(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOHN MAYER, SINGER: Me as a man, ended a relationship. I ended a relationship - I ended a relationship to be alone.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: OK, John. We get the point. But should John Mayer have just shut up about why he broke up with Jennifer Aniston. And now that Jen is rid of John, who should she date next? Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is playing match maker.

Plus Jennifer love Hewitt`s body image bombshell. Why she wishes she would have been naked from the time she was 12 to 28. TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

(MUSIC)

ANDERSON: Hi, there everyone. I`m Brooke Anderson, coming to you from Hollywood. A.J. has the night off.

And tonight, for the very first time, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are speaking out about their same sex wedding. And we can now bring you the very first pictures. That is coming up.

But first, tonight, Christina Applegate`s remarkable revelations about her battle with breast cancer. Just weeks after Applegate revealed she was battling cancer, the 36-year-old star appeared on TV today to drop another bombshell. The cancer is now gone because she decided to have both of her breasts removed. Tonight SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with Christina in her own words on her very private struggle, her tough decision and why she`s glad she made it. It`s all making news right now.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

CHRISTINA APPLEGATE, ACTRESS: I have amnesia.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: You`re just lying.

ANDERSON (voice over): From her sitcom, "Samantha Who" and her years on "Married with Children," we all knew Christina Applegate was incredibly funny. But now, we are learning that she`s incredibly brave as well.

APPLEGATE: I`m definitely not going to die from breast cancer.

ANDERSON: Applegate courageously talked about her winning the battle with cancer in a revealing interview with "Good Morning, America`s" Robin Roberts, also a cancer survivor. And as headlines trumpet news of Applegate`s miraculous recovery, Applegate is revealing for the first time the bold and agonizing decision that helped her beat cancer.

APPLEGATE: I had prophylactic double mastectomy.

ANDERSON: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you it`s an interview certain to inspire millions of women.

ALICIA QUARLES, ASSOCIATED PRESS: I think the impact of having Robin Roberts, a cancer survivor, interview Christina Applegate, another cancer survivor, is huge. These women come from opposite sides of the world. One is black, one is white. One is an anchor, one is an actress. One is very comedic, one is very serious most of the time. This just proves that it can happen to anyone.

ANDERSON: Earlier this month, the world first learned that the 36-year-old actress had breast cancer. In her interview, Applegate talked about the earth-shattering diagnosis.

ROBIN ROBERTS, ANCHOR, "GOOD MORNING, AMERICA": What was your initial thought?

APPLEGATE: Oh my god. I was so pissed off. I was so mad. I was just shaking. And then also immediately, I had to go into, you know, take-care- of-business mode.

ANDERSON: And she did take care of business. She had two lumpectomies and tested positive for the gene linked to breast and ovarian cancer. Applegate says that led her to make a radical decision to have both breasts removed even though the cancer was found in only one.

APPLEGATE: I didn`t want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing and squishing and everything. I just wanted to kind of be rid of this whole thing for me. And so this is the choice that I made and it was a tough one.

ANDERSON: Applegate says it was a devastating ordeal.

APPLEGATE: Sometimes you know, I cry. And sometimes I scream. And I get really angry and I get really like, you know, into wallowing in self pity sometimes. And I think, you know, it`s all part of healing. And anyone who is going through it out there, it`s OK to cry. It`s OK to fall on the ground and just scream if you want to.

ANDERSON: Helping Applegate through it was her mother Nancy who herself fought cancer and won.

APPLEGATE: I knew I was going to be OK. I`ve watched her. I`ve watched her have a mastectomy and then I`ve watched her go through two years of chemotherapy and eight surgeries and a hysterectomy. I`ve watched this woman survive both those things. So for me, there was always that sense that I was going to be OK now matter what.

ANDERSON: Now, Applegate has a clean bill of health.

APPLEGATE: I`m clear, absolutely, 100 percent clear and clean. It did not spread. They got everything out.

ANDERSON: Applegate also revealed she`s going to have reconstructive surgery as she flashed that trademark humor.

APPLEGATE: I`m going to have cute boobs until I`m 90. So I`m going to have the best boobs in the nursing home. I`m telling you. I`m going to be the envy of all the ladies around the bridge table.

ANDERSON: Applegate is about to go back to work on "Samantha Who." And she`s in the running to win her second career Emmy award at next month`s ceremony. But she tells Robin Roberts she has an even more pressing mission, starting a program for women to afford the MRIs that Applegate says saved her life.

APPLEGATE: If this had been caught a year from now or when I was 40, I wouldn`t - probably wouldn`t be able to live through this.

QUARLES: Christina Applegate is definitely using this illness and this bad thing that has happened to her to raise awareness and turn it into a positive.

ANDERSON: And that, says Applegate, is the whole point.

APPLEGATE: Yes. I`m going to face challenges. But you can`t get any darker than where I`ve been. So just knowing that in my soul gave me the strength to just say, "I`ve got to get out there and make this a positive."

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: And now, Applegate is lending her name to the fight against cancer. She`s scheduled to appear in a one-hour TV special, "Stand Up to Cancer" that will air September 5th on all four major broadcast networks. Proceeds go to cancer research.

Tonight, it`s the Roseanne versus Brangelina smackdown. Roseanne Barr has launched a remarkable and very personal attack on Hollywood`s most powerful couple, taking on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on everything from their family to their politics. And let me tell you, it`s not pretty.

With me tonight in Hollywood, Ken Baker, executive news editor for "E!" In New York, "VH1 News" host, Janelle Snowden. Janelle, Ken, good to see you.

And hey, we know that Roseanne Barr is known for being outspoken and being offensive at times. But like so many others, I was shocked by what she had to say about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Roseanne ranted and raved on her blog about Brangelina.

And in an open letter to Angelina`s father, Jon Voight, she writes, "Your evil spawn, Angelina Jolie and her vacuous hubby Brad Pitt make about $40 million a year in violent, psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more."

Ken, this is so incredibly vicious. What do you think set her off like this?

KEN BAKER, EXECUTIVE NEWS DIRECTOR, "E!": Well, the word that came to mind for me was "bitter." I mean, she sounds very bitter and angry and I`m not sure why. I don`t think that Brad and Angelina have personally affronted her. I can`t imagine that they even know her, let alone met her at any event. I`ve never seen them together.

But you have to go back a little bit. Let`s rewind. Many years ago, Roseanne, you might remember, sang the national anthem - I believe it was at a baseball game and botched it. Do you remember that?

ANDERSON: Yes.

BAKER: It was horrible, and she came under attack for basically desecrating the flag, desecrating the United States. Well, guess what? She`s desecrating America`s royalty. Brad and Angelina - for all intents and purposes, they`re Hollywood royalty. They are America`s king and queen. And for her to do this is really provocative. She is a provocateur but it can`t be popular.

ANDERSON: You know, it just seems unfathomable to me why she would say such things. It really is hard to criticize people who give so much of their time and money to humanitarian causes. But what I find particularly mind boggling here is that Roseanne dragged their kids into it. Janelle, is she just way out of line here?

JANELLE SNOWDEN, HOST, "VH1 NEWS": I just have to wonder like what did they ever do to her? I mean, not only is she attacking Brad and Angelina`s kids, but then she`s attacking John Voight`s kid in Angelina. You know, you can say what you want about Brad and Angelina and how they choose to live their life. But to say that they are not humanitarians, I think, is a bit off target.

I mean, a lot of people make a lot of money and don`t donate anywhere near what they do, nor do they donate their time. Brad and Angelina have chosen to not just give their time and energy to their causes but to adopt the children and raise them their entire lives. That`s much more than a lot of people can say, and kudos to them for that. I don`t know where all this is coming from.

I think one of the things about blogs these days is that it gives the people opportunity to sort of voice their opinions and have them sort of just land anonymously. But in Roseanne`s case, she`s obviously attaching her name to it for a reason, and so who knows what the reason is. I guess that time will tell.

ANDERSON: Yes, Someone told me once that blogs are like the Wild, Wild West. You never know what you are going to get there. And yes, she not only attacked them for their charitable efforts, she also went after Angelina for her politics. Angelina recently said she`s going to wait before endorsing a presidential candidate to see where they stand on certain issues including international justice and refugees.

That seems reasonable to me, but not to Roseanne. She ripped Jolie apart for not specifically supporting Barack Obama, saying, quote, "Miss Jolie says she likes McCain too and hasn`t decided who to endorse. Huh? Aren`t you supposed to be somewhat enlightened, or don`t you know that the African daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the Republican Party`s worldwide economic assault on Africa over the last few decades since Reagan?"

Ken, what was Roseanne thinking that she would belittle Angelina Jolie into supporting Obama? Isn`t this the wrong way to go about it?

BAKER: Well, certainly, that`s not going to persuade Angelina to endorse Obama. But I think what she`s tapping into is there was a feeling among a lot of people that when Angelina made that statement that she wasn`t endorsing anyone yet and she wanted to analyze the issues, that was kind of disingenuous. Everyone knows that she is very liberal, that she is going to, in the end, support Obama. But she was deliberately, in almost a really annoying way to a lot of people, evading it. And that did annoy a lot of people. So to her defense, I think people did agree that it was very dishonest of Angelina not to say she`s supporting someone and she was really politicking and I think that rubbed people the wrong way.

But when you really look at it, Brad and Angelina - they`re almost too perfect in a lot of ways. And I think that there`s always going to be someone - they say, "No good deed goes unpunished." And I think that - and eventually - and that is nowhere more true than in Hollywood. And I think that eventually was going to happen where people are going to attack them because they`re almost too perfect.

ANDERSON: And you know, I just want to end it with this. On her Web site, Roseanne says that "Crack Pot" is the name she has chosen for herself and that her blog is the home of the "Crack Pot Chronicles." Just saying. Ken Baker, Janelle Snowden, thank you both.

And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT reached out to Angelina`s representatives for comment. As of show time, they did not respond.

All right. I still cannot believe that John Mayer broke one of the unwritten rules of Hollywood breakups - he talked about breaking up with Jennifer Aniston.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: You`re either a cheater or you break up. And I`m not the first; I`m the second one. And that`s it. There`s no lying. There`s no (EXPLETIVE DELETED).

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Why in the world would he do that? Coming up, I`m asking, should John just keep quiet?

Also SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is playing match maker. Who should Jennifer date next?

Also, I`ve got the very first pictures of Ellen`s wedding. Wait until you see these pictures. Ellen DeGeneres marries Portia de Rossi and the pictures -stunning. So I want to know, does Ellen feel different now that she`s tied the knot. That`s next.

And Jennifer Love Hewitt`s body image bombshell. She says she wishes she would have spent her younger years naked. Are you kidding? That`s next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood.

Tonight, we have the first pictures of Ellen DeGeneres` wedding. Ellen married Portia de Rossi over the weekend at their home in Los Angeles. And the first pictures, courtesy of "People:" magazine, are simply stunning. The ceremony was intimate with just 19 guests.

Ellen says that it feels different being married. She says, quote, "I didn`t think it would, because I already had the commitment. I was already planning on spending the rest of my life with her. But until you`re married, you just don`t know. It feels wonderful."

For more about Ellen and Portia`s wedding, pick up a copy of "People" magazine. It will be on newsstands on Friday.

So the marriage may feel different to Ellen, but what about the rest of the country? There`s no doubt that this was the most high-profile celebrity wedding since California legalized same-sex marriage. And it has left some people wondering where is the controversy?

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice over): On the same weekend, both presidential candidates defined marriage as the union between a man and a woman, one of the biggest Hollywood weddings of the year featured a same-sex couple.

On Saturday, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi became the highest- profile couple yet to take advantage of California legalizing same-sex marriage. But what may be more notable than the nuptials is the lack of debate surrounding them.

DAVID CAPLAN, EDITOR, "PEOPLE" MAGAZINE: Ellen didn`t lose popularity because of this. There was no drama. Even in terms of advertising in her shows -

ANDERSON: A far cry from 1997 when Ellen first announced she was gay.

DEGENERES: I`m gay.

ANDERSON: Critics said her career was in jeopardy. And when her TV show was canceled a year later, it looked like they were right.

But what a difference a decade makes. Not only has Ellen made a comeback with a wildly successful daytime talk show, she openly talked on the program about her relationship and impending nuptials.

DEGENERES: I am getting married.

ANDERSON: Gay and lesbian activists say it`s a step in the right direction.

RASHAD ROBINSON, GLAAD: You think about Ellen coming out on her television show, folks saying it was the end of her career and TV couldn`t work. And now you see the tremendous success that she`s had.

ANDERSON: But same-sex marriage remains a lightning rod for controversy and that battle will continue through this election season and beyond.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

Now, Portia says when she first met Ellen, she was on "Ally McBeal" and couldn`t imagine living as an openly gay woman. Portia tells "People" magazine that she was scared but knew she would have to overcome her fears in order to be with Ellen. And now, Ellen is everything to her.

So what do you think about Ellen`s marriage? On Monday, we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day - "Ellen`s Same-Sex Marriage: Are you happy for her?" Seventy-eight percent of you say yes, twenty-two say no.

Here are some of the E-mails we received. Jacki from Indiana writes, "Of course I`m thrilled for Ellen and Portia! This country is supposed to be founded on equality for all, is it not?"

Cheryl from New York says, "Marriage is a sacrament that God intended between man and woman. That`s all that needs to be said."

Uma Thurman is speaking out about fame, getting older in Hollywood and whether she wants more kids. Uma has two children with her ex, Ethan Hawke, and is now engaged to a financeer Arpad Busson.

In an interview with "In Style" magazine, Uma says when it comes to having more kids she can safely say, "I don`t know." She says if it`s meant to happen, it will.

Uma is also speaking out about fame. She even kind of sticks up for the paparazzi, something we don`t hear from stars too often. She says they can definitely be annoying but at the end of the day they are just doing their job.

As for getting older in Hollywood - OK, she`s only 38 - Uma seems to have that in perspective too. She says when she started acting as a teenager, people told her she wouldn`t have work in her 20s or after she had children. She proved everybody wrong. Uma says, quote, "I feel fortunate to have been able to have a creative life during all those different periods. And the characters I get to play as a mature woman are so much more interesting than the ingenues that I got to play as a kid, so I feel OK about it."

For more with Uma Thurman, pick up a copy of "In Style" magazine. It`s on newsstands, Friday.

Well, the one thing Uma isn`t talking about - her breakup with Ethan Hawke. Maybe John Mayer could learn a thing or two, huh? He went on a rant about his breakup with Jennifer Aniston. Should he just keep his mouth shut? And who should Jennifer date next? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT plays matchmaker, coming up.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m Brooke Anderson. Tonight, the outrage over John Mayer`s nutty street- corner rant about why he broke up with Jennifer Aniston. Was he totally out of line or was he just being refreshingly honest?

It all started with John`s emotional plea to the paparazzi to leave him alone while he heals from his breakup from Jen, a relationship that neither of them ever publicly confirmed, and his insistence that he ended the relationship.

But no rant from Jennifer in response. Her spokesperson tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that Jennifer never comments on her personal life. And since Jen seems to be so over John, whom should she date next? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT plays matchmaker for Jennifer Aniston.

With me here in Hollywood, executive news editor for "E!", Ken Baker. In New York, host of "VH1 News" Janelle Snowden. And also, editor-at-large for "Life and Style Weekly," Dawn Yanek.

OK, gang. John Mayer, first of all, wanted to make it perfectly clear in his New York city street corner revelations that he was the one who ended the relationship with Jennifer Aniston. Watch this -

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: You know, if you guys are going to run stuff, and run every lie under the sun, have somebody stand up for somebody, and have me as a man ended a relationship. You`re either a cheater or your break up and I`m not the first; I`m the second one. I ended a relationship because there is no lying. I ended a relationship to be alone because I don`t want to waste somebody`s time.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: All right. So by my count, at least three times he said that he ended the relationship. Janelle, why do you think John was so intent on letting the world know that he broke it off, not her?

SNOWDEN: I wish I could tell you. I have been asking myself this all day. Honestly, I have had nothing else to think about. But I have to tell you, I am like - I used to be a huge John Mayer fan. I`ve interviewed him so many times. I`ve always thought of him as one of the funniest people ever to interview. He`s got such a quick wit and one of the things I`ve always liked about him is he doesn`t take himself that seriously.

ANDERSON: Yes.

SNOWDEN: He always makes fun himself, makes fun of the press, uses the press to his advantage. He even appeared on TMZ recently as a guest host where he went along the streets of Soho and even acted like the paparazzi confronting other celebrities. I mean, this whole thing just seems like one big joke to him. This was one of the more somber moments that I`ve seen from John. And I can understand why. I mean, breakups are hard -

ANDERSON: Yes.

SNOWDEN: But it`s so high school, like who cares who broke up with whom? Breakups are devastating, like do we really care?

ANDERSON: I agree with you. I really like John Mayer, too, and I love his music. Got a lot of it on my iPod. But from a woman`s perspective, you know what? I think maybe he may have said a little too much. And he said he was doing that because he just wanted to set the record straight because he`s been so hounded by the press about his relationship with Jen and he wanted to prevent that now that they`ve split. And Mayer also says that hey, he`s going through a hard time too. Listen to this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: I`m going through something that`s a very personal thing that you have to give that up. You have to give everything up because you can`t have it all. And it sucks. It sucks.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Dawn, I`ve got to ask, was he just being honest here, or was he just being a big old blabber mouth?

DAWN YANEK, EDITOR-AT-LARGE, "LIFE AND STYLE WEEKLY": Probably a little bit of both. You know, John Mayer is not on the shy side. He`s known for his blogging. He puts a lot out there, more so than a lot of the other celebrities do. Of course, he broke the huge unspoken rule of celebrity dating - you do not kiss and tell. I think he`s wracking up some really, really bad karma here. And on top of it, Jennifer Aniston is a super private celebrity so a lot of no-noes on this one.

ANDERSON: Yes. And speaking of privacy, what John Mayer did is kind of breaking the number one rule in celebrity dating which is, don`t say anything. John already has a reputation of being a serial dater who loves the Hollywood starlets. But Ken Baker, is anybody going to want to date him after this public exposure?

BAKER: Well, I don`t think Jennifer Aniston is going to want to date him again, that`s very clear. But it really was interesting to hear him talk about that. And you started to get insight into the dynamics of what his relationship with Jen Aniston may have been like, which is like was said, she`s very private. She`s very guarded. She`s one of the most guarded celebrities there is. And yet, John Mayer is very open. And when he was going out with Jennifer Aniston, he had to change himself.

And I think that the John that we saw on the street corner over the weekend was the real John. He`s outspoken. He tells it like it is, and that probably didn`t sit well with Jennifer Aniston. And I thought that`s a big reason why he called it off.

ANDERSON: Yes, you know, I really admire when people are direct so that`s why I kind of go back and forth on this. I`m having a tough time. I want people to lay it all out there in my life.

And you know, Jennifer Aniston - now that this is all been said, let`s put it all in the past because we want to find you the right guy. So we here at SHOWBIZ TONIGHT are playing matchmaker.

And here`s the question: Whom should Jennifer Aniston date next? And here`s the lineup. Should she date the ultimate Hollywood bachelor George Clooney, or maybe eight-time gold medalist Michael Phelps who`s probably the most famous person on the planet right now? Or should she leave Hollywood behind and date a regular guy? Janelle, what do you think?

SNOWDEN: I think D, she should date a woman. I mean, come on, let`s think about it. A woman might be more sensitive to her needs. I mean, there are plenty of people in Hollywood that could give her advice on playing for that other team these days, and it seems to be working for them. So I think, you know what? Go that way, Jen. I, for one, am going to stick it out, but you never know. To each her own. Can I just point out - I want to point out that - does anyone else find this odd but me? Like until this day, we hadn`t even known for sure - I mean, of course, we all pretty much knew. But they had never confirmed that they were dating -

ANDERSON: That`s true.

SNOWDEN: So then to confirm the break up? Huh?

ANDERSON: And you`re talking about her maybe her dating a woman. Yes, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi - maybe they could give her some advice. They just had their wonderful wedding over the weekend. And Dawn, I want to throw it to you dawn? What do you say? Clooney, Phelps, someone non- famous or someone like Janelle says?

YANEK: Oh, I think that`s a great suggestion that I had not thought of. OK. Here`s my idea on the rundown. Clooney - love him, but he is the quintessential bachelor. That man is never settling down. He also happens to be her ex`s best friend, so that`s just not up. Michael Phelps - love him, but you know what? Way, way, way too young for her and he has also been linked to two blonds lately, fellow Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard and also a British model. So who I think is no (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

So I think who she should date is somebody who is in the entertainment field but who`s not an actor or a musician. So she needs like an executive producer, a writer, a director.

ANDERSON: Oh, I like that.

YANEK: Take a page from Kate Beckinsale and Kate Winslet. I think that`s the way to go.

ANDERSON: That`s a good one, Dawn. And you know, a let`s just say maybe it`s not Phelps, Clooney or somebody on the spotlight. Here`s what SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is asking, should Jen maybe try online dating or maybe a good old fashioned singles bar or should she head to reality TV as the next bachelorette? Ken, what do you think?

BAKER: Well, she hasn`t had a hit TV show since "Friends" went off the air, and it`s been quite a long time. So, you know, it wouldn`t be that bad of a career move to get her back on television. But you know, seriously, I think what she needs to do is really just find a regular guy. And I would even say in the business as an executive producer, just someone completely out of the field, out of the industry because that seems to be where she`s happiest. She doesn`t like her relationships to be analyzed. She doesn`t want the spotlight with her relationships. So I think she should just go and go down to, you know, the street corner and find some - like a cool guy and hang out and just get it over with.

ANDERSON: Janelle, very quickly, online dating, a bar, "The Bachelorette" - what do you think?

SNOWDEN: Craigslist. Definitely Craigslist. You can buy a house. You can buy furniture. You can buy a car. Why not find a date?

ANDERSON: You know what? You could probably do that as well. You`re right. And you all have fabulous suggestions. But I think maybe she should spend some time away from the dating scene. Nothing wrong with being alone if that`s what works for you.

Ken Baker, Janelle Snowden, Dawn Yanek, thank you. It was a lot of fun.

YANEK: Thank you.

ANDERSON: And whom do you think Jennifer Aniston should date next? E-mail us, showbiztonight@cnn.com.

Well, I can tell you that Jennifer Love Hewitt doesn`t need a date. She`s getting married. But tonight, she`s revealing a naked truth, literally. Why J-Love says she wishes she could have been nude from ages 12 to 28. You`ve got to hear her controversial body image message, next.

Plus the cereal box he`s going to end up on, and it`s not Wheaties. You want to stick around for that.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson.

Tonight, Jennifer Love-Hewitt`s startling body image confession. Get this, J-Love who stars on CBS` "Ghost Whisperer" says that she wishes she had been nude from the time she was 12 until she was 28.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter joins me tonight in Hollywood. What`s going on with this, Kareen?

KAREEN WYNTER, CNN ENTERTAINMENT CORRESPONDENT: Hey there, Brooke. Well, listen to this. In the September issue of "Health Magazine," Jennifer Love-Hewitt is speaking out about her body image issues and I can tell you she leaves nothing to the imagination saying, quote, "I so wish I had listened to my mom and grandma when I was 18 and would complain about some little tiny bump or feeling bloated. They`d say, `Sweetheart, appreciate it for all it`s worth because it changes when you get into your 30s.` I used to scoff and say, `No, I feel fat today.` Now the joke is on me. I wish I had been nude from the time I was 12 until I was 28. I looked great." How is that for honesty, Brooke?

ANDERSON: Yes. She is very honest and open, Kareen. And I`m sure that so many women can relate to that inner dialogue that Jennifer Love-Hewitt was having about her own body image issues that started for her at the age of 18. In fact, in her interview with "Health Magazine," Jennifer also had a message to young girls out there, didn`t she?

WYNTER: You know, she certainly did. You know that expression, "hindsight is 20/20." Well, Love-Hewitt says she can now quit all of her worrying about what she ate and how she looked into perspective.

And her advice to young girls is a pretty simple formula, Brooke. Love-Hewitt says, quote, "I want to tell all young girls to walk around in bikinis all summer and enjoy it. I want to tell them to never ever feel bad about anything because there will be that one day in your 20s when you`ll eat a hamburger and actually see the hamburger on the side of your leg." I think I can relate to that.

ANDERSON: Oh, I can as well, Kareen. It`s a terrific message to share and some real words of wisdom, don`t you think, coming from a star what has been in the spotlight since her teen years on that TV show "Party of Five" back in the `90s.

ANDERSON: And you know, Brooke, hearing Jennifer Love-Hewitt open up so candidly about her own issues - you know, it makes me think young girls out there are really going to probably take this to heart and perhaps even listen to what she has to say.

ANDERSON: Yes, I hope so. And Kareen, they would also do themselves a favor, you know, by watching a powerful new film called "America, The Beautiful." And you know a lot about this.

WYNTER: I sure do. It`s a brand-new documentary, Brooke, that explores this whole obsession with staying thin, skinny, looking perfectly - perfect. In addition to speaking with the film`s producer, I sat down with Garren Taylor, a teen model whose quest for the perfect body - it almost cost her dearly. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WYNTER: Beauty -

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We`re not going to put someone ugly on our cover. It`s not going to sell.

WYNTER: Body image -

ANDERSON: I weigh 130 pounds. I mean, I`ve already been told I have to lose 15 pounds.

WYNTER: America`s sometimes unhealthy obsession with looking good. The new documentary, "America, The Beautiful," examines the ugly side of beauty and the lengths some will go to achieve it.

DARRYL ROBERTS, PRODUCER, "AMERICA, THE BEAUTIFUL": The first thing I did was I interviewed 200 women. One of the questions that I asked all of them was do you feel attractive. Only two said yes. So it`s possible that 99 percent of women who just walk on the streets randomly not feeling good about themselves.

(to girls): When you see the images how does it make you feel?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Ugly.

WYNTER: Producer Darryl Roberts says the women blamed the skinny images on fashion magazines for their flaws. So he began to wonder if pretty people in fact have it all. Part of his documentary profiles a then 12-year-old rising model -

ROBERTS: Now, that`s Garren.

WYNTER: Who booked runway shows from New York to Paris. Then it all ended.

GARREN TAYLOR, RISING MODEL: You find it weird to call me obese. Obese? OK. When I walk, my legs don`t even rub together.

WYNTER: Roberts who filmed Garren Taylor over four years says little did he know he was actually documenting her downfall. Garren, now 18, says she was labeled fat when she began fitting into a size four, so she starved herself.

TAYLOR: Because of what the industry was telling me, and I was trying to get back to a certain weight and size.

WYNTER: The high school senior now spends her days in a classroom instead of on the catwalk. Roberts says she`s an example of how unrealistic beauty standards can chip away at a girl`s self esteem and career.

ROBERTS: We need to get it in check because we are entering a state of moral decay if we don`t.

WYNTER: Garren Taylor still dabbles in modeling, but says her focus now is to become a role model for others.

TAYLOR: If I do a fashion show, I`m going to be walking for the entirety of women. I`m not just going to be a clothes hanger walking down the runway.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: Kareen, it really sounds like Garren was able to take all that pressure to look a certain way and turn it into something positive instead of becoming a victim to it. How is she doing now?

WYNTER: Well, Brooke, she still struggles but she`s a lot stronger than she was and Garren even tells me that every time she tells her story, she gains a little more inner strength. You know, I can tell you, Brooke, it`s not an easy battle, though.

ANDERSON: No, it`s not. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter, thank you so much for joining us.

WYNTER: Sure.

ANDERSON: All right. The world cannot stop talking about this Michael Phelps guy. And tonight, I can show you his brand-new "Sports Illustrated" cover. Phelps is wearing his eight swimming gold medals, the most ever won by an athlete in the Olympic Games - in one Olympic Games rather. The shot is a nod to another swimming great, Mark Spitz who won seven gold medals at the 1972 Munich Olympics and took a similar picture back then.

Now, Phelps who`s actually won a total of 14 Olympic medals stands to make a lot of money from his amazing success in the pool. He`s got some big endorsements already lined up from Visa, Hilton Hotels, AT&T. Phelps also has nearly 800,000 Facebook friends.

So, on "Good Morning, America," Phelps reveals just how he`s going to spend all this cash.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MICHAEL PHELPS, SWIMMER, EIGHT-TIME OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST: I bought a new house in Baltimore and I`m moving back home. Nothing else really yet. I`m going to probably have some fun when I get home, buy some new toys and I don`t know, just be a kid.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: A kid with a lot of green and gold. Oh, and by the way, you won`t see Phelps on any Wheaties boxes. He`s got a deal with Kellog`s and it will be either frosted flakes or corn flakes that you will see him on.

And now we want to hear from you about this. It`s our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day - "Michael Phelps: Would you buy something because he endorsed it?" Vote at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight. E-mail us - the address, showbiztonight@cnn.com.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: You want to make some money?

CAGE: $2,000 a day.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: What`s your name?

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: The man and the kid.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: He has many country girls. He buys them from the parents and sell them.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: This guy.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: That guy I help support. Thai people love him. He`s a very good man, same like you.
