CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Two more American soldiers are dead in Iraq. They were killed by a roadside bomb just about four hours ago.
So, let's take you live to Baghdad to find out more from Brent Sadler.

Hello -- Brent.

BRENT SADLER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Carol.

Yes, indeed, U.S. forces in Iraq sustaining more losses this day. The two soldiers -- we do not know which unit they were attached to -- were killed in another one of these roadside bombings. There have been a series of these kinds of attacks this week, again inflicting loss of life among American forces.

Also, Wednesday there was an attack against the U.S. base at the Abu Ghraib area. That's a former prison under the regime of Saddam Hussein, now a U.S. military base, where opponents of the coalition and anti-coalition forces have been imprisoned in Abu Ghraib. That area attacked by 33 mortars and a number of rockets, quite a heavy attack. U.S. forces responded in a gun battle that lasted about 20 minutes, and they captured 55 Iraqis, taken away now for questioning.

And in another military operation Wednesday, U.S. troops conducted a mission against suspected al Qaeda operatives. They targeted a cell, picked up seven individuals (UNINTELLIGIBLE). Their nationalities haven't been given, but certainly the suspicion that they may have al Qaeda links. Whether they are activists or suspected sympathizers, it's still too early to say -- Carol.

COSTELLO: Brent Sadler reporting live from Baghdad this morning.
