CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Should the jury be sequestered during Scott Peterson's double murder trial? How about global positioning technology, should it be admissible in court? Those are the big questions leading up to trial.
Rusty Dornin has more for you.

RUSTY DORNIN, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): A prosecution witness has already told the court global positioning devices placed on three vehicles driven by Scott Peterson before his arrest malfunctioned at least four times. The devices tracked him to San Francisco Bay. That's where Peterson said he went fishing the day his wife Laci disappeared. The bodies of his wife and unborn son washed ashore four months later.

Up next, another prosecution GPS expert and then the defense expert is expected to try to tear apart the accuracy of the devices. The defense claims the GPS units were inaccurate and were not placed properly on Peterson's vehicles. At issue is whether the GPS technology is reliable enough to be used in California courts.

The judge said he would address the defense request to sequester the jury this week. Defense attorney Mark Geragos claims massive media coverage has already hurt Peterson's chances of getting a fair trial. In court papers, Geragos pointed to radio station billboards along the highway near the court as a prime example of how the constant coverage continues.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: See the untold story of the Laci Peterson murder.

DORNIN: And then there is the made-for-TV movie on USA Network. "The Perfect Husband: The Laci Peterson Story" aired over the weekend. Last week, Laci Peterson's family told reporters their fears about that.

RON GRANSKI, LACI PETERSON'S STEPFATHER: Our concern is is that everybody as a potential jurist and it could influence, you know, potential jurists.

DORNIN: No date has been set for the start of jury selection.

Rusty Dornin, CNN, Redwood City, California.
