Plane Crash Over United Arab Emirates

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: More now on that fiery plane crash in the United Arab Emirates. At least 35 are now confirmed dead. It happened just about two and a half hours ago.
CNN contributor Kim Kelaita is at the crash site. She joins us live by phone.
Bring us up-to-date -- Kim.
KIM KELAITA, CNN CONTRIBUTOR: Well, Carol, the officials are saying that at least 34 people were killed, as the Kish Airlines plane crashed into landing here at Sharjah International Airport. The plane crashed in a compound of villas right at the end of the airport at 11:00 a.m. local time.
The tail of the airplane is still intact and, in fact, in the middle of the road. The Dutch-made Faulkner 50 crashed near the end of the runway. Miraculously, no one was hurt on the ground.
The official UAE news agency, WAM, is saying six people have survived, including an elderly person and a child. Both were taken to a hospital in critical condition. Officials are saying there were 39 adults and 1 baby on board and a six-person crew.
The UAE Kish route is popular with tourists and UAE workers on work visas. They're doing visa runs. Kish Airlines has a daily flight to and from Sharjah to Kish Island, which is about 18 kilometers off the southern Iranian coast. Kish is about 200 kilometers from the UAE. Sharjah is about 15 kilometers from Dubai, and is one of the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates.
We're here at Sharjah International Airport. We're expecting a press conference in about an hour's time from officials to bring us more up-to-date on this breaking story -- Carol.
