Aired June 27, 2008 - 23:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Boy George speaks out for the first time since the United States basically told him to get lost. And the dramatic startling new video of the surfers hanging out with Matthew McConaughey fighting with the paparazzi.
I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER (voice over): On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, is Madonna getting divorced?

Tonight, what`s the real story behind the explosive and wild new reports about Madonna`s marriage? Is she splitting from her husband, Guy Ritchie? What could this mean for their children, and what if she didn`t have a pre- nup?

Plus, the possible jaw-dropping connection to Paul McCartney.

Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT investigates, is Madonna really getting divorced?

Young stars and plastic surgery. Tonight, women barely out of their teens going under the knife -- nose jobs, breast implants, even Botox.

TARA REID, ACTRESS: For years, I`ve been struggling with the bad plastic surgery.

HAMMER: Why in the world are young, beautiful stars getting plastic surgery? It`s a SHOWBIZ "Special Report."

Plus, Mini-Me`s max attack. Tonight, Mini-Me`s brand new super size move over his sex tape and why it could bring the "Austin Powers" star $20 million.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

And tonight for the very first time, Boy George is speaking out big-time after being banned from the United States. But come on, is Boy George really a menace to society?

We`ll get into that coming up.

But first, is Madonna headed to divorce court? Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is all over these wild stories about Madonna`s marriage meltdown. After some eight years of being the wife of Guy Ritchie, is Madonna about to become the ex-wife of Guy Ritchie?

And wait until you hear about the connection to the bitter Paul McCartney/Heather Miles divorce.

Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the very latest making news right now.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER (voice over): For a while now, there have been whispers that the marriage of Madonna and film director, Guy Ritchie, was in trouble. But now, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you those silent whispers have turned into outright shock.

DAVID CAPLAN, PEOPLE MAGAZINE: News of Madonna and Guy Ritchie possibly breaking up is huge and you could see that it has garnered attention across the globe.

HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you multiple British papers including the reputable "Times of London" are reporting that Madonna has met with a high- powered divorce attorney. People.com has interviewed a friend of Madonna`s.

CAPLAN: A source tells "People" that Madonna has not yet filed for divorce but that the two of them haven`t been together in a long time. Madonna is based in New York preparing for her upcoming tour, while Guy, meanwhile, has been in Europe spending time away from her.

HAMMER: But even though there is no formal break-up at this time, no one sees these reports as a good sign. After all, you don`t see a mechanic if your car`s running well. You don`t see an exterminator if you don`t have a pest issue. And you don`t see a divorce attorney if everything is good at home.

CAPLAN: When you hear about a celebrity consulting with the divorce attorney, that`s a bad omen.

HAMMER: Madonna and Guy got married in 2000 and are raising three kids together -- their 7-year-old son Rocco, 2-year-old son David, whom they adopted from Malawi last year, and Lordis, Madonna`s 11-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: That`s enough.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Except for the bomb "Swept Away," which guy directed and Madonna starred in, the marriage has been relatively free of public drama unlike Madonna`s first marriage to actor Sean Penn. But that`s begun to change in recent months.

CAPLAN: Madonna and Guy Ritchie have been battling rumors for months that the two of them were headed for a split.

HAMMER: Despite an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Guy and Madonna rarely have been seen together lately. And when Madonna showed up without Guy for her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March, eyebrows definitely raised.

CAPLAN: This was a once in a lifetime moment for Madonna. Common sense dictated that, of course, her husband would be by her side at such an honor.

HAMMER: Madonna`s camp tried to put the best face on it. About a week after Guy`s no-show at Madonna`s Hall of Fame induction, her publicist told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, quote, "I am delighted to confirm that Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remained happily married. All is well and wonderful in the Ritchie household."

What a difference three months make because when SHOWBIZ TONIGHT reached out to Madonna`s camp for a comment about the new divorce attorney report, the response was a terse "no comment."

CAPLAN: They`re not even making an effort to say, you know what, they are OK.

HAMMER: Now SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you the divorce attorney Madonna reportedly met with is no stranger to scandalous celebrity splits.

CAPLAN: Madonna has reportedly enlisted Fiona Shackleton, who`s a very high-powered divorce attorney in the U.K.

HAMMER: Shackleton represented Prince Charles in his divorce from Princess Diana. And more recently she reped(ph) Paul McCartney in his divorces from Heather Mills who got less than a quarter of the $250 million she`d asked for.

Mills thanked Shackleton by pouring water on the lawyer`s head in court and blasted her outside.

HEATHER MILLS, ANGRY AT PAUL MCCARTNEY`S ATTORNEY: Fiona Shackleton is very sadly handling this case in the worst manner you could ever, ever imagine.

HAMMER: And if a bulldog like Shackleton were to represent Madonna in a possible divorce, things could get interesting. "The Times of London" reports that Madonna and Ritchie do not have a pre-nup, meaning that, if there is a divorce, up to half of Madonna`s estimated $600 million fortune could be up for discussion.

But that`s a big "if." Right now, the only thing anyone can say for sure is how unfortunate the whole thing is.

CAPLAN: If Madonna and Guy Ritchie are indeed splitting and headed for divorce, it`s very sad.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: It is very sad. But exactly what the heck is going on here? Is this actually just a case of the seven, or in their case, eight-year itch or is Madonna actually ready to look for a new guy?

With me tonight, in New York, Jane Velez-Mitchell, investigative journalist and author of "Secrets Can Be Murder," which by the way is now out in paperback -- nice, Jane. And in Hollywood tonight, Darren Kavinoky, attorney for the California based Kavinoky Law Firm.

All right, guys. Here`s what I find really telling. As recently as March, Madonna`s publicist just flat-out denied that there was any trouble in paradise, as you heard. But when SHOWBIZ TONIGHT asked about a possible divorce now, she changed her tune to a terse "no comment" and this woman is a straight-shooter.

So Jane, I`d have to imagine that is not a good sign.

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST AND AUTHOR: We don`t know for sure, A.J., but it`s a very bad sign. Whenever a reporter calls a publicist for a comment on a rumor that turns out to be false and they know it`s not true, they don`t just say "no comment." Usually they say, that`s totally off base, check your sources, get your facts right. They are very emphatic.

In this case, the "no comment" does speak volumes. But I think, of all the points you mentioned, the biggest one is when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he reportedly did not show up.

I don`t know about you. But if I was in love with somebody who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I`d be there with bells on.

HAMMER: Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: But we got to give him credit, I mean, eight years, you know, for a super star couple is like 50 years for a regular couple.

HAMMER: That`s very, very true. Yes. And the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the music biz -- that`s a pretty big deal.

Another huge sign on top of those couple of signs, the fact that Madonna would go to somebody like a high-powered lawyer such as Fiona Shackleton who, of course, is known for big-time celebrity divorce cases like Paul McCartney, as we pointed out.

Darren, it seems to me she probably just didn`t go over to Fiona`s office to share a spot of tea.

DARREN KAVINOKY, ATTORNEY, THE KAVINOKY LAW FIRM: No. You typically don`t just stop in for a cup of Rosie as the English like to say. But Guy Ritchie better learn very quickly to look on the bright side. At least now he won`t have to suffer through my Mr. Madonna jokes and he will no longer have to defend his casting decision in that God-awful movie "Swept Away."

So there is some upside to him, although Madonna does not do anything by half measures. So he better beware and perhaps better just cut off a limb and quickly book an appearance on "Dancing with the Stars."

HAMMER: Well, you make a couple of very good points, among which the fact that she does nothing by half measures because this is something that`s come out of all of these different things floating around that`s made my head spin, the fact that "The London Times," a reputable newspaper reporting that Madonna did not make Guy Ritchie sign a prenup.

Now we all know Madonna is worth hundred of millions of dollars. And she`s also known for being a brilliant businesswoman.

Jane, are you like me? Do you just find it hard to believe that she wouldn`t have a prenup?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It is a shocker. You can`t imagine any of her financial advisers -- and she`s got to have a lot of them -- letting her do that. However, as you`ve all been saying, she`s her own woman. She`s headstrong. She makes her own decisions. And she does nothing by half measures. And she is a romantic.

And you know love, when you think it`s going to last forever, when you`re in it, and she was -- maybe -- temporarily insane, you know, on the love drug.

But I don`t feel sorry for her because even if she loses half of all that she has.

HAMMER: Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: . she still has $300 million.

HAMMER: That is something to keep in mind.

And again, we have not confirmed -- nobody has actually confirmed whether or not there was a prenup involved. It`s just something that "The London times," again, a reputable paper, is reporting.

Now, Darren, I know you suggested that Guy Ritchie may want to cut off one of his limbs if this divorce does go through. But really, if there is no prenup here, shouldn`t Madonna be seriously concerned, aside from the fact that she`ll still have, you know, $300 if half is taken away?

I mean how much could Guy really get if that is the case?

KAVINOKY: Well, I don`t think Madonna needs to be seriously concerned about her financial future. But Guy Ritchie does stand to make tens of millions of dollars if this all works out in a manner favorably to him. So -- and, of course, she may decide to let him keep his manhood. So there is tremendous value in that.

HAMMER: Yes, I mean, how can you possibly put a price tag on that, Darren? I guess you make an excellent point. To wrap up this discussion, I should write that down. Darren said she may let him keep his manhood.

All right. Darren Kavinoky, Jane Velez-Mitchell, thanks for being here tonight.

Well, I got to tell you, I cannot believe the dramatic fight that went down between the paparazzi and surfers who were hanging out with Matthew McConaughey.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Suddenly you just see a mob of people coming, you know, people backing up, people moving forward, and it just felt like, you know, this pack mentality.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: This brawl on a West Coast beach -- I mean this was something straight out of "Westside Story" coming up. I`ve got the brand-new shocking video of the rumble in Malibu. I promise it is going to keep you glued to the screen.

And I got to tell you, this Mini-Me sex tape scandal just keeps getting weirder and weirder. And yes, you didn`t hear incorrectly, I just said Mini-Me sex tape.

Tonight, Mini-Me`s brand-new super sized move over this video and why it could bring the "Austin Powers" star $20 million.

HAMMER: And for the very first time since the U.S. State Department basically told him to get lost, Boy George is now speaking out. Man, you have got to hear what he has to say about what is truly a bizarre controversy over Boy George being banned from the U.S. of A.

That`s on the way.

Now remember you can watch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT video anytime with new stuff being posted all the time at CNN.com/showbiztonight. And among the videos that are now playing, star divorce wars, including Christie Brinkley`s dirty divorce trial and Britney Spears` latest court victory.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is coming right back.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: What does the U.S. government have against Boy George? You denied him a visa.

UNIDENTIFIED U.S. DEPT. SPOKESMAN: Sorry, I should have swallowed before you said that. Let`s see if I spit the water off any place else.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Smart move. That is the director of press relations for the U.S. State Department, of all people, losing it during a press conference when somebody actually asked him about Boy George being denied a visa. Amazing.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. This is TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

And tonight, Boy George is speaking out for the very first time since this whole international controversy got started. Now he was supposed to tour the U.S. and play a concert for the New York City Sanitation Department. The Culture Club singer was sentenced to sweep streets a couple of years back related to a drug charge.

But the United States State Department has actually blocked him from coming into the country, denying him a visa. They`re not saying why. I`m guessing it probably has something to do with the trial that he`s facing in London on charges of falsely imprisoning a male escort.

Well, on the "Today" show, Boy George insists he has cleaned his act up.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BOY GEORGE, CULTURE CLUB LEAD SINGER: As far as I`m concerned, I came to sweep the streets of New York. I did a great job. So as far as my problems in America are concerned, I feel like I`ve paid my dues. You know?

MEREDITH VIEIRA, HOST, "THE TODAY SHOW": Well, we could use you sweeping the streets a little bit more here. You know, we can always get you back doing that.

BOY GEORGE: If you let me in, if you let me, I`ll take the broom. No problem, no problem.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: (INAUDIBLE) sometimes that happens. Rules are rules, but I do agree, he`s paid his dues and I don`t think Boy George is truly a threat to our homeland security.

Do they really want to hurt Boy George? Did somebody just have a bad experience listening to "Karma Chameleon"?

Well, I`ve got a fired-up panel ready to have at it. More on Boy George being blocked from coming to America at 30 past the hour.

What do you think? It`s our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Boy George, banned from the U.S., do you believe he is a threat? You can vote at CNN.com/showbiztonight or e-mail showbiztonight@CNN.com.

Well, tonight, Scarlett Johansson gets dumped but it wasn`t her fiance Ryan Reynolds that did it. It was a likely Democratic presidential nominee -- the one and only Barack Obama.

Scarlett, who was an avid Barack supporter, was reportedly going around town telling everybody that she and Barack exchange e-mails a lot. But as in any break up, the other side of the story isn`t always different.

Here`s CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice over): Forget "The Scarlet Letter." The only thing scarlet about the e-mails in this story was the sender`s name -- Scarlett Johansson.

JAY LENO, HOST, TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO: The 23-year-old gorgeous blonde actress e-mailing a married presidential candidate.

Well, what could go wrong there, huh?

MOOS: And there nothing did go wrong. The story was irresistible.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Why does Senator Obama trade e-mails with Scarlett Johansson? Well, frankly, wouldn`t you?

MOOS: Senator Obama told reporters on his plane he traded only one e-mail with the actress. No doubt hoping to put the kabash on jokes like this.

DAVID LETTERMAN, HOST, LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN: John McCain frequently consults with General David Petraeus. Barack Obama frequently consults with Scarlett Johansson.

MOOS: Johansson once joked that she was engaged to Barack Obama but it`s his politics she finds most engaging.

JOHANSSON: The first time that I met Barack, I was so star struck.

MOOS: Johansson e-mailed Obama offering her thoughts on the campaign. She told a Web site, Politico, "You`d imagine that someone like a senator who`s constantly traveling and constantly on, how he can return these personal e- mails? But he does."

Still, while Scarlett seemed to be saying.

JOHANSSON: Yes, we can.

MOOS: . Senator Obama was saying, "No, we weren`t," e-mailing a lot, that is.

Obama told reporters that Johansson sent one e-mail to his personal assistant, Reggie Love.

SEN. BARACK OBAMA (D), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: Reggie! Reggie!

MOOS: Reggie forwarded the e-mail to the senator. Obama said, "I write, saying, `Thank you, Scarlett, for doing what you do.` And suddenly we have this e-mail relationship," meaning that`s how everyone made it sound.

(On camera): Senator Obama seemed to distance himself from the actress. Not even so much as a "Dear Scarlett" e-mail.

(Voice over): Next thing you know, some of the blogs are saying he dumped Scarlett, that he threw her under the bus.

As for their first meeting?

JOHANSSON: He came up to me and the only thing that I could think of, I was like, hi, Senator. I love your wife. It`s so nice to meet you. And he was just like, oh -- you know, like, I`m sure she loves you, too, or whatever, like patted me on the head.

MOOS: Instead of e-mailing, maybe Johansson could console herself with a Barack Obama action figure featuring eight points of articulation so you can pose him presidentially.

The e-mailing brouhaha led one (INAUDIBLE) to write, "I did not have textual relations with that woman, Scarlett Johansson, just like a certain pointing president."

Is that what they mean by posing your action figure presidentially?

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Nice. That was CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Well, I can tell you, there are definitely two sides to this shocking fight between the paparazzi and some surfers who were hanging out with Matthew McConaughey.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Suddenly you just see a mob of people coming, you know, people backing up, people moving forward, and it just felt like, you know, this pack mentality.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I got to tell you this nasty battle on a West Coast beach sounds straight out of "Westside Story." You definitely do not want to miss the dramatic new video of this vicious, vicious brawl.

I`ll have that coming up next.

Another stunning turn of events. It`s the Mini-Me sex tape scandal. I can`t believe I actually just said that.

Tonight, Mini-Me is making a max attack. You have just got to hear about his super sized move over his sex tape. It could bring the "Austin Powers" star $20 million.

All right, if that Mini-Me story doesn`t make you fall out of your chair, well, perhaps this will.

Has Paris Hilton actually kept a promise? Remember when she promised to do all that charity work, even change her attitude? These were all promises that she made when she got out of jail.

Well, tonight, I can tell you, maybe, just maybe, she`s finally keeping her word. You definitely don`t want to miss this coming up.

But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is coming right back.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Thanks a lot, Charles.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

And tonight, I`ve got dramatic new video of this wild, out-of-control beach brawl between the paparazzi and surfers who were hanging out with Matthew McConaughey.

Now the paparazzi tried to take pictures of Matt, who`s just surfing in Malibu, and when the paparazzi wouldn`t leave, the surfers went after them.

Here`s the brand-new video of this jaw-dropping fight. This is courtesy of our friends over at TMZ.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hit me with it, baby! I`m right here. Hit me with it! There`s kids on the beach and they`re watching (EXPLETIVE DELETED).

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Get over here!

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Cut it out!

(CROSSTALK)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Unbelievable. And somebody`s freaking out with all that screaming going on.

Now Malibu officials are looking into new laws that would keep the paparazzi in check but still allow them to do their jobs. Well, those surfers say that they were protecting their turf.

Tonight, Mini-Me is taking dramatic new steps to protect his. You know that Mini-Me sex tape I told you about? Yes, well, Mini-Me is now making a maxi move over that tape. Oh, the tape. He could get millions of dollars for this and it is coming up.

Well, I think this Mini-Me story is just truly bizarre. Here`s another one. The United States government basically telling Boy George he`s not welcome here. This is very odd. So tonight, for the very first time, Boy George is speaking out about being banned in the USA. That is next.

And young stars and plastic surgery. I don`t get it. We`re talking women barely out of their teens going under the knife for the nose jobs and the breast implants and the Botox.

Why would young and beautiful stars get plastic surgery? A Showbiz "Special Report" is on the way.

Why in the world are young and beautiful stars getting plastic surgery? It`s a SHOWBIZ "Special Report.".

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City. This is TV`s most provocative entertainment news show.

And tonight, big stories new right now in Hollywood, including Paris Hilton and a sex tape and amazingly they are not connected.

Tonight, this guy, Mini-Me is big-time annoyed. Verne Troyer is his name. You know him from "Austin Powers" movie and Verne is furious that a sex tape of him has gotten out. He`s suing for $20 million.

And could it be? Is Paris Hilton finally ditching her party girl ways and keeping her charitable promises? We have some news that will definitely rewrite the history books.

And Boy George is sounding off in his first interview since being banned from the United States. He says the feds shouldn`t really want to hurt him.

Mini-Me sex tape, Paris, the philanthropist, banning Boy George? Has the world gone upside down?

Well, with me tonight trying to keep the globe on its axis, here in New York, entertainment columnist for the Village Voice, Michael Musto. Also in New York tonight, host of VH1 News, Janell Snowden. And in Hollywood, executive news editor for E! Ken Baker.

All right, once again, out of respect to you, my panelists, and you, my dear viewer, I will not be showing you this Verne Troyer sex tape. Trust me, I am doing you a huge favor here.

Now Mini-Me is suing the Web site TMZ for $20 million for posting a clip of the tape that features him and his ex-girlfriend.

Michael Musto, over to you, $20 million. Do you think Verne should be paying us for being exposed to this tape?

MICHAEL MUSTO, COLUMNIST, VILLAGE VOICE: No, he`s adorable, A.J. Look, this film is known as a documentary short subject and.

HAMMER: Aw.

MUSTO: Look, when everyone heard an "Austin Powers" star had done a sex tape, they said, oh, Elizabeth Hurley, Heather what`s her name.

HAMMER: Yes.

MUSTO: . that -- no, it`s the little guy. But look, he`s trying to show that little guy has stuff going on. If Dr. Ruth could be a sex therapist, why can`t he be a love god. This film makes him feel three feet tall.

HAMMER: Michael Musto, you always see your way through any subject to find great points.

MUSTO: (INAUDIBLE)

HAMMER: . to bring to -- bring to life.

Verne, as I mentioned, wants $20 million. I was thinking perhaps he could get a little more if he got Dr. Evil to negotiate the deal for him.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MIKE MYERS, ACTOR, "AUSTIN POWERS": $100 billion.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That would have been a much better deal, Janell. Should Verne Troyer just be -- I don`t know -- grateful for the exposure, so to speak?

JANELL SNOWDEN, HOST, VH1 NEWS: You know, A.J., yesterday I know I was like, spare me, oh my goodness, I never want to see this, but I have to admit the more we talk about this, the more morbidly curious I become.

It`s sort of like.

HAMMER: Yes?

SNOWDEN: . but wait, what does it -- and then, you know, you have to wonder if Mini-Me mini-me down there or is he shaggalicious? You just never know.

HAMMER: OK. Now I`m frightened indeed.

Now Troyer says this tape was stolen and it`s now in the hands of the guy who, of course, distributed the infamous Paris Hilton sex tape. That tape got a great title, by the way, "One Night in Paris." So I`m looking for suggestions here for this Mini-Me sex tape.

Ken Baker, I`ll try you out on this. What I was thinking "The Mini Who Shagged Me." You got one?

KEN BAKER, EXECUTIVE NEWS EDITOR, E!: Yes, I mean he was actually in "The Love Guru" which came out last weekend and it came in fourth place. Didn`t make very much money. So they should just call it "The Love Guru" and release it and it will probably make more than the actual "Love Guru" made.

HAMMER: Yes, so in addition to his $20 million, he`ll get a nice royalty check for that as well.

All right, well, speaking of Paris Hilton, wow, she`s making headlines again, amazingly not for another sex tape. This is blowing my mind. This is actually because she`s keeping one of her post-jail promises, the ones she made on "LARRY KING LIVE" last June.

Let me refresh your memory.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PARIS HILTON, HOTEL HEIRESS: I feel like, you know, being in the spotlight, I have a platform where I can raise awareness for so many great causes and just do so much with this instead of, you know, superficial things like going out.

I want to help raise money for kids and for breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Are you like me? Did you check your calendar before the program? That was exactly one year ago today. I mean it. It happened a year ago. We just learned that Paris has now made what a spokesperson is calling -- an extremely generous donation to children`s hospital out in Los Angeles.

So it took a year for Paris to flow through.

What do you think she was doing, Michael Musto, just saving up for the one- year anniversary?

MUSTO: No, she had to auction off her dogs, her sister, her ex-boyfriend. This one is not rich like we think she is. Look, this is a step towards her not becoming the new Mother Theresa but at least keeping her word those seemingly empty platitude about wanting to help women, children, birds, or whatever the hell is she saying.

Look, I`m all for Paris doing something good. I just think if she really wants to help the world, first of all, stop wearing handbags that clash with your heels. Also don`t do any more cheesy reality shows.

HAMMER: Yes, thank you for your fashion tips, Michael Musto.

Janell, can you break through the noise here? What`s really going on? Are we seeing a new Paris or are just seeing a new Paris publicity stunt?

SNOWDEN: I think the timing of it is certainly suspect. But these are the days she really didn`t really have to donate. I mean at -- the bottom line is that she`s trying to help and while, again, it might be that it`s -- you know, the timing, like I said, is totally suspect.

But she donated money. She didn`t have to. People are going to benefit from it hopefully. And maybe this is the sign of a new Paris. I mean we haven`t seen her flashes lately.

HAMMER: True.

SNOWDEN: We haven`t seen her -- have like a string of guys. She`s been with Benji Madden for quite some time.

HAMMER: Yes.

SNOWDEN: Which is good for her. So I`m going to say let`s side with Paris and hope that maybe a new day has come.

HAMMER: Ken Baker, staunch defender of Paris Hilton, what`s going on?

BAKER: Well, you know, the question is, is it a publicity stunt or is it just, you know, an act of benevolent charity? And the truth is, with Paris, it`s both.

HAMMER: Right.

BAKER: Let`s face it. And as long as we just agree to all that, yes, it`s good that she`s doing this but, of course, she wants us all to know about it.

HAMMER: All right. We need to move on now. To America`s newest homeland security threat. This is important stuff. Boy George, of course, the `80s pop star, as you may know by now, has been banned from the United States because he`s facing kidnapping charges in the U.K. for allegedly holding a male escort hostage.

Michael Musto, I know you know Boy George from back in the day. Is this ridiculous? Is Boy George truly a threat to homeland security?

MUSTO: He`s not as much of a threat as Naomi Campbell, but he is a threat, because I do know him and he has a lot of attitude. He`s scary, A.J. He once dissed me at a party I was hosting. He did like something I`d read about his Broadway show "Taboo."

But he is an exciting personality. Still, if Martha Stewart can`t go to England, why should Boy George be able to come to America?

HAMMER: OK.

MUSTO: Just because he`s a celebrity isn`t a good enough reason for him to entertain the troops or the sanitation workers or whatever he wants to do. He kidnapped a go-go boy.

HAMMER: I though you would take offense with the headgear that we`ve been showing in these pictures of him.

Boy George tells Meredith Vieira, by the way, in the "Today" show he is hopeful that he`s going to get off the State Department`s bad list because he wants to start his 24-city U.S. tour.

Let`s watch what he said.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BOY GEORGE: It`s disappointing because of the fans and there are a lot of people that have bought airline tickets, you know? So I`m disappointed for them. But if it doesn`t happen now, it will happen in the New Year. So it`s not over. You know it`s not like I`m going to have to do my career via satellite.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Hold on a sec, did he just say fans have bought airline tickets? Where are they flying in -- from 1982?

Janell Snowden, over to you, do you think the feds should just give Boy George a break here?

SNOWDEN: Just because he`s a celebrity it doesn`t mean you can get off the hook. I think that if he did definitely, you know, kidnap a go-go boy, as Michael calls him, then he should be held accountable and he`s right. Martha Stewart wasn`t allowed into England last week, and so he shouldn`t be allowed here either until it`s all cleared up.

If he`s found not guilty, then bring him on. But because he wants to perform a concert, come on. If he were anybody else besides Boy George, it wouldn`t even be a consideration.

HAMMER: All right. And to be clear, my notes say male escort. Michael Musto says go-go boy. I don`t know. Michael knows better than me.

MUSTO: Pleasure engineer is the correct term.

HAMMER: Pleasure engineer. Thank you so much.

Ken Baker, what about you? Are you ready like some people to write to your local public officials so this injustice can be made right?

BAKER: Absolutely not. I will not be writing to my congressman or congresswoman because this is completely ridiculous. The thing is that, if one of the effects of 9/11 and the tighter security for homeland security is that Boy George can`t come here, well, you know what? I`m willing to take that risk.

And I think there`s a reason why we have sort of pay-per-view. It`s like, he can just do it in London. He doesn`t have to come here. We`ve seen enough.

HAMMER: Michael Musto, Janell Snowden, Ken Baker -- now I should point out the charges against Boy George are just allegations. He has not been convicted.

We`ve been asking you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. And here it is. Let us know what you think. And this is an important one -- Boy George banned from the U.S.. Do you believe that he is a threat?

Please cast your vote at CNN.com/showbiztonight. If you have more to say, well, by all means, please e-mail us at showbiztonight@CNN.com.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": You have admitted that you have a nose job and breast augmentation. Very few people in the industry admit something like that. How come you did?

HEIDI MONTAG, "THE HILL" STAR: Well, for me, it was just a life-changing thing and you know, I think a lot of people go through insecurities and I was teased through a lot of things my whole life.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That was "The Hill" star Heidi Montag explaining to the ladies of "The View" why she decided to come clean about her plastic surgery.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. You`re watching TV`s provocative entertainment news show. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

And you know, Heidi isn`t only young starlet to go under that plastic surgery knife. Tara Reid, Ashlee Simpson -- they`ve also admitted to getting a little nip and tuck.

So what is with this growing trend in Hollywood? After all, I mean, think about it. These girls are still so young and still so beautiful. And what kind of message does this send to their fans?

It`s our SHOWBIZ "Special Report."

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER (voice over): Let`s face it. Plastic surgery is a friendly face in Hollywood. For decades, the ladies and gentlemen of la-la land have been nipping and tucking their way to eternal youth.

But there`s an alarming new trend that has SHOWBIZ TONIGHT worried -- women stars just barely out of their teens are choosing to go under the knife and it`s getting younger and younger by the day, as young as 21 years old.

DR. DAVID ALESSI, PLASTIC SURGEON: There`s a definite trend in Hollywood of having -- people having plastic and cosmetic surgery done at an earlier and earlier stage. And the problem with it is that there are so many young women and men who actually follows what the stars do. It`s actually not a healthy trend.

HAMMER: One of the youngest of the pack to get plastic surgery, MTV`s "The Hill" star Heidi Montag. The 21-year-old said she had a boob and nose job in April. She revealed to "US Weekly" magazine she did it because of deep- seeded body image insecurity.

Can you believe it? She`s beautiful.

In a dramatic confession, Montag admitted she was willing to risk a lot for the plastic surgery saying, quote, "My surgery was a very big deal, right before I went in, I was like, what if I don`t wake up? Oh this is scary. Then I thought, I don`t care if I don`t wake up, it`s worth it. I just wanted it so badly."

AMY BARNETT, "GIRLFRIEND`S GUIDE TO HAVING EVERYTHING": I think it`s a real challenge for a lot of women who already have body image issues to have plastic surgery, because the thing is plastic surgery doesn`t fix your body image issues.

HAMMER: Montag says she`s happy with her surgery and proud of it. But not every young star flaunts it.

Talk about young, 23-year-old pop star Ashlee Simpson kept the rumor mill busy when she turned up on the red carpet with a decidedly smaller nose. Let`s face it. Her nose has before and after written all over it.

Turns out, it`s true. Her dad Joe Simpson spilled the beans recently but said she had it done for health reasons.

OK, we can understand that, Ashlee. But what about this? Botox at 23? That`s what "In Touch Weekly" claims about her. They say Ashlee gets injections once a month to give her that wide-eyed look.

But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT asked one of the leading plastic surgeons in Hollywood if he thinks the Botox rumors are true. He tells us he doesn`t buy it.

ALESSI: For somebody like who`s 23 or 24 years old, it`s very, very unlikely that they would actually need Botox. It would be unlikely that she would have the type of wrinkles that you would see that would be indicative for -- Botox.

HAMMER: We`ll leave that to the unsolved mystery file.

But you got to admit, there are some celebrities out there who have had work done and, yes, it`s a no-brainer. Like, for example, Ashlee`s big sis, 27-year-old Jessica Simpson.

Get a load of those lips. Yep, that`s Jessica Simpson with collagen injections. She admitted to having the lip job and said she hated it once she got it.

She told "Glamour" magazine, quote, "It looked fake to me. I didn`t like that. But it went away in, like, four months. My lips are back to what they were. Thank God."

"Thank God" is right. Actually when you think about it, she got her lips done during a pretty traumatic time in her life, not long after her split with hubby, Nick Lachey. And go figure, so did another starlet, 25-year- old Britney Spears.

ALESSI: It`s all known that she had her lips augmented recently. And here you have somebody who`s out of shape, whose career is failing, and she has -- her custody of her children is well known and she goes in to have her lips augmented?

HAMMER: I know, right? So why did she do it, doc? Was she looking for a quick fix?

ALESSI: She needs to get other aspects in her life corrected before she starts having little things done like injection of the lips and things like that. I mean get in shape, get your career back and get your kids back and things like that.

HAMMER: Sounds like a tall order, if you ask me. But Dr. Alessi says he`s seeing more and more stars come through his office.

ALESSI: If somebody comes in and says, I looked in a magazine, I don`t think I`m pretty anymore, and could you just do something to make me more pretty? They basically needs a psychiatrist instead of a plastic surgeon.

HAMMER: And the bottom line, plastic surgery doesn`t solve any body image problems, not for celebrities or common folk.

BARNETT: I`m worried that young women who look at these stars who are doing a;; these operations and having this plastic surgery will think that they can buy confidence, too. But true confidence isn`t about looking good in front of the camera. True confidence is about self-acceptance and being comfortable in your own skin.

HAMMER: It was a hard-learned lesson for young star Tara Reid. She had a humiliating experience on the red carpet when her dress fell down and the world saw the sad reality of her botched boob job.

REID: For years, I`ve been struggling with the bad plastic surgery.

HAMMER: She told me it took her a long time to recover physically and mentally from that experience.

REID: Part of the reason I stopped working so much is I couldn`t. I (INAUDIBLE) my stomach.

HAMMER: Knowing what it must has done to you psychologically.

REID: Yes, and mentally, and I knew that everyone, like, dress (INAUDIBLE) -- I mean it`s just terrible so then I kind of just, in my life, got my self, got my body fixed, got my mind mentally fixed. And I really try to stay around, like, positive people now.

HAMMER: Who thought party girl Tara Reid could be such a role model.

But without women like her to drive the point home that plastic surgery doesn`t fix your life`s problems, well, who knows how young the next generation of starlets will start going under the knife?

BARNETT: You can`t fix your self-image. You can`t fix how good you feel about yourself by just physically slicing yourself up. You have to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. That`s true beauty. That`s true sexiness.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: (INAUDIBLE) I couldn`t agree more. Tara Reid told me it`s not hard to give into the ultra thin peer pressure of Hollywood. And you know, being young and impressionable in Hollywood just makes it even harder to resist.

Well, Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband, Matthew Broderick, don`t give in to Hollywood pressures. That is just one of the many reasons I like them so much. Such a cool couple.

But what`s their secret to making their marriage work? Tonight, I get the "Sex and the City" star to open up like never before about making it work. That`s coming up next.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is coming straight back.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Yes, I believe Joe did make it work. And welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

It`s time now for "Making It Work." This is where we get the biggest stars to reveal their secrets for making their relationships work, which, as we all know, definitely not an easy thing to do in Hollywood.

Tonight, "Sex and the City`s" Carrie, Sarah Jessica Parker. Of course, Sarah has been married to Matthew Broderick for more than 10 years. They have a 5-year-old son together, James Wilkie.

Now Parker and Broderick have managed to have successful careers in the spotlight without cracking under the pressure. They do live here in New York city and what`s really interesting is SJP told me one of the keys to making their marriage work is the city.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SARAH JESSICA PARKER, ACTRESS: This is a city that is about industry and finance and publishing and architecture and the arts and education and academia. And the movie industry fits into it in some small way. But there are a lot of people of import and interests.

And I think that is a conscious choice to live in a place where, you know, we`re bumping up against humanity. We run to the market on our own. We take the subway and we integrate and -- into our city and we become a fabric, a part of the fabric. And I think it`s really been to our benefit and certainly to our son`s.

Does it mean that we are not scrutinized and that we don`t have paparazzi every single day at our house? No. But it`s a city where you can`t live behind a gate. You can`t drive up in a car and be protected. You got -- you walk out the door and it is what it is. So you reconcile those things and you make the best choices you can.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I got to say, definitely it seems like SJP and Matthew have been making the right choices. And I can tell you, these guys are really down to earth. They know everybody in their Manhattan neighborhood. And that`s pretty cool.

Well, on Thursday, we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Christie Brinkley`s public divorce could backfire on her? A lot of fired-up e-mails came in, too. The vote went this way: 61 percent of you said yes, it could backfire, 39 percent of you said no, it won`t.

Here`s some of the e-mail that we got about this nasty divorce battle.

We heard from Lisa who lives in British Columbia, and Lisa writes, "I don`t think she should air her divorce in public. Look at what has happened to Denise Richards and others. It`s time to zip it. I wonder if they will ever learn."

We also heard from Chloe. Chloe adds, "I don`t think of her as an innocent victim. She was married four times before. How can she be so insensitive to her kids?"

I thank you for your e-mails and thank you for watching. That is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.
