(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER (voice-over): On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, "People`s" Sexiest Man Alive. Is it Brad, Vince, Patrick, or even Tommy? Get ready for a surprise.

Plus, how do they decide these kind of things anyways? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, behind the scenes with the inside story.

Also, Harry Potter week on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Tonight, is Potter in peril?

EMMA WATSON, ACTRESS: I really want to see that (ph).

HAMMER: Emma Watson, Harry`s fellow student of spells, spills secrets to us about "The Goblet of Fire." It`s the interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Also, he may be Tiny, but he`s got really big dreams. Tonight, the amazing story of the world`s largest athlete. How this 800-pound wrestler is on a mission to prevent kids from getting fat. Meet Tiny Yarbrough, live, on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

ERIC NIES, PERSONAL TRAINER: I`m Eric Nies, and that`s Tiny. And if it happened today, it`s on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: Hi, everyone. I`m Brooke Anderson, live in Hollywood.

HAMMER: I`m A.J. Hammer, live in New York.

Tonight, People`s Sexiest Man Alive issue. The biggest event of the year in the magazine world, bar none. It sells millions. It will be the topic of water cooler talk for weeks. And who makes the cover is such a competitive, closely held secret that stars themselves even campaign for that honor.

Well, tonight, the secret is out. But go nowhere else. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has that list for you and the wheeling and dealing that went behind it.

Sibila Vargas in the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Hollywood newsroom with the story -- Sibila.

SIBILA VARGAS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Thanks, A.J.

Well, ladies, prepare yourself for a feast of the eyes. Hollywood`s hottest eye candy. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has it first. From bad boys to the man next door, there`s something for everyone, including the Sexiest Man Alive.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

VARGAS (voice-over): Oh, yes. These are some sexy men. And in this week`s "People" magazine, they make it official, naming their picks of the sexiest men of the year. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has the list.

There`s a little something for everyone. If you`re into bad boys, rocker Tommy Lee made the list. And another tattooed tiger? Supermodel Tyson Beckford. He`s got so many tattoos he`s lost count at 34. And ladies, he`s single.

But if you`re less into tattoos and more into the man next door thing, "Desperate Housewives" hunky neighbor James Denton made the list.

The sexiest castaway: "Lost" star Daniel Day Kim. Aside from being a beautiful man, he`s also a die-hard romantic, telling "People" magazine he saved every love letter ever written to him. How (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

Here at SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, our personal favorite pick, CNN`s own Anderson Cooper. He`s hot; he`s smart, and he`s humble. Saying he doesn`t understand the hype. When he looks in the monitor, he sees a pale skinny guy with gray hair. Sorry, Anderson. That`s not what we`re seeing.

And now for "People" magazine`s pick of the Sexiest Man Alive, drum roll please. Matthew McConaughey. "People" magazine calls him a one-man endorphin rush. He`s certainly sexy, with a twinkle in his eye.

A meat and potato man with some surprising characteristics. His favorite book: the dictionary. He`s fluent in Spanish and best of all, calls his mom every Sunday. If only they made every man this dreamy.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

VARGAS: Also on their list, Jamie Foxx, Orlando Bloom, Antonio Banderas, Patrick Dempsey, and Keith Urban, and Matthew Fox, aptly named, and Owen Wilson. And Brooke, the list goes on and on.

ANDERSON: And on and on. It certainly does. Sibila, thanks. Sibila Vargas in Hollywood.

And with more on that list of sexiest men, Julie Jordan, "People" magazine`s West Coast bureau chief, who joins us live now from New York.

Hi, Julie.

JULIE JORDAN, WEST COAST BUREAU CHIEF, "PEOPLE" MAGAZINE: Hello.

ANDERSON: Hello. Matthew McConaughey, the Sexiest Man Alive. Now Julie, there`s so many beautiful men in Hollywood. How did you decide that Matthew was the sexiest?

JORDAN: It`s a tough job. I mean, there`s so many guys out there. And Matthew absolutely rose to the forefront this year. He`s had success with "Sahara," you know, the big summer hit, of course, with Penelope, his co-star, on his arm. He held his own with Al Pacino in "Two for the Money." And he`s really proving his own.

And he`s such a southern gentleman. He kind of oozes this charm and has a way about him. He`s so down to earth, prefers bare feet and barbecuing, you know, with a can of Miller Lite in his hand. You can`t get more real than that.

ANDERSON: You can`t. You certainly can`t.

Now, you chose Matthew. We want to know the inside story. How is this decision made? Do you also sit around in a conference room and discuss it? Is a vote taken? Who makes this call?

JORDAN: Well, it`s hard to narrow it down. Like I said, there`s a lot of faces to choose from. Of course, the staff has their favorites, and we`re, you know, rallying around those. But we also look to who our readers really enjoy.

And then in the end, yes, it comes down to kind of whittling down the list and making sure we get a good representation of all that is sexy out there. And I mean, everyone is going to have a favorite in this issue.

ANDERSON: Do you score them? Are there points put on these guys?

JORDAN: I think we personally score them. But no. We don`t. Like I said, everybody has their favorites. And this is going to be -- it`s an issue because it`s fun. You can -- you can debate. You know, were there guys left out? You know, are the guys that are in there absolutely deserving? But like I said, really good representation and really good mix. Because we want a lot of different attributes, yes.

ANDERSON: There is a good mix. I don`t want to interrupt you, but someone who`s not your stereotypical sexy guy, comedian Steve Carell. He stars on "The Office." I don`t know if you saw "40 Year Old Virgin," but the scene where he`s getting his chest waxed...

JORDAN: Not sexy.

ANDERSON: ... not sexy, but funny. How big a role does sense of humor play in this whole thing?

JORDAN: That`s just it, you know. Sexy attributes, that`s a sense of humor, that`s being really smart. And Steve, he`s a good looking guy, but that sense of humor.

More importantly, you know, we asked him how does it feel to be sexy. And he`s like, "I am a sexy beast." You know, he knows. And he`s just appreciative that someone`s finally recognizing that.

ANDERSON: And George Clooney also on the list. No-brainer?

JORDAN: No-brainer. He`s a perennial favorite. But I do love -- he`s got such a self deprecating sense of humor. He says he`s looking for a future sexy list, something like "Sexiest Former Batman Who Was Also on a Hospital Show." He`s definitely kind of carving a niche for himself.

ANDERSON: Well, Julie, thank you so much for being here and sharing it with us. It is a lot of fun every time this issue comes out.

JORDAN: Yes.

ANDERSON: And if you want to read more on Hollywood`s sexiest men, pick up a copy of "People" magazine. It is on newsstands now.

OK, so now we are taking it to the people. It is our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Matthew McConaughey: do you think he is the sexiest man alive? Vote at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight. Send us an e-mail at ShowbizTonight@CNN.com. We`ll read some of your thoughts later on in the show.

HAMMER: Tonight, Madonna`s harsh words for President Bush and a stunning defense of Tom Cruise. In a revealing and candid interview in this month`s "Rolling Stone," Madonna, who just released her album, doesn`t understand how Bush was reelected and bashes the administration`s handling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster.

About his November 2004 reelection, Madonna says, quote, "I was just frigging devastated. It was a real sad day. I don`t get how people can have all these facts and still turn away from them. New Orleans was an undeniable irresponsibility."

And she`s actually got Tom`s back when it comes to his study of scientology. Madonna, of course, has been studying Kabala, which is Jewish mysticism. And, along with Cruise, has taken quite a bit of flack about her association with that movement.

She says, quote, "We`re both in the take-a-lot-of-blank club together. I don`t really know what Scientology is. I don`t think anybody else knows, either. They need to shut the blank up."

You can read more of Madonna`s interview in next month`s "Rolling Stone" magazine. It will be out on Friday.

ANDERSON: Well, Madonna sang "Living in a Material World." And if you are one of those people that`s got to have everything, tonight here`s really cool stuff coming to a store near you someday, from a cloned dog to a motorized chair, even root beer flavored food spray. It`s "TIME" magazine`s Most Amazing Inventions of 2005.

Here`s CNN`s Jeanne Moos reporting for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Sure, you can live without a robot that plays music. And you don`t really need land rollers, skates with overgrown wheels for extra stability. And is something called a flavor spray really a must-have item?

(on camera) Get that cucumber.

(voice-over) Still, they all made it into "TIME" magazine`s annual Most Amazing Inventions of 2005 issue.

The most amazing invention of all?

(on camera) Snuppy the puppy.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Snuppy the puppy.

MOOS (voice-over): The Afghan puppy that South Korean researchers cloned from another Afghan`s ear cell.

Forget about seeing double. Feast your eyes on Nike`s MaxSight contacts. The amber makes tennis and baseballs really show up.

(on camera) They are so freaky to look at. I mean, they have to be this color, right?

MARYANNE BUECHNER, "TIME" MAGAZINE REPORTER: They do have to be this color. This is how they filter out the blue light.

MOOS (voice-over): And for ultra sharp underwater images, the SeaLife DC500 made the list.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Smile, please.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We have had a request for someone who specializes in nude photography underwater.

MOOS: We kept our clothes on and later had our picture taken...

(on camera) Nuvo, camera.

(voice-over) ... by a robot. Though at first, Nuvo`s framing was a bit off.

Another robot called i-Cat (ph) made a list for its un-robot-like ability to make facial expressions.

ROBOTIC VOICE: Happy, sad.

MOOS: i-Cat (ph) got your tongue?

(on camera) No, don`t run. I want to know what you think of it.

(voice-over) It is Toyota`s concept vehicle. Is it a chair? Is it...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A car.

MOOS: Shaped like a leaf, powered by lithium ion batteries. You steer by moving this ball. The i-Unit has two positions.

(on camera) Sort of like the dentist.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, the dentist.

MOOS (voice-over): The reclining position is for faster speeds.

(on camera) Do you like it?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What would you do with it?

MOOS (voice-over): Who knows? It`s for the future.

Back in the present, tattoos etched by laser on fruit made the most inventive list. Stores get all the product information without customers having to pick off those annoying stickers.

If you want to add taste without adding calories, try flavor sprays by Chef David Burke. They come in flavors ranging from root beer to bacon to ranch dressing.

(on camera) Well, it`s all right.

(voice-over) And if you make a mess in the kitchen, there`s SCUBA. SCUBA mops. This is the floor`s eye view.

Robots that mop, robots you can dance robotically to. Nuvo even tells time.

(on camera) Nuvo, what time?

ROBOTIC VOICE: Twelve twenty-four p.m.

MOOS (voice-over): But even a robot with 15 motorized joints takes a beating. It`s enough to make a robot take up smoking.

ROBOTIC VOICE: I am i-Cat (ph).

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: That was CNN`s Jeanne Moos reporting for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Coming up, an ugly battle brewing between Baldwin and Basinger. And Sharon Stone`s surgery suit. Tonight`s "Legal Lowdown."

HAMMER: And how in the world will an 800-pound wrestler convince kids to stay in shape? He`s on a special mission. Manny "Tiny" Yarbrough`s amazing story next, live in the interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

ANDERSON: Also, country rocks the big city. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is backstage at the CMA Awards in New York City and has all of last night`s star scoop. But with all of the hype, was the show a big ratings success? Find out next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer.

Tonight, the amazing story of the heaviest athlete in the world, according to the "Guinness Book of World Records," on a mission to keep kids in shape.

Former sumo wrestling champ Manny "Tiny" Yarbrough at one point was 800 pounds and gunning to make the 2008 Olympic judo team but at nearly a ton, it was a Tiny chance that he would actually make the cut.

So that`s where Eric Nies and the Body Mechanics came in. And now Tiny is traveling the nation, shedding the pounds and actively fighting child obesity.

Joining us live in New York, and losing weight by the minute, Manny "Tiny" Yarbrough and one of his trainers, Eric Nies, who of course, people know from "The Real World," lest we forget "The Brady Bunch Movie" and "The Grind." But we won`t go into that right now.

Tiny, what I want to know is how much weight have you lost so far since the program started?

MANNY "TINY" YARBROUGH, WORLD`S LARGEST ATHLETE RECORD HOLDER: I`ve actually dropped over 220 pounds, because I was actually in excess of 840 pounds when I first started.

HAMMER: That`s like three Backstreet Boys, man. That`s enormous. And how are you doing it? It can`t be a standard diet and getting on the treadmill, I imagine.

YARBROUGH: I became involved with -- to be a Body Mechanic. And as a Body Mechanic, we went to a program of just doing little workouts and switching to more whole foods and natural foods and fruits and supplements.

NIES: Fruits and vegetables, whole foods.

HAMMER: But where do you start, Eric? Because getting a guy like Tiny into the gym, it`s not your normal workout routine. You`ve been involved with fitness for a long time. It`s not just simply, you know, doing regular weights and cables and stuff.

NIES: He`s a world class athlete. So he disciplines himself and he works really hard. So it`s just getting him moving, and that`s all, just being active. And that`s one of the things we like to say, is awareness, knowledge, and action. And he -- he puts it to work. So it`s just basic, basic exercising.

HAMMER: And one of the really great things that you`re doing while you`re going through your program is you`re traveling around the nation in this really cool bus.

YARBROUGH: Yes.

HAMMER: And you`re getting the message out about child obesity, which is a huge problem in this country. We have a lot of people watching right now. Maybe they are obese themselves or have obese children and have no idea where to begin. Where do they start?

YARBROUGH: It starts with just making up your mind that you want to make a change in your life. And like being associated with Body Mechanics, it`s like you make that first step, and then you just do something every day. As far -- as long as you move or do something as far as an activity is concerned, then you`re making that forward progress.

NIES: And we`re offering a solution to this epidemic, you know? The kids, they can come and they watch the movie. There`s an interactive DV (ph) game that they play with the kids. Brings the family back together.

There`s an incredible tool kit with tons of information in there. A book and core -- core training, stability exercises for the kids.

And it`s like an amazing opportunity for parents out there that can`t get their kids to eat their fruits and vegetables. And after they watch this movie, kids know about cholesterol, cortisol, and all these amazing things that are happening inside their bodies when they`re not earning that (ph).

HAMMER: That`s a really important thing to mention is people need to understand what goes on inside in order for them to really...

NIES: Most important. Yes.

YARBROUGH: It starts with knowledge. Because my problem was I didn`t know what the harm the foods were doing. And then once I saw things, when I learned about how they affected my body, then you make the change. You affect -- you move to things that help you out.

NIES: And these kids can become a part of the global federation of Body Mechanics. They can actually become members of it. And they go to the web site, and there`s all this information. And they can follow Tiny`s journey all the way to the Olympics.

HAMMER: And you guys make it a lot of fun, which is really important, especially for kids.

So what`s your weight the last time you got on the scale?

YARBROUGH: Six twenty-five.

HAMMER: Your goal...

YARBROUGH: A svelte 625.

HAMMER: Yes, yes. We`ll have you on "Sexiest Man Alive" next year. What`s your goal weight?

YARBROUGH: I want to start training back at 550 and eventually get back to my college playing weight of 380.

HAMMER: Well, best of luck to you. Tiny, it`s a pleasure to meet you, and Eric, very nice to have you on the show. And best of luck with all of this.

And for more information, people should go to your web site to follow the Body Mechanics and follow Tiny and Eric on tour. It is ObeezCity.com.

ANDERSON: Well, it was country`s biggest night last night. The brightest stars took over New York City for the 39th Annual Country Music Association awards. The show was uprooted from Nashville for the first time ever, and SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s David Haffenreffer was there for all of the action and joins us now live from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom.

Hey, David.

DAVID HAFFENREFFER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi, Brooke.

Yes, what a night it was, from Dolly Parton to Willie Nelson, Nashville came to New York, as country`s biggest stars took a bite out of the Big Apple. And early ratings show this two-step was a big hit with viewers, as well. Nearly 18 million people watched the broadcast on CBS.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: If you can if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

HAFFENREFFER (voice-over): You can take the Country Music Awards out of Nashville, but you can`t take Nashville out of the awards.

Big and Rich taking a bite out of the Big Apple.

For the first time in the show`s 39 year history, country music`s biggest night was in New York City.

(MUSIC)

HAFFENREFFER: And Lee Ann Womack was the big winner.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: "I Might Hate Myself in the Morning," Lee Ann Womack.

LEE ANN WOMACK, COUNTRY MUSIC STAR: Oh, my God. I love country music.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: "There`s More Where That Came From," Lee Ann Womack.

HAFFENREFFER: She took home three awards, album and single of the year and best duet, with George Strait.

Womack`s album, "There`s More Where That Came From," marked her return to more traditional country music. She went a bit pop a few years ago with her smash hit, "I Hope You Dance."

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was backstage with Womack, who says she hopes her wins will encourage more of her kind of country music.

WOMACK: I was very, very anxious to bring my version of country music to New York.

HAFFENREFFER: Aussie Keith Urban also hit it big. Urban went home with trophies for entertainer and male vocalist of the year. Backstage, he thanked Kenny Chesney, who he beat out for entertainer of the year.

KEITH URBAN, COUNTRY MUSIC STAR: I thought it was Kenny. Hell, I voted for Kenny. You know, I was shocked, literally shocked.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Here`s Dolly Parton and Sir Elton John.

HAFFENREFFER: It wasn`t just pure country last night as pop stars popped up, making the crossover to country.

(MUSIC)

HAFFENREFFER: Elton John teamed up with Dolly Parton for two songs, including Elton`s new single, "Turn the Lights Out When You Leave."

Norah Jones and Willie Nelson got together for Paul Simon`s "Still Crazy After All These Years."

(MUSIC)

HAFFENREFFER: It was a big night for s 22-year-old "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood. She made her first trip to the CMA Awards, performing her big hit singer, "Jesus Take the Wheel" from her just released debut album.

Carrie was known for being a bit shy on "Idol" but tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT she`s learning to enjoy her new-found game.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD, "AMERICAN IDOL" WINNER: I`m just trying to go with it and get through everything. So you know, I`m just taking it as it comes.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAFFENREFFER: And doing a good job of it.

Country music is also big on the album charts this week. New numbers out today show Kenny Chesney has the No. 1 album. "The Road and the Radio" just came out. It makes Chesney the only country artist to have four consecutive albums debut atop the "Billboard 200" chart. Nice performance -- Brooke.

ANDERSON: Pretty impressive. Thanks, David. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s David Haffenreffer. And if you missed last night`s show, you can catch it on CMT, Country Music Television, on Thanksgiving.

Well, one of the guys who kept the identity of Watergate`s Deep Throat secret for 30 years reveals a startling new secret today. Bob Woodward, what that secret is, coming up.

HAMMER: And, Harry Potter secrets revealed tonight. Our Harry Potter week continues with Hermione herself, Emma Watson. What might happen to Harry in the new movie, "Goblet of Fire," and Emma`s run-ins with the obsessive fans. It`s the interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

ANDERSON: And, their destiny fulfilled. Destiny`s Child takes the stage one last time before going their separate ways. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has your look at their last performance, next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Well, the curtain has come down on Destiny`s Child`s final performance. The group got quite a sendoff last night when "Jimmy Kimmel Live" devoted the entire show to saying good-bye. For their last song, Destiny`s Child performed their hit song "Survivor." Here`s a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(MUSIC)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Clearly enjoying themselves. In an interesting side note about just how close Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle are. Even though they clearly each could have had their own dressing rooms, the ladies shared one for their appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Quite a send off.

ANDERSON: They are definitely good friends. And we`ll have more with Destiny`s Child a little later on. My one-on-three interview: what charities they are so devoted to, and I ask Beyonce, point blank, about pregnancy and marriage rumors.

HAMMER: And a very scary fall for a very big pop star. What happened and how he`s doing. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has the shocking video you will want to see. It`s coming up.

ANDERSON: Plus, Alec Baldwin has some pretty harsh words for ex-wife Kim Basinger. And did a plastic surgeon try to turn Sharon Stone image into nip-tuck bucks? That and more in tonight`s "Legal Lowdown," still to come.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(NEWSBREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 31 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer, live in New York.

ANDERSON: And I`m Brooke Anderson, live in Hollywood. And you`re watching TV`s only live entertainment news show.

A.J., actors Alec Baldwin and his wife, Kim Basinger, are embroiled in a really ugly legal dispute right now over the custody of their daughter. Each basically is claiming the other has serious emotional problems. Coming up in the "Legal Lowdown," what`s being said and how this could affect the custody case.

HAMMER: Never been good between the two of them.

ANDERSON: It`s been rocky.

HAMMER: Also coming up, as our Harry Potter week continues, as we work towards the weekend release of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," my "SHOWBIZ Sitdown" with Emma Watson. She`s been playing the part of Hermione Granger for a third of her life.

ANDERSON: Since she was 10, right?

HAMMER: Since she`s 10 years old. So what`s it like being the character that so many people are obsessed about and a movie that has so many obsessive fans? We`ll ask her in just a few moments.

But first, let`s get to tonight`s hot headlines with SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Sibila Vargas, joining us once again from Hollywood -- Sibila.

VARGAS: Thanks, A.J.

Tonight, Miss America hits the Vegas strip. Organizers are moving the 2006 Miss America pageant from Atlantic City to Sin City in an effort to boost the show`s sagging bottom ratings. Country Music Television will broadcast the contest from the Aladdin Hotel and Casino, marking the first time in 84 years that the crowning glory will occur outside New Jersey.

Also tonight, one of the busiest men in show business will end the year working on yet another job. Region Philbin will ring in the 2006 for FOX as host of its New Year`s Eve festivities. Of course, we invite you to join Anderson Cooper, hosting the party for CNN.

Last week, Philbin was tapped to host ABC`s new revival of "This is Your Life." Meanwhile tonight, Hollywood mourns the passing of the original host of "This is Your Life," Ralph Edwards. The radio and TV pioneer died of heart failure today at his Hollywood Hills home. Tonight, fans placed flowers on his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Edwards was 92.

And Mexican pop star Juan Gabriel is recovering after a nasty spill in concert. Gabriel was several minutes into his first set when he appeared to trip on his mic cord. Gabriel broke his wrist and suffered a concussion. Organizers are reshuffling the rest of his concert schedule while the singer heals.

And those are tonight`s hot headlines. A.J., back to you.

HAMMER: All no good. Thanks very much, Sibila. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Sibila Vargas in Hollywood.

ANDERSON: Tonight, a stunning revelation. The man who kept the Deep Throat secret for so long reveals another secret.

Today, Bob Woodward apologized to "The Washington Post`s" executive editor for not telling him that a senior Bush administration official had told him about CIA operative Valerie Plame.

Woodward said he learned about Plame`s identity almost a month before it became public and kept the secret for two years, even as the leak investigation exploded into a national scandal.

Woodward says he held back the information because he was worried about being subpoenaed by the special counsel. On CNN`s "THE SITUATION ROOM," Woodward`s editor spoke publicly about Woodward`s apology.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LEONARD DOWNIE, EXECUTIVE EDITOR, "THE WASHINGTON POST": He made a mistake. He apologized for it. I`ve asked him to improve his communications with me about the work he`s doing on his books that could produce things for the newspaper. He`s promised to do so. We`re going to move ahead now.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: The leak of Plame`s identity has resulted in the indictment of Vice President Dick Cheney`s former chief of staff, Scooter Libby. Woodward isn`t saying who his source was, but says it is not Libby.

HAMMER: It`s time now for the "Legal Lowdown," a look at what`s going on in the world of entertainment legal news. On our docket tonight, dramatic new developments in the custody battle between Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. We`ll get to that.

And Sharon Stone reaches a settlement with a plastic surgeon she says was spreading lies about her. We`ll tell you the latest.

Joining us tonight, Harvey Levin, the managing editor for the entertainment news site TMZ.com. He`s live in the TMZ studios in Glendale, California.

So Harvey, yet more drama in the Alec Baldwin-Kim Basinger relationship. This has always been a contentious situation that`s been going on for years now. What`s the latest between these two?

HARVEY LEVIN, MANAGING EDITOR, TMZ.COM: Well, I mean, it`s just all out war, A.J. Now Alec Baldwin is basically saying, "Look, I have been alienated from his daughter thanks to Kim." And he is asking a judge to intervene and force Kim to take some kind of parenting classes to understand what he says is the meaning of co-parenting.

He is saying that he shelled out a million bucks in legal fees in this custody fight since 2002, and it`s just getting worse. And he says it`s having an impact on his daughter. And he wants a judge to actually step into this relationship.

HAMMER: And where can we expect it to go from there?

LEVIN: Well, I mean, the judge is going to have to rule. I mean, these two people clearly cannot get along. And I think it`s an interesting position for the judge to be in, because if he just lets them try, they`re not going to succeed. That`s really clear. So this may really require some kind of innovative work by this judge.

HAMMER: Let`s talk about Sharon Stone. She just settled a lawsuit with a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon that she went after because she says was spreading these lies about her. Exactly what was she claiming that he was saying?

LEVIN: OK, well, I`m going to really go Hollywood on you in this one in a second. I`ve got, really, something to tell you.

But the back drop is this. She says that this plastic surgeon was either insinuating or outright saying that he performed plastic surgery on her, by -- and then put this information in magazines which he put on his web site.

He says, "I never said I did it." The magazines may have insinuated it. But he did put it on the web site. So they ended up settling this case. It was supposed to go to trial yesterday.

And the settlement is we know that he played her legal fees. He took that information on the web site down.

Now here`s what`s kind of ironic about it. A friend of mine got an award today at a lupus luncheon in Beverly Hills. And I went there to attend to support her. And suddenly, Sharon Stone comes up on stage, and she`s the auctioneer at this event.

And she starts talking about the settlement. And she said that one of the other terms was that this doctor would perform reconstructive surgery, plastic surgery on children. And she swears she`s never had any work done.

HAMMER: Really. No, she`s always been very adamant about that, that she`s never had any work done. But let me ask you: aren`t terms of settlements like this usually completely confidential, and she`s out there talking about it? Is that cool?

LEVIN: I was a little surprised at this, because I got the information about the attorney`s fees, and about taking it off the website kind of on the Q.T., to be quite frank with you, and then suddenly she just kind of said it at this thing. But that`s what she said. I heard it with my own ears.

HAMMER: Well, she`s turning it into a good thing. Let me get to this story that TMZ.com is breaking. Big news about actor Orlando Bloom today. Huge "Pirates of the Caribbean" star, of course. "Kingdom of Heaven" another one of his big movies. Now he`s being sued, apparently for a lot of money. Explain exactly what`s happening here.

LEVIN: A lot of money. His management company, or the former one, it`s called The Firm. It`s a really powerful management company in Hollywood. They represented him in a lot of the movies he did, including "Pirates" sequels.

And they say basically he fired them and then went over to this competing firm called Brillstein-Grey, and that they were getting a lot of the commissions, and they didn`t pay -- they didn`t pay The Firm those commissions. And they`re saying it`s at least $660,000.

HAMMER: Didn`t he go with an agent from this one firm to the new firm?

LEVIN: Yes. His personal agent worked at The Firm. She went over to Brillstein-Grey, became a partner there. And apparently, he followed. And The Firm is actually suing that agent, saying that she masterminded part of this.

HAMMER: Well, thanks for letting us know about all of this. Harvey Levin from TMZ.com, we appreciate it.

LEVIN: See you, A.J.

ANDERSON: Coming up on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, Hermione is back in a hotter "Potter." As our Harry Potter week continues, Emma Watson tells us about the movie`s more grownup tone. It`s the interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

HAMMER: And a date with Destiny. In the "SHOWBIZ Sitdown," the independent women of Destiny`s Child talk to us and tell us why breaking up is hard to do. And Beyonce sets the record straight on the big rumor that everybody`s been buzzing about.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JEFF FOXWORTHY, COMEDIAN: Hi, my name is Jeff Foxworthy. What I`m listening to right now is U2, Third Day and Brad Paisley.

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson.

Earlier today, "People" magazine named Matthew McConaughey this year`s Sexiest Man Alive. And that leads us to our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Matthew McConaughey: do you think he`s the sexiest man alive? Keep voting at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight. And write us at ShowbizTonight@CNN.com. Your e-mails are coming up at 55 past the hour.

HAMMER: All week, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is wild about Harry Potter. It`s our special series on Harry Potter as the fourth movie in the series, "The Goblet of Fire," will be opening up on Friday.

Tonight, in the interview you`ll see only here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, Emma Watson, who of course, plays Hermione, came here to the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT studio. We talked about the film`s PG-13 rating, her theory about Harry`s outcome and what it`s been like for her to be part of such a big franchise.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Emma Watson, it`s a pleasure to have you here. So nice to meet you.

WATSON: Yes. And you.

HAMMER: You`re running around town, New York City. You went to the premier over the weekend. Now you have to do all this publicity and stuff. I imagine when you first started out with the very first Harry Potter movie, it was all so new and exciting. Is it kind of work now? Or is it still all just, you know, big excitement for you?

WATSON: No, you know, I am still finding it really great to be here. I love New York. I love coming to New York. So it makes it all worth it.

HAMMER: One of the most often things that -- most common things that people are talking about is it`s a darker Harry Potter movie.

WATSON: Yes.

HAMMER: It`s a PG13. I spoke with Daniel Radcliffe recently. And he told me that the fans just wouldn`t be happy if it wasn`t that way. The director said the same thing. What else did the movie get absolutely right that diehard fans will say, "Oh, yes"?

WATSON: Well, it`s always been about remaining faithful to the book. And I think that for anyone who is a fan of the book, they will see that, you know, as much as is possible, they have really kept in.

I mean, yes, they have to cut some things. Otherwise, you know, you`d be in front of a 10-hour film and you`d just get bored. But they have kept a lot of it in.

And I think -- I think it`s great that, you know, that they didn`t pull the punches and that it is darker. It`s scarier. It`s more of a thriller. I think they did a really good job with it.

HAMMER: As an actress, you really seem to come into your own in this one.

WATSON: That`s very nice of you to say. Thank you. I really had the opportunity in this one. Mike really, really treated me like an adult. He refused to tell me what to do. He wanted it to come from me. And he really challenged me and pushed me.

And I think, you know, that because we`re that much older, you know, I definitely feel that I did the best -- the best performance yet. I`ve been playing Hermione for so long now, so I should know.

HAMMER: A third of your life.

WATSON: A third of my life. Oh, my goodness. That`s quite...

HAMMER: I`ve been doing the math. You`re 15 now, right.

WATSON: Scary, yes.

HAMMER: So there you go. Daniel had told me that he read the books long before he was involved with the Potter films. And you mentioned you read the books, as well. Same for you.

WATSON: I`d read all three, actually, before I started auditioning. I was a huge, huge fan.

HAMMER: And magically, you became her.

WATSON: I know. I got the part.

HAMMER: Are you into the technology at all? You know, the special effects and the stunts are so amazing. And in this film, they really go crazy with them.

WATSON: Yes, amazing. I have to say, you know, the Quidditch World Cup, I was completely astounded by. Look out for that in the film, because it`s breathtaking. I had no idea what that was going to look like, but the whole stadium that they created, and the flying in it is fantastic on the brooms.

HAMMER: We know that there are going to be seven books all told when J.K. is done writing them. And Daniel Racliffe shared with me an idea of what he thinks may happen with Harry. What`s your sense of what might happen with Harry or Hermione?

WATSON: I have to say, I kind of agree with Dan. I have a really nasty feeling that Voldemort can`t keep on existing while Harry is alive. I think Voldemort is going to die. But I think he`s going to bring Harry down with him.

HAMMER: Really?

WATSON: It`s sad.

HAMMER: Really sad.

WATSON: But I think it`s going to happen. And I think -- I really hope that Hermione and Ron get together in the end.

HAMMER: OK.

WATSON: I think -- I think that -- I think they make a good couple.

HAMMER: There`s no running away from the fact that -- and you may be aware of this. Fans of Harry Potter, there are certain affectionate fans of Harry Potter who are quite obsessive.

WATSON: Yes.

HAMMER: They are over the top, into every aspect of it. Does that ever become a problem for you?

WATSON: It can be a little bit creepy at times, yes.

HAMMER: What`s a creepy thing that has happened that you`d want to share? Aside from marriage proposals.

WATSON: Aside from marriage proposals. You know, they`ve had my home phone numbers, my mom`s work number, my dad`s work number. My mobile numbers. I`ve had to change my mobile five times or so. They found my house. They follow me everywhere. But you know, I suppose it just comes with it.

HAMMER: You`re learning how to deal with it, though.

WATSON: Yes.

HAMMER: Well, I know in February, you begin filming the next movie. What do you see for yourself as life beyond Potter? What are you aspiring to do? Is acting the way you`re going to do, because it`s all you`ve done in the last five years?

WATSON: True. I want to finish my education. I`m going to take my intervals (ph), and I want to go to university. In between that and my holidays and stuff, I would definitely like to try something else. I wouldn`t want Harry Potter to be the last thing that I do.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Emma Watson also told me that she`s looking forward to a long acting career after she completes the "Harry Potter" movies.

Remember, it is Harry Potter mania all this week on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Tomorrow, Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. And Friday, we`re live at "The Goblet of Fire" premiere -- we`re live as "The Goblet of Fire" hits theaters.

As we reported earlier, the trio took over "Jimmy Kimmel" last night for what was billed as their swan song. I sat down with them right before they taped the show. They talked about one of their biggest passions. And it`s not music. Beyonce responded to the pregnancy rumors. And they also opened up about dealing with the paparazzi and the tabloids.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: So many people are fascinating by all of you, your personal lives. How do you deal with the barrage of rumors and innuendo, tabloid pictures and stories that are out there constantly?

MICHELLE WILLIAMS, SINGER: The key for our sanity is, you know, not to read -- definitely not read it and don`t feed into it.

ANDERSON: Many people are hounded by the paparazzi, many celebrities. Are you guys, and how do you deal with it?

BEYONCE KNOWLES, SINGER: Sometimes. We just deal with it. It`s just our lives. And we were prepared. They have to do their jobs. I know we all understand how the business works. And it`s not personal. That`s how they get paid. That`s their hustle. They do what they do. We do what we do.

ANDERSON: I want to set the record straight for a couple of rumors that are floating out there right now, Beyonce. Are you expecting a baby?

KNOWLES: No.

ANDERSON: Are you married to Jay-Z?

KNOWLES: No.

ANDERSON: Are you engaged?

KNOWLES: No.

ANDERSON: That`s great. That`s all I needed.

JIMMY KIMMEL, HOST, ABC`s "JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE": We have abandoned our format for a fond farewell to Destiny`s Child tonight.

ANDERSON: Is this really the end?

KNOWLES: We said it`s probably the last record we`ll record together. But definitely, we plan on performing together again and still being in each other`s lives.

(MUSIC)

ANDERSON: "Stand up for Love," it`s the official song for World Children`s Day this year. And also regarded as a song of hope for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. What does this song mean to you?

WILLIAMS: This song was created to inspire and touch lives of so many people. I know it touched us. It`s definitely done to give hope and let people know that a brighter day is coming.

(MUSIC)

ANDERSON: Why is it important for you to work with children`s causes?

KNOWLES: You feel like you need to do something and take advantage of that celebrity. And I know we thought this was wonderful, because it`s something we`re passionate about. And they -- those kids have given us a purpose beyond just singing and performing.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: And for more information on World Children`s Day at McDonald`s, go to RMHC.org.
