PHILLIPS: It became a consensual relationship over time.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Tonight, Jon Gosselin`s strange sex appeal. Why is it that so many women can`t keep their hands off Jon? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT investigates this great mystery of the universe.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

And tonight, an incest shocker on "Oprah" today, so disturbing, it is almost hard to believe. Mackenzie Phillips, the former child star of the `70s TV series, "One Day at a Time" told Oprah today she had a long-time sexual relationship with her father, famed musician John Phillips - yes, that John Phillips from the legendary "Mamas and the Papas."

And Mackenzie`s confessions didn`t stop there including her claims about how Mick Jagger seduced her. What you are about to hear will truly blow you away because what happened on "Oprah" today made for big news breaking.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

PHILLIPS: I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.

HAMMER (voice-over): A jaw-dropping new admission from former child star Mackenzie Phillips. On "Oprah" today, Phillips described in graphic detail what she says was an incestuous sexual relationship with her own father, legendary "Mamas and the Papas" musician, John Phillips.

PHILLIPS: It became a consensual relationship over time.

HAMMER: And that is just one of the startling family secrets Phillips is claiming on her brand-new, tell-all book, "High on Arrival." And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you Phillips` revelations are nothing short of chilling.

PHILLIPS: Your father is supposed to protect you, not (EXPLETIVE DELETED).

HAMMER: We all know Mackenzie Phillips as a teenage star from her role on the 1970s sitcom, "One Day at a Time."

PHILLIPS: Everything is hip, hip hooray because the juvenile jerk made the basketball team.

HAMMER: Even though, she was only 15 when she started on the show, Mackenzie was already Hollywood royalty.

(MUSIC)

Her father, John Phillips, was the founder of the hit 1960s group, "The Mamas and The Papas," whose hits included "California Dreaming."

PHILLIPS: He was a man who lived in a world where the rules didn`t apply to him. And he tried to pass that on to us, kids.

HAMMER: On today`s "Oprah," Mackenzie Phillips said another thing her famous father passed along to his kids was a heavy drug habit.

OPRAH WINFREY, HOST, "THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW": How old were you when you started doing drugs?

PHILLIPS: The first time I did cocaine, I was 11. I was probably 16 or 17 and my father shot me up for the first time.

HAMMER: Phillips says she doesn`t recall exactly when her sexual relationship with her father began, but she told Oprah today that she first noticed it when she was around 18 and woke up next to her father after blacking out doing drugs.

PHILLIPS: I don`t remember how it started or thankfully how it ended. Was it the first time? Had this happened before? I didn`t know and I still don`t. All I can say is that it was the first time I was aware of it.

After the first experience, I went to my father and I said, "Look, we need to talk about how you raped me." And my dad said, "Raped you? Don`t you mean when we made love?" And in that moment, I thought, "Wow, I`m really on my own here."

HAMMER: Because of her drug problems, Phillips was fired from her role on "One Day at a Time" one year later. Still, Phillips claims the incestuous relationship with her father continued.

PHILLIPS: I began waking up after drug-fueled events with my pants around my ankles and my father sleeping beside me. It didn`t happen every day. It didn`t happen every week. But it certainly happened and it happened enough times.

WINFREY: Many times?

PHILLIPS: Many times.

HAMMER: But with all of the shocking things Phillips is claiming, perhaps the most shocking is that she has no hard feelings toward her father who died in 2001.

PHILLIPS: I don`t hate him. I understand that he was a very tortured man and sort of passed that torture down to me.

HAMMER: So why is she speaking out now? Mackenzie Phillips told Oprah today it`s because she is convinced she is not alone.

PHILLIPS: Someone needs to put a face on not only nonconsensual incest but consensual incest.

WINFREY: Yes.

PHILLIPS: ... because I know it exists. I know it`s happening in families and I can`t be the only person who have lived through this.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. And yes, there`s more. The blockbuster claims from Mackenzie Phillips about her late father John Phillips just keep on coming.

Joining me tonight from Hollywood is Pat Lalama, who is an investigative journalist. And in New York, Carolina Bermudez, who is a senior editor for "In Touch Weekly."

Mackenzie Phillips` claims on "Oprah" today - I have to tell you, I find just astounding. And Pat, I`m having a hard time wrapping my head around it. Can you help me out here?

PAT LALAMA, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: Let me tell you something, A.J. I`m right there with you. I`ve covered so many heinous Hollywood family stories. I`m fighting back tears as I`m listening to the previous story. It`s absolutely shocking. I think she`s so incredibly damaged.

Let me tell you something. I remember covering her drug problems and I remember distinctly thinking - this isn`t just a young woman who got caught up in recreational Hollywood drugs and the sex and rock and roll. It seemed deep-seated, layered, insidious to me.

I always felt like her way of self-destructing had - there was some big secret that she was hiding. I swear to you, it was always inside of me, and here it is.

HAMMER: Wow. And you know, throughout the years, we have heard so many shocking claims from so many celebrities and so many tell-alls. But Carolina, nothing like this. I mean, wow.

CAROLINA BERMUDEZ, SENIOR EDITOR, "IN TOUCH WEEKLY": This isn`t even shocking. These are bombshell stories she`s telling right now. And it`s beyond my comprehension how somebody can have a consensual, incestuous relationship that goes on for more than 10 years or so.

I mean, for me, listening to the story, it was not only sickening, but it was uncomfortable. And it really made me sad for her to hear her go through all of these accounts and about how - even though she had the chance, she had that sex with her father the night before she was getting married - just the reasons why she kept on going back there. It really is very disturbing.

HAMMER: Well, along with Mackenzie`s bombshell claims on "Oprah" today, Oprah dropped another bombshell of her own. She invited back Mack`s (ph) "One Day at a Time" co-star Valerie Bertinelli on to surprise Mack. You know, they were doing the show at the same time Mackenzie claims she was having sex with her father. You`ve got to see this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WINFREY: Someone wanted to be here today to support you. Yes, she did. Valerie Bertinelli.

PHILLIPS: No.

WINFREY: Yes. Valerie Bertinelli.

PHILLIPS: Oh, my god.

VALERIE BERTINELLI, ACTRESS: I, more than ever, look up to you now.

PHILLIPS: You didn`t know that, did you?

BERTINELLI: No. I had no idea what you`ve been through.

PHILLIPS: Nobody did. Oh, Val, I`m so happy you`re here.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I think it was a nice and probably comforting moment for Mack there. As you know, Valerie Bertinelli confessed to Oprah Winfrey and told me herself just last year that she used drugs with Mackenzie Phillips.

Pat, you know, to hear all this from Valerie and the claims today from Mackenzie, "One Day at a Time" is still in reruns around the world. Can we ever look at them the same again?

LALAMA: I never will. You know, you never know what`s truly going on inside a young person`s life. Yes, those were the days of reckless abandon, having a great time. There weren`t any rules. "I`m in TV. I`m a big star."

But to find out now what was going on within the realm of her own biological family life is just mind-blowing and heartbreaking. And she is going to be damaged one way or the other for the rest of her life. I only hope that people can take her book and learn from it. Other victims will say, "OK. If she`s telling, I`m going to go tell because we need help."

HAMMER: Yes. Well, that`s what Mack hopes. And I mentioned John Phillips, her dad, passed away back in 2001 so we don`t get to hear his side of it. But besides Valerie`s reaction today, Oprah did get a statement from Mackenzie`s stepmother who was married to John Phillips while she was allegedly having sex with Mack.

Genevieve Waite Phillips says this, "I`m stunned by Mackenzie`s terrible allegations about her father. I would often complain to John about her overly familiar attitude towards him and he would tell me that that was just her way. John was a good man who had the disease of alcohol and drug addiction. He was incapable, no matter how drunk or drugged he was, of having such a relationship with his own child."

Quickly, Carolina, Genevieve saying this couldn`t have happened. But based on the detail we heard today on "Oprah," does it even seem feasible Mack could have made this up.

BERMUDEZ: I don`t think so. At first, I thought maybe blackouts. Maybe she could have been hallucinating. But the fact that she owned up to having an abortion and going to her father and that this may have led to a pregnancy.

HAMMER: Yes.

BERMUDEZ: I think that there`s some real deep-seated secret here and she revealed it.

HAMMER: Hard to fathom it`s fabricated. Well, here`s another big question about Mackenzie`s disgusting claim. Why did she finally end her affair with her very own father?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WINFREY: How did it finally stop?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And the shockers - they don`t stop there. Mackenzie also claims "Rolling Stones`" rocker Mick Jagger locked her in a room and insisted on having sex with her. Carolina, Pat, you`ve got to stay put. Don`t go anywhere. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you more of today`s shocking interview on "Oprah."

OK. So moving on here - what`s the deal with Jon Gosselin? Why is it that so many women can`t keep their hands off of him? Is it his personality? Is it his looks? Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is investigating this great unsolved mystery - Jon Gosselin`s sex appeal.

Plus, why are so many big stars over 40 having babies? It`s a must- see SHOWBIZ special report. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Time now for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: Whitney Houston`s appearance on "Oprah" bumps her album to number two on Billboard 200. Justin Timberlake signs on to star in movie about the formation of Facebook.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. Tonight, a SHOWBIZ special report, Babies after 40. They`re fabulous. They`re moms. And they all gave birth after 40.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT and "More" magazine teamed up to bring you the incredible story of some of Hollywood`s brightest stars doing whatever it takes to become a mom after 40. From Nicole Kidman to Halle Berry to Marcia Cross, get ready for their truly inspiring stories of becoming a mom and loving it after 40.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over): Who says you can`t have a kid if you`re over 40?

LESLEY JANE SEYMOUR, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, "MORE" MAGAZINE: For the last 25 years, the number of women having babies over the age of 40 has since doubled. That is huge gigantic change in everything and Hollywood is no exception.

HAMMER: That`s why SHOWBIZ TONIGHT and "More" magazine are now revealing the most fabulous women over 40 who are having kids and loving it.

ELLEN DEGENERES, HOST, "THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW": So you`re having twins?

MARCIA CROSS, ACTRESS: I`m having twins.

DEGENERES: Wow.

HAMMER: "Desperate Housewives" star Marcia Cross was 44 when she announced her happy news on "Ellen" back in 2006.

DEGENERES: Are you thinking of names and everything yet? Or.

CROSS: Well, "Ellen" actually is my sister`s name and is a favorite of mine.

HAMMER: And in 2007, she had twin girls and named them - well, not Ellen - but Eden and Savannah. But it wasn`t an easy road to motherhood for Marcia and her husband.

SEYMOUR: They did in-vitro. It took them a long time to do. And you know, she was terrifically happy when it all happened.

HAMMER: Halle Berry took a similar path to motherhood. At 41, she gave birth to daughter, Nahla and said it was like a dream come true. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was with Halle right after she found out the good news. And she told me what motherhood means to her.

HALLE BERRY, ACTRESS: Just experiencing what motherhood is all about - unconditional love in my life to raising a human being who I hope will be someone who adds something wonderful to this world in which we live in. That`s like the biggest challenge I can think of in life right now.

HAMMER: Berry didn`t hide the fact that, yes, it was hard to get pregnant after turning 40. But it was totally worth it.

And if there`s a mom with a message out there, it`s Salma Hayek. She says to all women, it`s OK to wait to have a kid.

SEYMOUR: Salma Hayek waited until she was 41 to have her first child.

HAMMER: And that`s why she makes the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT and "More" magazine list of fabulous women who have had kids after 40. Hayek`s got her own philosophy about motherhood saying, "Motherhood is not for everyone. It is for me, but there`s no reason women should feel rushed to have a child."

Holly Hunter definitely didn`t feel rushed to have her twins. She waited until she was 47. She`s one of seven children herself. And Holly may be Hollywood royalty, but the beauty of Holly is that she is bound and determined to keep her kids out of the spotlight - and she has.

And Nicole Kidman`s star spotlight is almost unavoidable. And that`s why she`s right at the top of the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT-"More" magazine list of women who have had kids over 40. When she was 40 years old, Kidman and country superstar husband Keith Urban welcomed their first child together, Sunday Rose. She was actually pregnant while shooting the epic film, "Australia."

SEYMOUR: Now, she has two adopted children with her former husband, Tom Cruise. This is her first child biologically. And what`s so lovely is she says she felt her heart was stretching. And I think, again, mothers totally relate to that.

HAMMER: So does Nicole plan on having more? Well, she tells me she isn`t ruling it out.

NICOLE KIDMAN, ACTRESS: If I have more kids, that`s beautiful. I would love to be able to, you know, get lost in that.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: And they`re not the only fabulous women who have had kids after 40. So is Geena Davis at 53, Helen Hunt, Jennifer Beals, Mariska Hargitay - all when they were 45. And Beverly D`Angelo when she was 57, if you can believe it. Be sure to pick up a copy of this month`s "More" magazine. It is on newsstands right now.

Of course, Jon and Kate Gosselin have plenty of kids of their own. And yes, the "Showbiz on Call" - they are still ringing about these two.

Coming up, we`re investigating why Jon is getting so many women. Is it his looks? Is it his charm? And in fact, the "Showbiz on Call" operators - they`re split. Some of them think he`s sexy. Some of them, not so much.

Anyway, we`ve got a call in to "Showbiz on Call" from Melissa in Oregon. Melissa says that she knows why Jon is dating around.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

CALLER: I think Kate is a wonderful mother. And I think Jon already knew how she was before he married her. What he got is what he got and they had eight children together. I think that he`s going through a midlife crisis.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: Thanks a lot, Melissa. Maybe not quite a midlife crisis. Jon`s only in his early 30s. Also we heard from Vanessa calling into "Showbiz on Call" from Florida, and she blames Kate for their breakup.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

CALLER: I think that we should really look at Jon as the victim here. Kate was - you know, Kate is a good mother, but she was a horrible wife. She was very abusive to him. And she embarrassed him throughout the entire show.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: I appreciate your call, Vanessa. And I would love to hear from you. The "Showbiz on Call" phone lines are always open at 1-888-SBT-BUZZ; 1-888-728-2899. That`s where you can leave us a voicemail so we can play some of your calls here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Well, the claims made by former "One Day at a Time" star Mackenzie Phillips today just unspeakable, that she had a longtime sexual relationship with her dad and how she allegedly had sex with Mick Jagger.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PHILLIPS: My dad, you know, comes back and - "That`s my daughter in there! Let her out!" And we didn`t - we ignored him. It`s a dubious distinction having had sex with Mick Jagger. I mean, come on.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tonight, Mackenzie reveals just how the disgusting relationship with her dad finally came to an end, and how Mick insisted on having sex with her.

Also, John Travolta`s heartache. He finally breaks the silence today about the death of his son and he`s revealing something about his son, Jett, he has never talked about before.

Also, the startling news about what might have happened to "Charlie`s Angels" star Jaclyn Smith. The SHOWBIZ truth squad is on the case. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Now, it`s time to roll out the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - these are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

However, former stunt double may not be. There are reports that it was the stunt double who was shot. No word right now on how she`s doing.

SAMBERG: Your boob.

FOX: Keep my boob in my pants?

SAMBERG: Yes.

FOX: You`re an idiot.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And as if Megan Fox isn`t (INAUDIBLE) enough as you heard on Saturday, U2 is the musical guest.

All right. So there`s this big battle going on right now in our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook page. You`ve got to go there and check it out. But look at what I got for you. Ellen versus Paula Abdul. Ellen`s got plenty of critics, folks who think that she won`t be able to hack it on "American Idol."

Cheryl R. writing, "The producers of the show will rethink their decision when the ratings go down the toilet this year. She (Ellen) is too old and people are not as into her as some think."

But Doris T. didn`t like Paula`s spoof of Ellen during VH1`s "Divas," writing, "I don`t think Paula should make fun of Ellen especially since Paula had some pretty embarrassing moments of her own on "American Idol."

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

Tonight, Mackenzie Phillips` explosive confessions to Oprah today claiming she had sex with her own father.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PHILLIPS: I began waking up after a drug-fueled event, yes, with my pants around my ankles.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I am telling you, Mackenzie`s startling sex confessions today will absolutely blow your mind. Here are the big breaking developments. Mackenzie who, of course, starred in the sitcom "One Day at a Time" is the daughter of the late rocker John Phillips of the "Mamas and the Papas.

She made the jaw-dropping claim on "Oprah" today that she was having sex with her famous father for over 10 years. I`m telling you, these are unbelievably disturbing details.

More big news breaking. Mackenzie drops another bombshell today that her incestuous relationship with her father ended as dramatically as it began. You have to got to hear how she says she finally ended their sick sexual affair.

And if that`s not shocking enough, more big news breaking, Mackenzie reveals to Oprah how Mick Jagger, of all people, locked her in a room to have sex with her.

Joining me in Hollywood, Pat Lalama, who is an investigative journalist. Also joining me in New York is Carolina Bermudez who is a senior editor for "In Touch Weekly."

This really is such an incredible story involving claims of drug abuse, claims of rape. And Mackenzie is saying she had sex with her father. And she tells all in this new book is called "High on Arrival."

And on "Oprah" today, Mackenzie read an excerpt from the book where she describes how she says the incest first started. You`ve got to watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PHILLIPS: I woke up that night from the blackout to find myself having sex with my own father. I don`t remember how it started or thankfully, how it ended. Was this the first time? Had this happened before? I didn`t know. I still don`t.

All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment, I was in my body. In that horrible truth, and then I slipped back into a blackout. Your father is supposed to protect you. Your father is supposed to protect you - not (EXPLETIVE DELETED) you.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. I mean, the whole thing is just so sad. You could see her trembling throughout this entire interview. Pat Lalama, let me go to you first. Are you surprised that Mackenzie would not only reveal this, but go into such graphic detail about it?

LALAMA: You know, it`s a hard call, A.J. I think a lot of times the celebrities feel this is the cathartic moment. Put it in a book. Perhaps others can learn from this. There`s another side of me that says, you know what? Why put it in a book? Why not go, you know, help treat abused children, do something else.

I`m so torn about using the medium for the message. What really troubles me is that she asked the public not to hate her father. That troubles me. How are we supposed to feel about the man?

HAMMER: Yes.

LALAMA: That tells me that she still has some work to do emotionally, I believe.

HAMMER: Yes. I`m right there with you. And when we step back from this, I mean, think about the magnitude of what we`re talking about here. You have this teenage star from an iconic sitcom, "One Day at a Time," having sex with her legendary rock star dad from the "Mamas and the Papas."

And Mackenzie claims the incest was consensual and it was going on when she was between 18 and 29 years old. So what finally made Mackenzie put an end to this sick sexual relationship she says she was having with her dad? Well, I`ve got to tell you, that answer is just as shocking. Watch what she told Oprah today.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PHILLIPS: I came up pregnant and I did not know who the father was. The implications, the reality of that - I had an abortion. And I never let him touch me again.

WINFREY: You never let your father touch you?

PHILLIPS: Never.

WINFREY: Because you didn`t know if the father was your father?

PHILLIPS: That`s correct. I didn`t know.

WINFREY: Did you tell your father, "I became pregnant and I -"

PHILLIPS: He paid for the abortion.

WINFREY: Did you tell him that, "This might be your child?"

PHILLIPS: Well, he knew. He knew it might be his child.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Holy moly. I`m listening to this and I don`t believe it. And it`s just so sad. Carolina, can you even wrap your head around why it took Mackenzie so long to end what was just a disgusting situation?

BERMUDEZ: No, A.J. This is just such a gruesome account and in detail. It`s really to hard to wrap your head around anything that`s going on or anything that she`s saying right now.

The only kind of logic that I can put behind this is that, at times, abused children tend to identify or they tend to keep a relationship going on with their abuser. But this was not a child. She was between the ages of 18 to 29 years old when this happened. It`s just so bizarre and it`s really, really hard to wrap my head around this whole story.

HAMMER: Yes. Pat, what do you think about that? It`s hard for us to understand not being in her shoes or the shoes of anybody in that situation. Why it would take so long to end something that is so clearly wrong. I mean, we`re not being judgmental here. It`s wrong. Do you understand it?

LALAMA: It`s hard to understand it, but I think I have a bit of a clue even though I`m not a psychologist. There is no such thing as consensual incest. He may not have been holding a gun to her head, but the abuse of authority, the abuse of power is just as strikingly powerful over her mind, over her psychologically.

You can`t get out from under it. If you talk to a psychologist - and I`m sure you folks will do something down the road on this - they will tell you she, in her own mind, couldn`t get out from under it. The authority - the abuse of authority are the words I can`t even tell you about.

This is what was happening to her psychologically. It wasn`t consensual. She didn`t realize it. She may have thought she was agreeing to it. But her mind was not capable of saying, "Oh, this is wrong and my dad shouldn`t be doing it. Therefore, I`m going to stop."

HAMMER: Yes. No, you`re making a great point. I`ve been having a hard time getting past that word "consensual" all day, but that`s what Mackenzie claims.

And there`s yet another big bombshell that Mackenzie made, just a stunning revelation to Oprah today, claiming that in a private moment, at one of her dad`s big-time Hollywood-like parties that was going on in New York City, Mick Jagger actually locked her in a room to have sex with her at a moment when her dad happened to walk out to get some mayonnaise for a sandwich she was having. Here`s how she explained it on "Oprah" today.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PHILLIPS: So my dad walks out, Mick turns around, locks the door, looks at me and he says, "I`ve been waiting for this since you were 10 years old." I was 18. There`s no pedophilia involved here, because, you know, that is not what we`re going for here.

And he seduced me. And my dad, you know, comes back and - "That`s my daughter in there! Let her out!" And we just didn`t - we ignored him. It`s a dubious distinction having had sex with Mick Jagger. I mean, come on.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow, Carolina, I mean, it seems like that didn`t bother her - something she almost seemed proud of. It was almost groupie-like.

BERMUDEZ: I agree with you. It looked like she relished in telling that story that it was a dubious distinction. Meanwhile, I mean, I don`t know about you but any other - I don`t know about anyone out there. But any guy who`s going to take advantage of a man`s daughter that`s his friend, I don`t think that he would be OK with that, even after she said her dad called the next day and asked, "Did Mick take care of you?"

It almost like she loved telling the story and that it`s another notch on the bed post. That`s what makes me think. Is this the proper place to be telling these accounts on "Oprah?" Should she be in a therapist`s office, maybe working through these stories in the past?

HAMMER: Yes. I hope she`s in some serious therapy for all of this. Mackenzie - and this goes back to something we touched upon. She told Oprah today that she compared her alleged incest with Stockholm Syndrome. That`s when, you know, a prisoner becomes able to trust her captor.

And she also claims that her dad shot her up with drugs when she was just 14 years old. Mackenzie said she eventually forgave her father for all of this when he was on his deathbed in 2001.

But, Pat, are you surprised that she could forgive him at all? That is shocking to me.

LALAMA: You know what? If you covered enough child abuse cases as I have in the many years that I`ve been a reporter, you will see children in family court forgive their parents for some of the most heinous, unbelievable acts against them.

I think there`s a biological nature to want to say, "It`s my blood." If there`s something wrong with them, does that mean there something wrong with me?" At the same time, I think most modern psychologists will say, "You don`t have to love your parents when they do bad things to you." She needs to continue to get help. I hope she is.

HAMMER: We do, too. Pat Lalama, Carolina Bermudez, thanks, guys.

Let`s move on tonight to something that`s really got me scratching my head - Jon Gosselin`s sex appeal? Really? I`m telling you, this reality TV star has got some strange kind of mojo that is apparently driving women wild. We`re breaking down Jon`s strange sex appeal in a brand-new investigation.

And from one sexy star dad to one who`s, well, trying to get his sexy back - Britney`s ex-husband, Kevin Federline. He`s packed on a few pounds. Now, K-Fed is trying to get K-fit in a dramatic new way.

And tonight, John Travolta finally breaks his silence about his son`s tragic life and death. For the very first time today, he reveals what really happened in the final moments of Jett`s life - the heart breaking details you haven`t heard. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. Tonight - all right, is Jon Gosselin sexy? You heard me - is the 32-year- old playboy father of eight a sexy man?

Well, believe it or not, there was a brand-new story out today that says a lot of women out there think Jon Gosselin is a catch, a stud muffin, a 10 out of 10. Let`s take a look now at this bad boy in action.

All right. Stop that. Stop that. Also, it`s Kevin Federline. We learned today that the ex-husband of Britney Spears who, well, has put on more than a few pounds, is doing what any outstanding young dad would do after a weight gain. He`s joining the reality show, "Celebrity Fit Club," of course. Good move or train wreck waiting to happen?

Joining me tonight in New York is Megan Alexander, a correspondent for "Inside Edition." Also tonight, in New York, Suzanne Rozdeba who is a senior editor for "Star" magazine.

We must begin tonight with the burning question that was raised today. Why do women everywhere find Jon Gosselin sexy? What is his secret? The je ne sais quoi that drives the women mad?

The 32-year-old soon-to-be ex of Kate Gosselin has a girlfriend 10 years younger. Lot`s of women have been coming out of the woodwork alleging they have been with him, too. Suzanne, please, explain it to me. Is Jon Gosselin sexy?

SUZANNE ROZDEBA, SENIOR EDITOR, "STAR MAGAZINE": Well, we all know, it`s not his six-pack. But women tend to find him sexy because he`s a smooth talker. He goes in and tells the women that he`s been with that they`ll be with him forever, that he`s absolutely going to love them forever. And they believe it.

HAMMER: Well, this is what some of the women who claim he`s wooed them are saying that he`s very slick when he wants to be and he`s a real fast mover. And in fact, former "Star Magazine" writer Kate Major told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, in an exclusive interview, that she lost her head with John. And she told me just how she got swept away the first time they met. Let`s watch this piece of glory.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KATE MAJOR, FORMER "STAR MAGAZINE" REPORTER: I just thought it was a little bit fast how he invited me to dinner. He invited me to this party. And then, we held hands and kissed in the car and this was all -

HAMMER (on camera): That was on the first night?

MAJOR: Yes.

HAMMER: You kissed on the first night?

MAJOR: Unfortunately, yes.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Hey, fast mover indeed. Megan, I`ve got to ask you, from what we`re hearing from Jon Gosselin, do you get how women everywhere could be totally and utterly attracted to this dude?

MEGAN ALEXANDER, CORRESPONDENT, "INSIDE EDITION": You know, I think, A.J., some of these women are still in love with the original Jon Gosselin that America fell in love with, the guy that was a good father, you know, loved his eight kids.

That image is starting to peel away though he does carry the sympathy vote still pretty well. But these women currently that have dated him - I think they`re not so much in love with Jon Gosselin as they`re in love with the attention dating Jon Gosselin brings them.

HAMMER: Well, a lot of people are talking about this. In fact, our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook page was in full debate mode. You know what I mean if we checked it out today. Women were firing off comments on our wall left and right.

Nobody really could agree on one simple question, is Jon Gosselin sexy? Let me read some of what people are writing. Sherry H. says, heck yes, "He does have really pretty Asian eyes and he likes kids and dogs. He has some money and he was off limits for a while. So what`s not to like?"

Susan F. agrees. She says, "He is way fine and because he was treated so wrongly by that (EXPLETIVE DELETED), it makes me want to just love on him and show him how it can really be."

But then, we have the other side with the haters checking in. We have Lisa L. Writing, "He doesn`t appeal to me. Short dorks flashing money just don`t do it."

Julissa N. agreed saying, "I don`t think he is good looking and who wants to date a guy with eight kids?"

Suzanne, have any of those comments swayed you to the other side of how you may feel?

ROZDEBA: Absolutely not. I mean, Jon is still the guy who manages to have all of these eight kids, run around, have his life, you know, have his little bachelor ways on the side, have these girls. I am just astounded that women still find him sexy. It`s amazing.

HAMMER: Oh, yes. You didn`t come in here exactly gushing about him or anything. All right. Please, let`s move on to the other big divorce dad news - Kevin Federline wants to lose weight. The now-much-heavier ex- husband of Britney spears has been the butt of a lot of jokes lately because of, well, a big weight gain.

Today, we learned K-Fed is going to join VH1`s "Celebrity Fit Club" so he can get back down to his dancing body. Megan, what do you think? Is this a good idea for K-Fed or a train wreck just waiting to happen?

ALEXANDER: Oh, I think it`s a complete train wreck. I don`t doubt it for one minute that he purposefully packed on those pounds to get a show. A.J., this is the same guy that tried to be a rapper, tried to launch a career as an actor.

He has been riding Britney Spears` coattails as much as he could. I think the only way that show could be remotely interesting is if Britney Spears shows up. And you know, they thought of that.

HAMMER: Well, they are going to try to make it even more interesting. K- Fed`s former girlfriend, Shar Jackson, the mother of two of K-Fed`s kids - she is going to join the show as well.

Suzanne, is it too cynical to suggest what Megan had brought up, that perhaps Kevin put on all of this weight so he could get offered a job like this? I think he needs to work.

ROZDEBA: Yes. And he hasn`t really been working out either. I think he actually put this weight on because all he does is go to clubs, get paid to show up, and just parties nonstop.

He`s drinking, eating, and he`s loving it. And I think that this - being on the show is going to be the best thing that could happen to his career.

HAMMER: Well, good luck to you, K-Fed. I know there`s a lot of pressure to stay thin and maybe the show will add to that pressure for you. Megan Alexander, Suzanne Rozdeba, thank you, guys.

New right now - Whoopi Goldberg facing off with none other than Suzanne Somers over Suzanne`s shocking Patrick Swayze comments. We all know that Patrick lost his brave 20-month battle with pancreatic cancer last Monday.

But Suzanne reportedly blamed chemotherapy and not the cancer for taking Patrick so soon. According to a columnist for the "Toronto National Post," Suzanne said, "They took this beautiful man and they basically put poison in him."

Well, that sent Patrick`s longtime friend, Whoopi Goldberg, into a rage. Whoopi was visibly upset this morning and lashed out at Suzanne on "The View." Look at this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": In case she doesn`t know, Patrick went everywhere he could go to find ways to stay healthy as long as he could. That he has been gone a week and the statement comes out is bad timing and bad taste. Suzanne, you know better.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Well, Suzanne is a cancer survivor and a longtime advocate of holistic treatment. She defended herself on her Web site writing this, "In a casual conversation, at a private party (with someone who never identified himself as a reporter), I was asked about this beloved actor. It was never my intention to make an official statement about his passing. I sincerely apologize if my comment has caused any additional pain to his family."

Well, today John Travolta breaks his silence about his son`s life and tragic death. For the very first time, we are hearing heartbreaking details about his son Jett`s life-long battle with autism. And tonight, new information about John`s desperate struggle to save his son`s life. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: 20 million tune into CBS`s "NCIS"; biggest audience for network since 1993. British Academy of Film and Television to honor Robert De Niro.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Thank you very much, Charles. And welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer.

And tonight, John Travolta has broken his silence for the very first time about his son Jett`s life and tragic sudden death. John Travolta`s 16-year-old son, Jett, died after suffering a seizure during a vacation in the Bahamas back in January.

After Jett`s death, two Bahamian officials allegedly tried to get the Travoltas to pay them $25 million to keep documents about Jett`s death a secret.

Well, Travolta testified today in their extortion trial in the Bahamas and said publicly, for the very first time, that Jett had autism. "My son was autistic and he suffered from seizure disorder every five to 10 days. He would suffer a seizure that would last 45 seconds to a minute and sleep for 12 hours."

Travolta also testified today about the frantic moments on the morning of Jett`s death as he tried to save the boy`s life, "Jeff, the other nanny, was doing some compressions. I was doing the breathing. I took the place of the woman who was doing CPR. She was an employee of the Old Bahama Bay."

John`s wife, Kelly Preston, was also in court today for what has to have been such painful testimony. This is the first time the Travoltas have been back in the Bahamas since Jett`s sudden death.

Also tonight, we have big Anna Nicole Smith news. Anna Nicole`s former lawyer and longtime companion Howard K. Stern now facing 11 felony charges in connection with her death two years ago.

Howard and two doctors are set to stand trial for allegedly giving Anna Nicole a laundry list of powerful drugs even when she was pregnant with her baby, Dannielynn.

Shocking court documents also revealed today that Anna Nicole and one of her doctors may have had a romantic relationship. Anna Nicole died in February of 2007 of an apparent prescription drug overdose.

So on Tuesday, we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day and just moments ago we got the final results. I`ve got them right here - "John and Kate: Have they become a laughing stock?"

Roll that out, please. Overwhelming - 95 percent of you said yes. Ha, ha, ha. Five percent no. Some of the E-mails include one from Diana in Indiana who writes, "Jon and Kate who? They are so yesterday!"

Jennifer from Florida, "Jon and Kate are ingrates. Both of you get off your high horses and go take care of those kids!"

Emilee from Illinois writing, "Jon and Kate Gosselin are far from laughingstocks. I have taken their ordeal very seriously and I support them."

And that is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thanks for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. You can catch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on the 11:00s -11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, and in the morning, 11:00 a.m. Eastern here on HLN.
