DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Up first this hour on CNN, another day of carnage in Iraq. More than 40 people were killed today in a suicide bombing outside an army recruiting station. This is the second bombing in two days, apparently targeting Iraqis working with the U.S.-led coalition.
Our Baghdad bureau chief, Jane Arraf, joins us from the Iraqi capital with the latest.

Jane, hello.

JANE ARRAF, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello.

These were mostly young men, and the death count is now up to 47, Daryn. These were men who were waiting to sign up to try for jobs as soldiers in the new Iraqi police force.

Now, this was the second in a series of attacks on Iraqi police and security forces. And some of them have been linked not to al Qaeda specifically, but certainly the foreign fighters, and most recently to one man whom officials say is one of the most dangerous man in Iraq now. He's a Jordanian who many believe may have links to al Qaeda who has invited al Qaeda into this country.

KAGAN: Jane Arraf in Baghdad. Jane, thank you for that.
