Washington Needs To Take Iran`s President At His Word, He Promises `A World Without the United States and Zionism`

Aired August 24, 2006 - 19:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

GLENN BECK, HEADLINE NEWS ANCHOR: What a surprise. Washington once again playing politics, this time with Iran, while we could be vaporized. Plus, tonight the original hate monger, Pat Buchanan is here to tell us how illegal immigrants are hi-jacking our country`s soul, and he`s right.
ANNOUNCER: Tonight`s episode is brought to you by Glenn`s Bull Crap to English Dictionary. If you follow politics, but don`t speak bull crap, buy Glenn`s Bull Crap to English Dictionary.

BECK: I need you to listen and read these words very, very carefully, "The annihilation of the Zionist regime will come. Israel must be wiped off the map. And God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism", end quote. That, my friend, is a quote from the president of Iran.

So today, there`s a congressional report, it came out I think yesterday afternoon. It says we need more hard evidence on Iran. Really? I thought that last quote was pretty compelling. You know, Iran wants to vaporize us. Now, the pinheads in Washington are playing politics with it. The Republicans are saying, you`d better pay attention to this. Democrats are saying, all right, please, everybody, just calm down.

You want to know why I take the words of President Tom so seriously; while he might sound crazy, if you remember back in the 1980s, another guy sounded crazy too, when he said things like that, Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan sounded crazy to the Soviets when he called them an evil empire. President Tom, just like President Reagan is not bluffing when he promises his people that he will take this empire down.

You know what, look at the cover of this report, that was out. This is the congressional report. See here, is President Tom, he is standing behind a podium that says "A World Without Zionism." Now if you look here, can we bring this up? This is what`s behind him. This is a creepy hourglass, with down at the bottom, this represents the United States. It`s in pieces. You really think these guys are on the up and up?

Look, the point is, there are two kinds of people. There are the kinds of people that make threats and those who make promises. You know the difference in your own lives. If you`re a parent, and you have a kid who is misbehaving, you tell them, you better stop or you`re going to get punished.

The kid will keep misbehaving if you are the kind of parent that never lives up to your promise. You`re just making empty threats. I`m going to spank you, and then you never do. Now when you`re dealing with crazy people, they don`t make threats -- they make promises. You need to take them at their word.

Let me give you another example. Let`s suppose Captain Highpants, that`s what we call the guy who said he raped and killed JonBenet -- let`s say Captain Highpants moves into your neighborhood. Whether he`s guilty or not, with JonBenet, you go in the backyard and he`s over the fence and he says, Hey, Bill, good to see you. By the way, you`re eight-year old daughter is really hot. I`m going to rape her tonight. If he were my neighbor and said that, I`d wouldn`t take that as an empty threat. I`d take that as a promise. Of course, I would probably beat him to death with a shovel after that, but that`s a different story.

The same thing applies to Iran. The United Nations, they make threats, they don`t make promise. They make threats. "Oh, you`d better stop making those nukes by the end of the month, or there`ll be sanctions." No there`s not. You know it and I know it. I guarantee you, there will be no sanctions. Their bluffs always get called, and that`s why the U.N. is so useless.

But back in 1997, Osama bin Laden, he promised us. He promised us he would strike at the heart of the United States and four years later, he made good on that promise. So when President Tom promises that soon, we will experience a world without America, I`m telling you, he means it.

So, here`s what I know tonight, all the donkeys and elephants in Washington, would you please shut up and stop playing politics. Or, you know what, America is going to put you in the freakin` zoo. If you don`t, American are going to say, you know what, we gave you the opportunity to lead and just like the Minutemen, some will stand up and say, you know what, you failed us. Now it`s our turn to lead.

I also know, I`ve done enough homework on these guys to know they are a genuine threat. They`re the real reason we went to Iraq, not weapons of mass destruction, that was good, that was just a sidelight. We went there to crush the head of the snake.

If you want to know more about Iran, next week, I`m going to do a series called "Iran 101." We`ll tell you everything you need to know about these guys. It is not about left versus right, this is about right versus wrong. I`ll give you the information. You decide. Are they friends or foes?

Here`s what I don`t know, I don`t know if we have the leaders in Washington that will see us through this crisis. Our leaders, they`re spineless, selfish jellyfish in wing-tipped shoes and red ties. The only thing they worry about is getting their freaking party elected. We need to find the Churchills of this generation, we need you now.

I also, I don`t know, if President Tom will succeed in making his promise come true. The only way he won`t is if we wake up. But our intelligence community is afraid of it`s own shadow. But, you know what, don`t take my word for it, former CIA director, James Woolsey -- he`s here with us tonight.

Am I wrong on this, Jim?

JAMES WOOLSEY, FMR. CIA DIRECTOR: No, I think the thrust of what you`re saying is on the money. You know, you`re right about Ahmadinejad. He`s like Hitler. Hitler wrote "Mein Kampf" and he said he was going to establish a 1,000-year Reich and kill all the Jews.

BECK: Right.

WOOLSEY: And people said he`s crazy, so.

BECK: Right.

WOOLSEY: It`s just talk. But it wasn`t just talk. And Ahmadinejad is waiting for the hidden imam to return from the eighth century because he thinks that will help him bring about an end to the world. This guy is really far out there, but he`s far out there in his objectives. It doesn`t mean that he`s not shrewd.

Hitler was a really shrewd operator in the `30s, and this guy, you know, the Persians invented chess, and the rulers there in Iran are moving their pieces like Hezbollah and Hamas and Moqtad (ph) al Sadr in Iraq in order to protect their queen, which is their nuclear weapons program.

BECK: We could find ourselves in a position of inaction because our intelligence community -- because of what happened this Iraq -- freaked out, right? They`re afraid of their own shadow.

WOOLSEY: Well, it`s complicated. I think that they have an inclination to talk too much just to what they call controlled assets, that is spies that they`ve recruited and pay. And what they call liaison officers, that is intelligence officers, and friendly intelligence services. And that`s a pretty small share of the world.

A lot of people have a reluctance to do what you were just doing, which is read what Ahmadinejad says and take him seriously. He`s got a strategic advisor, named Abase (ph) who says there are 29 sites in America and in the West, which if we take them down we`ll destroy the Anglo-Saxons. You know, there`s some very serious threats against our existing, in Iran today.

BECK: They are absolutely serious. So when you look at all of this stuff and if you were sitting there in your former position, you go into the Oval Office, and you would say what? Mr. President today you must -- fill in the blank.

WOOLSEY: Well, directors of Central Intelligence normally don`t give policy advice, and they really shouldn`t. They ought to say here`s how I see it, as distinct to, what you ought to do.

But I think what`s important is that both on the Sunni side of the great divide within Islam, by Al Qaeda and the Wahabis (ph), actually, in Saudi Arabia and the on Shiite side, with Ahmadinejad and the others, there are fanatic movements that are rooted in this world`s great religion. And we haven`t figured out how to deal with theological totalitarianism. We haven`t had to face that in many years. Now, during the Cold War, the Soviets were cynics, their ideology was dead. These are not dead ideologies in what the president calls Islamic fascism.

BECK: So what do we do? What would you be recommending?

WOOLSEY: We`ve got to do a bunch of things.

BECK: OK.

WOOLSEY: One is that we ought to -- I think try to make sure people understand that we`re going to have to combat this kind of ideology much more strongly than we had to deal with the soviet ideology, during the Cold War. This is real trouble because there are young men in streets of Riyadh, and Cairo and some few in Britain and maybe even a few here in the United States that are really signed on to that fanaticism. And it`s a very, very serious problem.

BECK: Sir, I --

WOOLSEY: I think we need to move away from oil.

BECK: Sir, I really only have 10 seconds. If I could get a yes or no answer from you. If we fail in destroying this, globally, do you believe it`s the end of the West?

WOOLSEY: Maybe not the end, but it would be a huge blow to us and we`re going to be struggling with this for decades

BECK: Jim Woolsey, thank you very much, former CIA Director.

Coming up in a second, Pat Buchanan. But first, the problem with this House committee report, I mean, a lot of people would like to read it. You`ll find it at Glennbeck.com. But it`s a little stiff. It`s good stuff, but let`s soup it up a little bit.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANNOUNCER: One of the most compelling new reports in recent memory is now a hit Broadway musical. It`s the House Intelligence Committee Report, starring Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, with original choreography by Tommy Tune.

The House Intelligence Committee Report is joyous, exhilarating, hilarious. See what all the critics are raving about before it`s too late.

(NUCLEAR EXPLOSION)

Whoops, too late.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BECK: Do you know two B-1 bombers, the stealth bomber -- you buy two of those, and you can put a high tech -- I mean an Israeli style fence from coast to coast across our borders? You know, for me, buy two less planes. Let`s build a frickin` fence.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BECK: Earlier this week, I told you about the five-part plan that might lead to the end of the West. I called it my "Perfect Storm." One of the elements of that perfect storm is illegal immigration. It`s still a great way for terrorists to come here and mess with us. But even if that doesn`t happen -- at the very least, illegal immigrants are attacking our culture, and our way of life. They are not melting in to our melting pot. They`re here for the cash. Pat Buchanan -- a pioneer in being labeled a hatemonger, one of the first, I believe -- writes about this and more in his chilling new book "State of Emergency, the Third World Invasion and Conquest of America."

Pat, welcome to the program

PAT BUCHANAN, AUTHOR, "STATE OF EMERGENCY": Thank you very much, Glenn.

BECK: Let`s talk firs about culture, because this is the simplest way. We`ve got all these threats coming from overseas but the simplest way is for us to loose the culture of the West, is just to do nothing and let illegal immigrants not melt in and take the culture away from us.

BUCHANAN: The road to culture is language. And there`s no doubt about it in the southwest -- Los Angeles now, something like 5 million of the 9 million people don`t even speak English in their own homes. Many of the Hispanics coming in now, they`re patriotic Mexicans, they want to keep their Spanish language and culture and music, and Glenn, when that happens over a period of time -- and the numbers are so enormous, and there`s no melting pot ideology anymore in America, what you`re going to have is two languages, two cultures, and eventually two countries.

BECK: Let me play devil`s advocate with you. My wife`s family, Italian, and when they came over here, the kids learned Italian, but a lot of the old, you know, folks didn`t learn English. You know what I mean? They came over and the kids learned English, everybody else stayed --

BUCHANAN: Did your grandparents think that Italy owned the Eastern United States, and it had been stolen from them.

BECK: Yes.

BUCHANAN: And they were going to get it back and 58 percent of them, like 58 percent of Mexicans now believe the Southwest belongs to them, the Italian government wasn`t sending Italians over for a reconquista of any part of the United States?

BECK: Are you claiming that the -- that Mexico is sending people over here?

BUCHANAN: Pushing them.

BECK: The government is sending them?

BUCHANAN: Vicente Fox says they are heroes. They`re given maps, they give them cartoons. How to get by the border patrol. How to get to the welfare office. What they`re doing is they`re removing the social revolutionary pressure on themselves, move the illegals into the United States, they send back $20 billion in remittances. They tell the illegals, become American citizens and vote Mexico`s interests in the United States.

What I`m saying is, we`ve got a fifth column here, European Americans are leaving California and in an amount of time by 2050 this will be so Mexican, it will be like Kosovo is to Serbia, and we will loose the Southwest, not militarily, ethnically, linguistically, socially and culturally.

BECK: Pretty heavy charge to level against --

BUCHANAN: It`s not a charge, it`s what`s happening.

BECK: Let me take you here. Our government, not really doing anything, which you look at them, and you ask yourself, there`s only two options here. They`re either stupid or they`re complicit. Which is it?

BUCHANAN: They are complicit. President of the United States, basically, agrees with Vicente Fox. The Constitution obligates him to defend the States of the Union from an invasion. When this president himself says we stopped 6 million illegal aliens at the border, one in 12 had a criminal record, and we don`t know whether 2 or 3 or 4 million got in, in his tenure of office, what in heaven`s name is that if not an invasion?

You know, we`ve got in the United States probably I would say Italians are the second largest immigrant group. We have 12 million illegal aliens more than twice as many of all the Italians who ever came to America. If that`s not an invasion, I don`t know what is.

BECK: So what is the -- why is everybody in the government complicit? What is their motivation?

BUCHANAN: I`ve got a chapter why the paralysis? I tried to think it all through, why? First they are powerful economic forces. Corporations obviously want the cheap labor. You don`t want to go abroad to hire people. Unions say, look, we lost the industrial jobs. We can organize all these service workers here. The churches are into the social gospel. The ideologues want to remove barriers and borders. The Mexican government wants to remove borders between the United States and enter into a North American union. This is what Vicente Fox has said. All of these forces --

BECK: Canada and President Bush has also said --

BUCHANAN: They`re all there. And the president of the United States is scared, he thinks that Pete Wilson killed the Republican Party in California, because of Prop 187, when it saved Wilson and the Republican Party in California. And so they will not enforce the law because they say this will antagonize the one minority block we can get, and we need one of them because the white Americans who have been the base of the Republican Party are shrinking, we`re not 89 percent of the population as we were in 1960, we`re 67 percent, mid century we`ll be at 47 percent and sinking.

BECK: You know how this works. I have 10 seconds. Is there a solution?

BUCHANAN: There`s a solution in my book, final chapter.

BECK: One that would actually work, that doesn`t require Washington to --

BUCHANAN: A 2,000 mile border fence all along the entire border, start punishing businesses that hire illegals, a national Prop 187, no welfare benefits except in emergency, reinterpret the 14th Amendment. You can sneak in this country and have your baby, your baby`s not a citizen.

BECK: Pat Buchanan, thank you, sir.

BUCHANAN: Thank you, Glenn.

BECK: Keep up the good work.

BECK: Every day you can hear my radio show on stations all across America including 560 WGAN in Portland, Mine, and 1180 WHAM in Rochester.

Let`s go now to San Antonio; very good friend of mine, Joe Pegs, who does mornings on 1200 WOAI, in San Antone.

Joe, there`s something happening at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston. Can you fill me in on this?

JOE "PAGS" PAGLIARULO, 1200 WOAI, SAN ANTONIO: This is the craziest thing, Glenn.

At the courthouse there was some sort of a monument erected in 1956. So, you know, 50 years ago this went up for a philanthropist in town. He did all sorts of great stuff and there was a Bible involved in the top of this thing. Now in the 1990s somebody decided to refurbish it, and add a little neon light to this Bible area, so you can see it better.

Oh, man, that caused people to have a fit. Especially one woman, Encase Daily, she says that she walked past this monument, saw the lighted Bible, and she was offended by the Bible, this breaks her First Amendment constitutional rights. How dare they push their religion on top of her? She fought it, and if you can believe it or not, last week, Glenn, two judges out of three in a federal court decided that because that neon light was added, it went from secular to religious, it had to be removed, the Bible has been out of there for a while.

BECK: Joe, can you tell me, how sweet must your life be, if you can`t sleep at night because that little Bible has been lit. I mean, how sweet is your life, you`ve got no problems. I`m way to busy and riddled with problems to worry about a lit Bible some place. PAGLIARULO: I think the bottom like is that this woman is not religious at all, in her personal life, which I don`t care. She`s allowed to not be religious. So if she, in fact, doesn`t believe in anything isn`t that just a bunch of papers and some ink sitting there? How does that offend her?

BECK: I`ve got to tell you, I think atheism is a religion. Let`s go to something else that`s insane in Texas, and that`s Dallas is trying to ban baggy pants.

PAGLIARULO: You`re not going to believe this. The Dallas Independent School District, I think, did the right thing. They said kids can`t go to school with pants that ride halfway down the butts of their student. I`m all for uniforms in public schools.

BECK: Me, too.

PAGLIARULO: Take the distraction out of there. Makes perfect sense.

Now they decided you can`t walk down the street and wear those pants either. I don`t know if you`re familiar with these, I`m actually wearing them right now, we can`t pan the camera, though. It`s weird.

But these are actually, they ride about halfway down your butt, but your boxer shorts stick out up on top, so it`s not obscene. It`s ugly, it`s stupid, it`s bad fashion, I`d never do it, you`d never do it, but do we really want the government to tell us what we can and can`t wear. How long until they say, Glenn, you can`t wear that tie.

BECK: I don`t know. Probably pretty soon, but that`s a different story.

And finally my favorite story of the day. Chicago.

PAGLIARULO: This guy, he`s planning on going to a trip to Turkey with his mother. He thinks he`s going to get lucky while he`s there, hopefully not with his mother. So, he takes with him, what`s being described as -- how was it described, Glenn? -- a sex tool.

BECK: Penis pump. You can say it.

PAGLIARULO: Do we have to say it?

BECK: Go ahead, show it.

PAGLIARULO: Not that I know what that is.

BECK: There`s one. One of those is a bomb, the other one is a penis pump.

PAGLIARULO: It`s important to say which one is the bomb, and which one is da bomb for this guy -- it`s because he gets caught in line trying to get on a plane with this device either on him or --

BECK: Whatever.

PAGLIARULO: In his carry on -- however. And because he doesn`t want the embarrassment of his mom to know what it is, he looks at the TSA and says, not to worry, it`s a bomb.

Now we`ve got his mother in the back room, as he`s being questioned you had a penis and you said to everybody it was a bomb? What`s wrong with you?

Joe, thanks a lot. Appreciate it.

PAGLIARULO: See you, Glenn.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

BECK: All right. Welcome to "The Real Story," where we try to cut through the media spin and try to figure out why a story is actually important to you.

Now, I know I`ve been doing a lot of talking about Iran lately. And to most people, it probably seems like Iran has just come out of nowhere and all of a sudden is this big threat overnight. To some who are even more cynical, they believe that this so-called threat was just made up recently to help raise the Republican poll numbers.

But the real story is that Iran has been on the U.S. radar for a very long time. I actually believe that President Bush has had a strategy in mind to deal with these guys within months of September 11th.

So what I would like to do tonight is try to explain exactly what I think that strategy is and, hopefully, by the end, you`ll see what I see, which was a vision for a new Middle East that was hatched a long time ago. Let me start here with a couple of quotes from a speech that the president gave on February 26, 2003. This was about three weeks before the start of the Iraqi war.

The first quote: "A liberated Iraq can show the power of freedom to transform that vital region, by bringing hope and progress into the lives of millions."

Quote number two: "A new regime in Iraq would serve as a dramatic and inspiring example of freedom for other nations in the region." Now, you`re probably thinking, "Hold on, he never even used the word Iran."

You`re right. And I`ve searched the entire speech, and never once did he mention Iran. But now I want you to listen to a clip from my radio show -- this is from a show that I did two days after the president gave that speech back in 2003.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

BECK: When you listen to George W. Bush, you kind of have to read between the lines. I`ve said over and over again that he can`t say everything. He cannot say to people, "Well, actually, we`re going after Iran by going into Iraq." He can`t say that. You have to do the math on your own time.

We`re not going in to occupy Iran. We`re squeezing Iran. We`re letting the people turn that, because the people want democracy. They`re there. But they need support, and they need some people around them. And we`ve already put something on one side in Afghanistan, and we`re now putting them on the other side in Iraq. And we`re planting the seeds of democracy.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BECK: Hear me clearly: This has never just been about Iraq and WMDs. It has always been about changing the face of the Middle East. But the president has done such a horrible job of communicating that idea, and instead he focused everybody on weapons of mass destruction, that now to come out and say that, he has absolutely no credibility.

Look, if you`re the president and you`re sitting there in the Oval Office in 2003, and you`re looking at Iran, you see a country that you believe is the head of the snake, and it`s a country where the people love you and democracy, but the leadership hates you, what do you do? How do you deal with it?

Well, you`ve got a couple of choices. Your first one is to impose sanctions. You could cut off all of the food and the money and everything else, but that`s the last thing you really want to do, because that`s the only thing that could actually turn the people of Iran into your enemy, as well, not just the leadership.

Your second choice is a military option, but, I mean, that wouldn`t have worked for a couple of big reasons. The first one: There`s no way the president could have made the case for war. Look how much trouble he had with Iraq, and there you`re talking about a dictator who had repeatedly defied the U.N.

But, b, and more importantly, the president couldn`t go after Iran at that time because that was an Islamic-run state and it would have set the entire Middle East on fire instantly and the charges of, "This war is a war is against Islam," would have been believed by most, if not everybody, in the Middle East. Not to mention that Saddam Hussein would have been the first to fill that power vacuum in Iran. He had to go first.

So what do you do, sitting back in 2003? Well, I think that the president figured out that the best people to change Iran are the people of Iran. Let them do the job. We just needed to provide them with a tipping point, something that made them finally decide to rise up, and that`s why we went into Iraq.

The tipping point is democracy. You let the people of Iran hear the knocking of democracy on their front door in Iraq and their back door in Afghanistan, you let them see how close freedom really is and that we will protect them if they rise up, only then would they have the courage to stand up to their regime, which has always meant certain execution in the past.

Remember the words of the president on the eve of war. A new regime in Iraq would serve as a dramatic and inspiring example of freedom for other nations in the region. You`ve got to read between the lines.

Farid Ghadry, he is the president of the Reform Party in Syria. Farid, welcome back to the program.

FARID GHADRY, PRESIDENT, REFORM PARTY OF SYRIA: Thank you for having me back again.

BECK: I thought to myself for the last few years, why has the president not given a Ronald Reagan moment to the people of -- you know, when he spoke right to the people of Poland, "Rise up," why hasn`t he done that to the people of Iran?

GHADRY: Well, I think he`s done it every time the president goes out of his way to speak about democracy and freedom in the Middle East, and he mentions Iran, he mentions Syria, he mentions Lebanon. He is, in fact, encouraging the reformist in those countries.

You cannot imagine the energy that we get every time the president speaks of freedom and democracy in that part of the world. And this is something that`s not very much known by the American public and possibly maybe the White House, the administration, some of them do. And I think the president has been extremely helpful in that regard, and we hope that he will continue on that path.

BECK: We talked yesterday about him, you know, passing a statement that says that we want regime change in Iran. You know, I would hope that we would be able to do that. I don`t see that on the horizon. What would that mean to us, if we actually did that? How would the clerics and President Tom react to that?

GHADRY: Well, I think the moment the president seeks regime change in Syria and Iran, I think you will embolden tremendously the reformist movement, the reformist leaders inside and outside the country, and also the people of Iran. Why? Because the people of Iran will figure out immediate this is a sinking ship, and they will have to take sides.

And you know what happens when a ship sinks? Everybody leaves that ship. So I think it`s really in the hands of the president of the United States. The moment he says regime change in Iran and Syria are a possibility or we would like to have a regime change, you`re going to see a critical mass immediately that will eventually lead to deposing those dictators.

BECK: The worst possible scenario is us to put boots on the ground, because if I read this situation right, the people don`t want us to free them. They like democracy, they like the idea of it, they like the idea of what we have, but they do not want us in their country putting boots on the ground. Am I wrong or right?

GHADRY: You are right in that regard, and I, as a Syrian, do not want boots on the ground, either. However, we do need support of all kinds other than just military support. And that comes in the idea that we need to support reformists, not only morally, but financially, as well.

BECK: Yes, let me ask you. What would you think of the idea of becoming the reverse, I mean, the good version of Hezbollah? Hezbollah comes into a neighborhood, they provide schools and everything else. What about becoming the reverse, the good side of Hezbollah?

GHADRY: That`s very perceptive, Greg. I think, you know, you have to look at why and how Hezbollah became successful. And if you actually can help the reformists in that part of the Middle East duplicate what Hezbollah has done, and do the reverse, and help them in building schools, and help them in building clinics, and help them in smuggling and supporting -- smuggling money to the country and supporting poor families, you`re going to see a lot of people, a lot of reformists becoming very, very powerful leaders in that part of the world. And that will pull the rug and the carpet from under Ahmadinejad and Assad of Syria. And I think it`s a great idea.

BECK: Farid, thank you very much. I appreciate it.

GHADRY: Thank you for having me.

BECK: That is "The Real Story" tonight. Now, if you see something on TV and you`re sitting to yourself and you`re thinking, "How did they completely miss that?" I want you to e-mail it to me, along with what you think the real story is. Send it to gregbeck -- no, I`m sorry, it is GlennBeck@CNN.com. That`s GlennBeck@CNN.com. Back in a minute.

(NEWSBREAK)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BECK: Instead of asking him the standard questions that they get, you know the ones, "So tell me how great you are, Mr. Republican or Mr. Democrat," you know, and then he answers, "Well, I`m actually really great. I`m for education, you know? Us and our party, we love the children, and I`m for stopping the terrorists. And I`m for healthy people, and I`m against people being unhealthy and poor."

Yes, well, that sounds great. I mean, are you really for healthy people? Absolutely. I believe all people should be in a constant state of healthiness, and it`s an important basic human right to live in that state of healthiness. And that`s the kind of B.S. that you hear almost everywhere, and that`s the kind of B.S. that I would like to avoid like the plague.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BECK: All right. If you look up the word "stereotype" in the dictionary, you will see it defined as conventional or over-simplified conception, opinion or image. But if you run that definition through my bull crap-to-English dictionary that I was just talking about there in that radio clip, you`ll find that stereotype -- I mean, it`s stuff that a lot of people believe in because sometimes they`re really true.

Either way, the politically correct world we live in, a world where, you know, I can`t even show a picture of a missing student because he`s Egyptian, "Oh, don`t, what, you hate all Arabs?" No, it doesn`t allow you to publicly talk about stereotypes or sensitive questions about age or race or religion. You can`t even say anything about it or just ask an honest question.

It`s not very often that questions like, "How come Asians are so good at math?" "Or have you ever noticed, Jews, they`re all good at making money?" You can`t say those things out in the open. But for our next guest, answering those kinds of questions and dealing with just the on- fire, inflammatory responses that they cause are this guy`s life.

Phillip Milano is -- oh, jeez, with a name like Milano, you must be in organized crime?

PHILLIP MILANO, AUTHOR, "I CAN`T BELIEVE YOU ASKED THAT": Yes, oh, absolutely.

BECK: You`re the writer of "Dare to Ask." What is the point of this column?

MILANO: Well, "Dare to Ask," Glenn, like my book, "I Can`t Believe You Asked That," it`s a chance for people to ask those kinds of taboo cultural questions that we all wish we could ask but we`re so afraid of offending in this P.C. world that, you know, we dance around it, as you were saying earlier.

BECK: I have one. I`m going to get to some of the questions that have already been asked, but I`ve got one that drives me out of my mind. I work at Radio City in midtown Manhattan, and up by the doors, you know, like where the office kitchen is, in Braille on the wall it says "kitchen." A blind person would have to be feeling all of the walls to find "kitchen." Just to piss them off, I`m going to put in Braille on the coffee pot, I`m going to put, "Pot is hot."

MILANO: Well, the question I`ve gotten is, why is Braille on drive-up ATMs?

BECK: Well, why?

MILANO: Well, a blind person, a person driving, would be pretty much of a tragedy, wouldn`t it? Well, you`ve heard of a little thing called the Americans with Disabilities Act, right?

BECK: Yes.

MILANO: Well, this mandated that things be made accessible to everyone. And so back in the day, the banks had the ATM makers show this Braille on the keys. Well, Glenn, is that going to help if you can`t see or read what`s on the screen telling you what to do? No.

BECK: No.

MILANO: Well, nowadays they have created voice, you know, technology where a blind person can plug a headphone in and hear what`s going on.

BECK: Oh, well, you have...

(CROSSTALK)

MILANO: But as far as drive-throughs...

BECK: ... blind person has to find the little jack for the headphones.

MILANO: There are some blind people though, Glenn, who do work and who might, let`s say, take a taxi to work. They don`t want to give their PIN number to the taxi driver, so this was kind of designed for that small, small, vocal group that...

(LAUGHTER)

(CROSSTALK)

MILANO: ... want that kind of accessibility.

BECK: That very small group. All right, you`ve actually done some research. I hear you actually have a real answer on why people like me cannot dance.

MILANO: Well, and people like me, too, Glenn. I talked with -- I`ve gotten that question, "Why can`t white people dance?" I`ve talked with exceedingly white dancing phenom Wade Robson. And let`s face it: A lot of white people don`t grow up going to clubs, watching hip-hop movies, and that sort of thing, so this isn`t sort of hard-wired or built into them. We go to get lessons, right? We go to get lessons, so we`re more regimented.

But look at a person like Taylor Hicks from "American Idol." Wade Robson said, "It doesn`t matter if you`re a great dance, as long as you have passion." Taylor Hicks looked kind of like a geek out there, but he was loving what he was doing, so people loved him.

BECK: No, no, you know, if I`ve ever gone out, and if my wife was like, "Come on, let`s dance," as soon as I go out and feel the passion, "OK, sit down, sit down, you`re embarrassing me."

MILANO: You just don`t have it from the hip. You don`t have it from the hip.

BECK: You`re exactly right. Phillip, thank you very much.

Let`s check in now with Nancy Grace and see what she`s got coming up - - Nancy?

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Glenn, tonight more bombshells in the case of John Mark Karr, the number-one suspect in the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. Revelations into his personality. Did he brag to former housemates that he preferred girls to women? Also, he is now in Colorado. We go live for the latest on his date with Lady Justice.

BECK: Don`t forget, you can check out Nancy tonight at 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. Eastern.

ANNOUNCER: Each week, tens of thousands of you download Glenn`s podcasts. Some of you have been critiquing his performance. Well, this week, Glenn has a few words he wants to say back.

BECK: Jay, we clicked on your name to find out what other podcasts you watch.

ANNOUNCER: "Ask Glenn," download it on iTunes or at CNN.com/Glenn.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

BECK: A lot of people that watch this program know me from the radio show that I do, and I have one of the greatest audiences, I think, out there. They`re some of the most generous people that I have ever met. Time and time again, I`ll tell stories of, you know, people in need, and the audience just steps up. And they have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars, from everything from Hurricane Katrina relief to the USO.

And you, this audience, seems to be of the same makeup. A couple of weeks ago, we aired a story about Doreen Kenny. She is the mother of a fallen soldier, Jacob Fletcher.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BECK (voice-over): After Jacob`s death, it would have been easy for Doreen to stop sending packages and try to move past losing her son and somehow go on. Doreen Kenny did just the opposite. To date, she`s sent over 61,000 pounds of supplies to soldiers. Honoring her son, her efforts have been named the Jacob`s Light Foundation.

DOREEN KENNY, MOTHER OF SLAIN SOLDIER: Knowing that the soldiers over there are having a little bit easier through the work we do, and it`s really kept me alive.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BECK: You know, ever since we aired that piece, e-mails have poured in.

Jim wrote in and said, "Glenn, the show on Monday, August 7th, is the best hour of news TV I have ever viewed. Your analysis of the events covered were spot on, and the segment on Doreen Kenny was heart-wrenching. My $500 check to Jacob`s Light Foundation will be in the mail tomorrow, followed by monthly checks of $100."

Jill in New York writes, "Glenn, what a wonderful segment about a brave woman. Your very emotional reaction had me all choked up. Thanks for asking if we can be anti-war and pro-troops all at once, because I am. I`ll see you on the TV, you sick freak."

This one comes in from Indiana. "My name is Heather. I`m 21. I love your show. I think we as Americans need to see more true stories like the Jacob`s Light Foundation. It motivated me and I hope others to support our troops who are over fighting for our freedom and our rights. Thank you."

You can go to CNN.com/Glenn. You`re going to find the video there and more information on how to help out. So far with that one story, Jacob`s Light has raised over $60,000 from this audience alone to help send care packages to the people who are caring for us on the other side of the globe.

Thank you so much for making sure that they know that we are still thinking of them, and we keep them in our hearts and our prayers every single night.

We`ll see you on the radio show tomorrow. It is "Clothesline Friday," which, you know, is a little less tolerant. And I`m riddled with ADD, so if you start to bore the audience or me, I just hang up on you at the drop of a hat. "Clothesline Friday," tomorrow on the radio. We`ll see you then, you sick freak.
