TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

(MUSIC)

Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City. And tonight, a blockbuster SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive, the other Kate. Tonight for the first time since Jon Gosselin`s explosive ABC News tell-all, the so-called other Kate reveals all including her response to Jon dissing her on that ABC News special.

The other Kate is Kate Major, the former tabloid reporter who claims that Jon romanced her, who says that she quit her job over him and who says she got dumped by Jon and left out to the cold.

Tonight, her lie detector challenge to Jon, what she would say to Kate Gosselin and her other headline-making revelations as SHOWBIZ TONIGHT breaks big news tonight.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over): If Jon Gosselin thinks he is having trouble with this Kate, wait until he gets a load of this Kate.

MAJOR: He`s made his bed so he has to sleep in it and unfortunately, it was with me.

HAMMER: Kate Major, the former tabloid reporter, who has been burning up the tabloids with claims that she and Jon torrid romance, is finally telling all in an exclusive interview with me here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(on camera): Did you love him?

MAJOR: No. No. I think I was in lust with him.

HAMMER (voice-over): Kate Major tells me how she first met the famous father of eight.

MAJOR: Well, I think he was interested in me. I ended up really liking him.

HAMMER: She details what she says are Jon`s lies and broken promises.

MAJOR: For him to say that there was no romance is a complete lie.

HAMMER: And she spills the beans on what she says was her and Jon`s hot romance.

MAJOR: He called me the new Kate and referred to Kate Gosselin as his ex- Kate or the old Kate.

HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you, the new adventures of new Kate. Kate Major tells me she and Jon met when she was a reporter for "Star Magazine."

JON GOSSELIN, REALITY TV STAR, "JON & KATE PLUS 8": Kate and I have decided to separate.

HAMMER: Major was assigned to do a story on the shocking announcement that Jon and Kate were divorcing. But she tells me landing an interview with Gosselin wasn`t hard because Jon sought her out after seeing a photo of her.

MAJOR: There was no flirtation, but I was thinking, "This is awesome," you know, because Jon never had really been talking to media. And also, at that point, I just kind of wanted to see what he was all about.

HAMMER: After that interview, Major tells me Jon asked her out to dinner.

(on camera): Did you feel sparks? You said there was no flirtation, but did he hit on you at all? I mean, what exactly did you feel?

MAJOR: Not at first. But then, at the dinner, we kind started texting back and forth, like, at the table. We held hands and kissed in the car and this was all -

HAMMER: This was on the first night?

MAJOR: Yes.

HAMMER: You kissed on the first night?

MAJOR: Unfortunately, yes.

HAMMER (voice-over): The two became a paparazzi target. And a week after that first date, Kate Major quit "Star Magazine," citing a conflict of interest because of her relationship with Gosselin.

MAJOR: I really didn`t want to do that. I loved my job. I really did.

HAMMER: Major tells me the whole thing was Jon`s idea because he wanted to give her a job.

(on camera): It was Jon`s idea for you to actually quit?

MAJOR: Yes. He told me that I was supposed to be his assistant. I felt that it was the right thing to do, to resign from my job.

HAMMER (voice-over): And Kate Major tells me things were turning serious between her and Jon.

MAJOR: Jon told me that he was falling for me. I fell for him. I completely believed everything that he said.

HAMMER: Jon Gosselin has a different take. He denied any relationship with Kate Major in a recent interview ABC`s Chris Cuomo that I showed to Kate.

CHRIS CUOMO, ABC CORRESPONDENT: So Kate Major was a romantic fling, but it was not a girlfriend?

J. GOSSELIN: No romantic fling.

CUOMO: No romance at all?

J. GOSSELIN: Nothing. I just thought -

CUOMO: She tells stories.

J. GOSSELIN: She tells stories.

HAMMER (on camera): What are goes through your head when you hear that? It`s got to make you pretty angry.

MAJOR: Of course it makes me angry. You know, it`s a shame that he`s a liar. It`s hard to accept the fact that the person who I thought he was clearly is not. And I think he is showing his true colors.

HAMMER (voice-over): And coincidence or perhaps not, the same word Jon used to describe his feelings for old Kate -

J. GOSSELIN: Some right now that I despise.

HAMMER: Is the same word new Kate is using to describe her feelings about Jon.

(on camera): Do you hate him now?

MAJOR: I despise him.

HAMMER (voice-over): She tells me she just wants to set record straight.

MAJOR: If Jon would just have admitted it, then the story would have been over. And I wouldn`t feel like I have to somewhat try to redeem myself and tell the truth.

HAMMER: But it looks like Jon and new Kate have a very different view of what the truth is.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

Well, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT reached out today to Jon Gosselin and his attorney for responses to what Kate Major told us. But as of show time, we have not heard back from them. But trust me, what you just heard from Kate Major - it is just the beginning.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(on camera): You did share some pretty intimate details about your relationship with Jon while you were still together. Among the things you shared claims that the two of you were fooling around when his eight kids were sleeping nearby.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

A little later, we`re going to hear what Kate has to say about that alleged rendezvous. That and more of my interview with Kate Major, coming up on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

And if we`re talking Kate here, we`ve got to talk about the main character in all of this, Kate Gosselin. Have you seen Kate Gosselin co- hosting on "The View" this week? Yes, she`s doing all right.

But there was big talk today that Kate might actually get her own talk show. And get this, we also learned today that Kate is going to be back on "The View" Friday and interviewing comedienne Kathy Griffin. Yes, the same Kathy who just spoofed the heck out of Kate. Well, I`ve got the inside story from Kathy Griffin herself just today.

And Kate`s got a new do for "The View." What do you think? Was it about time or do you kind of miss that special unique look she sported for so long?

Joining me tonight from Hollywood is Carlos Diaz who is a correspondent for "Extra." And Rachel Zalis who is a contributing editor for "Life and Style."

So the big news is today, guys, all about Kate possibly getting her own talk show. As I said, I thought she was OK on "The View." But now, there are these reports floating around the wheels are in motion to give Kate Gosselin her own show, possibly with celebrity chef Paula Dean.

Carlos, this is a woman not loved by so many people anymore. Do you think Kate could actually pull it off?

CARLOS DIAZ, CORRESPONDENT, "EXTRA": Well, from what I understand, you have to be a control freak to have your own talk show. So I don`t know if she is qualified, if that`s - wait a minute. Maybe she might be (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

(CROSS TALK)

But here`s the thing. I`ve always said that, you know, it`s great for Kate to be on TV. I`ve defended for being on TV because she has to provide for the kids, and all she`s doing is being a mother.

But now, Kate, you`re talking about going away from your kids and it does take a level of commitment to do a talk show, and now, syndicated talk show. It is going to take you away from your kids. I`m not really in favor of it. You know what I`m saying?

HAMMER: So you`re thinking they`re not going to do it on a lot in Pennsylvania somewhere, I guess.

DIAZ: I don`t think it`s going to work. There aren`t any sound stages in Pennsylvania at all. So, no. That wouldn`t work.

HAMMER: Rachel, let me get your take on this. Could Kate perhaps be too cranky for a talk show? Or could that work in her favor?

RACHEL ZALIS, CONTRIBUTING EDITOR, "LIFE AND STYLE": First of all, I don`t think the ladies of "The View" realized they were creating their competition in the last couple of days. This is going to be a big deal. It`s Telepictures. They do "Ellen." They do "Tyra."

And you`re right, Carlos. She is an absolute control freak. And with Jon, it`s easy to boss him around. But when you`re talking about co-hosts like Paula Dean - I mean, Paula is not a push over.

HAMMER: And none of this has a lock, though, I should point out. Telepictures did tell SHOWBIZ TONIGHT earlier today that, yes, they are dealing with her right now and looking at possibilities. But nothing has a lock on this.

ZALIS: Yes. I think it will be interesting to see, you know, without the kids, without Jon, how she will fare on her own show.

HAMMER: You know, I would love, as Carlos acknowledged, to see her make money some other way. And the other big talk today - go ahead.

DIAZ: I do want to say that Telepictures is one heck of a company.

HAMMER: Yes. And you well should say that as they sign your check there at "Extra."

DIAZ: Yes, exactly. There we go.

HAMMER: Other big talk today, Kate Gosselin is going to be interviewing comedienne Kathy Griffin on "The View" that airs on Friday. I, for one, can`t wait to see how it turns out, particularly given that Kathy has been doing great spoofs of Kate lately. You`ve got to watch this hilarious spot that she did on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." This is great.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KATHY GRIFFIN, COMEDIENNE (as Kate Gosselin): I told you monsters to cram a polypocket in those pie holes. Mommy`s doing a satellite feed with Regis.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE CHILD: But Mom, we`re thirsty.

GRIFFIN: Wa, wa, wa. Here, drink the tears of fame.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. Carlos, would you love to see when Kate interview Kathy?

DIAZ: I`ll tell you what I don`t want to see. Kate, don`t try to out- Kathy Kathy, all right? Kathy is - I`m a big fan. I`ve actually gone to cookouts with Kathy before. She`s on 24/7. She is a pit bull from sun up to sundown and everything in between.

If Kate tries to take on Kathy Griffin - you are way out of your league, Kate. You know what? Just try to be nice, be self-deprecating. Let Kathy be Kathy and let Kathy take over everything in interview because that`s what`s going to happen.

HAMMER: Well, here`s the deal. The interview actually was taped today. So I got the inside story from Kathy herself this afternoon when she stopped by SHOWBIZ TONIGHT after the interview with Kate Gosselin. So of course, I had to ask her, was Kate all ticked off at the spoof for instance? Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GRIFFIN: That little short film is actually very pro-Kate. And I didn`t have any qualms about meeting her because, you know, first of all, obviously, the husband is sort of - is thrown under the bus more than she is.

HAMMER: Had she seen that skit?

GRIFFIN: Oh, yes. She said she saw it and she laughed.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Rachel, are you at all surprised, first of all, that Kate was cool with Kathy`s spoof. And second of all, Kathy went on to tell me that they actually did get along and there were no hard feelings for all of, well, the spoofing she has done.

ZALIS: You know, I`m not surprised. I mean, in this town, it`s the highest form of flattery to be spoofed. Look at "FunnyOrDie.com." Every celebrity is doing it. And you know, I think Kate recognizes that you have to have a sense of humor in this town if you are going to get anywhere.

And you know, Kathy is a comedienne. That`s what she does. She doesn`t dislike people in real life. That`s just what she does - to have fun. So I`m not at all surprised.

HAMMER: What about you, Carlos? Are you surprised Kate wasn`t a little standoffish with Kathy given that, you know, Kathy has really gone after Kate in her act and on TV?

DIAZ: That`s a great point. But I think everything that Kate wants right now is to be loved by the media and loved the public.

HAMMER: Yes.

DIAZ: And so she`s really taking to the nth degree as far as not wanting to be confrontational with anybody. And a good thing - as I`ve said, Kathy will rip you apart.

HAMMER: Yes, she will. And you have to keep up with her which is very difficult to do.

DIAZ: Yes.

HAMMER: Did you guys happen to see Kate`s new hairdo on "The View." I mean, look at that - really quite a change for Kate. Do you like it? Should she keep it? Is it too bouffant? Is it too soft, or is it just right? We are talking Kate`s hair.

So Carlos and Rachel, please don`t go anywhere. And it`s not just Kate`s hair that`s making big news tonight. We have now just heard from Bobby Brown about Whitney. Tonight, Bobby Brown strikes back for the first time since Whitney Houston`s explosive drug confessions to Oprah. We`re now hearing from her ex-husband, Bobby, on their drug use.

Also tonight, why won`t people accept Kanye West`s apology to Taylor Swift? You know, even President Obama - yes, the president - is calling this guy a jackass.

And right now, dramatic, new developments in the search for Jessica Simpson`s missing dog. It was taken by coyotes right in front of her. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: "The Jay Leno Show" tops Tuesday night ratings, but down from 34 percent from Monday`s premiere. Jay-Z number one on Billboard 200 album chart with "The Blueprint 3," Beatles reissues, number two.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

OPRAH WINFREY, HOST, "THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW": Did Bobby know you were doing that interview?

WHITNEY HOUSTON, SINGER: No.

WINFREY: Does he know now?

HOUSTON: No.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tonight, for the very first time, we are hearing Whitney Houston`s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, speaking out about the marriage, the day after Whitney`s tell-all, dramatic interview on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

And tonight, it is Whitney versus Bobby. Whitney Houston made her explosive claims this week on "Oprah." And now, Bobby Brown gets his turn to speak out. So what does he think about Whitney going on "Oprah" and telling all about their wild 14 years of an often drug-fuelled marriage?

And what do you think of Kate Gosselin`s new hairdo, huh? Is it head- over-heels better than her old style or do you want the old Kate hairdo back?

Joining me again tonight in Hollywood is Carlos Diaz who is a correspondent for "Extra." Also tonight in Hollywood, Rachel Zalis who is a contributing editor from "Life and Style" magazine.

Let`s start with Bobby versus Whitney. Whitney told Oprah how she and Bobby abused drugs, how he was emotionally abusive and a whole bunch more. And today, we`ve got Bobby Brown`s reaction. You`ve got to check out what he told "The Insider" about Whitney`s interview with Oprah.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BOBBY BROWN, WHITNEY HOUSTON`S EX-HUSBAND: There is something that she, you know, says that is, you know, untrue or disrespectful, then I will deal with that with her.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Hey, Carlos, I think one of the most interesting parts of all of this is that Bobby doesn`t deny anything that Whitney told Oprah. Doesn`t that speak volumes to you?

DIAZ: I`m very surprised. This is the same Bobby Brown that outside of a courthouse one time - and this is a true story - when asked about being up on marijuana charges, he said, well, it wasn`t that much pot.

So I mean, this guy is used to being - well, he tells all when he`s asked to tell all. But maybe it was a time constraint thing. Maybe there were so many allegations that Whitney levied he couldn`t address all of them at one time. But why do the interview if you are not going to defend yourself?

HAMMER: Yes. And Whitney really not concerned at all about Bobby possibly going after her. She told Oprah that she hasn`t heard from Bobby Brown, but she is ready to deal with him head on. You`ve got to see this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WINFREY: Did Bobby know you were doing that interview?

HOUSTON: No.

WINFREY: Does he know now?

HOUSTON: No. But I`m sure I will be getting a call.

WINFREY: Are you worried about that call?

HOUSTON: Bring it.

WINFREY: Bring it.

HOUSTON: Bring it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: You know, Rachel. I`m watching that and I`m thinking, it`s almost like Whitney wants a confrontation, "Go ahead, Bobby. Try me."

ZALIS: Yes, absolutely. I mean, listen, Whitney`s been doing a lot of Bobby-bashing in the last couple of days. And I`m actually glad that Bobby is kind of keeping it classy, not fighting back.

I mean, this guy could make up all sorts of stuff. Clearly, there was a lot of like, drug binges and stuff going on between them. And she even talks about, you know, freebasing coke and all that.

But you know, I think this is Whitney`s moment. And I think he kind of is realizing he`s got to let her have her moment.

HAMMER: Yes. And if she is telling the truth, what is he going to do? All right. We have to move on, because I have something very important to deal with right now. It is time to move on for the final judgment. Kate Gosselin`s new hairdo - look at that.

While she was co-hosting "The View" this week, she had this new do. The question is, do you love it or hate it? Carlos Diaz, you are an expert in the field. What do you think?

DIAZ: I`m sorry. My earpiece is failing. It sounds like you want to give my journalistic opinion on Kate`s new hairdo.

HAMMER: I insist you do.

DIAZ: Hold on. Let me summon my inner Ken Paves here. Hold on. I like it, actually. I do - I like it. It`s softer. It makes her look more, you know, approachable and not as hard with the swooping and the right angles and the whole thing. I think it`s a very - I think it`s a nice new Kate.

HAMMER: Very quickly - Rachel Zalis?

ZALIS: Love it. Wowed by the waves. But you know, who doesn`t like it are the Halloween stores. The reverse mullet was supposed to be their biggest seller this year. What are they going to do, restyle all the wigs?

(CROSS TALK)

HAMMER: What are you going to do? Rachel Zalis, Carlos Diaz, thanks, guys. I appreciate it.

All right. So Kate has been guest-hosting on "The View" and there`s talk that it`s all a warm-up for her own talk show. What do you think about something like that?

Here`s our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day - "Kate Co-hosts `The View`: Would you watch a Kate Gosselin talk show?" Vote at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight or E-mail us more of your thoughts at showbiztonight@cnn.com.

So tonight, I am speaking with the other Kate. I`m talking Kate Major. This is a blockbuster SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

(on camera): You did share some pretty intimate details about your relationship with Jon while you were still together. Among the things you shared claims that the two of you were fooling around when his eight kids were sleeping nearby.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

I go on with the former tabloid reporter who claims she was that Jon Gosselin`s other woman. Did she really have sex with Jon with his kids right there? Also, Kate Major`s challenge. Why she wants Jon to take a lie detector test.

Also, big breaking news, why aren`t people accepting Kanye West`s apology for his Taylor Swift diss? I`ll tell you our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT viewers are not buying it. Neither is President Obama, calling Kanye a jackass.

And it looks ridiculous on you and now, you can make your pet look silly too - the Snuggie for dogs. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: Michelle Obama, Kate Winslet, Taylor Swift, among "People" magazine`s best dressed of 2009. Burt Reynolds checks into rehab to deal with drug and alcohol problems.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Well, New York fashion week is about to wrap up. And look at that. I can tell you, this is one of the hottest looks for spring 2010. It`s the Snuggie. Did you see this? They did a Snuggie fashion show, really.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer. You know, when I heard that we were going to be doing this story, I kind of took it as a nod that it would be OK to put my Snuggie. It`s cold in the studio today, right? It really makes perfect sense.

I know this is probably going to wind up on "Jimmy Kimmel." But you know what? I wear my Snuggie proudly. Anyway, back to the Snuggie fashion show. Don`t worry about your pets getting jealous over your new Snuggie because there are new Snuggies for doggies, as you see.

So now, you and your pooch can stay warm and look absolutely ridiculous together. Hey, too bad the Snuggie wasn`t around when Seinfeld was on the air. Can you totally not see them doing that show about this?

I can`t believe that it`s now been 11 years since one of my favorite shows went away. But I`m totally psyched that the entire cast is kind of reuniting to do an episode of HBO`s "Curb Your Enthusiasm" playing themselves, playing Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer.

Well, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT caught up with "Curb`s" star and creator Larry David who also co-created Seinfeld. He told us it was a snap working with Jerry again.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LARRY DAVID, CO-CREATOR OF "SEINFELD": We actually wrote together on the episode. And no, it was great. We got back into it without missing a beat.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Well, the Seinfeld episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" airs this Sunday on HBO. And I will be watching.

I can also tell you that our "Showbiz on Call" operators can`t curb their enthusiasm about all the calls we are getting about Kate Gosselin co- hosting "The View." And the calls are not just about Kate`s new do. Check out this call from Krystal in Virginia.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

KRYSTAL, CALLER FROM VIRGINIA: I don`t really think that they gave Jon a really fair shot in all of this. Yes, he`s been the one, but if they watched the show, she was not whatsoever someone easy to live with.

He was there, the biggest part of the family with the kids, including when she was gone on the book tours. She`s on "The View." Who had the kids? He`s got to have the kids while she`s there. She`s not a full-time single time. He also helps. And I think they need to give him a break.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Krystal, we appreciate you calling. And I`d love for you to call us at "Showbiz on Call" at 1-888-SBT-BUZZ; 1-888-728-2899.

Now the SHOWBIZ lineup. Tonight, my explosive SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive with the other Kate.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAJOR: I will take a lie detector test. And I would love for Jon to take a lie detector test, because for him to say that there was no romance is a complete lie.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Kate Major insists she had a romantic relationship with Jon Gosselin. And tonight, she is calling him a liar. Wow.

Also, big breaking news - Kanye West apologizes. But people are saying, "Who cares?" Why people everywhere aren`t accepting his, "I`m sorry," for his Taylor Swift diss. And just this morning on "The View," La Toya Jackson lashes out with brand-new, shocking claims about her brother`s death. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: "Spiderman 4" to be released on both regular and Imax screens on May 5, 2011. "Star Trek`s" George Takei and partner to be first gay couple on "The Newlywed Game."

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER (voice-over): You did share some pretty intimate details about your relationship with Jon while you were still together. Among the things you shared - claims that the two of you were fooling around when his eight kids were sleeping nearby.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Now, on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive, Jon`s other Kate. Tonight, I am one on one with the woman who claims she had a romantic relationship with Jon Gosselin. Why Kate Major wants Jon to take a lie detector test. And did she really sleep with Jon at his home while his eight kids were there? It`s the explosive, exclusive interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

No forgiveness for Kanye. Tonight, after all of Kanye West`s apologies, why so many people are refusing to forgive him.

And brand-new dramatic developments in the search for Jessica Simpson`s dog who was snatched by a coyote.

Plus, more stories breaking from the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker."

TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.

(MUSIC)

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

Tonight, not forgiving Kanye. Kanye West has apologized over and over now to Taylor Swift for his big VMA diss of her. But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can now reveal why so many people are just not buying it. It was the diss heard around the world after Kanye rudely interrupted 19-year-old Taylor during her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KANYE WEST, SINGER: Now, Taylor, I`m really happy for you. I`m going to let you finish. But Beyonce has one of the best videos of all time.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Kanye launches into an all-out mea culpa tour, including his stop on "Jay Leno Show" to say he is sorry. He calls Taylor directly to apologize and she accepts. So why were so many people saying today, "Apology not accepted, Kanye."

Big news breaking tonight. La Toya Jackson co-hosted "The View" today. You have got to hear what she said this morning about her previous claims that Michael was murdered.

Joining me tonight in New York is Midwin Charles who is an attorney from Midwin Charles and Associates. From Hollywood is Hyla who is an entertainment journalist.

Let`s begin with the Kanye apology. There is brand-new SHOWBIZ TONIGHT poll just out tonight. It`s a real eye-opener to me. We asked on air and online, "Kanye`s `Leno` Apology: Should he be forgiven for dissing Taylor?" And we got a huge response.

Look at these results - a whopping 75 percent said no. Only 25 percent said yes, he should be forgiven. Midwin, why is it that you think so many people are having such a hard time forgiving Kanye West?

MIDWIN CHARLES, ATTORNEY, MIDWIN CHARLES AND ASSOCIATES: Well, I think that`s because Kanye has shown a pattern and practice of these ridiculous outbursts that go back for years. And so people are just tired of him.

And secondly, Taylor Swift is a young girl. She has finally clinched and achieved a dream that so few artists can do which is win one of these awards. And he busted her moment and he rained on her parade. And people are just not feeling that.

HAMMER: Yes. When you are that big a jerk, sometimes, people can`t get past it. But the ladies at "The View" today did seem to be content with the fact that Kanye called Taylor after she appeared on their show and he said he was sorry. Watch what happened here.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": We want to let everybody know that after the show here on "The View," Kanye did get in touch. He apologized and Taylor Swift, the class act that she is, accepted it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Hyla, let me ask you. If Taylor Swift can accept it, why do you think that so many others can`t?

HYLA, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: I don`t understand this. I mean, I want to borrow some words from one of your good friends of YouTube fame, Chris Crocker, "Leave Kanye alone."

Four apologies, almost crying on television - Taylor says it`s OK, but we can`t get over it. Folks, it`s a VMA. This isn`t a Grammy. Everybody just settle down and relax. Let`s move on already.

HAMMER: Yes. It`s part of the deal, though. I was thinking about this the other day. You know, this is the kind of guy I certainly wouldn`t want to hang out with, let alone spend money on.

So I think there is just a lot of resentment that`s going to linger for a while. We have even Dr. Phil now weighing on this. He gave a brand- new interview to CNN`s Larry King. And Dr. Phil told Larry that what Kanye did to Taylor was essentially the same thing as bullying. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DR. PHIL MCGRAW, PSYCHIATRIST: Frankly, you just boil it down to just simply being a bully. I can guarantee you I can name you 10 or 15 people that he wouldn`t have gone up there and taken that mike away from. But he did it with a 17-year-old girl because he could. And I mean, to take it upon himself to be that insensitive to her, I thought was just terrible.

LARRY KING, HOST, "LARRY KING LIVE": For what gain?

MCGRAW: Well, you know, I think it`s just kind of a part of a narcissistic personality pattern, you know. You`ve always got to be the center of attention.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. So he calls him a bully, even suggests that Kanye is a narcissist which a lot of people have been doing. Midwin, we know bullies have a bad reputation that tends to stick with them for a long time. And I really do think Kanye is going to have the same problem shaking this after what he did to Taylor.

CHARLES: I think he is. And I think one of the things he has always demonstrated is that he believes that he`s above reproach and that he can do these things and continue to do them. I mean, I believe this is the 4th or 5th outburst that we`ve gotten from Kanye. So who knows who`s going to be the next victim?

HAMMER: Well, the "Showbiz on Call" phone lines have just been flooded with calls about Kanye`s diss really nonstop since Sunday night. Georgia from Wyoming says that she doesn`t buy Kanye`s apology. Listen to Georgia.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

GEORGIA, CALLER FROM WYOMING: Just because you`re rich doesn`t give you the right to treat people like the way he treated Taylor Swift. Why does someone have to make a spectacle about themselves in public to say, "I need help. I am working way too hard"? Just because you are working hard doesn`t give you the right to lose your manners. And I just think there is absolutely no excuse for that.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. And Kanye has even suggested that the loss of his mother and his workload were to blame for his bad behavior as if that`s any justification, particularly given the pattern he has shown in the past.

But even the president of the United States, Barack Obama, overheard calling Kanye a, quote, "jackass." Hyla, let`s take that into effect. I mean, the fact that this has even ticked off our president. Isn`t that kind of symbolic of why perhaps so many people are having a hard time getting past this?

HYLA: The backlash is 10 times bigger than anything that he did to Taylor Swift. The president called Kanye a jackass? He hasn`t even called Osama Bin Laden a jackass. I mean, how much more jackass - I mean, backlash do we need to give Kanye West?

HAMMER: There you go - jackass backlash. That was well said. But the truth is we overheard - he was overheard saying that. Who knows what he has said privately about, you know, Osama Bin Laden.

Now, big on air apology came Monday night on "The Jay Leno Show." But last night, Jay was right back doing his own thing, poking fun at Kanye.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAY LENO, HOST, "THE JAY LENO SHOW": I had a horrible nightmare last night. I dreamed I was at the Country Music Awards. I was sitting right next to Kanye West. Oh, it was so horrible.

I tell you, this Kanye West-Taylor Swift thing will not go away. Virtually all the celebrities - the celebrities are all coming down really hard on Kanye, except for Chris Brown who said, "Thank you!"

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. Midwin, it seems to me that Kanye is turning into a big joke now because, you know, it`s not just Jay who`s going to be having at it.

CHARLES: Well, what else can he do, right? I mean, the entire country, the entire world is really not feeling him right now. So what else is he left with but to turn this into a joke?

HAMMER: Yes.

CHARLES: I mean, that`s the only way that you can kind of move on and then hope for the next celebrity mess up. And then, you know, the entire attention will shift away from you. That`s what Kanye needs to be praying for right now.

HAMMER: Well, I`ll tell you what. Let us move on to La Toya Jackson and her appearance today on "The View." She co-hosted the show. La Toya has said before and recently that she thinks Michael was murdered. Well, Joy Behar asked La Toya about what she claimed, and this is what she said. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Do you think it was deliberate?

LA TOYA JACKSON, MICHAEL JACKSON`S SISTER: I don`t know. I really don`t know.

BEHAR: When you say "murdered," it sounds like it`s deliberate.

L. JACKSON: No. I put it this way. With any doctor, they know what they are doing. They know when enough is enough. They know when too much is too much.

BEHAR: Yes.

L. JACKSON: And you know, they are licensed for this, Joy. So they should know what they are doing.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. Kind of interesting to note now that she is not using the word "murder." Police have branded Michael`s death a homicide. Hyla, do you think that La Toya insisting all along that something was shady from the very beginning perhaps did help push the investigation forward?

HYLA: I think La Toya wants publicity. That`s all she wants. If she is really concerned about her brother and finding out what exactly happened, why would she do this to an ongoing police investigation?

This doesn`t help him at all. She wants publicity. That`s why she was on the E Network yesterday hawking milkshakes. She doesn`t care about her brother.

HAMMER: Fair enough. Midwin Charles, Hyla, thanks, guys, I appreciate it.

So tonight, I`m going one on one and this is this an exclusive with Jon Gosselin`s other Kate. Is she still in love with Jon? Why is she calling him a liar?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAJOR: I will take a lie detector test and I would love for Jon to take a lie detector test. Because for him to say that there was no romance is a complete lie.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tonight, my one-on-one SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive with Jon`s other Kate. What she thought after Jon dissed her on national TV. And did she and Jon really sleep together in his house while his eight kids were at home? This is the headline-making exclusive interview you`ll see this only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

And brand-new dramatic developments today in the search for Jessica Simpson`s dog, snatched by a coyote in front of her very eyes. Jessica`s drastic move to find Daisy, and I`ve got the very latest.

And the first "Dancing with the Stars" casualty. I`m going to tell you which star might not be dancing anymore. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: Chris Brown begins community labor service in Virginia. "Dancing with the Stars" to pay tribute to Patrick Swayze on September 23.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

And tonight, it is a blockbuster SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive, the other Kate. Kate Major a.k.a. Kate 2.0, the one who quit her job as a reporter of "Star" magazine after getting assigned to cover Jon Gosselin and then falling for him.

But now, she calls him a big fat liar. Kate holds nothing back in my explosive brand-new interview. She even challenges Jon to take a lie detector test to come clean about their whirlwind romance. This is the other Kate`s very first interview since Jon dissed her big time in a primetime ABC News special that had Jon telling all.

So just how did she go from reporting on Jon and Kate`s split to being the other woman?

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

MAJOR: I went to Jon`s house in Pennsylvania for a "Star Magazine." And as most people know we met because his bodyguard, Mike, who was working there, showed him a picture of me. And Jon got in his car, his BMW, and drove to the end of the driveway.

And then, we went to this boat basin which is near his house and just talked. There was no flirtation, but I was thinking, "This is awesome," you know, because Jon never had really been talking to the media at all. So at that point, I just kind of wanted to see what he was all about.

HAMMER (voice-over): Was it the kind of deal when you walked into the room or when you first met him? Did you feel sparks? You said there was no flirtation, but did he hit on you at all? I mean, what exactly did you feel?

MAJOR: Not at first. But then, at the dinner, we all kind of started texting back and forth, like at the table. And then other people had joined us. He asked me to go outside with him to smoke cigarettes.

There were fans everywhere. He started (UNINTELLIGIBLE) in trying to hide me. So I just thought it was a little bit fast, how he invited me to dinner, invited me to this party. And then, we held hands and kissed in the car. And this was all -

HAMMER: That was on the first night?

MAJOR: Yes.

HAMMER: You kissed on the first night?

MAJOR: Unfortunately, yes.

HAMMER: You did share some pretty intimate details about your relationship with Jon while you were still together. Among the things you shared claims that the two of you were fooling around when his eight kids were sleeping nearby. Do you regret that?

MAJOR: That didn`t happen. I`m not sure how that all came about.

HAMMER: Clarify that to me -

MAJOR: I want to clarify that, OK?

HAMMER: Please do.

MAJOR: I have never been in Jon and Kate`s house ever. I would never go there especially with the kids home, ever. That to me - I`m not that girl. What I did say was that Jon had asked me if I could maybe go there when the kids were asleep.

He did ask me and I said, "Well, where would I park?" Because you know, you can`t - there is a gate. And he said I could park at his neighbor`s house and he could get his four-wheeler and pick me up.

And you know, I just thought that that was very strange. And I`m like no, I definitely - I`m smart enough to know that that is just wrong to do. So he had propositioned, but that never happened, ever.

HAMMER: In less than a week after that first date, you quit your job and this is what appeared on the "Star" Web site. It said, "`Star" senior reporter Kate Major resigned this morning, Thursday, July 23rd, citing a conflict of interest between her reporting duties for the magazine and her relationship with Jon Gosselin."

Tell me how that went down. Did you walk into your boss` office and say, "Hey, you know what? I think I might be in love or really into Jon. I can`t work here anymore?"

MAJOR: So I don`t really want to go into details about, you know, how my boss called or anything like that. But I felt that it was the right thing to do to resign from my job. Because, you know, I even said, "Can I have 10 minutes because I wanted to make sure." And it was just Jon in the house that told me that I should quit my job.

HAMMER: So it was Jon`s idea for you to actually quit?

MAJOR: Yes. He told me that I was supposed to be his assistant. We even discussed this after I found that he went back to Hailey. I was still supposed to work for him. And I never - I mean, he even asked me what I made and we talked about it.

HAMMER: And then came Jon`s side of the story. We started hearing from him about this. He gave an interview shortly after you resigned from "Star" to "E." And I want to read what he said to "E!" about you. He said, "I care about Kate Major. She resigned from her job for me. Right now, my focus is on my relationship with my kids. My personal relationship is private."

Now, this is around the time the two of you were also seen out in the Hamptons, having a great time. Seems like there was something was going on potentially. What was it specifically that Jon said to you?

MAJOR: Jon told me that he was falling for me. He called me the new Kate and referred to Kate Gosselin as his ex-Kate or the old Kate. And he was just - I fell for him. I completely believed everything that he said.

I was reluctant to get very romantically involved. I really didn`t know what to do at that point because it had blown up into such a media frenzy. And I felt like every day, something negative was coming out and it was just - it was hard.

But he had promised me that, you know, it would be OK. Things will work out. And yes, I mean, just listening to myself speak about this, I sound very dumb to do it. But the thing that I really want to clear up is that the worst thing you can do is lie.

And I will take a lie detector test and I would love for Jon to take a lie detector test because for him to say there was no romance is a complete lie.

HAMMER: OK. Jon recently gave a very revealing interview that I`m certain you saw to ABC`s Chris Cuomo. And I want to watch what he told Chris about your relationship.

MAJOR: OK.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CUOMO: So Kate Major was a romantic fling, but it was not a girlfriend.

MAJOR: No romantic fling.

CUOMO: No romance at all?

J. GOSSELIN: Nothing. I just thought -

CUOMO: She tells stories.

J. GOSSELIN: She tells stories.

HAMMER: All right. You heard that. He said, "She tells stories. There was no romance." What goes through your head when you hear that? It`s got to make you pretty angry.

MAJOR: I honestly - of course it makes me angry, because before, he was not really saying anything. He was beating around the bush. And yes, I left because I can tell he is lying with his body language and how he got very nervous. And you know, it`s a shame that he`s a liar.

HAMMER: Did you love him?

MAJOR: No, no. I think I was in lust with him. But no, I did not love him.

HAMMER: Do you hate him now?

MAJOR: I despise him.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Well, as for Kate`s future, she says that she doesn`t have a Jon- and-Kate tell all up her sleeve. But she is considering several lucrative job offers. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT did reach out today to Jon Gosselin and his attorneys to respond to what Kate Major told me. But as of show time, we have not heard back from them.

Tonight, Tom DeLay injured on "Dancing with the Stars." The former House majority leader injured his foot while he was rehearsing for the show. But is he down and out for good?

Well, DeLay revealed all on his Twitter page, tweeting, quote, "Old age is catching up to me. May have a stress fracture in my foot. No worries, it`ll take more than that to keep me off the dance floor." Then he wrote, "No stress fracture! It is a pre-stress fracture. I live for another day." That looks like he will be ready to make his debut on the ABC show coming up this Monday.

Well, Jessica Simpson was understandably, absolutely horrified when she saw her little dog, Daisy, snatched by a coyote. I mean, who could blame her? That has got be so traumatic.

Tonight, brand-new developments in the search for her Malti-poo dog. And I`ve got to tell you, today, even the ladies of "The View" - they are getting involved. I will have the details. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

It is time now for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker." These are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: Jessica Biel in final talks to star in the movie version of "The A- Team." Moviefone names Robert Pattinson and Megan Fox the hottest actors under 25.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

And tonight, we have brand-new developments in the search for Jessica Simpson`s dog to tell you about. Jessica has hired a dog-finding service after her Malti-poo Daisy was snatched by a Coyote right before her very eyes

Now, according to TMZ, Jessica is working with "FindToto.com." It`s actually a pretty cool organization. They`re going to 1,000 of her neighbors about her missing four-legged friend. But Jessica reportedly knows the odds are against her but she is hopeful.

Now, before hiring the service, Jessica distributed this missing dog sign. And this morning on "The View," Whoopi tried to help Jessica get the word out, but thinks her chances of getting little Daisy back, not so great.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GOLDBERG: Her beloved Malti-poo, Daisy, was taken by a coyote.

BEHAR: It`s a sad story.

GOLDBERG: It`s sad. And she wants people to help her get her dog back. Now, I`m not sure whether Jessica realizes with coyotes, they don`t generally read these fliers.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Funny as it is, Jessica, obviously, is still praying for her dog`s safe return. I certainly hope we`re going to have some good news to bring to you very soon.

Did you see this Tom Cruise and Camera Diaz on "The Jay Leno Show" playing a game of 20 questions? Only it was 10 questions - a little segment Jay called, "10 at 10." Tom and Cameron asked about some TV shows, songs and other fun stuff. But one question had Tom blushing.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LENO: I knew you are a pilot. What are you better at, flying or sex?

(LAUGHTER)

CAMERON DIAZ, ACTRESS: This is an awkward question.

TOM CRUISE, ACTOR: You know what? I don`t know. I try to excel in all areas. And I have never been asked for a refund. So you know, I don`t know.

LENO: You don`t know?

CAMERON DIAZ: Having sex with Tom - didn`t you say it is -

CRUISE: It is like flying.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tom at a loss for words. By the way, Tom and Cameron are shooting their new movie called "Wichita." It`s going to be in theaters next year.

So on Tuesday, we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day - "Kanye`s `Leno` Apology: Should he be forgiven for dissing Taylor?" Twenty-five percent said yes; 75 percent said no.

Among the E-mails, Donna in Oregon writing, "Talk about narcissism. Kanye needs to earn forgiveness through future good behavior, not simply because he apologized."

Carol in Michigan is saying, "If Taylor can forgive, then so can I. He knows he hurt Taylor and apologized for it, so let it go."
