A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Britney Spears returns to "How I Met Your Mother." And from Lindsay Lohan to Paris Hilton and beyond, why are so many young stars trying to be Marilyn Monroe? I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.
On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, Mariah`s secrets revealed. Mariah Carey speaks out about her quickie wedding. For the first time on camera, Mariah gushes about her new husband, Nick Cannon. Was it really love at first sight? What made Mariah say "I do" after only a couple of weeks. Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has the inside story of Mariah Carey`s shocking whirlwind wedding.
Did you see this? The "Sex and the City" movie premiers in London? Yes, it`s a movie about New York, but whatever. Did you see SJP`s hat?
And how about Barbara Walters on "LARRY KING LIVE"? What was she thinking?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BARBARA WALTERS, MEDIA CELEBRITY: Hello, Larry. I`m going faint. (UNINTELLIGIBLE)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Tonight, from SJP`s hat trick to Barbara`s hand trick, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has the stories everyone is talking about.
(MUSIC)
Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City. Tonight, Mariah`s secrets revealed. Yes, Mariah Carey spoke out on camera for the very first time since her shocking quickie marriage, and she did not hold back one bit. Mariah sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for an all-out lovefest. She really opened up about her whirlwind romance and marriage to Nick Cannon.
And now, we know everything we could ever want to know about Mariah`s love life and her hush-hush wedding. It`s Mariah as you`ve never heard her before, but SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has got to ask, could this love affair be the real deal or is it just, as they say, showbiz?
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
ELLEN DEGENERES, HOST, "THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW": Please welcome the newlywed, Mariah Carey.
HAMMER (voice over): It`s married Mariah. Mariah Carey has made her first TV appearance since her surprise wedding to film star and sometime MTV personality Nick Cannon.
DEGENERES: Will you be known as Mariah Cannon from now on -
MARIAH CAREY, SINGER: Everybody`s been calling me MCC.
HAMMER: Mariah told Ellen that even before the two shocked the world with their whirlwind courtship and surprise wedding, an optimistic Cannon was telling everyone that the two of them, to borrow from an old Mariah song -
CAREY (sung): We belong together.
DEGENERES: He`s been saying he had a thing for you for a while.
CAREY: Yes.
DEGENERES: OK.
CAREY: On TV. You know, then he said we were getting married on TV.
DEGENERES: Before you were together.
CAREY: Like totally, yes. Before we even knew each other.
ELLEN: Yes. He was using "The Secret." He was just projecting and -
CAREY: Yes.
DEGENERES: And it was kind of -
HAMMER: It`s no secret that Mariah and Nick have become the celebrity world`s new "it"" couple.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There she is! There she is!
HAMMER: This "Hollywood.tv" video shows the paparazzi madhouse the two sparked just by leaving an L.A. restaurant.
JO PIAZZA, "NEW YORK DAILY NEWS": Everyone wants to see them up close and be, like, "All right. Is this couple for real? Are they really this madly in love that they had to get married after a month?"
HAMMER: So as Ellen wore the pink nighty Mariah gave her as a 50th birthday present, Mariah revealed everything about her and Nick`s secret wedding in the Bahamas, a wedding so hush-hush that the guests didn`t even know they were attending a wedding.
CAREY: I did say, yes, we`re doing a video shoot. Because we wanted it to be on the beach. And we wanted it to be, you know - we didn`t want other people taking pictures and stuff like that. Because I think we both experienced, like, you know, the hoopla of trying to make something into a publicity stunt. We don`t really care about that mentality, so instead of trying to be like, "You`re invited but don`t tell anybody," we`re just going to have another one next year.
HAMMER: And Mariah showed off her new ring, reportedly valued in the millions.
DEGENERES: Look at that ring!
HAMMER: This Hollywood TV photo gives us a good look at Mariah`s rock. And no simple gold band for Nick. He`s sporting some serious ice as well.
PIAZZA: I feel like with that ring, Mariah is kind of like marking her man. It`s like, "Look out, ladies. Not only is he married, but this ring could cut you."
HAMMER: And in case there`s any doubt, Mariah told Ellen, kids are definitely in the cards.
DEGENERES: Are you thinking kids?
CAREY: Yes.
DEGENERES: Yes?
CAREY: I mean I always thought - I think we actually talked about it. I don`t know if we did.
DEGENERES: Yes.
CAREY: It was like, "Would you ever think about having kids?" And I said, "If I found the right person who I felt would be on the same page as me on raising kids and having the same belief system.
HAMMER: So If you think the Nick-and-Mariah media frenzy is bad now, imagine what it would be like should they ever have kids. That`s just a part of being the new "it" couple.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
And what about the his-and-her tattoos that Mariah and Nick are now sporting. Well, Mariah spilled the beans on those as well. And you`re not going to believe what she told Ellen about them. I`m going to give you a little hint, size did not matter. We`re going to have that coming up for you a little later on on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
And now, Barbara`s "Star Wars." Star Jones blasted Barbara Walters over her scandalous memoir. Walters makes some pretty startling confessions in the book from having an affair with a married senator to having to lie about Star`s weight loss surgery as well. After the book came out, Star released a biting statement about Walters.
And at first, Barbara said she wouldn`t respond. But now she`s talking to CNN`s own Larry King and her comments leave more questions than answers.
With me tonight from Hollywood, Howard Bragman, the founder of Fifteen Minutes Public Relations. And Ashlan Gorse, "E! News" correspondent.
Howard, Ashlan, you had to know that Star was not going to get the last word in this battle. And I have to read once again, at least part of this vicious statement that Star Jones released about Barbara, quote, "It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character."
Yes, that bites. Now, Barbara held off on responding until now. Watch what she had to say.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WALTERS: Poor woman. You know, she`s gone through so much. And you know, to write that - I mean what she`s talking about is very tiny. You and I can talk about it. It`s such a small part of what is a very good and honest book. We made a mistake. We should have told the truth about Star from day one.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: And she went on and called her a poor, poor woman. Howard Bragman, I thought this thing was over. Sounds like the gloves are off.
HOWARD BRAGMAN, FOUNDER, FIFTEEN MINUTES PUBLIC RELATIONS: No, I have to disagree a little, A.J. I thought Barbara was being very kind when she said poor woman. She was talking about the fact that Star lost her show and is getting divorced. And she didn`t throw any new grenades. Because if you throw a grenade at Star, you`re getting a bazooka back. So she was kind of downplaying the whole war between them. And hopefully, it will go away until the next time says something new and different about Star.
HAMMER: OK. Because you know, I`ve talked to a bunch of people about this appearance today and there`s been a mixed reaction to the level of sincerity. Is it something she just had to deal with? And of course, we have to keep in mind Barbara opened up this whole can of worms by including the whole Star fiasco in her book.
And now, as a result of that, we have this Star versus Barbara battle going strong. But the book is Barbara`s memoir. She included the stuff that people wanted to know about. What do you think, Ashlan? Would she have made an even bigger mistake by not writing about Star in the first place?
ASHLAN GORSE, CORRESPONDENT, "E! NEWS": I completely agree. When you think of a memoir, the reason Barbara waited so long to do this is because she wanted to include everything, from her affairs when she was younger, which are a very small part, but up until "The View." And I think everybody`s interested from her whole life.
And I don`t think she`s necessarily picking on Star. But of course, Star came back with those huge words. They are very volatile and Barbara handled it very well. She says, "I don`t want to add fuel to the fire. This is what I wrote. We made a mistake. I want to move on." So actually, I commend her for that.
HAMMER: But at the same time, Barbara did say when Star first released that statement that she wasn`t going to comment on Star`s statement. Now, she has. As a result this thing drags on - yes, we`re here talking about it.
Howard Bragman, I know you`re a big fan of saying something once and then moving on from it. As iconic as Barbara is, does she really need at this point to let this one go to protect her reputation?
BRAGMAN: You know, unfortunately, she`s on a huge media tour. She`s selling hundreds of thousands of books. And she`s going to be asked about this. Even though they`ve heard the answer already, everybody wants to know about it. You asked about it. Larry`s going to ask about it and it`s going to continue.
And as long as she doesn`t cover any new territory and say anything new, I think the fire in this fight will go away. But it`s still going to be there a little while because she can`t avoid it because it`s in the book and people want to know.
HAMMER: But do you think it is damaging at this point because it has turned into sort of a story of its own in terms of Barbara`s reputation or is - she`s Barbara and you can`t mess with that?
BRAGMAN: So many people are buying the book and reading the whole story, and this is just one small part of a very big book. Now, Barbara`s biggest problem is how to spend her money from this book right now in a tough stock market. She`s doing just fine. Don`t worry about Barbra.
HAMMER: Ashlan, what do you think? Should we be worried about Barbara as a result of this whole Star-Barbara - "Star Wars"?
GORSE: Not at all. I mean we still have to cover the Rosie O`Donnell send-off. I mean there`s a lot of things in that book that still have to come out which Barbara`s probably saving for the different cities as she has a press tour. But I think this is the biggest thing that everybody going on the person. I don`t think it`s going to really be a big issue because Star really doesn`t have a platform to stand on right now. So I think Barbara - when she wants to end it, it`s going to end.
HAMMER: Yes, and it is really easy to gravitate to a story like this, even though, as Barbara`s quick to point out, it`s just one chapter in the book. So Howard, you sort of alluded to this before. Depending on how she handles it going forward from this point, it`s going to make a big difference. Do you think this could be the end of the "Barbara-Star Wars"?
BRAGMAN: I hope it`s the end of the "Barbara-Star Wars." We want new fights, A.J. We`re tired of the same of old fights out there.
HAMMER: Some fresh material to work on.
BRAGMAN: Exactly.
HAMMER: Howard Bragman, Ashlan Gorse, thank you for joining us tonight.
And now we`d like to turn it over to you for our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day - "Barbara Walters` Confessions: Has she damaged her reputation?" Well let us know what you think. Go to CNN.com/ShowbizTonight. Our E-mail address - showbiztonight@cnn.com.
HAMMER: Well, I don`t know if this story that`s coming up next is going to damage Barbara`s reputation at all. But it sure makes me wonder what kind of beverages they`re serving there in Larry King`s green room. I`m just kidding.
The distinguished journalist Barbara Walters actually drew a little face on her hand. Yes, that`s Barbara`s hand. And she did a little puppet show on "LARRY KING LIVE." Man, you have got to stick around to see this.
Also, did you see this - the premiere of "Sex and the City," the movie? And guess what all the buzz is about? That thing on Sarah Jessica Parker`s head, whatever that is. It`s shocking and that is coming up.
Also, Britney Spears returns to "How I Met Your Mother." The reviews? Well, not as going as they were the last time around.
We`ll also have this -
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PIAZZA: She said herself she was depressed for the majority of her life, and eventually ended up dying.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: She`s talking about Marilyn Monroe, not a very happy life, certainly not a long life. So I wanted to know, why are so many young stars trying to be the new Marilyn? That is coming up in a showbiz special report you don`t want to miss - "Marilyn Monroe Wannabes."
Remember you can watch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT video anytime, with new stuff going up all the time at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight. Among the videos now playing, "Hulk Hogan`s Family Meltdown."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BRITNEY SPEARS, POP STAR: I`m in wedding planning mode. Stressville, population me. OK. Big decision. What do you think the cake should be, Fudgie the Whale or Cookie Puss?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Hey, she left out Dumpy the Pumpkin. That was Britney Spears` second appearance on "How I Met Your Mother." But did she steal the show this time around?
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. You`re watching TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. So tonight, did Britney Spears bomb on her second guest appearance on "How I Met Your Mother"?
Well, the reviews are in, and I`ve got to say, they`re less than glowing. So has Britney done enough to jump-start her career or is it back to the drawing board?
Joining me tonight from Hollywood, "Extra" correspondent Carlos Diaz and Kim Serafin, senior editor for "In Touch Weekly." Carlos, Kim, a pleasure to have you both here.
And we know when Brit had her first shot on "How I Met Your Mother," people gave her rave reviews. The ratings, as we know, were enormous. This time around, the reviews, not so good. Carlos Diaz, how do you think she did?
CARLOS DIAZ, "EXTRA" CORRESPONDENT: You know, I think she did just as well this time as she did the first time around. Except this time it wasn`t appointment TV like the first time around. In fact, to be quite honest with you, I walked into "Extra" today and somebody said, "Did you see Britney on last night?" And I was like, "Oh, she was on last night." I mean it didn`t have buzz. I had to go back and watch the tape to see how she did. She didn`t do that bad, but as you said, it wasn`t that same kind of buzz.
HAMMER: Yes, so maybe in your mind the novelty of the whole idea kind of wore off, the fact that everybody was waiting to see how does Britney look? How is she going to do?
DIAZ: Precisely.
HAMMER: And Kim, you know, the truth is, there are probably not a lot of people who were tuning in to see, you know, Britney`s fine acting chops. So do you think - the truth here is people are really just happy to see her stable and working, even if perhaps she did bomb. Because again, some of those reviews, really unkind.
KIM SERAFIN, SENIOR EDITOR, "IN TOUCH WEEKLY": Well, I have to say bombing would be what she did at the MTV VMAs. This was definitely not bombing. I mean I thought she handled herself really well. It`s a funny, well-written sitcom and she held her own against Neil Patrick Harris. I mean that`s hard to be up against such a great actor, such a funny actor, a guy that really makes that show. And I thought she was funny and sweet and endearing and I thought she did a great job.
And apparently they`re now kind of leaving the door open for her to possibly come back next season, making a repeat performance. So she obviously didn`t do that bad and she certainly did help the sitcom the first time around. I mean they shot to their highest ratings ever. So I think it`s great for her.
HAMMER: And you, Kim, are in no way - you`re in no way on Britney Spears` publicity payroll, correct?
SERAFIN: No. I thought she was great.
HAMMER: Because you have smile talking about her here.
SERAFIN: Well, I thought she did a good job. And I feel like everyone is kind of happy to see her do well. Yes, it wasn`t the appointment TV like Carlos said, because before her last appearance, the last time we had seen her was being rolled out on a stretcher into an ambulance.
Now, at least we`ve seen her looking better and better.
HAMMER: Yes.
SERAFIN: So that`s why it wasn`t the factor that we wanted to tune in to see whether she was going to fall and trip over herself. You know, we knew she could handle herself and she looked good.
HAMMER: To be clear, a better TV appearance than being on a stretcher, being hauled off to the hospital. So you mentioned that they`ve left the door open perhaps and there is this buzz she`ll be appearing and starring again next season on "How I Met Your Mother."
What do you think, Carlos? Would that perhaps be pushing her luck and really, at this point, have the potential of backfiring? Because as you said, the novelty has kind of worn off.
DIAZ: I was just kind of thinking I`ve never seen Kim Serafin and Britney Spears in the same place at the same time. Let`s investigate.
HAMMER: Hey!
DIAZ: No, I honestly - honestly, I think - That`s exactly right. She would be pushing her luck. You know what? This is proof right here. Britney, you did a good job. You turned in two fine performances. Now, let`s get back to the music. Let`s get on tour. Let`s get back to why you were a star in the first place.
HAMMER: Good point. I want to take now another look at Britney playing a ditzy blond on "How I Met Your Mother." Roll it, Charles.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SPEARS: Do you know what I hate most about Ted?
NEIL PATRICK HARRIS, ACTOR: What?
SPEARS: His stupid hair. His stupid, lame, awesome hair. It`s so stupid and awesome.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Britney and Doogie in bed together. I don`t think that`s something I ever expected to see in life. Now, we all agree, it is great to see Britney back in some work capacity. But, Kim, whether or not you think it was a flat performance, do you think it was good? Some reviewers saying not, so good. Is it really enough to solidify her comeback or has this kind of become perhaps a mistake or is heading down that direction?
SERAFIN: I really don`t think it`s a mistake. Again, she`s had so many mistakes in her life, whether it was shaving her head or possibly marrying Kevin Federline. There have been so many other mistakes. I don`t think this was. I think this is - It`s nice to see her back on track. I think people are now on her side. And I think people want her to succeed.
Having said that, yes, it would be great to see her back in the studio, really recording, really working on her music. But she seems to be doing that, too. And whether these TV appearances are helping her make her comeback or not, it almost seems like it`s just getting her back into a routine of going to work and being professional and having people look at her in a professional manner.
HAMMER: Carlos, I`ve got to wrap it up here, but it sounds like you totally agree with that. And as we said before - as you said before, she should stick to what she does best, do the music, because her album did do pretty well for her.
DIAZ: Yes, and it`s a great album, too, by the way. I seriously think it`s a great album. I think she just needs to move back into the music. She`s doing well in her personal life as well. She`s moving down the right path. Let`s just say goodbye to "How I Met Your Mother."
HAMMER: Stay on track. I`m with you. Carlos Diaz, Kim Serafin, I appreciate you both being here. And remember, for the latest breaking Britney Spears news and video, you can always check out the Britney Drama Section of our Web site. New stuff being posted for you all the time to check out at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight.
All right. Just a couple of days ago, I sat down with the iconic Barbara Walters. But I have to say, after seeing her on "LARRY KING LIVE," I`m kind of wondering why I didn`t get a puppet show. Did you see this? Barbara paints her hand and does a little show. Yes, you don`t want to miss this coming up.
Also, I was one of the first people who got to see the "Sex and the City" movie. And last night, a whole bunch of people got to see it in London. But now, most of the buzz is about that, what Sarah Jessica Parker had on her head. SJP`s hat trick, coming up.
Also this -
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PIAZZA: Lindsay didn`t seem to understand any of the tragic parallels about that. She seemed to just think she was doing a light-hearted, pretty and also naked photo shoot.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Lindsay Lohan copied Marilyn Monroe`s naked photo shoot, shot for shot. But you know, she is not the only Marilyn "wannabe" in young Hollywood. So, I wanted to know, why is it that so many young stars want to be just like Marilyn? That is coming up in a showbiz special report.

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. Well, we told you the big news that Jimmy Fallon is going to be taking over for Conan O`Brien as the host of "Late Night." But as it turns out, there were a bunch of people who knew Jimmy was destined for late night stardom, his eighth grade classmates. And on the "Today" show, Jimmy presented the evidence. Take a look.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
AL ROKER, CO-HOST, "TODAY" SHOW: Show us your yearbook.
JIMMY FALLON, COMEDIAN: This is my yearbook from 1988 when I was in eighth grade. And I went to St. Mary of the Snow. It`s a school in Saugerties. Hey, guys! They`re off in school. And it seems that the class drops these. That`s me up there.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You were cute!
FALLON: I was wearing a tie and - But then, here it says, "James Fallon will replace David Letterman on the `Late Night Show.`" Isn`t that weird?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Wow.
FALLON: Eerie. Very scary, yes.
(CROSS TALK)
The most bizarre thing, everybody - I said yesterday - I said kindergarten in that press conference and my mom was sitting and then she goes (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Congratulations, Jimmy. I think it`s a great to get him in there. Jimmy will start hosting "Late Night" sometime in the middle of next year.
Well, can you feel the excitement from all the way across the pond? Such a thrill in the air at the premiere of the "Sex and the City" movie. But guess what all the buzz was about? That thing on her head, Sarah Jessica Parker`s hat, I guess it`s what it is. That, and the fact that the movie that is as New York as the Yankees premiered in London. Just shocking. That is still to come.
And did you see this? Be prepared. Distinguished journalist and trail blazer Barbara Walters drew that little face on her hand and yes, did a little hand puppet show on "LARRY KING LIVE." Trust me, you want stick around to check it out.
We will also this -
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PIAZZA: She said herself that she was depressed for the majority of her life and eventually ended up dying.

HAMMER: On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, did you see this? Mariah Carey opens up for the very first time since her quickie marriage.
Barbara Walters` puppet show?
And a shocking thing happened on the way to the "Sex and the City" premiere? What in the world is Sarah Jessica Parker wearing?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PIAZZA: She said herself she was depressed for the majority of her life and eventually ended up dying.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: The sad story of Marilyn Monroe. But tonight, I can tell you, so many stars want to be just like her. Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, other young stars. But is this a dangerous path to head down? Tonight, a showbiz special report, the "Marilyn Monroe Wannabes."
(MUSIC)
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City. This is TV`s most provocative entertainment news show.
All right. Did you see this? Three big Hollywood stories that you have got to see to believe. For the very first time on television, Mariah Carey is telling all her wedding secrets. Mariah finally admits to Ellen DeGeneres why she snuck off to get married to a much younger dude.
Barbara Walters, like you`ve never seen her before, and I really, really mean that. The legendary TV icon entertains Larry King with a hand puppet. Yes, I said hand puppet.
And Sarah Jessica Parker is the talk of London, not just because the "Sex and the City" movie premiere was happening there but because of one very wild hat. What the heck is that thing?
Back with me tonight from Hollywood, the founder of Fifteen Minutes PR, Howard Bragman; "E! News" correspondent Ashlan Gorse; and senior editor of "In Touch Weekly," Kim Serafin.
Gang, I want to fire this up with Mariah Carey. The newlywed talked to Ellen DeGeneres for the very first time about her shocking and top secret wedding. Now, Mariah confesses that her hubby, Nick Cannon, who apparently loved her from afar for years and years, planned this whole elaborate event. But if you missed this one, don`t worry, there will be more. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CAREY: So instead of trying to be like, "You`re invited, but don`t tell anybody, we`re going to just have another one next year and his plan is to have one every year.
DEGENERES: And have a baby?
CAREY: Yes.
DEGENERES: You should have one.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right. So Nick said he wants to have a wedding every year. Mariah finally speaking. I`ve got to tell you, it all sounds very strange. Howard, are you buying this whole fairy tale?
BRAGMAN: I`m a silly romantic fool. Of course I`m buying it until I`m not buying it anymore. They`re in love. Let them be in love. And we have birthdays every year. Shouldn`t we have weddings every year, A.J.?
No, Howard. It`s a totally different thing. I don`t buy your logic, but I`m with you. I really want to believe it. And I like Mariah a lot. I wish them the best.
Now, she also says that Nick wants this wedding every year, as I mentioned. What do you think, Kim? Does Nick really - and Howard`s going to hate this. But do you think Nick really wants to have this wedding every year to make sure this whole thing is not just some dream and Mariah might come to her senses? Sorry Howard.
SERAFIN: No, you know, I think it`s sweet. And look, the two of them certainly have enough money. They can throw themselves a big wedding every year. So it`s no skin off their backs.
And plus, I guess this wedding was kept pretty secret. You know, they made people think they were going to do a video shoot. They couldn`t really invite all their friends. So this way, they can have a real wedding like the way it`s supposed to be, not sort of a secret wedding, keeping away from all the paparazzi on the beach.
HAMMER: Yes.
SERAFIN: So I don`t know if it`s wishful thinking. I mean, look, it`s a Hollywood marriage, you never know.
HAMMER: Sure.
SERAFIN: But it does seem like they`re in love.
HAMMER: Well, did you see the rock? That`s a Hollywood rock right there. For the very first time, we got to see this massive engagement ring. Look at that thing. Actually, what has everybody really talking is Nick`s massive tattoo, it`s Mariah`s name across his back. And yes, Ellen had to go there asking, why is his so big and hers so small?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEGENERES: And he has a huge commitment. It`s all across his shoulders and you do a tiny like spine of a butterfly right there.
CAREY: No, I never had a tattoo before in my life. I think my friends and his friends.
DEGENERES: That`s your first tattoo?
CAREY: Yes, and it`s his first tattoo also.
DEGENERES: Oh.
CAREY: Yes.
DEGENERES: OK.
CAREY: I thought it was a big deal, but I fell asleep during my tattoo. People were like, "What?" And it was very - I was gangsta for that.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, gansta indeed. Ellen looked a little gangsta there, wearing a nighty that was given to her by Mariah.
Ashlan, what do you think? Nick has this massive ink to proclaim his love for Mariah. This has to be more proof that this whole thing is real, right?
GORSE: The whole reason Nick had that tattoo like so big. It`s the paparazzi thing about Nick getting that tattoo is so the paparazzi will actually know who he is. That`s the whole reason he got it.
HAMMER: There you go.
GORSE: This is one of those things when celebrities get tattoos. Why do they do that? It`s not a smart move to ever get a tattoo of a lover on your body anywhere. It just curses the relationship. But it`s really - he just wanted to show how she`s loved and Mariah I guess just loved that much.
HAMMER: Well, you know, the technology for removing those things has really come a long way.
GORSE: That`s right.
HAMMER: All right. Moving on now, did you see this? Wow, Barbara Walters has made some certainly shocking revelations in her new autobiography, talking about affairs, talking about keeping Star Jones` weight loss secret. But on "LARRY KING LIVE," Barbara perhaps revealed her most impressive secret. I`d like you to watch it and know that, yes, it`s real.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WALTERS: I used to sit in the lighting booth of the Latin Quarter in Florida when I was seven, eight years old. I could do everybody`s act. Larry, "Hello, Larry." Who is this, Larry? I`m afraid. I guess, I`m (UNINTELLIGIBLE). In other words, the man on a box, remember? Open the box, close the box. I ask you, is this a childhood -

HAMMER: Wow! OK. Howard Bragman, back at you - she was obviously very prepared. She had the face painted on the hand and everything. Is it just me, or was that a little frightening?
BRAGMAN: Well, the frightening part is that she was prepared. It wasn`t like, Larry said, "I was reading the book and I saw this part." She was in the makeup room here painting it on and practicing. And I`ve heard stories about this. That`s what people do in the sunset of their lives, I guess, A.J.
HAMMER: Yes. That`s so nice. Very nice, borrowing a line from Star Jones there. You know, Barbara Walters has interviewed everybody - presidents, Hollywood stars, heads of state. This, not exactly the Barbara that we`ve come to know over the years. Ashlan Gorse, Barbara`s known for making people cry. Did this make you cry?
GORSE: It made me cry because I was laughing so hard. This is not what you expect from the mother, you know, of being a female journalist. For everybody, she`s the epitome of cool. She is the best female journalist out there. Her talking with her hand, I wasn`t really that impressed with that. A little bit of me died inside when I saw that, I have to admit.
HAMMER: OK. We`re going to move on to our next story that is new right now. Did you see this? Across the pond, Monday night, "Sex and the City" made its big premiere in London. The sexy ladies got an overwhelming reception red carpet. But the one thing that everybody was talking about was that hat, at least I think it`s a hat. Sarah Jessica Parker all decked out in this Philip Tracy number. That was, well - pardon my saying so - for the birds. This thing made of peacock feathers. Kim Serafin, let me ask you. You know, I love me some SJP. She really is one of my favorite actresses. But do you think that the hat is fashion forward or does it look like she got dressed - I don`t know - by Edward Scissorhands?
SERAFIN: Well, at least it`s not a hand puppet, I can say that. You know, I hope this doesn`t start a trend. We know "Sex and the City" kind of started the trend of Cosmos and Manolo Blahniks and (UNINTELLIGIBLE) in New York City. And I hope this is not going to be the new fashion statement that everyone is going to be wearing these days. But, you know, I think they all tried to kind of dress like their characters. We saw the photos.
HAMMER: Yes, of course.
SERAFIN: We saw the photos from the premiere last night. They all kind of fit into their characters. It`s been a long time since they could really be out in public, you know, flashing their fashion -
HAMMER: I have another theory, though. I have a whole different theory about this. Because you know, the hype is growing for this thing. It`s one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, keeping the plot a secret is a big deal. Howard Bragman, do you think perhaps she was trying to distract from people asking her about the plot of the movie, I think, keep it from being a spoiler?
BRAGMAN: No, this is an event. They`ve taken what would ordinarily be a chick flick and turned it into a major event. And part of this event is fashion. Part of it is a series of premieres. And I think she has a really good ability to make fun of herself.
So I think the hat was a winner and most of the reviews have been fairly good for the movie. Not through the roof, but fairly good. And expect a big, big opening for this.
HAMMER: I like the movie. Howard, you`re so serious. All right. Howard Bragman, Ashlan Gorse, Kim Serafin, thanks, guys.
We`ve been asking you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day about Barbara Walters` stunning admission about having an affair, her shocking new words to CNN`s Larry King about Star Jones. And a shocking setback for Oprah Winfrey. Yes, I said setback. Not something you hear every day, right? You`ve got to hear about this. It`s not really going to hurt Oprah in the pocketbook but it`s got to sting. That is next.

HAMMER: Everybody remembers this classic Marilyn Monroe scene, but who could forget the tragic way her life ended. So why are Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, even reality star Kim Kardashian obsessed with becoming the next Marilyn Monroe.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. Tonight, a showbiz special report, "Marilyn Monroe Wannabes." There is an ongoing obsession with becoming the next Marilyn Monroe. Despite so many tragic aspects of her life and death, young stars like Paris Hilton, even Lindsay Lohan are just trying to really, really hard to be the next Marilyn. But hold on just a second because SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has got to ask, are they nuts? Don`t they realize how tragic Marilyn`s life really was? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson looks into this downright crazy obsession.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BROOKE ANDERSON, CO-HOST: Hollywood is just full of wannabes. And more than ever, stars still want to be just like icon Marilyn Monroe. Now, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is getting to the bottom of this obsession and the first wannabe star, Paris Hilton.
PARIS HILTON, ACTRESS: That`s hot.
ANDERSON: Then there`s reality star, Kim Kardashian.
KIM KARDASHIAN, REALITY STAR: I`m not going if I`m not having a suite as of the time.
ANDERSON: We couldn`t possibly forget once-upon-a-time Disney princess Lindsay Lohan -
LINDSAY LOHAN, ACTRESS: I just moved here from Africa.
ANDERSON: And forever immortalized as the biggest wannabe Marilyn Monroe, the late Anna Nicole Smith.
ANNA NICOLE SMITH, ACTRESS: I would so much love to hang out with you.
ANDERSON: But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has got to ask this burning question, why would anyone want to emulate Marilyn Monroe? Did everyone forget her life had anything but a happy Hollywood ending?
PIAZZA: She had this horrible childhood, a lifelong addiction to drugs and bad relationships. And she said herself that she was depressed for the majority of her life and eventually ended up dying.
JENNY SLATE, COMEDIENNE: She wasn`t really praised at all for her acting ability.
GABE LIEDMAN, COMEDIAN: Yes.
ANDERSON: Yes, well, who said anything about acting ability? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you these stars aren`t known for their acting skills either - well, except for Lindsay Lohan who once had a career. But there are some striking similarities between these wannabes and Marilyn Monroe. And for some, it has something to do with a sex tape. And, yes, Marilyn reportedly had one, too. Hear the ladies of "The View."
WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": There`s a sex tape out - not out, some guy`s got it. He paid a lot of money for it.
JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": $1.5 million.
PIAZZA: Paris has her own sex tape, too. So yes, there`s a ton of similarities there.
ANDERSON: Oh yes, Paris Hilton and Marilyn do have something in common there. The hotel heiress who`s famous for nothing, told the U.K.`s "Sunday Times," quote, "I think every decade has an iconic blonde - like Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana - and right now, I`m that icon."
Paris, are you kidding me?
PIAZZA: Probably - I don`t think that Paris was kidding.
ANDERSON: And then - there`s reality star Kim Kardashian -
KARDASHIAN: She`s so annoying.
ANDERSON: Who`s got a sex tape of her own. And she told CNN`s Larry King she just had to do "Playboy" after Hugh Hefner told her this Marilyn Monroe story.
KARDASHIAN: He told me that my idol Marilyn Monroe was on his first cover. It was really inspirational to me.
ANDERSON: Yes, Kim, being inspired is one thing, being misinformed another, because Marilyn never actually posed for the magazine.
PIAZZA: The photos of Marilyn that appeared in "Playboy" had actually been taken by another photographer before she was famous and she finally consented to allow them to be printed. But it wasn`t Marilyn`s decision.
ANDERSON: Oh, decision-smigden. I guess Kim didn`t let the facts get in the way of a good story there. And that seems to be the running theme in this Monroe wannabe story.
And next up, Lindsay Lohan. She`s been arrested twice for DUI, spent some time in rehab and is struggling to get her career back on track as a result of all of her problems.
LIEDMAN: She kind of like took a drunk right and - it wasn`t cute. She run on something.
SLATE: Not cute.
ANDERSON: But how`s this for a cute idea? Recreating Marilyn Monroe`s final photo shoot called "The Last Sitting".
ELIZABETH HASSELBECK, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Lindsay Lohan recently did a spread in - what was it - "New York Magazine" when she was - she looked just like her. She did all the interpretations. She was right there. Everyone`s obsessed with her.
ANDERSON: But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is calling this obsession downright dangerous.
SLATE: What I don`t understand is if you`re trying to prove "I`m back," why re-create literally the last thing that somebody did before they like died -
SLATE: Died tragically.
LIEDMAN: Before they disappeared.
PIAZZA: Lindsay didn`t seem to understand any of the tragic parallels about that. She seemed to just think she was doing a light-hearted, pretty and also naked photo shoot.
ANDERSON: And the saddest part to this wannabe Marilyn Monroe story is perhaps the most tragic one of them all - the late Anna Nicole Smith.
SMITH: She`s been my idol for many, many years.
PIAZZA: Anna Nicole Smith pretty much spent her life trying to emulate Marilyn.
ANDERSON: She certainly did. She was "Playboy`s" 1993 Playmate of the Year.
PIAZZA: She spent her entire life trying not only to look like her, but to act like her and emulate her in her relationships, in her lifestyle and it ended pretty much the same way for Anna Nicole.
ANDERSON: And when you consider how tragic Anna Nicole Smith`s life was, it really leaves you wondering why the rest of these wannabes don`t quit while they`re still ahead.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
Well, perhaps the upside of all this, it looks like Lindsay Lohan is trying to make a career comeback. She`s going to be starring in the season finale of ABC`s "Ugly Betty."
All right. Time for some more stories that are new right now. Drew Barrymore is OK tonight after being involved in a car accident. Drew was rear-ended in Hollywood but instead of staying put and calling the police, she actually followed the other car, got its license plate number and turned it over to the cops.
"Indiana Jones" star Shia Labeouf is speaking out for the very first time about what really got him arrested in the Chicago drugstore - pimple cream. Yes, he tells David Letterman he was pretty drunk when he stumbled into a Walgreens. He needed some stuff for his face and he thought a security guard was laughing at him which he didn`t like. Then he came back to buy cigarettes and got into a second confrontation with the guard. Shia was not charged.
And a shocking setback for Oprah. Her ABC show "Big Give" has been canceled. It`s true. ABC`s official word is that Oprah didn`t want to do another season. But you know, the show had mixed reviews and just OK ratings.
Well, when Star Jones revealed that she was getting divorced, a lot of people were not really all that surprised. But it did shock her husband, Al Reynolds. Tonight, for the very first time since star announced her split, Al is speaking out. And I`ve got to tell you, he is totally fired up. He`s got a lot to say about what he`s been going through and what the media`s been doing to him. You don`t want to miss this.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. Tonight, Al Reynolds is speaking out for the very first time about his shocking divorce from Star Jones. When Star filed for the split, she didn`t give any specific reason. Al is saddened about the break-up and on his MySpace page, he writes, quote, "I know in my heart that I entered my marriage with love and the best of intentions and leave it with great sadness that it didn`t work. If you think you`re having a tough day, may propose you walk in my shoes for a few hours. In my mind, it feels like, `Dump on Al Month,` and I`m not having fun yet. I have been called a gigolo, a freeloader, unemployed, a sham, and many other things that don`t bear repeating. People on television, radio and the Internet have spoken disparagingly of my life, my sexuality, my career and my integrity."
Al also adds that he does not really want to talk about his divorce anymore and wants people to get to know him. Just call him Al, he says. What`s next? He`s completing his doctorate in organizational leadership and teaching.
Well, Cleveland Cavaliers basketball star LeBron James is certainly one of the best players in the NBA. But I am sorry, that does not excuse him from yelling at his mom, especially when she was just trying to help him out.
I want you to take a look at this. This is from Monday night`s playoff game between the Cavs and the Celtics. LeBron gets wrapped up and fouled by Boston`s Paul Pierce. Then LeBron`s mom starts going off on Pierce. Hey, mom`s got to protect her son, right? The thing is, LeBron then started yelling at his mom. He told her, "Sit your butt down."
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LEBRON JAMES, BASKETBALL PLAYER FOR THE CAVALIERS: I can`t afford for my mom not to be at every last one of my games. You know, I can`t afford that so I told her to sit down in language I shouldn`t have used. Thank God today wasn`t mother`s day, it was yesterday.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Still pretty funny, right? LeBron`s mom, by the way, taking on these big guys. Well, I give her a lot of credit for doing that. LeBron, let me advise you. Even though Mother`s Day has passed, please send mom some flowers, send her some candy, maybe a nice diamond necklace. In any event, the Cavaliers did win the game.
