Little Girl in Sex Tape Found Safe

Aired September 28, 2007 - 20:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

SAM CHAMPION, GUEST HOST: Breaking news tonight. They have found little Madison. One of the single most shocking cases of child abuse uncovered, a mystery girl as young as 4 years old, she was, the victim of brutal sex assaults. And it was all on videotape.
As we go to air tonight, we learn police reveal they have located the little girl in the leopard dress, and just hours ago, police also positively ID a person of interest in this case, an all-points bulletin by Nevada police and FBI for 37-year-old Chester Arthur Stiles, Stiles considered a fugitive wanted on state and federal warrants on an unrelated case of sex crimes on another child.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Her name is a variant of -- of Madeleine, or -- which means "the gift of the Lord." Her name -- and we hope that the gift that we get and the gift that she gets is the identification of her and her safe -- safety in proper hands of the Child Protective Services. And also maybe the family can lead us to who (INAUDIBLE) the suspect. Her name is Madison.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Our whole objective, of course, first of all, is to identify this little girl and rescue her, and second objective, of course, is to identify the suspect or anyone else involved and bring them to justice.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CHAMPION: Good evening. I`m Sam Champion, in for Nancy Grace. And breaking news tonight, police locate that little girl who was the victim of a brutal videotaped sex assault. And tonight, they`re still looking for that person of interest.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Nothing that I`ve seen in my career has come anywhere close to what this girl has gone through. And this person, whoever this person is, is a predator that, as far as I`m concerned, belongs in custody and should be successfully prosecuted in jail for as long as the law allows.

DET. DAVID BORUCHOWITZ, NYE COUNTY SHERIFF`S DEPARTMENT: Chester Arthur Stiles. Chester Arthur Stiles is wanted by Las Vegas Police Department for sexual assault and lewdness with a minor under the age of 14 years of age. There is a nationwide warrant out for him from metro -- Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, and there`s also an FBI warrant for him, as well, fugitive to escape prosecution.

They`re looking for him. He`s not considered a suspect. He`s considered a person of interest is unusual (ph) circumstance (INAUDIBLE) The only thing we had was her picture. And we made that heart-wrenching decision, but we had to find a way of rescuing her.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CHAMPION: And tonight, because of that picture, police have found little Madison. For more on this breaking development, let`s go straight out to Kristen Flowers, news anchor with KXNT AM 840. Kristen`s been following this story the entire time. Kristen, tell us this remarkable good news.

KRISTEN FLOWERS, KXNT AM 840: Well, we can just confirm right now, KXNT has been told exclusively that Madison has been found. She has been located -- her name, indeed, is Madison -- and that the person of interest, Chester Arthur Stiles, is being sought after right now.

CHAMPION: And we have actually confirmed that she was found, as well, with the police there. It is such amazing news and something that just moments ago, we were only hoping that we would include in this show, that we would need to find her fast. But in fact, she`s found.

Michelle Sigona, part of "America`s Most Wanted" -- Michelle, can you fill us in on what we know about finding little Madison tonight?

MICHELLE SIGONA, "AMERICA`S MOST WANTED": Well, at this particular time, as you know, these developments are late. They`re breaking. Investigators, thankfully, have been able to be so forthcoming in this case to be able to positively identify this little girl, get her to safety right now.

The focus has now changed to Stiles, and that`s where the investigation is going. Also, I can tell you that, you know, Darren Tuck, in this case, the 26-year-old that found that particular videotape, is right now -- he`s taken a polygraph in this particular investigation. It is going very long. And we will have the results of that polygraph, hopefully, within this next hour. I`m waiting for a phone call right now.

CHAMPION: With those pictures of that little girl`s face haunting us all week, this is the unbelievable news, that we actually have found this little girl.

But we need to go back and set up this story, in case you haven`t been following it all week long. It`s a dramatic videotape that was turned in and showed unspeakable, unspeakable actions against this little girl and just kind of shook everyone up with it.

Kristen Flowers, you`ve been telling the story. Set it up for us just a little bit so that we know what led up to this remarkable discovery tonight. What happened? How did they get the tape? What happened to this little girl?

FLOWERS: Well, what we know of right now is that on September 8, a tape was given to the Nye County officials that contained unspeakable, disturbing images of an older man sexually assaulting a young 4 or 5-year- old girl who`s now being confirmed as Madison. It was turned in by 26- year-old Darren Tuck. And police have claimed that he had held onto the tape for several months beforehand. That`s unconfirmed at this point.

But obviously, the main focus in all of this from Nye County officials has always been to make sure that the safety of that girl is the number one priority, if she is still in that situation, to remove her from it immediately.

CHAMPION: So Darren Tuck already in custody. We knew that. And we`re still now looking for this person of interest who may or may not be the person that we see in that videotape.

Michelle Sigona, let`s go back to you and set up the person of interest now. We`ve got the good news about little Madison. We know that there`s this odd discovery of the tape. And on that tape, we see someone who may or may not be this person of interest. But all of a sudden, the police say, boom, We`ve got somebody we want to talk to.

SIGONA: You`ve got that right. And investigators have been pretty much combing through their data bases throughout the area, trying to figure out if there are, you know, people outstanding, wanted fugitives that match the particular images that have been released to the media, that you`ve obviously been showing, that we`ve obviously been talking about. And this is the person that they have come up with.

Again, he has not been charged with anything. He`s only a person of interest. He does look a lot like the images in the particular videotape. Now, investigators are also holding back a lot of other information to positively identify Stiles, so once they do bring him into custody, there are other things on that tape that they can do to positively identify him very quickly, to let the public know this predator is off the streets right now. He does have other sex crime charges, as you do mention, and he does have an outstanding UFAP warrant. So these are a couple of other things.

Now, what we need to figure out is his relationship to little Madison. Is this her father? Is this her uncle? Is this a caretaker? Is this someone from the neighborhood? So, you know, someone obviously -- this is obviously someone who has had access to the little girl for long periods of time, to be able to create an almost 30-minute VHS tape of himself, you know, molesting this young little girl.

CHAMPION: And we`re backing into this story a little bit, Michelle, but it`s because we got such good news at the very top of this show, that this little girl was found. We do, by the way, have some videotape of Detective David Boruchowitz from the sheriff`s department kind of giving you the timeline of how this was found.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

During the course of that initial investigation, Mr. Tuck advised me that he had had the tape for four days. Mr. Tuck was interviewed several times during the course of that interview specifically about the timeframe that he`d had it, and Mr. Tuck told me he`d had it for four days. The videotape was returned to the sheriff`s office with me, where it was examined and the horrible assault that we have advised you about was discovered. Immediately, I contacted Mr. Tuck by phone and again reinterviewed him by telephone. Mr. Tuck`s story was the same.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CHAMPION: So you have this incredible discovery of a videotape by one man, then they get interested in somebody from that videotape.

Harry Kuehn is actually representing the man who claims to have found the tape, Darren Tuck, who is in custody right now. I`ve got to tell you, Harry, this guy walking through the desert finds this tape. Thankfully, it is turned in, and we all have to say good news for that. But you know, this story to me -- take me through why he had this tape, and now he may have had it since May before he turns it in? What is this now?

HARRY KUEHN, ATTORNEY FOR DARREN TUCK: Well, let me be the first to congratulate my client as being the savior of this young girl. Obviously, there was a lot done by law enforcement, but but for my client`s surrender of that tape that he found in the desert, we wouldn`t have this happy ending right now.

But my client has indicated to police and to us he was riding his dirt bike out in the desert. He found the tape. He had it for some disputed period of time. And then he surrendered it...

CHAMPION: Yes, Harry, I mean, it goes from a week in his first stories to what may have been since May. But now, let me ask you this. And of course, we`re all thankful that she`s found tonight and we know that it`s the videotape that helped us find her. But does your client know Chester Arthur Stiles? Does he know him?

KUEHN: Absolutely not. He doesn`t know the girl. He doesn`t know anything about this case.

CHAMPION: All right. So he`s just riding his bike through the desert, finds this tape and hangs onto it for an undetermined amount of time until he comes to the police with the tape. Is it true that he actually came in with this tape to kind of eliminate himself from a dragnet of burglary suspects in the area? Is that true?

KUEHN: No. No, and the sheriff`s department has indicated, irresponsibly, that they suspect him of being a big serial burglar in town. They don`t have any evidence of that, yet it hasn`t stopped them from accusing him of a whole bunch of crimes that they can`t prove. My client brought that tape in for the reason you and I would bring that tape in, because he had to do something...

CHAMPION: Well, I mean, let`s be honest, Harry. You and I...

KUEHN: That is honest.

CHAMPION: You and I, if we saw that tape, would have run, not walked to the police station. There wouldn`t be, certainly, anyone going, Oh, was it a week, was it two months, was it since May? You know, spring doesn`t move that quickly that you forget to bring a videotape like that in. So we are all thankful, again, tonight for the fact that that tape did help find this little girl. It was the primary interest leading to the beginning of this show. Now she`s fine, and we have to find the people who are responsible for doing something this horrible to her.

Let`s talk a little bit about Madison. Michelle, what do we know about this little girl whose face just haunted us? Hardened police detectives have discussed this case and said they could not watch this tape -- unspeakable actions. Anything that an adult could do sexually was done to this child, and they couldn`t finish watching the tape. Tell us what we know about her.

SIGONA: It`s sickening, and it`s absolutely horrific, as you mentioned. And you know, from what we know, is that this video was probably taken back in 2005 and that she does possibly know her attacker. Now, based on her expressions, based on her -- the way that she responds in this particular videotape, from what we`ve been told -- and based on what victims, sexual assault victims say -- is that, you know, her non- expressive, non-emotion, you know, the way that she presents herself in this tape indicates that this has been going on for a very long period of time, unfortunately.

And at this particular point, that`s what we know. We also know that there is a birthmark to positively identify her. So once they located her today, they were able to, you know, figure out if she did have that particular marking on her body, which, in fact, she did. And also...

CHAMPION: And Michelle, there was also a birthmark on the person of interest, as well or...

SIGONA: Yes.

CHAMPION: No, we don`t know that. There`s a birthmark on the person in the tape who was involved in the rape. So we don`t know that there is one on the person of interest. We don`t have that yet. But we do know she has a birthmark, or some kind of marking on her body that would identify her.

SIGONA: Some kind of marking on her body, yes. And investigators wouldn`t say if it was on her arm or not because it was kind of a way for them to weed out the thousands of tips that they`ve had. So if someone were to call and say, Yes, it`s definitely on her stomach and they knew it was on her stomach, then they would be able to move forward and say, OK, this is maybe the child that we`re looking for.

CHAMPION: And Kristen, when they confirmed to you that they found this girl tonight, did they say anything about the birthmarks how we know or -- or what did they say?

FLOWERS: I mean, I just got of the phone with Detective Boruchowitz before this interview, and he said that he is not going to be releasing anymore information. What we do know is that she does -- it looks like a little mole on her left cheek. And that`s obviously -- it`s seen from the images from the stills of the tape. And also, the person of interest, or the suspect at this point, also has some marks on his body that would possibly incriminate him.

CHAMPION: Unbelievable that this tape -- and no doubt this tape has helped them find this little girl, and all the attention. They were at first a little -- they didn`t know whether they wanted to put this tape on national media. You just don`t usually do that with a victim, but they thought it might help find her, and indeed, it did actually help find her.

And now we`re going to go through everybody involved in this case. We`re going to tell you how this man says he found the tape, who this person of interest is.

But first let`s get to a "Case Alert." More than one week after a beautiful young sales rep vanishes, police confirm a body in the Chicago suburbs is that of 28-year-old Nailah Franklin, Franklin last heard from by text message on her way to dinner but was never heard from again. Police discovered Franklin`s remains behind several vacant businesses not far from where Franklin`s car was found and abandoned. The investigation continues as officials are trying tonight to determine that cause of death.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Nothing that I`ve seen in my career has come anywhere close to what this girl has gone through. And you know, I just don`t imagine that anyone should go through (INAUDIBLE) how old they are, no matter what. And this person, whoever this person is, is a predator that, as far as I`m concerned, belongs in custody and should be successfully prosecuted in jail for as long as the law allows.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CHAMPION: I`m Sam Champion, in for Nancy Grace. And little Madison has been found. The girl whose desperate eyes mesmerized us all week long in hopes that we might find this little girl, this picture was released. And indeed, our reports are that she has been found tonight. You heard it first on this broadcast. But let me read something from the Associated Press out of Las Vegas, the headline there. "Nevada authorities say they have found a little girl who was shown being sexually assaulted in a homemade videotape." That`s the picture of Madison there. We just wanted you to know it is also a part of the news wire right now. But again, you heard it first on this show.

Rachel, you`re with us from Florida. Rachel, you have a question this evening?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes. I want to know exactly where is her parents, and where did he get her from?

CHAMPION: Rachel, I`ll tell you, I don`t know that we know that much yet because right now, what`s coming out of Las Vegas is that they have found this girl. They have not had a press conference to kind of deliver any details yet. But the big headline is that they just brought her in -- and I mean, just found her.

But Michelle, let`s talk a little bit about that with you. When they bring this girl in, they`ll obviously try to find out who she is, who her parents are, and where she was abducted from, if, in fact, she was abducted because some people are saying in this tape, in this situation, it could have been people who knew her. She might not have been missing from someplace.

SIGONA: She may not be missing from anywhere. And these are definite questions that investigators are going to sit down and very gently, probably over the course of the next couple of days -- it`s not something that I don`t think, based on my experience, that they`re going to be pushing out of her. They`re going to kind of let her talk at her own pace, at her own free will, about the experiences, about this person, how she knows him and where they can possibly find him at this particular point.

Another thing interesting in the press conference was that investigators were saying that the mom may not come forward. It`s possible, you know, based on what investigators have learned, that her mom may actually know something, may actually know this man and know that this abuse has taken place, and maybe has been afraid to come forward, or known that her daughter`s picture has been out there in the media and doesn`t know what to do.

CHAMPION: Yes. So Rachel, I hoped that answered your question, in that we just don`t know a whole lot of it yet.

Let me just read you some quotes now that are coming out because you`re getting the news just as we get it on this little girl, Madison, being found. And it`s in quotes. "We have found the victim. She`s safe, says the Nye County sheriff`s detective David Boruchowitz. He gave that quote to the Associated Press tonight. The girl was with family members, and Nye County sheriff`s officials, they have just said -- and datelined that on Friday night.

So Rachel, to your call, there are apparently some family members around her right now. Again, there has been no kind of press release. There has been no event to where sheriff`s county deputies or anyone from the office will come up and kind of explain the situation yet. You`re just getting little bits of breaking news as we get them. That`s the update right now.

Lisa from California, can we quickly get your question?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes. I would like to know what year was that tape made? And also, how old is the little girl?

CHAMPION: Yes. Those -- again, those are all questions we`re going to know a lot more about. And we`ll talk about that in the show. We`re going to have to go to break in just a minute, but we`re going to talk about that later in the show, how they dated this tape that they found. It`s very interesting.

They believe it`s between 2003 and 2005 that the tape was made. They`re feeling she was about 4 years old to 5 years old at the time, maybe 7 years old. All of that we should know within minutes, if not hours, now that they have this little girl in custody. I`m assuming they`re being very, very delicate with her at this time and will release information as they have it.

But they were able to date that tape from things that were inside that tape and we`re certainly going to go around with our experts and tell you how all of that happens. There`s so much more on this story that is breaking for you right now.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BORUCHOWITZ: Mr. Tuck contacted the Nye County sheriff`s detective division and notified us that he had found a tape, a videotape that he had found in the desert that had an act that he stated was horrible, and wanted to turn it in. Accommodations were made immediately, where I met with Mr. Tuck, and Mr. Tuck turned the videotape over to me.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CHAMPION: I`m Sam Champion, in for Nancy Grace. And though you`ve heard it on this broadcast, that little girl was found. And this quote from the Nye County sheriff`s detective David Boruchowitz -- "We found the victim. She`s safe," he says tonight. The Associated Press is reporting this now. But again, you heard it at the top of this broadcast already. The girl is with family members and Nye County sheriff`s officials.

But now, Kristen Flowers, you`ve been on the story from the beginning, so we should turn to you for a quick recap on what exactly we have tonight.

FLOWERS: Yes. I mean, it`s breaking news. We at KXNT received news from the detective that the little girl was found. We can confirm her name was Madison. There is a person of interest in this case that looks suspiciously like the person in the tape. His name is Chester Arthur Stiles. And he is currently a fugitive in the FBI status at this point.

CHAMPION: So we still have somebody we`re looking for.

Patricia Saunders, Ph.D., clinical psychologist -- Patricia, we need to turn to you for a quick one on what is likely going on with this tortured little girl tonight?

PATRICIA SAUNDERS, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST: Well, in the pictures, Sam, she looks like she isn`t feeling much of anything, which is normal reaction to the most grotesque of abnormal circumstances. We call it disassociation. Child victims of sexual abuse say that they make themselves go away to turn down, to numb themselves out to the pain and trauma. So she might not be feeling very much of anything right now. We don`t know how long ago it happened. We don`t know for how long it occurred.

CHAMPION: And in fact, people who saw the tape said she never cried. She just remained kind of blank throughout the tape. And this is a 30- minute-long tape of brutal sexual assault. And this poor, poor, beautiful little girl never even made a face, apparently. How do you question her tonight? How do you make her feel safe and comfortable and talk to her tonight?

SAUNDERS: Very, very carefully. People are specially trained how to deal with child victims of sexual molestation. The most important thing is for the child to feel safe. If she`s with family members, she will feel safer. But we don`t know yet what the family members knew and what the relationship was to this alleged perpetrator. You follow the child`s lead. You don`t introduce anything. And you wait for her.

CHAMPION: All right. And Patricia, we`ll talk to you a little bit more.

We are going to wrap up this entire story, tell you all the players involved in this. But the headline tonight, little Madison has been found. We`ll be right back.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What we also learned from the tape is the little girl`s name is Madison, at least according to the tape. And this I found very interesting. They did some digging into what she was wearing. That dress that you see her wearing there was manufactured in spring 2003.

Now, there was another girl on the tape, as well, as she was the victim of a Peeping Tom, and she reported that case in 2005. So it seems like this awful act that was caught on that tape happened quite some time ago.

It is just so chilling. And, in fact, the sheriff himself says that he`s been in law enforcement some 25-plus years and, quote, "nothing has come anywhere close to what this little girl has been through."

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CHAMPION: I`m Sam Champion in for Nancy Grace. And, tonight, a wrap- up kind of on this case, certainly, what`s going on with it. We have this videotape. Madison has been found. In the tape, the little girl. We have a person of interest, a Chester Arthur Stiles, 37 years old.

And, right now, we have some breaking news on another man involved in this case. Darren Tuck, the man who actually turned in the tape, said he was walking in the desert and found it. Well, tonight there`s some new information on him and a polygraph.

Right, Michelle?

MICHELLE SIGONA, "AMERICA`S MOST WANTED" CORRESPONDENT: Right. He`s been taking a polygraph for some time now, is actually supposed to end earlier this evening, around 7:00 our time, Eastern Standard Time, and went until about 7:45, 7:50, even possibly later. The results are in. And "America`s Most Wanted" can confirm that Tuck did not pass the polygraph.

Now, what questions exactly were asked? We`re not too sure of. What parts of the polygraph he did not pass? We`re not too sure of yet. But we have learned and have confirmed, especially from his defense attorney, that he did not pass that polygraph.

CHAMPION: And co-counsel for Darren Tuck is with us tonight. Now, Harry Kuehn, we certainly thank you for being here, because if you were not here we would not have an understanding for certainly his perspective or his point of view. Not passing a police polygraph tonight is the headline on your client. What do you make with that?

HARRY KUEHN, ATTORNEY FOR DARREN TUCK: Well, earlier today we watched the press conference where the sheriff accused him of being the serial burglar for Pahrump. The district attorney advised that, if he filed charges, he`d be looking at life. My client witnessed that, obviously was shaking in his boots. I don`t know how familiar you are with polygraphs, but if you`re carrying baggage into the polygraph examination, fear like he had can affect the results.

CHAMPION: All right, so, Harry, you`re saying that this guy is nervous because he might be a burglary suspect, and so he blows the polygraph on being involved in this child pornography ring? Is that the take on this?

KUEHN: No, no, he`s being accused of being a serial burglar in Pahrump by a sheriff with no evidence to substantiate it. And the district attorney said, if he files charges, our client may look at life. That`s the kind of baggage he was carrying when he went into the polygraph.

CHAMPION: OK, Holly Hughes, you`re a prosecutor. Does that wash with you?

HOLLY HUGHES, PROSECUTOR: There`s a lot of what Mr. Kuehn says doesn`t wash. I`ve got to back up to the first statement. He wants to congratulate his client on being the one who found this guy?

CHAMPION: Go, Holly.

HUGHES: You`re got to be kidding me, Stan. This is absolutely ridiculous. We need to congratulate law enforcement and the tipsters who phoned actually this in and enabled us to find this girl. Congratulate his client for what, hold on to this sex tape for four days? I don`t care if it was five months or four days; I don`t care if it was four minutes. That is three minutes and 59 seconds too long.

You see what`s on tape, any reasonable person with a conscience would call 911 and say to the police, "You need to get over here right now. I`ve got this horrible tape. There may be evidence. There may be fingerprint evidence on it. I don`t want to touch it. I don`t want nothing to do with it." Congratulate his client? Let me congratulate him for having the chutzpah to say that.

CHAMPION: I`ve got to tell you, Holly, I mean, I can`t speak for anyone reasonable, I can only speak for me, and I would have run with a tape like that to get someone to pay attention to me. Alex, you`re a defense attorney. What do you say about a client who doesn`t pass a polygraph and has agreed actually to take it, and it`s a police polygraph? What do you say to that?

ALEX SANCHEZ, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, you know, I`m wondering why his attorney actually allowed him to go and take a polygraph test to begin with, because the story about finding this tape in the middle of the desert seems somewhat incredible. So, at that point, I would put a brake on everything and simply not allow my client to speak with the police, because once you speak with the police, you may be opening up a can of worms and drawing yourself into more criminal charges.

CHAMPION: Alex, I mean, if you`re an innocent guy sitting there, don`t you run to the polygraph and say, "Hook me up, because I want to tell you the truth here"? Don`t you do that?

SANCHEZ: You know something? That is a position that some people take. But I think that his attorney should have sat back with his client and said, "Wait." Why is it necessary for this person to have taken the polygraph now? What was the rush to the police station to take that test? I don`t think there was any reason for that attorney to allow his client at this moment to rush into the police station and say, "Let me take a polygraph test." For what purpose? What are they trying to prove or disprove at this point?

CHAMPION: Kuehn?

KUEHN: It was supposed to be a confidential polygraph examination, but we didn`t spill the beans. So what do you do? If you don`t have integrity on the other side, this is the blowback you get. Obviously, we just got some blowback because somebody didn`t follow through with their confidentiality agreement. So what do you do? It`s the way it`s been in Nye County.

CHAMPION: All right, well, we certainly have a lot more questions for you and more questions for a lot of people involved. Thankfully, there`s more of the show. We`ll be right back.

(NEWSBREAK)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Mr. Tuck conceded that he had, indeed, had it since May of 2007. Mr. Tuck stated he had not turned it into us because he was scared. During that interview, as well as interview of other witnesses, we were able to identify that Mr. Tuck had shown this video to at least one other person that we have identified. And at least a portion of the video was watched by that individual.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CHAMPION: I`m Sam Champion in for Nancy Grace. On tonight on NANCY GRACE, you heard it, 8:00, the victim is found. She`s safe, that at 8:12 from the Associated Press. So well ahead of even the news. That`s the first headline for this horrible case of child pornography involving the multiple rapes on a 30-minute tape of what appears to be a 4-year-old little girl, Madison. She`s found.

There`s a person of interest now in this case, Chester Arthur Stiles, warrants for him, 37-year-old. He is known as the person of interest in this case. And, also, you just heard the sheriff`s department there talking about, let`s see, the guy who turned in the tape, Darren Tuck I believe is his name. And his attorney is here on the show, as well.

We do, though, have Bob Beckett, the Nye County district attorney with us. Bob, I think you`re with us right now, right? So tell us, what have you got tonight? You`ve got Madison. What have you got?

BOB BECKETT, NYE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY: Well, we have the results of the polygraph test that concluded approximately one hour ago. The results are that the answers given by Mr. Tuck to the police indicated deception. In other words, he didn`t pass the test. He failed.

CHAMPION: Well, what questions did you ask him? Can you tell us that?

BECKETT: No. At this point in time, we`re still investigating all aspects of his story, and I can`t go into that detail at this point in time.

CHAMPION: OK. Well, Bob, I mean, what kind of questions would they be? I mean, we`ve all seen polygraphs done in television movies. So you warm them up with a, you know, my name`s Bob Beckett, right? Or not...

BECKETT: Sure.

CHAMPION: And then you kind of say, "Do you have any knowledge or do you know the case and do you know the people in question?" Are they questions that direct, like that?

BECKETT: Oh, absolutely. They`re very carefully crafted by the polygrapher and then run through the computer and given in a random order. And then the test is given three or four times, again and again, with the questions in different order. It`s very involved, very technical, and very scientific.

CHAMPION: All right, now, Nancy always reminds us, not admissible in court, unless everybody`s agreed to it prior. But what does this kind of polygraph tell you?

BECKETT: Well, of course, as you said, it`s an investigative tool. It`s not to be used in the courtroom. However, it indicates to us that our suspicions, our hunches were correct, or could be correct, and it helps us hopefully get to the truth.

CHAMPION: Bob, you also -- what can you tell us about Madison tonight? We`re all just thrilled to hear the news that the Nye County sheriff`s department has said that they have her. What can you tell us about that?

BECKETT: Well, I can just tell you that I am just ecstatic. And, of course, our first priority was to find Madison and to bring her to safety. And now that that`s done, and it`s such a relief, we`re going to move onto our second priority, and that is to bring those involved to justice.

CHAMPION: And general condition -- I know you guys talk amongst yourself, so the general condition of this young lady, even if you weren`t right there, have you heard how she is?

BECKETT: I don`t have any information as to that.

CHAMPION: OK.

Charlotte, you`ve got the microphone from Tennessee, what questions do you want to ask tonight?

CALLER: Well, 40 years ago, you know, I can certainly understand Madison`s place and where she`s at right now, but I can tell you, she`s never going to feel safe, because I was a victim, also, although she`s alive, which is wonderful. As long as this man has any access to any children or -- but I can tell you, her childhood is gone. It left the minute that he abused her.

And so keep in mind that this is of a personal nature to me. I really want to know, unlike 40 years ago, where this just didn`t get talked about, and the children, or little girls, boys, whatever, were abused, things that change now. People are talking about it. It`s out in the open. And I want to know, what`s the maximum that they can do to -- if Chester Stiles is found guilty, what can they do to him?

CHAMPION: OK. And so you`re talking about the person of interest, if, in fact, they actually do charge him. Bob Beckett, are you there? What does Nye County say you can do? What`s the max?

BECKETT: Well, we can charge him with a number of crimes, of course, of sexual assault of a minor under 14, depending on the circumstances of how she got to the place where the video was taken, then possible kidnapping. The list of charges can go on and on. If convicted, if our person of interest does turn out to be a suspect and is convicted in a court of law by a jury, he could be sentenced to multiple life sentences with the charges that we are planning to put in place, if this is the right person.

CHAMPION: All right. Bob, we are also fortunate enough to have Alison Arngrim on the show tonight. She`s on the show a lot, National Association to Protect Children. She`s a molestation victim herself. You remember her as Nellie Oleson on "Little House on the Prairie." We all do.

Alison, some good news tonight. And we just heard from a victim, a caller from Tennessee who talks about it. What, with this little girl now, where do you even start questioning her? How do you start giving her a life? Because she`s, what, maybe 7 years old.

ALISON ARNGRIM, MOLESTATION VICTIM: Right. She`s real young.

CHAMPION: ... 4 at the time, and never had a life. How do you even begin to unravel this?

ARNGRIM: Well, first of all, I`m really happy she`s alive, because I know her being dead was a possibility. It`s very possible -- I know they said with relatives now -- that she may have been removed from her living situation during this interim period. Someone could have found out she was being abused in some way and sent her into foster care to these relatives and just not known about the tape.

So she may have already been started in some kind of protection, some kind of therapy. So it`s going to be really rough, because this is pretty severe. The only thing I can say about this horrendous case is now people have really seen the face of child pornography who may not have. Take what you`re seeing here and multiply it by 200,000, 300,000. Imagine 300,000 Madisons, because that`s what we`re dealing with, children.

CHAMPION: So, Alison, you`re saying there`s a lot of this. I mean, you`ve been on camera talking about it before...

ARNGRIM: It`s unbelievable.

CHAMPION: ... and how it may be hidden. It may happen on, you know, behind-the-back cash basis. But you`re saying there`s a lot of what we`re seeing with little Madison?

ARNGRIM: And the severity of this, they said, these images were severe. The reality is, the majority of child porn images out there are rape and penetration. Something like 20 percent include extreme violence and sadomasochism.

Child pornography is violent. The people who rape children on film do horrendous things just like this. And it`s hundreds of thousands of people out there are making and distributing child pornography, and hundreds of thousands of victims. And that`s why obviously at Protect, we`re screaming for more money for law enforcement. It`s unspeakable. There are hundreds of thousands of Madisons out there right now.

CHAMPION: All right, Allison, we`ve got this lead, and all of this information on a tape. Michael Sapraicone, former NYPD detective, which makes him a good guy in my book, president of the Squad Security, Inc., Michael, how do you take a VHS -- we`re talking about not even a new kind of format situation -- how do you break down and get leads off this tape? How does that happen?

MICHAEL SAPRAICONE, FORMER NYPD DETECTIVE: Well, actually, you`re in a good situation here. These guys -- I`m sure good if you go into that squad room and you look and see all the things they have in front of them, they`ve probably broken it down into a million different stills. This guy is going over it step by step by step to try to pick out anything they can. You know, one team will look at it; then, another team will look at it. And they did an excellent job here, with the dress alone may be a key factor in how they found Madison.

CHAMPION: Michelle, you`re watching this story as it happens. And the amazing thing with this is it is breaking. There`s news, information coming out every minute out of this right now. What`s happened since we came on the air?

SIGONA: Well, a lot has happened. Obviously, that the little girl has been safely identified. We`re out here. We`re looking for stiles. And Tuck failed his polygraph. Tuck is the man who came across this VHS tape, what he says, in the desert. And I can tell you that, right now, Tuck is giving "America`s Most Wanted" an exclusive interview in Nevada. I have him on the ground with a producer, and a lot of these questions we will be going over with him, again, trying to figure out if he has some sort of connection to possibly Stiles. We`re not even saying that Stiles is, you know, definitely the person in this tape.

CHAMPION: But what are those questions, Michelle? I mean, we want to know. Do they ask you directly in this, "Are you involved? Did you know this girl? Did you touch this girl? Did you buy this tape?" Are they that direct with him?

SIGONA: That`s what we`re figuring out right now. As I mentioned, our producer is on the ground with him asking him those same very questions right this minute. So I`ve got my cell phone in my hand, and we`re kind of going back and forth with text messages here to see exactly what has been said. So I`ll know within the next couple of minutes at least a little bit more information.

CHAMPION: OK, Carol in Florida, let`s take your question. If we have time, we`ll answer it before the break. If not, we`ll get right to it. Carol, go ahead.

CALLER: Yes, thank you. My question would be, Tuck that failed the polygraph test, has it ever dawned on the police that maybe, since he was a suspect and robberies, or breaking in, that maybe he found the tape that kind of way, and maybe that`s why he`s failing the polygraph?

CHAMPION: Harry Kuehn, this is your moment, because this is what you`re going to want to jump onto, someone who says giving him an out for having the tape. What do you think?

KUEHN: He didn`t commit any burglaries. He found the tape in the desert. He`s been consistent with that. He showed the detectives where he found it. In fact, it was under a sign in a Wal-Mart bag off the road next to a subdivision where he took the deputies to. That`s why the tape was in pristine condition. That`s why the tape -- why everyone is incredulous, "Oh, gee, the sun should have destroyed it."

CHAMPION: Well, you know, well, you know, we all have a lot of questions. That`s why you`re here to answer them. And we still have more. Your calls are coming in; we`ll put them to the test when we come right back.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

CHAMPION: Little Madison found tonight. A person of interest, Chester Arthur Stiles, 37, is the person of interest. And Darren Tuck, the other man with the tape, fails a polygraph. Tonight a look back on the stories and the people making the rest of the headlines this week.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

NANCY GRACE, CNN HOST: After a cheap plea deal with the federal government, NFL superstar Michael Vick finally facing hard jail time.

Look at this. This is graphic, everyone, let me warn you. This little dog had its nose bitten off. This is the kind of thing that happens during these dog fights.

JEAN CASAREZ, COURT TV: March 2007, it was a love triangle. She was a student teacher.

GRACE: Love triangle? Adult-sex-child? That is not a love triangle. That is child molestation.

Is this picture baby Maddy? And not only that, is the police case against Maddy`s parents crumbling?

With nearly 100 wives, nearly 100 children, finally one of the most powerful men in Utah put on trial for essentially child molestation.

A shocking videotape has materialized. It shows this little girl being molested, by an adult white male apparently in his 30s. Where is the little girl?

You know, the other day during a sonogram, I was very afraid. I thought I saw another one in there. But I`m happy to report that there are just two. The sexes of the twins have been confirmed by ultrasound. Think pink and blue!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CHAMPION: Tonight`s let`s stop to remember Army Specialist Rodney Johnson, just 20 years old from Houston, Texas, killed in Iraq. Johnson enlisted only two years ago, and it was his first tour of duty in Iraq. His aunt remembers him as a soldier first, but a devoted family man. Johnson leaves behind his mom, Charlotte, his police officer dad, Rodney, and grieving widow, Ashley, pregnant with their second child and a baby girl just 9 months old. Rodney Johnson is an American hero.

Thank you to all of our guests and to you at home for being with us. I`m Sam Champion. Thanks, Nancy, for letting me sit in, and a special happy birthday to a friend of the show, Michelle Cridgen (ph). We`ll see you tomorrow night at 8:00 Eastern. Until then, have a great evening. Nancy, it`s been a real pleasure to sit here in your chair. Thank you very much.
