? And you know, we're going to shoot a little strategically backstage here, because actually Carolina Herrera's show just ended, and some of the girls are actually changing just off- camera. But this is a clean show, so we're going to keep it clean.

I know there are a lot of people behind you, Carolina, who want to thank you and congratulate you. You can see all of these people lined up here. There is Ingrid Shishi (ph) there. I see her there. These are a number of people who want to thank her for the show that she just did. But we've got her right now. So, if you guys can just wait for just one quick second.

How did it go? How was the show?

CAROLINA HERRERA, LAVISH & LUSH: I think it went very well. I always watch my shows in the backstage, so I have to wait until tomorrow when I see CNN and watch the show.

CARROLL: Tell us about what people can expect for fall 2004, because that's what we're really premiering here.

HERRERA: I think what I did for inspiration for this collection was European ski resort like San Moritz or Schaz (ph). So, that's why you saw all of these girls wearing ski boots and skinny pants. And then they change, and for the evening they become very glamorous and they lose all of the layers and layers and layers during the day that they were wearing during the day.

CARROLL: It's always glamorous with you and classy as well. And one thing that I've noticed is that you now appeal to a completely different generation. My mother likes you. My sister likes you. So, it's different generations here. Why now have you been able to reach out to a new generation? HERRERA: Well, I think that (UNINTELLIGIBLE). I think fashions should go forward, and you have to have new clients. The age of my daughters, younger than my daughters. I mean, it's for everyone, a chic woman who wants to wear all of these clothes. So, I'm happy.

CARROLL: Now, Carolina, I also know that in order to be chic, it comes at a cost. It's expensive. But you don't have to get the whole thing. You know, if I want to get something for my girlfriend or something, I don't have to get the whole outfit. You can get just a piece or something, correct?

HERRERA: The good thing about this collection is that you can get pieces and mix them, because it's all about mixing. If you want to have a fantastic (UNINTELLIGIBLE) cashmere coat...

CARROLL: You hear that, Daryn?

HERRERA: Then you can wear it with jeans and a sweater. And there you are.

CARROLL: There you are, Daryn. Cashmere, you look like a million dollars. All you need is one of these things right here.

Thank you, Carolina.

HERRERA: Thank you so much.

CARROLL: She's all yours, people. She's all yours. You can congratulate her. There you go.

This is what it looks like after the show -- lots of congratulations, hugs and air kisses here. You know how it is at Fashion Week. But we're going to be here all week. So, this is just one little example of what we've got to show you.

Back to you -- Daryn.

KAGAN: Jason, you need to work on that double air kiss.

CARROLL: Yes, both sides.

KAGAN: Yes, there you go, both sides. Very good. We look forward to your reports throughout the week. Thanks for taking us backstage.
