THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We are talking fashion. We're going to go backstage at one of the big fashion shows in just a minute with Jason Carroll. Not just about the women's fashion, though, men count, too.
Michael Kucmeroski -- nope, let's try that again, Kucmeroski.

Help me, Michael.

MICHAEL KUCMEROSKI, "ESQUIRE" MAGAZINE: Kucmeroski.

KAGAN: There you go. You probably spent your whole life having to pronounce it, haven't you? We'll call you Michael and do the one- word thing, like Cher and Madonna. He's a senior fashion editor at "Esquire" magazine. He has a list of the best and worst dressed males of the species.

Good morning.

KUCMEROSKI: Good morning.

KAGAN: Let's start with the best, let's start with the positive, OK.

KUCMEROSKI: The best, OK.

KAGAN: Top five. I think we have a graphic to look at some of these. Top five, No. 5, Jake Gyllenhaal. He's an up and coming actor. Zac Posen, he's a fashion designer, young, hot fashion designer. Edgar Bronfman Jr., big businessman.

And, now here's an interesting one, Andre 3000. This guy just won the Grammy last week. He is of Outkast. So explain this to me, Michael. So there he's looking pretty nice in the tweed vest. But check him out in the video, in the bright green suit.

KUCMEROSKI: Right, in the bright green. Well, you know, we'd like to make the list very diverse, so we included him, and he does look really good when he dresses up and is out on the town. So that explains the vest and the green shirt, and he likes to mix things up, which is why he's wearing that sort of hip-hop hat. So...

KAGAN: Yes, go ahead.

KUCMEROSKI: And then he's one of the few on the list that stands out, because he's in the music business, whereas, like, all of the other guys that have -- lot have a very classic style. So we looked for somebody with a real mix. We were able to do it in a way that looked really good, and I thought he was the best one.

KAGAN: Knows how to dress it up, dress it down, all that kind of stuff.

And the person you picked to be the best dressed man according to "Esquire" magazine, Adrien Brody.

KUCMEROSKI: Adrien Brody, right.

KAGAN: Yes, last year's Oscar winner.

KUCMEROSKI: Well, he looks great in suits, and he always looks great in, you know, sort of when he pares it down, when he's wearing a suit without a tie, and his skinny frame lends to wearing clothes very well.

KAGAN: He's just hot, just say it.

KUCMEROSKI: He is. He looks really good in anything.

KAGAN: There you go.

KUCMEROSKI: So he's definitely the best dressed.

KAGAN: Now there's the best, and there is the worst, too, so we want to share those with what "Esquire" picked. Talk about a different mix. Now here you go, Vin Diesel, Deion Sanders, NASCAR in general? You've just indicted the entire sport?

KUCMEROSKI: Yes, I guess so. Most of them are pretty poorly dressed in general. But you know, it's not against the sport, it's just against those uniforms that just never look really good on anybody.

KAGAN: You know it's one of the most popular sports in all of America after the NFL?

KUCMEROSKI: I know. I know. I know. We just felt like we had to do it, though. Singer Michael Stipe. And Kid Rock, who was very controversial. We saw him with the American flag draped over his body.

KAGAN: Exactly, yes, and that's not a good look at all.

KUCMEROSKI: And Will Farrell, the actor, and the Oregon Ducks. People are going to wonder about that, but they came out with these new uniforms this year.

KUCMEROSKI: Oh, right, The Oregon Ducks. And I felt bad about the Oregon Ducks. But those colors just seemed to clash in a really bad way, and so we kind of had to cite them for a violation on that one.

KAGAN: Well, hats off, or helmets off, to an East Coast publication for even acknowledging that there is something existing on the West Coast. Thank you for that, as a West Coaster, I can say that.

But Will Farrell. Come on, Will Farrell is adorable. Why do you think he doesn't dress well?

KUCMEROSKI: I mean, look at what he's wearing. He should be working construction. He shouldn't be walking down the street picking up coffee and the paper in that. He should be on top of, like, the -- I know, I know, it's just not a good look on anyone, except if you're working on a building on a very cold day.

KAGAN: OK, well, I think there's a lot of women who think that Will Farrell is adorable.

KUCMEROSKI: I think he's adorable, too, but just not in that.

KAGAN: Did you get comments from anybody, any people on the list?

KUCMEROSKI: Not that I can say. We haven't received any comments yet, but we'll let you know.

KAGAN: Some people perhaps not too pleased.

Now we were interested to find out one of our own CNN'ers made your best dress list at No. 7. Please share.

KUCMEROSKI: Yes...

KAGAN: Tucker Carlson.

KUCMEROSKI: Tucker Carlson, he's really great. You know, he's got that kind of cute, preppy image, especially with the bow tie and the tweed jackets. And no one but him kind of takes that chance and dresses that way. You don't see many people that still are proponents of the bow tie. And we thought that that was really great, and just to see that he wears it every day, and it's a real signature style of his.

KAGAN: So you're going for a varied look. Andre 3000 and Tucker Carlson on the same best dressed list.

KUCMEROSKI: Right, and the whole list is kind of varied. You have Zac Posen who wears a lot of sort of a little bit more flashier fashion looking things, like that tuxedo he's wearing in the picture we chose. And then somebody like Edgar Bronfman Jr., who wearing a suit and tie, and always look very chic and classic in that. So there's like a real range of men on that list, which is what we were going for.

KAGAN: Michael, in case you're wondering how huge it is to be part of "Esquire's" best-dressed list, we couldn't even reach Tucker Carlson this morning; he's unreachable. Since he's made your list, doesn't even answer his phone.

KUCMEROSKI: Very, very popular.

KAGAN: That's big. That's big.

Thanks for sharing, so people can see this in this month's "Esquire."

KUCMEROSKI: In March's "Esquire." It's a great issue.

KAGAN: Great. We will be checking it out. Thanks for stopping by and sharing the list.

KUCMEROSKI: OK, thank you very much.

KAGAN: Appreciate it.
