Aired July 23, 2007 - 23:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

BROOKE ANDERSON, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT ANCHOR: The Faith Hill photo that is blowing the lid off of what magazines really do to the images we see every day.
And Kelly Clarkson sets the record straight. Is she really in a feud with Clive Davis (ph)? I`m Brooke Anderson in New York. TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, Lindsay turns herself in. What charges will Lindsay Lohan face? Could she be looking at time behind bars if she is convicted?

Plus, a very controversial theory that Lindsay may actually be the victim in all of this. Yes, you heard me right. Tonight, Lindsay Lohan faces the music.

Saying good-bye to Tammy Faye Messner, the last shocking interview with Tammy Faye, her startling appearance, her unshakeable hope and faith. Tonight, Tammy Faye in her own words just days before her death.

Hi there everyone. I`m Brooke Anderson in New York. A.J. Hammer has the night off. Tammy Faye Messner went from televangelist to TV icon. Tonight, her friends come straight here to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT to tell us about the emotional last moments. You`ll also hear Tammy Faye`s last message to her fans, and you`ll hear what her ex-husband, televangelist Jim Baker, told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. That`s all coming up.

First, is Lindsay Lohan about to become the latest member of the Hollywood DUI club? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you tonight she is in legal limbo. Formal charges stemming from her recent car accident appear to be a certainty. While she deals with that, she`s also got the matter of her stalling movie career and her battle with sobriety. Can she do all that while staying a hot fixture on the party scene? Don`t bet against it.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON (voice-over): Lindsay Lohan has gone from the police station --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Lindsay Lohan has been booked on suspicion of DUI charges.

ANDERSON: To the Hollywood scene.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She hit two parties over the weekend.

ANDERSON: All in a weekend`s work for one of Hollywood`s most notorious bad girls. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you the very latest on how Lindsay is juggling her endangered movie career, lingering legal troubles and post rehab partying.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Clearly, she is back out on the party circuit.

ANDERSON: Who says young Hollywood starlets can`t multi-task? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you this TMZ.com video of Lohan sunning herself at a star studded bash in Malibu. Look closely for a peek of Lindsay`s latest accessory, the alcohol monitoring bracelet she`s been wearing voluntarily on her ankle ever since leaving rehab, and effort to show the world she is serious about staying sober.

MIKE FLEEMAN, "PEOPLE MAGAZINE": She is very proud of the fact she has emerged from rehab and she is remaining sober.

ANDERSON: Entertainment journalist David Caplan tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Lindsay`s ankle bracelet is doing just that.

DAVID CAPLAN, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: I`ve spoken to her friends and they say that every day she is being checked for alcohol. So far she has been clear. There`s never been any alcohol in her system.

ANDERSON: But before she partied in the sun, Lohan had to handle some serious business. She turned herself into police to be booked on suspicion of DUI in relation to this Memorial Day weekend crash. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has gotten hold of Lindsay`s booking sheets, which shows that she is now out on a 30,000 dollar bond. It`s a legal headache that now puts Lindsay in the league of famous recent DUI suspects Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.

CAPLAN: It`s really like how you pass and go to the next step in Hollywood. Get your DUI charges and now you have graduated on to the next level.

ANDERSON: This all comes as years of headlines of her hard partying and reported substance abuse are taking their toll on her career.

CAPLAN: Some of the films that Lindsay worked on very recently, she had a lot of trouble on set. She was out late partying the night before. And the producers of these films were like, hey, you need to stop. You need to slow down. We can`t make a film. A lot of people in Hollywood don`t want to work with her now because of this.

ANDERSON: A film Lohan was scheduled to make with Shirley McClain (ph) has been canceled. Even though financing problems are the official cause, people are still pointing their fingers at Lindsay.

CAPLAN: Movies get canceled all the time in Hollywood. But when Lindsay is there, all of a sudden it`s like she is in the hot seat. All eyes are on her saying this girl messes up partying.

ANDERSON: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you as Lindsay Lohan dries out, her movie career may not be completely drying up. Her new thriller, "I Know Who Killed Me," is her first post rehab attempt to get back on Hollywood`s A-list. People.com`s Mike Fleeman tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that Lohan is already preparing for her next movie about 1920s tango legend Carlos Gardell.

FLEEMAN: She is actually taking tango lessons with this ankle bracelet.

ANDERSON: So, as Lindsay dances and parties, her fans watch to see if she can successfully recover her career and her sobriety.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: Lindsay`s legal limbo may take more than movie star theatrics to overcome, but what kind of trouble is she actually facing and can she ever repair the damage to her image? Joining me tonight from Hollywood, criminal defense attorney Glenn Jonas and investigative journalist Pat Lalama. Welcome to you both.

Glen, the car crash happened over Memorial Day weekend. She went to rehab shortly after that. Now here we are more than six weeks later, six weeks that she surrenders to police. A lot of people are thinking what about that delay, Beverly Hills star treatment. Is that the case here?

GLEN JONAS, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: I don`t see this as star treatment. It`s common to have booking late in the process. Sometimes it happens after the arraignment.

ANDERSON: So it`s a very normal situation?

JONAS: It is normal.

ANDERSON: No preferential treatment here?

JONAS: No. When a suspect is in a hospital, it`s not uncommon for the officer to issue citation and take care of booking later.

ANDERSON: Rehab obviously the priority after that crash. Pat, as we said in our story, since Lindsay got out of rehab, she`s been wearing that alcohol monitoring bracelet. What do you think, is this a ploy to look good in front of the cameras, or are we seeing a new and improved Lindsay who really wants to take recovering seriously?

PAT LALAMA, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: You know, Brooke, I spoke at length today with Blair Brook, who is her attorney now, the newest celebrity to the stars, even though Blair does not like that title at all. She is a very serious and excellent lawyer. Here is what she wants people to know: number one, the whole business about turning herself in. It sort of makes it sound like there was some felony warrant out.

That`s not the case. As your other guest said, in this particular case, because the jails are so booked, because there`s so much going on from a paperwork point of view, they often times will say here is your citation. Show up. It`s up to you to show up. That`s what she did.

Also, it was at the Beverly Hills PD`s convenience, not her convenience. They set the appointment. And Lindsay is working today on her new movie and very, very serious. I do think she has a shot if she stays strong.

ANDERSON: Let`s hope so. You know it sounds like everything`s moving along very smoothly. Glen, it doesn`t sound like a minor incident. She crashed her car. She fled the scene. Police said she was over the legal alcohol limit. Police say they also found cocaine on the scene. There have to be consequences. What kind of trouble is this girl facing?

JONAS: She`ll definitely get a fine. Probably a six-month program, drinking driver education program. Her license will be suspended for a year. If I were the prosecutor, I would have her do Cal-Trans or community service, picking up trash along the freeway, that kind of thing. It makes much more impression on a defendant than jail time where you have early release or house arrest.

ANDERSON: You don`t think she will go to jail?

JONAS: I wouldn`t do it if I were the prosecutor. I think it`s an easy way out, believe it or not.

ANDERSON: Why?

JONAS: What happened to Paris is not the norm. Normally you get early release. You get house arrest. So there is no impact. If you are picking up trash eight hours a day for ten days, you are feeling it.

ANDERSON: Due to the overcrowding problem in the jails?

JONAS: Exactly.

ANDERSON: Pat, hours after she was fingerprinted, she heads out to party after party. What do you think? You say she has a chance. I hope she has a chance to really change her behavior, but what is it going to take? Going to rehab, getting arrested, that`s serious stuff. She`s out partying.

LALAMA: This is a big issue. It isn`t just Lindsay. It`s all the young people who come to Hollywood who are surrounded by yes people, who are afraid to say you are really damaging yourself. In fact, a lot of times they encourage the bad behavior. That`s number one. Number two, she clearly has a 12-step issue. That is a life-long, day-to-day battle.

Number three, she has parents who don`t parent. So these three things have to be taken into consideration. I think this girl is a decent soul. I think she is very attractive and pretty talented. I think she could have a future. She`s got to be surrounded by good, honest people. I think she`s got to start listening to them and make some decisions that are far removed from the kind of lifestyle she`s been leading.

ANDERSON: We`ve been hearing it from interventionists over and over; she`s got to purge those people who are bad influences from her life.

ANDERSON: Absolutely. But Brooke, the problem is a lot of those people are the people who are supposed to be helping her. The adults around her are not helping her.

ANDERSON: Relatives, people she pays. You`re right, it`s a difficult situation. Glen, her scheduled arraignment is August 24th. How does she avoid the crazy seen we saw when Paris Hilton was in court? Can she just phone this in? What can she do?

JONAS: No. Blair is a good lawyer. I expect she will advance the court date, meaning they are going to go in early. She doesn`t have to do it personally. They can do a notarized waiver. So I would bet you bottom dollar that Blair is on the phone with the prosecutor right now trying to work out a disposition. They are going to come in and do it quietly. The media is going to miss the show and they`ll find out about it afterwards.

ANDERSON: More of this legal wrangling may be playing out behind closed doors. Would it do her some good to address it publicly? Say hey, I made a mistake.

LALAMA: You know, I don`t think she`s been snotty about it. She`s got Blair Burke, who got Tracy Gold off on three felonies because she injured her own children. Blair is good. Blair will help set her straight. She`s shown that she is not a snotty little star who thinks she can get away with anything.

ANDERSON: Mostly importantly, hopefully going forward she can set a good example for those young impressionable kids out there. OK, investigative journalist Pat Lalama, criminal defense attorney Glen Jonas, thank you for your insight.

OK, now we want to hear from you. It`s our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Lindsay Lohan media scrutiny, can she get a fair shake? Vote at CNN.com/SHOWBIZTONIGHT. Send us an email, SHOWBIZTONIGHT@CNN.com.

Could Lindsay, Britney and Paris actually be -- listen to this -- poor little victims here? Yes, you heard me right. Coming up next, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT asks, are Hollywood`s party girls getting a bad rap because of prejudice. This is sure to get you thinking. Also this --

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TAMMY FAYE MESSNER, FORMER WIFE OF JIM BAKKER: I genuinely love you. And I genuinely care. And I genuinely want to see you in heaven some day. I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: So very sad. Tammy Faye Messner`s very last interview days before her dead. Straight ahead, Tammy Faye in her own words. Plus, I`ll be speaking with one of her dearest celebrity friends. And Faith Hill`s magazine cover controversy. She is a naturally gorgeous woman. Straight ahead, I`ll show what you editors did to her photo that made me really mad and is making lots of people lose faith in what they see in magazines.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PARIS HILTON, "THE SIMPLE LIFE": I think the crime didn`t fit the punishment. I did my time and it was really hard. But I don`t feel like I deserved to go to jail for it.

LARRY KING, CNN ANCHOR: You never thought you were a criminal?

HILTON: No.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: OK, that was Paris Hilton telling CNN`s Larry King days after being released from jail that she believes she got a raw deal. Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m Brooke Anderson in New York. A.J. Hammer has the night off.

Tonight you are not going to believe this. Britney, Paris, Lindsay and Nicole, their names have become synonymous with partying. Here is the shocking theory. Here goes; the party girls are victims of prejudice and are actually suffering. What?

All right, with me in New York is Dr. Robi Ludwig, psychotherapist and host of GSN`s new game show "Without Prejudice," that is testing this very theory. OK Dr. Robi, victims, are you kidding me?

DR. ROBI LUDWIG, "WITHOUT PREJUDICE": I know. We don`t think of people who are successful and very wealthy as potentially being victims, but they actually can be because the people that are reporting on them and talking about them are not part of their group. What we know about prejudice is we tend to understand people that we consider part of our group, and we tend to kind of dislike people who we consider not a part of our group. They are different than us.

ANDERSON: Well, I`m very grateful I`m not a part of any of their groups, to be honest with you. I want to take them one by one. I want to start with the leader of the party pack, Paris Hilton. You heard her saying she thought she got a raw deal. She acts like she spent three years in prison rather than three weeks, Robi.

She was arrested for DUI, went out driving on a suspended license. Yes, she is rich and famous. Not everybody gets as much scrutiny when they mess up like this, but if anybody is a victim, it`s us for being subjected to her and this.

LUDWIG: It is interesting that we find her so fascinating. I do think the judge was reacting to the total picture. Listen, I don`t think people should drink and drive. But what`s interesting is she did serve her time and people still consider her the same way, a party girl who`s not necessarily bright, who`s vacuous, who hasn`t changed at all. We don`t know that that`s true. We only see part of the picture because she is type cast.

ANDERSON: She hasn`t proven otherwise.

LUDWIG: We don`t know what is being chosen to -- she is visiting hospitals. She wants to make a difference. We see her in a certain way. That`s the way that makes money for her. It might even contribute to her being a party girl. It gets her attention. It works.

But people are complex. I think to think that if we focus on just the party aspect, that`s all they are is misleading. You have to think about who is reporting the story.

ANDERSON: People are very complex. Speaking of Britney Spears. She drives with a baby on her lap, attacks cars with umbrellas, shaves her head with cameras all around. It`s hard for me to believe that she is a victim when she brings it on herself.

LUDWIG: Well, she is young and she is making a lot of mistakes. But again, the people who are telling the story see her, god, she is a person who`s made so much money. She is successful. She is ruining it all. She is not taking this opportunity to do good with what she has been given. The bottom line is, she`s young. She`s making mistakes. Those mistakes are being highlighted in the media.

It could even contribute to a self-fulfilling prophecy that she is a mess. It`s certainly not contributing to helping her.

ANDERSON: Or her children. I feel so sorry for them.

LUDWIG: Attacking her, highlighting her baldness in the worst possible light. That`s not helping her. They see her as not necessarily a person. They almost get objectified.

ANDERSON: It`s interesting because you know they don`t have much guidance around them. They are surrounded by a lot of yes people. I want to move now to Lindsay Lohan; crashes her car, arrested for DUI, goes to rehab, and then from rehab right to a Vegas club. My sympathy meter is low at this point.

LUDWIG: I know, but if you were talking about let`s say a niece who was young and in trouble --

ANDERSON: I would say keep your butt at home.

LUDWIG: That`s right. What`s unfortunate is these people are making mistakes in the media. It`s not helping. It`s not helping with her fight to live a healthy life. Bottom line is you have to thing about who is telling the story, what their intention is. And their intention is not -- it`s to make money. There is a lot of aggression directed toward these girls.

It`s just an interesting way to look at it because it is true.

ANDERSON: When things are financially motivated, sometimes bad things can happen. Ten seconds, Nicole Richie, a victim?

LUDWIG: Well, Nicole -- I do. It`s interesting; when people have children very young, it`s almost a way to get unconditional love. I`m not saying how these girls are acting is right, but I think we do need to see the total picture that they are being attacked. I don`t think they -- I don`t think people realize that the attack has an impact on these girls and perhaps the choices they are making.

ANDERSON: Interesting points. Dr. Robi Ludwig, always good to see you. You can catch Robi`s new show "Without Prejudice" Tuesday nights on the GSN network.

Well, if you doubted that every picture of models and stars is retouched, well, we have one photo tonight that really drives the point home. It`s country star Faith Hill on the cover of "Redbook Magazine." The website Jezebel.com says the photo really exposes the lies of women`s magazines.

Take a look at the before cover. Faith is a 39-year-old mother of three kids. She is just a naturally beautiful woman. Here is the after cover. She still looks great. Look at them side by side to see just what got retouched. The main differences are they made her arm and back thinner, erased the lines on her neck and face.

The people at Jezebel.com are really upset about this. They say it`s nothing short of fraud and that Faith looks amazing just as she is. Well, I whole heatedly agree. But "Redbook" says it`s all part of the game and they aren`t to happy with Jezebel.com. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT got this statement from a Redbook spokesperson, quote, "We think Faith Hill is absolutely stunning inside and out. And that`s why our readers love her. It`s unfortunate that a new website looking to promote itself pays someone 10,000 to steal proprietary information and used one magazine as a scapegoat for a practice that is standard in entertainment and media in all forms."

All right. So what does Lindsay Lohan have to do to get her act together? At 42 minutes past the hour, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is saving Lindsay. We have very specific advice about what she has to do to get her life and her career back on track.

Plus, the feud between comedians John Lovitz and Andy Dick is no laughing matter. Lovitz is really sounding off about why he is furious. Why it got physical at a comedy club and the connection to a murdered SNL star. Also this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MESSNER: When I leave this Earth, because I love the lord, I am going straight to heaven.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Tammy Faye Messner`s very last interview days before her death coming up.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m Brooke Anderson. Well, talk about a warm welcome. David and Victoria Beckham are officially California residents now. Some of their very famous Hollywood friends hosted a gala event for them last night. Check out this party hosted by Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and Will and Jada Pinckett Smith at an art museum in Los Angeles.

Holmes and Cruise flew in from Germany where Tom is shooting a new movie. The party was to welcome the L.A. Galaxy`s newest soccer player David Beckham. He made his debut Saturday playing about 13 minutes in the second half of the game.

And at the party, the Cruises, Smiths and Beckhams all hit the dance floor. Guests at the exclusive bash dined on British favorites like bangers and mash. Others guests at the part included Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Brook Shields, Eva Longoria and Jim Carey and Jenny McCarthy.

They are being embraced by Hollywood`s elite.

OK, Kelly Clarkson is finally speaking out about the boss of her record label. There have been rumors about a feud with Clive Davis. But is it true? Kelly sets the record straight coming up.

Also, I really hope Lindsay Lohan can get her act together. She can be talented when she puts her mind to it, but seems to have been so troubled lately. Straight ahead, we`re going to get very specific advice for Lindsay on what she has to do to stay sober and get her career back on track. And we will also have this --

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MESSNER: I genuinely love you. And I genuinely care. And I genuinely want to see you in heaven some day. I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: So very sad and heartbreaking. Tammy Faye Messner`s last interview just days before she died of cancer. Next, Tammy Faye in her own words. Plus, one of her very best friends is right here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Don`t go anywhere.

(NEWS BREAK)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, a heart-wrenching goodbye to Tammy Faye Messner. Tonight, the last shocking interview with Tammy Faye just before she died.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TAMMY FAYE MESSNER: When I leave this earth, because I love the Lord, I am going straight to heaven.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Remarkable. Her courageous battle against cancer, plus her ex-husband, televangelist Jim Bakker speaks out. Tonight Tammy Faye`s emotional, final, unforgettable interview.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in New York. A.J. Hammer has the night off.

Tonight, family and friends are still saying goodbye to Tammy Faye Messner. The former televangelist, Christian singer and talk show host died Friday morning of inoperable cancer. She was 65 years old. Her family says she has been cremated and buried in a private ceremony. They say she died a peaceful death.

But if you saw her heart-wrenching last interview with CNN`s Larry King you would understand just how bad Tammy Faye`s health had gotten. In just a bit you`ll hear from Tammy Faye`s closest friend. But first tonight, an emotional goodbye to a colorful and beloved woman, in her own words.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

MESSNER: No matter what happens in your life, no matter what sadnesses come into your life, no matter what hurt, no matter what disappointments, no matter what happens in your life, that you can always get up and start over again. You can make it.

There`s nothing too hard. Life is all attitude. You change your attitude about things that you can make it through any situation.

I really love people with all my heart. I always feel, no matter, wherever I am, because I love God, I take a little bit of God with me, I hope.

Thank God you live life in increments, or you couldn`t stand it. When you see it all together, you can`t stand it.

I had colon cancer.

KING: When they told you, you had cancer, what was your first reaction?

MESSNER: My first reaction was, well, of course, it`s always disbelief at first. I was surprised that I wasn`t afraid, Larry. I looked at my husband, and I said, well, Rolle, God was the God of cancer yesterday, he is the God of cancer today. I says, and he hasn`t changed just because I have it. So I had real peace about it.

KING: Why do you think the public is still so fascinated with you?

MESSNER: Is it the eyelashes, Larry?

KING: What do you think?

MESSNER: I don`t know. I think it`s just my blunt honesty. I don`t hold back. If you want to know what I think, ask me, and I`ll tell you.

I would like to say that I genuinely love you. And I genuinely care. And I genuinely want to see you in heaven some day. I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy.

I talk to God every single day. And I say, God, my life is in your hands. And I trust you with me. I believe when I leave this earth, because I love the Lord, I am going straight to heaven.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: To see her health decline like that is just heartbreaking. And now SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you someone who was extremely close with the late Tammy Faye. Jim J. Bullock. You`ll remember him as Monroe from TV show`s "Too Close For Comfort." He later shared hosting duties with Tammy Faye, on a talk show. And they became the best of friends. He joins me now from Hollywood.

Jim, when was the last time you talked to Tammy Faye?

JIM J. BULLOCK, FRIEND OF TAMMY FAYE: The last time I spoke to Tammy was last fall. I had a conversation with her and I had not wanted to bother Tammy, so I know she had a lot of people who are reaching out to her. So I thought I would give her, her time and space to be with her family and friends.

Actually Friday I tried to call her because I saw the interview on "Larry King", so I wanted to call her Friday. Unbeknownst to me, she had already passed away.

ANDERSON: She told Larry King, Jim, that she didn`t want to know how much time she had left, but when you spoke to her, did she give any indication that the time was near?

BULLOCK: When I spoke to her? Oh, no, no, no. When I spoke to her Tammy was in total fighting mode. She was not going to give into this at all. It was not going to have victory over her. She was quite a fighter and she fought a long, hard battle. She won ultimately.

ANDERSON: Yeah, she was unflappable. Her courage --

BULLUCK: She was.

ANDERSON: Her faith. I want to read you something. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT received a statement from Jim Bakker, Tammy Faye`s ex-husband. And this is how it reads: "Our family is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Tammy Faye. She lived her life like the song she sang, `If life hands you a lemon, make lemonade.`"

Jim, that was the way she approached life, wasn`t it? Because at one time, we all remember, she was disgraced. You know, she was also made fun of at times. Here is a woman who had an air conditioned dog house. She took it all in stride, didn`t she?

BULLOCK: She took it in amazing stride she did. She did. She really lived by that philosophy of making lemonade. She squeezed a lot of lemons, but she made a lot of lemonade out of it. So that was totally Tammy`s attitude.

ANDERSON: She said, she was in constant pain. She was bed-ridden much of the time, but just days before her death she had such a sense of humor. It was really remarkable. I want you to listen to a clip of Tammy Faye on "Larry King Live" when she was talking about what kind of legacy she wanted to leave people. Listen to this.

BULLOCK: OK.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

KING: An email from Jane in Ashburn, Virginia, Tammy Faye. If you could have people remember you for one thing, what would it be?

MESSNER: My eyelashes. No!

(LAUGHTER)

KING: Still got that humor.

MESSNER: My walk with the lord. I think people need to know that there`s great peace and joy in the end, knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: It was shocking to see how frail and how gaunt she had become, Jim. But that humor, and really in the face of death, describe to us because you were close to her. How were you inspired by Tammy Faye?

BULLOCK: Well, I was, as anyone would be who got to -- who met Tammy was inspired by her kindness and her ability to just reach out and love people and embrace people. There were no boundaries with Tammy. She was so accessible. That was one of her most enduring qualities. It was there for everyone.

ANDERSON: Speaking of accessibility. She is the one who wanted to do this interview.

BULLOCK: Right.

ANDERSON: Jim, she was 65 pounds, as I said, in constant, horrible pain. Why do you think she wanted to do this?

BULLOCK: Well, I think Tammy wanted to say good-bye to Larry. I think she wanted to say good-bye to her fans. I think it took tremendous courage on her part to be seen like that. It`s not an easy thing to look at, but it`s a fact of life, right? Death is a fact of life as much as being young and healthy is a fact of life. Our society really doesn`t like to look at it, but it takes a lot of courage to allow yourself to be seen like that.

ANDERSON: Absolutely.

BULLOCK: What Tammy said was, in her closing statements on, Larry`s show, was that she just hoped everyone finds peace and joy. And that just - - it`s in a capsule right there.

ANDERSON: That sums it up. She was an inspiration.

BULLOCK: That`s it. She was.

ANDERSON: Jim J. Bullock, our condolences to you, and all of her friends and family, and fans. Thanks so much for joining us tonight.

BULLOCK: Thanks, thanks for having me on.

ANDERSON: OK, now that Lindsay Lohan has turned herself in, I really hope she can get her act together.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HOWARD BRAGMAN, FIFTEEN MINUTES PUBLIC RELATIONS: People who are enablers need to go. She can`t afford to have those people in her life. She needs people who are supportive of the 12 step, Lindsay.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: A special report, "Saving Lindsay Lohan". Some very specific things she can do right now to turn her life around. I am pulling for her.

Also, a bizarre battle between two big stars, normally funny guys. But I`ve got to tell you, nothing funny here. For the first time Jon Lovitz is speaking out about what set him off to slam Andy Dick`s head onto a wall. And the stunning connection all this has to a murdered well liked star. That`s coming up.

Is there really a ferocious fight between Kelly Clarkson and legendary music producer Clive Davis? Kelly is finally speaking out on who (ph) can work (ph) all of this out. We`ve got that next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m Brooke Anderson in New York.

Tonight I can tell you Lindsay Lohan is in legal limbo, waiting to hear if she will be formally charged. This after Lindsay quietly turned herself into police on DUI charges. She was booked on suspicion of drunk driving, relating to when she crashed her car this past Memorial Day weekend, and fled the scene of the accident. Police reportedly found a small amount of cocaine in her car.

She was fingerprinted, booked, and will now wait for an August 24th court date. Why wasn`t she booked back in May? Police say it`s because she was injured after the crash and never formally arrested.

You know, Lindsay just got out of rehab. We have video of her wearing that alcohol monitoring bracelet. People.com is reporting that she started to take tango lessons, bracelet and all, for her new movie "Dare to Love Me". It`s about tango legend Carlos Gardell (ph).

So, now that Lindsay is out of rehab and trying to maintain her sobriety with a 12-step program, we`ve come up with another plan. A very specific six-step one that Lindsay`s just got to listen to and take to heart. Here`s SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s A.J. Hammer with a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT special report on how Lindsay can turn her life and her career around.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Lindsay!

A.J. HAMMER, CNN ANCHOR, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT (voice over): She recently turned 21. Lindsay Lohan has been starring in movies since 1998, bursting onto the scene in the Disney movie, "The Parent Trap", playing not one, but two roles. And quickly became the adorable freckly faced girl-next-door.

LINDSAY LOHAN, ACTRESS: Haley, we`re like twins!

HAMMER: Now fast forward to 2007. She`s had two stays in rehab. The most recent, a 45-day stay in Promises, after a wild Memorial Day weekend that ended in an allegedly booze-filled car crash.

(on camera): If there was ever a picture that told the story, you`re looking at it. Lindsay Lohan passed out in a car after a wild weekend that began with a car accident, DUI arrest, and allegations of a cocaine connection.

(Voice over): Now, after more than six weeks of sobering up, Lindsay wants Hollywood to know she`s serious about keeping it straight. And she`s relying on some help from a device around her ankle.

MIKE FLEEMAN, WEST EDITOR, PEOPLE.COM: Lindsay Lohan has a new fashion accessory, it`s an alcohol monitoring bracelet.

HAMMER: But Lindsay needs a lot more than alcohol monitoring to save herself and her career. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has the six steps this young star needs to take seriously if she is truly serious about staying sober, and saving her career.

The first step, battling her demons.

BRAGMAN: The first one is, continue to get her demons under control. And I think the LEAA meetings, I believe the alcohol monitoring bracelet, these are good steps in the right direction, but she really needs to control her bad habits.

HAMMER: Bad habits that almost cost Lohan her career and caused her legal troubles that are not yet behind her. Remember that Memorial Day crash? Lohan was photographed passed out in the passenger seat of a car, and authorities say she was legally drunk. And they also alleged some cocaine was found in her car, and reportedly in her blood stream.

And barely 24 hours after leaving Promises, Lindsay was partying at Pure. Ankle monitoring bracelet tightly secured to fend off questions from the media about her sobriety. But does Lindsay need to do more? What`s her second step here? Lose the party people in her life?

KEN SEELEY, INTERVENTIONIST, A&E`S "INTERVENTION": I think the most important thing she needs to do is start focusing on her recovery and stop worrying about being around the party type of people.

HAMMER: But for Lindsay the partying type of people includes her own mother, Dina Lohan.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Dina!

HAMMER: The elder Lohan talked openly about partying alongside her daughter in the April issue of "Harper`s Bazaar" magazine. Dina described their relationship as being more sisterly than motherly, saying, quote, "If you can button it and clip it when you are in your 40s, you`re going out."

But should step three be cutting the cord with mom, or trying to change the dynamic of the relationship?

SEELEY: She would need to support her in her recovery, and not into the way that she`s continuing to spiral down and dying.

HAMMER: What about Lindsay`s estranged relationship with her father, Michael? He served time in prison for securities fraud at the height of her career. And just recently was released from prison for driving without a license, and attempted assault, even though Lindsay is 21, should she try to reconcile with dad? Or make a clean break?

Step four?

BRAGMAN: Of course you can cut your family off when you are 21 years old but her issues then linger from your family that are not going to go away. Emotional happiness and stability are what supports her sobriety.

HAMMER: What about the support Lindsey needs when it comes to her professional life? Well, it all depends. The pros tell SHOWBIZ TONIGHT step five is cleaning house, professionally speaking. That means firing the managers and publicists she works with. PR guru Howard Bragman who knows Lindsay`s PR team says it all depends on what direction they are pointing the young star in.

BRAGMAN: I believe she has a very good team, but she really has to look and say are these people encouraging me in the right direction, or are they enabling me? And I think most of them are encouraging her in the right direction.

HAMMER: And according to lead interventionist Ken Seeley from A&E`s "Intervention" the right support is what she needs.

SEELEY: Stick close to the people that are supporting you in your recovery and you will have a happy, successful life.

BRAGMAN: People who are enablers, need to go. And she can`t afford to have those people in her life. She needs people who are supportive of the 12-step, Lindsay. And she needs people to want her to succeed. sober, and professional.

HAMMER: And the new 12-step Lindsay needs to take one more step, step six, to get her career back on track.

BRAGMAN: She needs to show up on time. She needs to show up ready to work. She needs to be low key, respectful, put in a good performance because, frankly, at this point we know Lindsay is a very talented actor. There`s never been a question about that.

HAMMER: And hopefully Lindsay`s future actions will leave no questions about her commitment to sobriety or her work. She can return to a great career track and eventually become the stuff of Hollywood legends.

ANDERSON: One more thing Lindsay could do to really save her career, and herself, she could become a spokeswoman for an addiction program, or maybe even open up a clinic, much in the same way Betty Ford did back in 1982. Just an idea.

There has been a ton of media scrutiny on Kelly Clarkson in the last couple of months. Tonight she is setting the record straight.

Now there`s been a very publicized rumored battle between Kelly and her record label boss legendary music producer Clive Davis. Apparently, he didn`t like her new album "My December." Kelly didn`t like the pop direction they were pushing her in. On her website Kelly is coming clean about her relationship with Clive.

Listen to this: "Much of this has been blown way out of proportion and taken out of context. I`m well aware that Clive is one of the great record men of all time. He has been a key adviser and has been an important force in my success to date. He has also given me respect by releasing my new album when he was not obligated to do so."

When Kelly stopped by SHOWBIZ TONIGHT recently, she told our A.J. Hammer that her album almost didn`t get released, but all of this has made her stronger.

KELLY CLARKSON, SINGER: I would rather have someone that`s fighting me on something, than being a yes person. So, you know, because all it does is build my character and makes me really work hard for something. So, I don`t mind it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: I really hope they can get along. Kelly is a great artist. If you noticed in all of this, she never denies fighting with him. She recently fired her manager and cancelled her tour.

OK, an absolutely bizarre battle between comedians Andy Dick and Jon Lovitz. Let me tell you nothing funny about this. Things really got physical. For the first time, Jon Lovitz is speaking out about what set him off, and the stunning connection to the murder of a well-liked star.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: OK, so you might have heard about this nasty battle between former "News Radio" co-stars John Lovitz and Andy Dick. Now, Lovitz is speaking out Here is the back story. A few years ago while working on "News Radio" Lovitz blamed Dick for giving Phil Hartman`s wife cocaine, implying that that led to her killing Hartman, and herself.

Then last year, Dick supposedly ran onto Lovitz in a restaurant and said I`ve put the Phil Hartman hex on you. You are the next one to die. Lovitz ran into Dick about a week ago at the Laugh Factory Comedy Club in Hollywood. And when Dick wouldn`t apologize for what he said, Lovitz slammed his head into a wall. For the first time since that fight, Lovitz is speaking out, telling CNN`s Larry King why he lost it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JON LOVITZ, COMEDIAN: When the guy says, "I put the Phil Hartman hex" on you, I don`t think he`s a voodoo. It`s just a horrible thing to say. He`s mocking -- like Phil deserved it. He`s disrespecting that. He`s threatening my life. You know? I don`t know, it` freaks you out because when you have someone that close murdered, to you. It scares everybody, me, other friends. I thought, gee, are we going to get killed? It`s not a rational thought, but that`s what happens.

Look, and it wasn`t a fair fight. I`m 5`10", 195 pounds. Andy is a girl. It`s not fair. I admit it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Well, OK. By the way we reached out to Andy Dick. He had no comment. Personally, I`m not sure Lovitz should have gotten physical. But what Dick said was disgusting, way out of line.

Last week we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. It was this: Stars in public, do they deserve privacy?" And 61 percent say yes, they do. That means 39 percent say no way, they don`t. Here are some of the emails we received.

Joy from Georgia thinks stars do deserve privacy. "Is there a time and place for photos to be taken. I cannot imagine having my children thrown to the wolves (photographers).

Kathy from Indiana says, "Give me a break. They know what they are getting themselves into. If they don`t like it, work a job where no one cares who we date, or where we eat, or what we wear."
