Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City. And tonight, the showdown countdown. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is revealing brand-new explosive information about two big showdowns coming on Monday - Rihanna testifying against Chris Brown about his alleged beating of her and what may be the final showdown between Jon and Kate.

Just one day after the explosive revelation that Jon and Kate will tell once and for all whether or not they`re getting divorced, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has now obtained never-before-seen clips from the show everyone is waiting to see. TLC dropped a bombshell when it reveal that had Monday`s episode of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" will not be the usual vanilla-coated version of Jon and Kate`s lives which have been rocked by claims of affairs and cheating.

And what SHOWBIZ TONIGHT discovered today about what might happen is making big news right now.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

K. GOSSELIN: We`ve been dealing with this for a long time.

HAMMER (voice-over): SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has obtained this brand-new preview of Monday`s special episode of "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

JON GOSSELIN, REALITY TV STAR, "JON & KATE PLUS 8": It just got worse and worse and worse.

HAMMER: As Jon and Kate Gosselin promise a special announcement on Monday`s episode of their show -

K. GOSSELIN: Recently we`ve made some life-changing decisions -

HAMMER: Millions of people who were following the ups and downs of this famous troubled couple are reaching a sad conclusion about what that announcement will be.

JO PIAZZA, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: We know in the TV world what a very special episode means. It means divorce, someone`s losing their virginity or someone`s going to rehab. So I`m going for divorce here. I think that`s what`s in the cards for Jon and Kate.

HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you it appears the real-life drama of this family raising eight adorable children -

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE CHILD: We`re turning 5 -

HAMMER: Is about to enter a disturbing chapter that, frankly, many of us have been expecting for sometime now.

J. GOSSELIN: I have changed but I`m now the person I know I am.

HAMMER: Is this finally the end for Jon and Kate?

PIAZZA: Anyone that`s been tuning into the show knows that something big is coming and that something big is probably divorce.

HAMMER: From the time their reality show went on the air in 2007, Jon and Kate have been famous for their bickering as they raise their twin girls and sextuplets.

K. GOSSELIN: Please don`t squish the cereal in your anger.

J. GOSSELIN: I`m not squishing anything.

HAMMER: But recently, celebrity magazines have been buzzing about the Gosselin`s growing marital troubles, their his-and-her cheating scandals and their apparent separation.

K. GOSSELIN: I remember thinking that this possibly could be, maybe - I don`t know - our last family picture.

HAMMER: They`ve acknowledged their problems on their show.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What`s the status of where you guys are right now?

K. GOSSELIN: I wish I knew.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE CHILD: I love you.

J. GOSSELIN: I love you.

HAMMER: And watching the effect of the problems on the children has, at times, been heartbreaking.

J. GOSSELIN: Miss me? . Go play.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE CHILD: Daddy, I don`t want you to leave anymore.

HAMMER: But so far, the Gosselins haven`t said anything concrete about the state of their marriage or its future, despite the fact that they hardly ever appear together anymore in person or on camera.

PIAZZA: For all intents and purposes, this couple has not been together for at least a month, maybe more.

HAMMER: So now, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has to ask if Jon and Kate do split up, what will happen to their kids and what will happen to their show?

PIAZZA: They`re both under contract to continue this show. So Jon and Kate will go on. It`s just a question of whether or not it`s "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

HAMMER: "Jon & Kate Plus 8" is TLC`s highest-rated show. And the Gosselins have said they depend on the millions they make from the show to help raise their army of kids.

K. GOSSELIN: Now, blow. Everybody blow.

HAMMER: So not many people expect the show to end even if Jon and Kate split.

PIAZZA: There are ways to continue this show. They can show Jon and Kate with joint custody of the kids, four with Jon, four with Kate, six and two - there`s plenty of combinations they can have.

But at the same time, I don`t know if anyone really wants to watch a show like that on TLC.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A special one-hour "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

HAMMER: But it`s only natural to hold a glimmer of hope that maybe we`ll get a happy announcement on Monday. Maybe Jon and Kate are announcing a project with the octomom or maybe Kate`s pregnant again.

Or could Jon and Kate be announcing that they`re going to try to work things out after all? Entertainment journalist Jo Piazza isn`t optimistic.

PIAZZA: I don`t think there`s any way they can get back together. I think that enough bridges have been burned.

K. GOSSELIN: We can`t go back now. We can only go forward.

HAMMER: So even if a happy ending isn`t in the cards for Monday, maybe we`ll see this troubled family finally get some peace.

K. GOSSELIN: I know we`ll all come out of this on the other side hopefully stronger, better, wiser.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Well, now, we`d like to hear from you for our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Here`s what we need to know - "Jon and Kate: Can their marriage be saved?" Vote at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight or E-mail us at showbiztonight@cnn.com.

Now the SHOWBIZ countdown involving Chris Brown and Rihanna. Now, if all goes as planned, Rihanna will take the witness stand on Monday and tell in chilling detail how Chris Brown allegedly beat her up the night before the Grammys. But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT did some digging today. And we can now reveal why all may not go as planned.

With us tonight in Hollywood is investigative journalist Pat Lalama who has been covering the Rihanna-Chris Brown story since it first broke. And with us tonight in New York, Ben Widdicombe, who covers the story as the celebrity editor for "StyleList.com."

So here`s the setting for the superstar showdown Monday, Rihanna is scheduled to testify at what is to be a preliminary hearing in Los Angeles to determine if Chris Brown will be tried on domestic violence charges.

Pat Lalama, to you first. I think it is fair to say that she is a reluctant witness here, isn`t she? Because even though she said she would cooperate and is cooperating, I`d have to believe that she`d rather have this whole thing just kind of go away so she can get on with her life?

PAT LALAMA, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: A.J., here`s what`s really, really important about Monday`s hearing. It`s a prelim. Only the judge hears the evidence. It doesn`t matter if Rihanna is a reluctant witness. It doesn`t matter if she allegedly struck first.

All the courts care about is, is there enough solid evidence to turn this over, to bind it over to an actual trial. And what`s important to the prosecutors is to prove to the judge, look at the severity of this photograph.

They only care about the seriousness of the charge and whether he`s responsible, not whether she wants to blubber on the stand and talk about how she still loves him. That doesn`t matter. It`s all about the seriousness of the charge, and that looks pretty serious.

HAMMER: Let`s not forget the pictures that were leaked showing Rihanna`s battered face after the alleged attack. And let`s not forget the chilling police statement of what they say happened that night to Rihanna whose real name is Robyn, "Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.`s mouth to fill with blood and blood to spatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle. Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, `I`m going to beat the (EXPLETIVE DELETED) out of you when we get home! You wait and see!`"

Now, Ben, given how hard Chris Brown has been working to revamp his image, I can`t imagine that he would ever want that repeated for the whole world to potentially hear and straight from Rihanna`s mouth, no less.

BEN WIDDICOMBE, CELEBRITY EDITOR, "STYLELIST.COM": Well, you know, that is such a hard statement to hear read, isn`t it, when you imagine what happened to Rihanna that night. But it seems to me that both sides are playing hardball on this.

Rihanna`s own attorney has made it very clear for quite some time now that she will cooperate with prosecutors. At the same time, Chris Brown chose to plead not guilty when he could have organized a plea deal which would have saved the preliminary hearing which is happening on Monday. So I think both sides seem to be wanting to gear up for a fight here.

HAMMER: Yes, but let me throw this to you, Pat. It seems to me that the only way for Chris Brown to keep Rihanna silent at this point is to do some kind of a plea deal. What could he possibly gain by letting Rihanna go ahead with this, even if it`s just the judge hearing it, to decide if they`re going to move forward? It`s pretty damning. I find this mind- boggling.

LALAMA: It is damning. Here`s the deal. It depends on what kind of ball the prosecutor wants to play. I think Mark Geragos and company clearly want to try to keep Chris from getting behind bars. That`s going to be the sticking point.

My guess is that the prosecution is looking at the severity of this case and saying, "how can we" - and let`s not forget, a district attorney`s office has lost a lot of celebrity cases. How can we make any kind of a deal that allows this guy to just have probation?

So I`ll bet you, they`re haggling. I have no doubt. I know Mark Geragos well. They`re haggling behind the scenes, but the sticking point is going to be what kind of jail time. And I think he doesn`t want to go to jail.

HAMMER: Well, yes, let me ask you about that, Pat. Because if they cop a plea here, does that necessarily mean jail time? It sounds to me like you`re saying maybe not.

LALAMA: No -

HAMMER: But I cannot imagine if they do cop a plea so you get the conviction, that people would not be outraged if he didn`t spend at least some time behind bars.

LALAMA: Right. Well, you know, there`s a lot of celebrities we think should have been behind bars in the course of the years that I`ve covered the DAs Office that didn`t get it.

But here`s the thing. Here`s what`s in his favor. He doesn`t have a criminal past. But A.J., this is not a misdemeanor. This is a felony.

HAMMER: Yes.

LALAMA: This is serious. Read the evidence. I can`t imagine that the prosecution can say, "All right. We`re just going to give you probation and some anger management."

HAMMER: Right.

LALAMA: I just can`t see that happening.

HAMMER: Well, we`ll be watching on Monday. Pat Lalama, Ben Widdicombe, I thank you both.

And you definitely don`t want to miss showdown countdown first, Rihanna set to take the stand in the alleged assault case against Chris Brown.

And then, "Jon & Kate Plus 8" reveals a dramatic life-changing announcement. Will they split? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT will be the only entertainment news show bringing you the late-breaking developments Monday, 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific. And that happens right here on HLN. You will not want to miss it.

But tonight, the fallout from a possible Jon and Kate divorce. I`ve got to tell you, the stakes here are really, really high. What it means for their eight kids - could it end their wildly popular show?

Plus, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the explosive reaction to a new Gosselin family controversy - Kate photographed spanking one of her kids.

Plus Angelina Jolie`s emotional and remarkable new mission, why she is so passionate, breaking down in tears. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT dares to ask, are Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt now the most powerful celebrity couple in the world?

SACHA BARON COHEN, ACTOR (as Bruno): This is the most important movie starring a gay Austrian since "Terminator 2."

HAMMER: Bravo, Bruno. He`s everywhere - cheek-to-cheek with Eminem, getting naked just like Jennifer Aniston - Is there anything Bruno can`t do? The never shy and often pantless Bruno, coming up next. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

Tonight, Bruno gone wild. He is the hottest thing in hot pants right now. Sacha Baron Cohen`s Bruno character, for his new movie, is showing up absolutely everywhere.

And from punking Paula Abdul to prancing around at premieres to baring all on magazine covers, Bruno never fails to make an impression.

Here`s CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): When you`ve dangled in a rap star`s face not wearing pants -

COHEN: Eminem, nice to meet you -

MOOS: What`s the big deal with wearing hot pants? Strutting to "I Will Survive" dressed like a Buckingham Palace guard, Sacha Baron Cohen`s gay Austrian fashionista character known as Bruno, arrived at the London premiere for his movie. That`s the disco version of "God Save the Queen." God save us all from Bruno.

COHEN: I`m not interested in you either. You may find this hard to believe, but I`m gay. Go to the bridge and get over it.

MOOS: He`s just trying to sell a movie.

COHEN: This is the most important movie starring a gay Austrian since "Terminator 2."

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, ACTOR: Hasta la vista, baby.

MOOS: In Bruno`s imaginary world, half the world is gay.

COHEN: Gay is the new straight. Your prime minister - what`s he called?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Gordon Brown.

COHEN: Gordon Brown is the gayest guy I`ve ever seen in my life. Come out!

MOOS: Bruno in a box graces the latest cover of "GQ" calling it the magazine`s first completely nude cover. Jennifer Aniston was tearing a tie. "The Huffington Post" ran a poll asking who has the hotter cover? Aniston was ahead but only by a hair.

(on camera): Speaking of which, Bruno is not only without clothes. He`s without body hair, totally man-scaped. "GQ" says that he had a full day of beauty the day before the shoot.

(voice-over): He also appears wearing an Yves Saint Laurent collar and leash and getting ready to take a hike with a high school football team. P

Paula Abdul probably wishes Bruno would take a hike. She told kiss FM John, Jay and Rich that Bruno punked her for his movie, lured her to an interview and a room with no furniture.

PAULA ABDUL, "AMERICAN ABDUL" JUDGE: ... snaps his finger and these two Mexican guys come in and they drop down on all fours and goes, "Go ahead, sit there." And he pushes me down on them and he kicks one of them and we all fall.

MOOS: Sort of makes putting your feet on the couch seem tame, Paula.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: I bet she`d watch it. That was CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. You can catch Bruno when it hits theaters on July 10th.

Well, this is certainly no joke. The "Showbiz on Call" lines have been ringing like crazy with people calling in about reality TV mom Kate Gosselin`s huge caught-on-tape spanking controversy. Kate is a working mom, just like our hard-working "Showbiz on Call" operators.

Hey, ladies, thank you for all you do. All right. Well, they plugged us into this call into "Showbiz on Call" from Annette in California who`s got a brood of her own, seven kids. And she says, a mom`s got to do what a mom`s got to do.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

ANNETTE, CALLER FROM CALIFORNIA: I would like to say that I don`t think there`s anything wrong with Kate spanking her daughter. I`m a 26-year-old mother and I have seven children. And sometimes, if you have to spank one of your children, as long as it`s not anymore other than the bottom, there`s nothing wrong with that. And she doesn`t need to justify herself to anybody.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: Well, thank you, Annette. We also heard from Melissa calling into "Showbiz on Call" who says we should be giving Kate a shoutout and not shouting at her.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

MELISSA, CALLER: I have a comment on Jon and Kate. I think we should leave the poor lady alone. She has gone through enough. She has eight beautiful children and she`s doing whatever she can to be a mother and make sure that they have whatever they need growing up.

I think people need to step off and realize when they see a strong woman in the world, everybody freaks out. We need to start giving these people high-fives and saying, "Yay! Women are finally reaching the top."

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: We appreciate your call, Melissa. Thanks a lot. Call us at "Showbiz on Call" to let us know what you think about this, let us know what you think about anything. The "Showbiz on Call" lines are always open at 1-888-SBT-BUZZ; that`s 1-888-728-2899.

Well, we all know Angelina Jolie is a remarkable mom who does it all. And now, she`s got a brand-new mission. Tonight, Angelina`s new battle that made her break down in tears on TV.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANGELINA JOLIE, ACTRESS: I hate crying in this program. I think of him and I can`t complain about anything. I can`t do anything but be grateful for what I have.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT asks, are she and Brad Pitt the most powerful celebrity couple on the planet?

Plus, are Jon and Kate really getting a divorce? The unbelievable fallout, their eight young kids, their reality TV show. So what happens now? Plus, the explosive reaction to the new Kate spanking controversy.

And President Barack Obama tells the world why he thinks he`s an imperfect father. Wait until you hear his emotional and heartfelt words about being a dad. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JUSTIN CHAMBERS, ACTOR (as Dr. Alex Karev): You`re back. Iz - Izzie. Yang!

ELLEN POMPEO, ACTRESS (as Dr. Meredith Grey): It`s George! It`s George! John Doe is George.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: The season five "Grey`s Anatomy" cliffhanger had everybody wondering did George make it after getting hit by a bus? What about Izzie? Did she survive?

Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert! We`ve got the big "Grey" season fix scoop right here.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. So there`s been all kinds of speculation that real-life BFFs T.R. Knight, who plays George, and Katherine Heigl who plays Izzie were so over "Grey`s Anatomy," they wanted out. And the next thing you know, their characters are both on death`s door.

Tonight, we`ve got big news for both stars. So here`s the deal. T.R. Knight won`t be back next season. Knight got out of his contract which had him playing the lovable George for another three years.

So what about Katherine Heigl? Well, she is coming back. We don`t know for sure what happens to her in that operating room, but Katherine will be back next season.

Tonight, Richard Simmons makes CNN`s Anderson Cooper go ga-ga. Did you see this? One of my favorite larger-than-life personalities, Richard Simmons, dropped by "ANDERSON COOPER 360" to talk about his kids` health care initiative.

Richard gets all passionate about fighting childhood obesity. And I`ve got to tell you, it had to be one of the few times I`ve ever seen Richard sitting still for longer than five seconds. But that didn`t last long. What happened next is sure to go down as history as one of the most unforgettable moments ever on "AC 360." Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RICHARD SIMMONS, FITNESS GURU: A kid who moves is the kid that learns. I`ve been to 26 schools this year. I`ve taught classes. They`re so excited when the music goes on.

ANDERSON COOPER, HOST, "AC 360": Yes.

SIMMONS: They know all the songs. They feel good. And we have to do this for our kids or they will become overweight teenagers and they`ll become overweight adults. And what`s going to happen with their health care system?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Anderson, you could dance to set a good example for the kids. I`m just saying, mister. I won`t dance on "Ellen."

COOPER: Yes. I can`t dance - no.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Maybe it will help the kids.

SIMMONS: Oh, yes, you danced with Ellen and Kelly.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No, he won`t dance. Richard will dance. See.

SIMMONS: Come on, Lady Gaga. Come on, Anderson. Give it up! You did it with Kelly Ripa. What about me?

COOPER: No, I didn`t.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What about Richard?

SIMMONS: She wasn`t in a cute outfit like this.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. The best part about that for me, though, I don`t think I`ve ever seen Anderson laugh quite that hard.

Time now for the SHOWBIZ lineup. Here`s what`s coming up at the bottom of the hour on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Angelina`s remarkable and emotional battle. Plus, are Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt the most powerful couple in the world?

TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.

(MUSIC)

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It`s 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

Tonight, the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT showdown countdown to the ultimate Jon and Kate confrontation. Tonight, the brand-new breaking developments. Are we about to see the biggest Jon and Kate shocker yet? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has now obtained another advance look at the special "Jon & Kate Plus 8" episode Monday in which they may announce that they`re getting divorced. This follows the other big bombshell announcement -

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

K. GOSSELIN: Recently, we`ve made some life-changing decisions - decisions that will affect every member of our family, ones that we hope will bring each of us some peace.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, I don`t think anyone would disagree. Jon and Kate have certainly had no peace at all in their lives since the allegations of cheating on both sides began.

And now tonight, outrage over those pictures of Kate apparently spanking one of her eight kids. Our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook page is just on fire about this. You won`t believe what some people are saying. Our E- mail inbox is flooded as well.

Joining me tonight from Hollywood, Pat Lalama, an investigative journalist. From New York is Ben Widdicombe who is the celebrity editor for "StyleList.com."

So you, me, everyone waiting to see what`s going to happen on Monday. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has just gotten our hot little hands all over this brand-new scene from the show that`s going to air on Monday. And it is a bombshell.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

K. GOSSELIN: We haven`t really known where we were going. But we`ve been dealing with this for a long time, slow progression that has not popped up one day. It`s not been like a secret.

J. GOSSELIN: It just got worse and worse and worse. And with all the tabloids and all that - it just made it even worse.

K. GOSSELIN: We can`t go back now. We can only go forward. And that`s what we`re going to do. And we`re going to learn a lot going forward and I know that we`ll all come out of this on the other side hopefully stronger, better, wiser.

J. GOSSELIN: People think I`ve changed. And I have changed. But I`m now the person I know I am.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow, all right. Pat Lalama, I want to begin with you, because I`m sure you have a Lalamanian theory about this. They are still not sitting on that couch together. And Kate is saying right there that they`re going to come out of this, whatever this is, wiser and stronger. This really does seem to be a do-or-die situation for Jon and Kate?

LALAMA: Can I just say this? I want to meet the man or woman who`s in charge of promoting this show. That person is a veritable genius. I want to - I`ll buy cocktail just to sit down and ask this person, "How are you so great at building this kind of suspense?"

I`m in the grocery store yesterday with my jug of milk going, "I`m not going to pick - no, no I`m not going to pick up this magazine. I`m not going to do it!"

OK, I don`t know if it`s going to be a divorce. All I know is whatever is going to happen in the future, they`re going to get rich off of it. That`s all I can say at this point.

HAMMER: All right. Ben Widdicombe, do-or-die for Jon and Kate?

WIDDICOMBE: You know, I actually disagree with Pat. I think there`s been a bit of a backlash against TLC. They`ve clearly been using the misery of this couple to drag the audience along by the nose.

You know, I think they`re in a lit of a no-win situation. On the one hand, they have these geese who were laying the golden eggs. If they split up, it`s going to give the audience the pop that they want. But it might sabotage the whole franchise. So, you know, we won`t know until Monday what they`re promoting. It`s going to be something big. But it`s hard to see how TLC is really going to win in this.

HAMMER: Well, they`re going to win in the fact that we could see another 10 million people tuning in to see exactly what`s going to happen. These brand-new statements that is Jon and Kate are making, really a far cry from what Jon and Kate were saying when the news of their alleged cheating scandals first broke.

I want you to watch what Kate told Larry King. This was back on May 7th when these cheating allegations first surfaced. Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

K. GOSSELIN: The tabloids are going crazy again. You know, it`s a result of our situation, our very public lives. We, as you know, have a reality show. Everyone wants to know everything about us. And I feel like this is a situation where, you know, you can`t believe everything that you read. You know that. I know that.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. So she was saying right there, you can`t believe everything that you read. Pat, regardless of whether or not they announce that they`re getting divorced on Monday, do you think that Kate has to address the cheating scandals during their special show?

LALAMA: You know, I have - I am of two minds on this. You know, I have it right here - I`m not supposed to show you the picture. But it`s a magazine I picked up from - it starts with an S, begins with an R.

And it`s a photograph of the family and Kate and Jon are smiling wildly and I can`t find one of the eight children smiling. Certainly, the weight, the burden of fame and fortune has taken its toll. If they`re going to separate, there`s a part of me says this is so scarring for children. Children of divorce have so many lifelong issues. Just kill the show, go home and do this privately.

The other side of me says, wait a minute. Maybe this can be a learning tool. Maybe we can do in a positive way that helps everybody if they keep it on the air. I`m totally for them.

HAMMER: Yes. Pat, I totally hear what you`re saying. But I also really think obviously divorce, hard enough on kids. Divorce for a couple on TV with the whole world watching - wow. I mean, I can`t even fathom that.

Now, if they do announce that they`re getting divorced or maybe that they`re separating, what do you think, Ben? How do you think this once really family-friendly show could possibly go on? Could it ever be the way it was or does it have to take a complete left turn?

WIDDICOMBE: Well, you know, I think if they do split up, there`s at least one more season left in the show. I suspect that the way they do is that they won`t say, "We`re divorcing." They might say, "We`re separating and we`ll see if that works it out."

And you know, leaving open the door that maybe there might be reconciliation in another episode or another season.

LALAMA: Right. Right.

WIDDICOMBE: So I think that`s how they`ll do it. And the gossip rags in New York this week have been saying that Jon has been apparently shopping for an apartment in Trump Tower here. So that`s not a very good sign.

HAMMER: Well, we`ve been asking on air and online in our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day this - "Jon and Kate: Can their marriage be saved?"

Pat, what do you think? Can it be saved or do you think divorce really is their only option at this point?

LALAMA: You know, it`s a personal thing. And I think it depends on how far gone they are. I mean, sometimes, you just can`t look back, A.J. I think we`ve all experienced that in our lives. You know, you give it a go. We just don`t know because we`re not inside their minds. I`m hoping it will. I`m praying for the best on this.

HAMMER: Now, there`s also this spanking scandal - Kate photographed spanking her daughter, Leah. And on the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook page, our fans are outraged. Venesia writes, "I don`t see what the problem is if she spanks them or not. Numerous children have been spanked in public. She`s only been criticized because she is on television. I received spankings and it teaches kids that there are consequences for their actions."

Let me read one more. This is Katie M. writing in, "I don`t condone Kate`s actions, but they are her kids. If she wants to spank them, that is her choice. I personally won`t ever hit my kids, but who am I to tell others how to raise their children?"

What do you think, Ben? Most of our Facebook comments that we`re getting our fans saying Kate did nothing wrong. What do you think?

WIDDICOMBE: You know, I basically agree with that. You know, personally, I was spanked once in my life. It wasn`t our lifestyle, my family`s overindulgent. But it didn`t do me any harm, frankly. And the poor woman is under a lot of stress. I think it`s unfair to cast her as the villainess just because of this one picture of spanking a kid once.

HAMMER: I guess what it comes down to for a lot of people is they`re looking at this and saying, here`s a woman that a lot of people are trying to learn from and perhaps follow by her example. Or maybe not follow by her example, and perhaps it`s setting the wrong example. We`re going to end it there. Pat Lalama, Ben Widdicombe, thank you both for being here.

Well, I`ve got to tell you, the "Showbiz on Call" phone lines have been ringing off the hook. A lot of people have been calling in to defend this explosive criticism against reality show mom Kate Gosselin for spanking her daughter.

In fact, our SHOWBIZ operators are working so hard, if you look closely, you can actually see little beads of sweat on their foreheads. Great job, ladies. Keep it up.

We got a call into "Showbiz on Call" from Pat calling in from Nevada to "Showbiz on Call" saying you can`t give time-outs to eight rambunctious kids.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

PAT, CALLER FROM NEVADA: I`m a fan of Jon and Kate. I think she should spank them. All children need to have some kind of discipline. These eight sitting in the corner thing doesn`t always get it. Just because she was caught on TV - that`s unfortunate. As a mother, I think, yes, if a child does something wrong, a small paddling isn`t bad.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Pat, thank you for your opinion and your call. You can call us at "Showbiz on Call" and let us know what you think about this or anything else. The "Showbiz on Call" phone lines are open 24 hours a day at 1-888-SBT-BUZZ; 1-888-728-2899.

JON BON JOVI, SONGWRITER AND MUSICIAN: It`s very nice. I mean this is quite an accolade. The Songwriters` Hall of Fame is a tight-knit group of guys and it dates back well over 100 years. So it`s a very small group of people, and after 25 years, to be included in that is quite an honor.

Tonight, the power of Angelina. Angelina Jolie`s remarkable mission and why it`s now bringing tears to her eyes.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

Tonight, the amazing Angelina. Angelina Jolie is now on a passionate mission, traveling the world, saving refugees all while she and Brad Pitt juggle raising their six kids.

Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is bringing you a brand-new interview with Angelina and asking, are Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt the most powerful celebrity couple in the world?

With me in New York is Katrina Szish who is a celebrity journalist. Also in New York tonight is Dawn Yanek, editor-at-large for "Life and Style Weekly."

So it was quite a scene, Angelina Jolie just wowing Washington as the most powerful lawmakers in the world seem to be tripping all over themselves so they could be near her as she tried to bring attention to the World Refugee Day.

And you have got to hear Angelina tell CNN`s Anderson Cooper about one gripping story that just touched her so much. And I`m telling you, this is a tear-jerker. Grab a Kleenex and watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOLIE: There was a young boy I met who was about 15 who had been shot in the back and paralyzed. And his whole family had been killed and he was completely on his own. And he just had the sweetest face and the most beautiful - he was so kind and so -

But he was by himself and they were unable to give him any assistance. And yet, he had this really remarkable, unbreakable spirit, a spirit beyond anything I can imagine having - the things we complain about on a daily basis. He had lost everything and was just so full of laughter and kindness. And he passed away a few months after I was there.

And so I`ve always wondered, you know, it`s those kind of young people that you meet and you just think, god, in any other situation, if this person had been given a chance, what an extraordinary adult he would have been.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. What`s really amazing here is Angelina so rarely shows emotion publicly. Katrina, let me start with you. Why do you think this touches her so personally and deeply?

KATRINA JOURNALIST, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: I think now that she is the mother of six children herself, it`s almost impossible for her not to put herself in that position, just wanting this young teenager to be cared for and just imaging how hard it would be if any of her children happened to be in any similar situation.

And I think she`s just obviously such a compassionate person that it`s really hard for these travels and these people she meets, these refugees, not to touch her so much more deeply ...

HAMMER: Yes.

SZISH: ... because she`s getting to know them individually.

HAMMER: Yes. And you use very correctly the word "compassionate" there, which really brings to mind what`s so remarkable. Just a few years ago, Angelina, even though she was doing great work at that time - she at that time was being seen as a home-wrecker by a lot of people after she and Brad Pitt got together when he left Jennifer Aniston.

Dawn, over to you. Could you have ever imagined a few years ago, people would be calling her St. Angelina?

DAWN YANEK, EDITOR-AT-LARGE: Oh, it`s pretty amazing, the complete transformation. I think what worked so well for her is that she refused to be relegated to just one role and one aspect of her public persona.

I mean it`s been such an amazing transformation for her. I think what she did was she didn`t dwell on things. She just lived her life, did a lot of good. And in the process, she became this amazing role model for women. You know, she`s strong. She`s sexy. She`s successful. She`s a humanitarian. She has shown everybody that you can really do it all and have it all. It`s pretty amazing.

HAMMER: Yes, including a big family. Angelina, obviously, so well-known for her family - Brad Pitt and their six kids. In this brand-new interview with Anderson Cooper, you`ve got to listen to what Jolie tells him about her and Brad possibly having more kids. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

COOPER: Any plans for more kids?

JOLIE: Always.

COOPER: Always? Always plans -

JOLIE: We love children. You know how - there`s nothing happening at this moment. But we do love children and we want a big family. So we never, you know - never say no.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Angelina has been known for her charity work for such a long time. And now, everything is just at a whole new level. What do you think, Katrina? Have they become, she and Brad Pitt, the most powerful and influential celebrity couple in the world?

SZISH: I would say, yes, they have. It`s such a grand statement to make and to agree with, A.J. But they really - not only just the way they look - I mean, their actual success in Hollywood, but also just what they`re doing for the world.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation, the children from around the world they`ve adopted - just the things that they keep doing. It seems like, can they do something else great. Can do something else even better? And they keep doing it and they definitely earned that label of the most powerful couple.

HAMMER: Yes. Both of them really doing tremendous work for others as well as seemingly having a good time doing work ...

SZISH: Yes.

HAMMER: ... for themselves with this huge family. Katrina Szish, Dawn Yanek, thanks, guys. I appreciate it.

Well, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are no doubt one extraordinary and powerful family. But of course, they`ve got nothing on the Obama family. So why is President Obama saying that he`s an imperfect father? His emotional thoughts on his daughters, coming up next. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Now, it`s time for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

(CAPTION READS: New version of 1979 comedy classic "Meatballs" may be in the works. "Family Guy" soon release iPhone app featuring show clips and games.)

It is time now for "Making it Work." This is where we reveal the secrets of how stars make their relationships work.

Tonight, the lovely Michelle Pfeiffer. Michelle has been married to the amazing television producer David E. Kelly for 15 years. With two teenage kids and successful careers that are very hectic, how in the world do they make it work?

Well, when SHOWBIZ TONIGHT caught up with Michelle while she was promoting her new movie, "Cheri," she told us the secret.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MICHELLE PFEIFFER, ACTRESS: I think that he lets me be the boss. He`s really smart. He lets me think I`m the boss. No, you know, I think we`re really compatible and respect each other. And, I think that - and we trust each other. And I think those two things - I think, respect and trust are really, really key, key elements.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Michelle also tells "In Style Magazine" that she makes her love like work by having regular dates. She says, quote, "One of the reasons my marriage is successful, I think, is we`re completely comfortable around each other and don`t feel the need to hide aspects or ourselves."

You can read more of Michelle`s interview in the latest issue of "In Style" on newsstands now.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. So why is President Barack Obama saying he`s an imperfect father?

President Obama`s written a heartfelt, emotional Father`s Day message in "Parade" magazine reflecting on being a dad to two beautiful daughters, Sasha and Malia.

He writes, "I know I have been an imperfect father. I know I have made mistakes. There were many days out there on the campaign trail when I felt like my family was a million miles away and I knew I was missing moments of my daughters lives that I`d never get back. It is a loss I will never fully accept."

President Obama urges all fathers to become more engaged in their children`s lives, also saying, "We need fathers to step up to realize that their job does not end at conception, that what makes you a man is not the ability to have a child, but the courage to raise one."

Well, four-time Emmy Award-winning comedienne Roseanne Barr makes dramatic new revelations about Britney Spears. The straight-shooting comedienne told PBS host Tavis Smiley that fame taught her a lot of lessons over the years. And that`s why she says she totally gets why Britney had a terrible and infamous year when she shaved her head, she partied nonstop and dated a paparazzo.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROSEANNE BARR, COMEDIENNE: The whole Britney Spears thing like - when she was like trying to bash in that window with her bald head and the umbrella. I`m like, I`ve been there. I know exactly where that poor girl is. I know exactly that feeling.

When you`re famous, you`re just a saying. You know, you`re just a prop. Nobody cares if you are a human or anything. It`s like oh, that thing over there is like a money tree. It`s a cash cow kind of thing. It talks. Just go over there and get - help yourself to some of its money.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: What`s going on these days with Roseanne? Well, she`s working on a brand-new primetime comedy where she will play - go figure - the matriarch.

Well, on Thursday, we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Here is what we needed to know from you - Kate Gosselin Spanking Controversy: Is she being unfairly criticized. 74 percent of you said yes; 26 percent no.

And a flood of E-mails came in defending Kate`s right to spank her kids. Tasheena from California writes, "I just have to say if my child was being bad I would have done the same thing as Kate did. So people just need to leave Kate alone for being a mom."

And Deborah, also from California, writing, "I think that there is nothing wrong with spanking. There is a big difference between spanking and abuse."

We thank you for your E-mails and we thank you for watching.

That is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. And you can always catch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on the 11:00s - yes we keep it simple. We`re on at 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, and weekday mornings at 11:00 a.m. Eastern on HLN.
