(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOHN MAYER, SINGER: I`m a little freaked out about dating.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tonight, the brand-new John Mayer interview on "Ellen" that`s left everyone shocked.

Breaking star break-up news. Alex Rodriguez, Kate Hudson - with the World Series over, are A-Rod and K-Hud also over?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

(MUSIC)

Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

BROOKE ANDERSON, CO-HOST: I`m Brooke Anderson. And tonight, is Tiger`s marriage over?

HAMMER: Well, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can now reveal that Tiger Woods` wife is sending him a very public and very startling in-his-face message. For the very first time since the Tiger cheating scandal exploded, his wife appeared in public and did something that was totally out of character and absolutely startling.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can also reveal a great debate broke out today over whether men and women see Tiger`s cheating a lot differently. Are men more willing to forgive and forget than women are? And it all made for big news breaking today.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over): Look closely at this brand-new photo of Tiger Woods` wife, Elin Nordegren, out today with their 2-year-old daughter, Sam. There`s something really significant missing. And it`s not Tiger.

MEREDITH VIEIRA, CO-ANCHOR, THE "TODAY" SHOW: His wife, Elin, is no longer wearing a wedding ring.

HAMMER: Morning news shows are going absolutely crazy over this latest Tiger bombshell. For two straight days now, Elin has stepped out in public without her wedding ring, something she hardly ever did before Tiger`s big cheating scandal exploded onto the front pages and devastated their marriage.

DAVID CAPLAN, "PEOPLE" MAGAZINE: When Elin was spotted not wearing a wedding ring, that got everyone buzzing.

HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that Elin minus wedding ring equals one big question. With woman after woman going public with claims of their own private tea times with Tiger, can Tiger`s marriage be saved.

CAPLAN: While a lot of Elin`s friends say they are done and that her not wearing a wedding ring was very telling, a source in Tiger Woods` camp tells "People" that it absolutely means nothing that she wasn`t wearing her wedding ring.

HAMMER: "People" magazine`s David Caplan tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Elin is devastated by Tiger`s admitted infidelities. But the next step for this troubled couple is anybody`s guess.

CAPLAN: In fact, friends of hers tell "People" that she`s still really planning to leave him, but she wants to give it a few months. There are some friends who are saying she really does want to give it a try. But the majority of the people in her circle are saying she`s done with Tiger.

HAMMER: Tiger announced this past weekend that he`s stepping a way from golf to deal with his family problems. One new report suggests that Tiger may move all the way to France to take advantage of these strict privacy laws that govern the media there.

CORI RIST, TIGER WOODS` ALLEGED MISTRESS: It`s very comfortable. I think he was not afraid to show his affection in front of everybody that was there.

HAMMER: But now, daily reports of Tiger`s alleged infidelities continue to damage his marriage and his formerly squeaky-clean image. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you a brand-new interview shows us exactly how far Tiger has fallen.

HAMMER: In an interview with New Zealand`s Sky TV that hit airwaves today, Tiger Woods talks glowingly about his wife and two small children. It was filmed in November, just before Tiger crashed his car into a tree near his home, Thanksgiving weekend, and blew the low to mid off this secret life he was hiding from his wife and fans.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Family first and golf second. Will it always be like that?

TIGER WOODS, GOLF CHAMPION: Always.

CAPLAN: By Tiger Woods saying how important family is to him, he really loses credibility among his fans or what`s left of his fans because it doesn`t look like he`s speaking the truth. He`s not being honest with his fans.

HAMMER: So even if Tiger continues to struggle to find the right words to explain his actions, it looks like his wife may be making a statement of her own.

CAPLAN: By Elin stepping out and being photographed without her wedding ring, she`s sending a message that she`s coping. She`s going on with her life. She`s still devastated and very hurt. But she`s still is really staying strong for her kids and she wants to decide what to do with her marriage.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: So can Tiger`s marriage survive his serial cheating? And what kind of message is his wife sending by going public without her ring?

With me now from Hollywood tonight is Carlos Diaz. He`s a correspondent for "Extra." And here in New York is Midwin Charles. She`s a legal contributor for "In Session."

Hey, Midwin, Carlos, listen. The only time I take off my wedding ring is for a workout and Elin, to me, looked too good to be going to or coming from the gym. So Midwin, you don`t have to be a rocket scientist to deduce that Elin is sending a very strong message here.

MIDWIN CHARLES, LEGAL CONTRIBUTOR, "IN SESSION": Absolutely, and nor should you be. I think it`s abundantly clear. I mean, he literally has had transgressions with about 10 or 12 women. And we know every single painstaking detail about it, thanks to Twitter and Facebook and texting and all the like. And so for her to not wear her wedding ring, I think it`s clear. It`s clear.

ANDERSON: Yes. It`s a clear indication. Carlos, does this ring-less message say to you that "Hey, this marriage is doomed"?

CARLOS DIAZ, CORRESPONDENT, "EXTRA": Let me make one thing clear, OK? The best move for Tiger Woods is to get divorced. And let me tell you why. Because it`s one way for people to begin to see Tiger in a light where they kind of feel sorry for him.

He can say to people, "I paid the ultimate price for my transgressions. I`ve lost my wife." And in all honesty, every tournament he goes to, people will ask him, "How`s your wife? How are your kids?"

ANDERSON: Yes.

DIAZ: But if he goes through with the divorce, then they can say focus on golf.

ANDERSON: And the best thing for Elin. We`ve got to think about here. She should drop this guy like a bad habit.

DIAZ: Totally.

ANDERSON: And this morning on "The View,", Snoop Dogg has some very insightful advice for Tiger, and it`s a little bit different than what we`ve been talking about here. Snoop`s marriage of 12 years survived a brief but public separation. He reveals the key for Tiger to do the same. Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SNOOP DOGG, RAPPER: I had to take steps to better me as a person, you know, to take away some of the negative things that I was doing as far as putting myself in a position to be dealing with temptation.

He`s just got to take himself out of that light and focus on his wife and his kids because that`s the most important.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Midwin, it worked for Snoop. But it seems to me that - it seems to me that for Tiger, that ship has sailed. What do you think?

CHARLES: Yes. It`s a bit late. It`s a bit late. I mean, I think Snoop`s advice is great. You know, cut out the trips to Vegas maybe. But it`s too late, I think, at this point.

And I think from Elin`s perspective, one of the most damaging things that no one is talking about with his transgressions is that he put her and her children`s health and possible life at risk.

When you`re trolloping about with all these women, there are diseases and all kinds of things that you can bring back to your home. So -

ANDERSON: Yes, a lot that she has to think about in terms of what decisions she`s going to make going forward. And if all of that isn`t bad enough, get a load of this. Tiger got even more brand-new bad news today. Don`t move. We`re back in just 30 seconds.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: So here`s the additional bad news for Tiger. A brand-new "USA Today"-Gallup poll released today, and it`s devastating, showing how far he`s fallen. In June 2005, Tiger`s favorability rating was 85 percent. Take a look at that. Only eight percent of those polled disliked him.

Now, he`s only got a 33 percent favorability rating. Unfavorable? A whopping 57 percent. Midwin, is this solid proof that Tiger`s massive cheating scandal is too extreme for him to ever really recover from entirely?

CHARLES: I don`t know if he could ever recover from it, right? I mean, I think we`ve seen athletes go through even worse things and come back. But I think it is proof that that is what the climate is today.

Remember, he was just recently dropped by one of his major sponsors, Accenture, and who knows whether others will follow. But it all comes down to trust. And right now, people do not trust Tiger, the person or Tiger, the brand.

ANDERSON: And speaking of other athletes recovering from pretty horrible things, over the weekend, I could not help but notice, you know, notorious dog killer, Michael Vick, being praised by TV sports announcers as he kicked butt on the football field. Carlos, if Michael Vick can be forgiven, I`m thinking, give Tiger some time. This, too, shall pass.

DIAZ: No, but Michael Vick did time, all right? And he`s now one of the leading spokespeople against dog abuse and canine abuse.

ANDERSON: Come on.

DIAZ: No. But what I`m saying to you is this, OK? And I mean this - the only way Tiger recovers from this is if he gets divorced. If he stays with Elin, then women will not forgive him. The only way he recovers is if he gets divorced.

And for anyone out there saying, "Oh, Carlos, you`re so insensitive. You`re talking about a marriage." No. This was never a marriage. Tiger was never faithful to his wife.

CHARLES: That`s right.

DIAZ: He doesn`t know what the definition of marriage is.

CHARLES: That`s a good point.

DIAZ: So why not be single? That`s what he`s been doing the last five years anyway.

CHARLES: That`s a good point.

ANDERSON: Yes. And for Elin, she deserves better. She deserves to find happiness.

DIAZ: Exactly.

ANDERSON: She should not allow him to make her miserable. Carlos Diaz, Midwin Charles, thank you both. Good to see you.

And now, we want to hear from you. It is our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Here it is - "Tiger Woods: Should his wife forgive him?" We want to know what you think. So vote at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight. E-mail us - here`s the address - showbiztonight@cnn.com.

HAMMER: Well, Brooke, I can tell you there is a new, raging debate, a battle of the sexes over this. Now, I want you to think about this. Are men more forgiving of Tiger`s cheating than women?

We`re debating these burning questions tonight. Are women more offended than men? And are all these alleged mistresses actually making women look bad?

And is one of Hollywood`s biggest bad boys really giving up the ladies?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: I`m not dating. I don`t know if you know this - I have sort of a funny track record.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: John Mayer has hooked up with Jennifer Aniston. He`s been with Jessica Simpson. But is one of Hollywood`s biggest players closing up his big black book? What John Mayer revealed on TV today will really surprise you.

The Yankees won! The Yankees won! But with the World Series over, are Kate Hudson and A-Rod over today? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Time now for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker." These are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom and they are making big news right now.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I find this hard to believe. The Hollywood award season is actually here. And today, the Golden Globe nominations were announced. Some big surprises. And of course, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there with stars when they heard the news.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with Brooke Anderson in Hollywood.

I think you`re with me. The Golden Globe is one of the best of the award shows. It`s loose. The stars hang out. They have drinks and dinner. It`s a good time.

ANDERSON: Yes, it`s a fun night, A.J. And the Golden Globe is actually the first big movie awards show of the season which sets the stage, of course, for the Oscars. And what I really found interesting about the nominees announced this morning, a lot of the films aren`t even out yet. Here`s SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

TIMBERLAKE: Best Motion Picture Drama - "Up in the Air."

KAREEN WYNTER, CNN ENTERTAINMENT CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): The Oscar race may be up in the air, but the Golden Globes are coming into sharper focus.

GEORGE CLOONEY, ACTOR: These kinds of systemized, friendly touches keep my world in orbit.

WYNTER: "Up in the Air" earned a leading six nominations as the Golden Globe contenders were revealed, including Best Motion Picture Drama and Lead Actor in a Drama for George Clooney.

Competing with that film for best drama are James Cameron`s ground-breaking "Avatar," Iraq nail-biter "The Hurt Locker," "Precious" and Quentin Tarantino`s "Inglorious Basterds."

DIANE KRUGER, ACTRESS: I`m just extremely excited for us and for Quentin. And I think we`re all going to go out tonight and celebrate.

WYNTER: Clooney`s competition for Best Actor in a Drama includes Jeff Bridges who has won rave reviews for his role as a hard-drinking country singer in "Crazy Heart."

(on camera): The race for best actress drama features a movie veteran in Helen Mirren and a couple of fresh faces, Carrie Mulligan of "An Education" and Gabourey Sidibe, who broke through in "Precious."

GABOUREY SIDIBE, ACTRESS: Does it we`ll write each other because we`re discussing my life?

WYNTER (voice-over): Sidibe`s nomination comes for the first role of her career as a Harlem teen enduring a life of horrible abuse.

(MUSIC)

The Globes devote separate nominations to musical or comedy. On that side of the ledger, it was "Nine" with the key number. The musical, which opens Christmas Day, scored five nominations including Best Picture Musical or Comedy, plus acting nominations for three previous Oscar winners, Mary Cotillard, Daniel Day Lewis and Penelope Cruz.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: Oh, my god.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: That is my tooth.

WYNTER: "Nine" faces off with the comedy smash, "The Hangover," "500 Days of Summer" and a pair of films starring Meryl Streep, "It`s Complicated" and "Julie and Julia."

MERYL STREEP, ACTRESS: Let me find something to do.

WYNTER: Streep also earned acting nods for both of those films, pushing the total Golden Globe nominations of her career to an astounding 25.

SANDRA BULLOCK, ACTRESS: When you look at him, you think of me?

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: Yes, ma`am.

WYNTER: Good news also came in twos for Sandra Bullock. She was recognized for her performance in her drama, "The Blind Side" and in the comedy, "The Proposal." Matt Damon doubled up as well, earning nominations for "The Informant" and "Invictus."

(MUSIC)

On the TV side, the cast of "Agree" has a reason to be gleeful. The show earned its first Golden Globe nomination for Best Comedy Musical Series.

(MUSIC)

The Globes will be presented in Beverly Hills on January 17th.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Oh, of course, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there with the stars today with their very first reaction to being nominated. Best director nominee James Cameron told us today that his sci-fi movie, "Avatar," which is up for best picture, is a childhood dream come true.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAMES CAMERON, DIRECTOR: I was such a fan of science fiction and fantasy. I was such a voracious reader as a kid. All of these worlds and creatures kind of existed, you know, in my mind. And I wanted to get them out, you know, onto the screen.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. He`s been working on that thing for a long time. We were also right there with Jeff Bridges. And after heard about his best actor nomination for "Crazy Heart," he was thrilled telling us he really enjoyed making this movie, but he also really enjoys his life outside of Hollywood as well.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JEFF BRIDGES, ACTOR: I do my best to not work because there`s a lot of things I like to do besides making movies. I like being with my wife, for one thing. We - my wife, Sue told me recently that we`ve been apart 11 months out of the last 14. Can you imagine? So it`s a good thing we`ve been married for 33 years now.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Bridges got it figured out. You have to have a life outside of work especially in Hollywood. The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards airs on January 17th.

ANDERSON: Tonight, brand-new Tiger Woods burning questions. It`s the fired-up battle of the sexes. Are men more forgiving of Tiger`s cheating? Are women more offended than men? It`s the headline-making SHOWBIZ great debate.

And I know John Mayer has dated so many of Hollywood`s biggest stars. But tonight, is he giving up dating?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: I`m a little freaked out right now about it, to be honest.

ELLEN DEGENERES, HOST, "THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW": Dating?

MAYER: Yes. I`m a little freaked out about dating so I`m just going to let time pass and just do my thing.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Seriously? Can it be true? This guy has dated Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson. Wait until you hear what John Mayer said about his love life on TV today.

And Rihanna goes topless. Brand-new pictures out today. Is this a good move by Riri? The ladies of "The View" are all fired up. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

HAMMER: Here comes the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: Roman Polanski`s new film, "The Ghostwriter," to premiere at Berlin Film Fest. "Keeping Up with the Kardashians` season premiere sets records for E!

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Tonight, another brand-new controversy about the MTV reality TV series, "Jersey Shore." MTV is pulling a scene where a female star gets punched in the face.

MTV caught an awful lot of heat for airing a scene in which a woman gets hit in the face by a guy. The guy was arrested but MTV used the violent scene to promote the show.

Now, the cable network has done an about-face and has decided not to air the punch clip. The show has already had a few sponsors bail after a group protested that the show is offensive to Italian-Americans.

So Brooke, a lot of people calling in to our "Showbiz on Call" phone lines totally furious with Tiger Woods. But there are some willing to let him off the hook.

ANDERSON: Yes, you`re right about that, A.J. Bill in Delaware says no matter what, Tiger is the man on the golf course.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

BILL, CALLER FROM DELAWARE: As far as Tiger Woods, not only he did wrong. You would be surprised by the pro-athletes today that do have affairs. But you cannot take his career away from him. He is the greatest golfer and always will be the greatest golfer.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Thank you, Bill.

HAMMER: We also heard from Rachel calling into "Showbiz on Call" from Florida. And she thinks that Tiger should keep quiet for now.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

RACHEL, CALLER FROM FLORIDA: I don`t see a reason why Tiger Woods should do a tell-all. (UNINTELLIGIBLE) or is he going to dig himself deeper and (UNINTELLIGIBLE)? He just needs to let it pass and we will get over it. Face it, we will.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: Thank you very much, Rachel. You can call us at "Showbiz on Call."

ANDERSON: Mark it down - 1-888-SBT-BUZZ. That`s 1-888-728-2899.

HAMMER: So I just checked out the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook page. You guys are really fired up about Chris Brown`s Wal-Mart twitter rant. Now, Chris went off on the store for not stocking his CD. That actually turned out not to be true. They are selling it. Other stores aren`t.

Look at those posts on our wall. Here`s one from Eddie P. who writes, "People are treating him like a monster. Stores have no right to not put his album up for sale. We all make mistakes."

But April R. is furious, "What an idiot. He beat her (meaning Rihanna) and acting like a spoiled little cry baby just shows how out of touch with reality this piece of trash really is."

Plus, more stories breaking from the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker."

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

ANDERSON: And I`m Brooke Anderson. And tonight, Tiger Woods and the battle of the sexes.

HAMMER: Yes. Tiger Woods outrageous infidelity is causing some major burning questions that`s pitting men versus women. And it made for big news breaking today.

A great debate broke out across the land today. Women are stewing. They are simmering. They are about to blow their lids as more claims surface detailing Tiger`s rampant infidelity.

Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT dares to ask the big, burning question. Are men more likely to forgive Tiger than women? And that`s not the only big, burning battle of the sexes question raging tonight. Is it possible that women are more outraged by Tiger`s actions than men?

And are all of these alleged mistresses actually making women look bad? Let the battle of the sexes begin.

Joining me tonight in Hollywood, Carlos Diaz, who is a correspondent for "Extra." Tonight, in New York, is Midwin Charles who is an "In Session" legal contributor.

All right. Look at this. Tiger Woods has apologized. He has fessed up to his infidelities. He says he`s going to try and make it work with his wife, Elin.

Now, a whole lot of men generally seem pretty optimistic. Hey, this whole thing, you know, could work out. A lot of women are like, yes, right. The battle of the sexes begins now as SHOWBIZ TONIGHT dares to ask, are men more likely to forgive Tiger than women? Carlos Diaz, what say you?

DIAZ: OK. First off, don`t kill the messenger about what I`m about to say here, OK?

CHARLES: Uh-oh.

DIAZ: Let me just say - let me just say when I`m playing pick-up basketball with my buddies or playing flag football, you`re focusing on the sport. But when I go golfing with my buddies, 100 percent of the time, we talk about women. That`s all we do, always talking about women, OK?

So that`s the thing. You`re talking. You`re chatting. You`re talking about Tiger. You`re talking about the girls. Men are more apt to kind of say, "Hey, he`s just being a guy, you know?" That`s what guys are going to say.

Whereas women are not focusing on the golf like men are. They`re focusing on the person, Tiger. And right now, the person, Tiger, not doing too well.

HAMMER: No. Not at all. And we don`t even know if his wife is going to forgive him at all. In fact, today, she was spotted for a second time in public not wearing the old wedding ring. What do you think, Midwin? Are men more likely to forgive Tiger than women?

CHARLES: Well, I think from all the, you know, rumblings I`ve heard, men are a little bit more willing to forgive Tiger. Look, I think at the end of the day, women kind of feel like, look, if you want to live la vida loca, don`t get married. If you want to date 12, 13, 14, 20 - who knows how many women, why get married and have a family and put up all these false pretenses?

There is such a thing as a wedding, a ceremony, where he stood in front of, perhaps, 100 people or more, and vowed to be with her and only her. Why go through all that if you`re going to cheat?

HAMMER: I agree with you 100 percent and I think a lot of people watching right now do as well. The only thing I disagree with and I know, Carlos, in addition to talking about women, you`re talking about beer while you`re playing golf.

DIAZ: No, we`re drinking beer. We`re drinking beer.

HAMMER: Now, this is a big - that`s right. This is a big question. There was certainly all the talk on "The View" today. Here`s a shocker. Renowned ladies` man, good old Snoop Dogg, gave Tiger some big advice on this and he actually took the women`s side in the battle of the sexes. Check out Snoop.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SNOOP DOGG: He`s got to stay strong. You know, me and my wife - we have been through a whole lot. But at the end of the day I realized that I love my wife and my kids and I want to be at home with my wife and kids. And I had to give up, you know, the entertainment world and the temptation that was out there, you know, because you have to outweigh yourself and say, what`s more important?

JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": So you think he`s doing the right thing?

SNOOP DOGG: I know he`s doing the right thing but it probably took this experience for him to understand that his wife and kids are the most important things.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: What do you think, Brooke? I mean, will Snoop be right here? Is Tiger going to be able to keep it together? Will all be forgiven and he`ll be able to get his relationship on track.

ANDERSON: She may forgive him. And I think, in time, she should forgive him because holding a grudge is only going to hurt Elin emotionally and physically. But listen, this marriage seems all but over. It`s gone way, way, way too seamy. And to me, A.J., it`s got "Lifetime Movie" written all over this.

HAMMER: Yes. No kidding. Wait until that happens. It certainly does seem like it`s past the point of return.

Well, another big burning question tonight in the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT battle of the sexes, are women more offended by Tiger`s infidelities than men? Carlos, lay it on me.

DIAZ: All right. Not to disagree with Snoop Dogg`s kapizzle(ph) counseling, but I do want to say this. Women will never forgive Tiger. With Kobe, it was one girl that he admitted to. And he said, "I`m sorry," and right away he came out and said, "It was wrong of me."

Tiger - he`s up to 14 now. Fourteen. And when women hear that high a number, they pretty much just check out and say, "No more Tiger for me."

HAMMER: Yes. And that seems to be the case with what we`re hearing on our "Showbiz on Call" phone lines. Women calling in. They seem to be really angry with what they`re saying.

We heard from Tonya in Michigan who thinks that Tiger should pay the price for his infidelity. Listen to Tonya.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

TONYA, CALLER FROM MICHIGAN: I hope Tiger does not get over what`s going on because every time that he got in bed with one of those women, he made a conscious choice to do that. And if Elin takes him back for money, she`s really no better than them, who are clearly out for money. So I hope she leaves him and I hope Tiger lives with these decisions for a long time.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. When you hear Tonya`s really passionate argument there, what do you think, Midwin? Are women more offended by Tiger`s infidelities than the men are?

CHARLES: Well, I think to a certain extent. I mean, let`s be frank here. I think women, for the most part, tend to be a little bit more emotional. And I think one of the things that you notice with these transgressions is that they were not necessarily one-nightstands or what have you.

He seemed to be almost developing some intimacy with these women when you look at text messages and E-mails and voice messages. So it makes you wonder why someone who really heralded his privacy would have affairs with women who had, you know, nothing to lose and everything to gain.

DIAZ: Yes.

HAMMER: Well, that brings us to our next big battle of the sexes burning question. I want you to hang on to your holiday socks for this one. Could it be that all of the alleged mistress confessions are actually helping Tiger?

Now, some say that with so many women claiming all these affairs, it`s starting to get a bit ridiculous. We heard from Jessica P. who is very fired up writing into our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook wall. Brooke, what did she say? She was yelling in all caps.

ANDERSON: You`ve got to hear this, A.J. She writes, "Most of these women are lying. Think about it. They get cash and fame for saying they had sex with Tiger Woods. Even their brains can put two and two together. Let`s say enough is enough and stop giving them what they want."

Carlos, what do you think? With so many women making claims, could this actually help Tiger in a way? The more that come out of the woodwork, the more they`ll be discredited?

DIAZ: It would help Tiger if he actually came out and said, "No. Number six is wrong. Number nine is wrong. And number 12 is wrong. The others are all right." But he`s not doing that. We so could just have, you know, a plethora of women. We could just keep going until we get to 18, 24, 36 and keep going.

But I mean, it`s gotten to be so many now and Tiger has no response. It`s going to keep going and going and going.

HAMMER: Well, I want to get to one more big burning question. I think it is a whopper tonight as we engage in this SHOWBIZ TONIGHT bonanza battle of the sexes. Are the alleged mistresses making actually women look bad?

We`re hearing from a lot of people who are saying that all of these women knew Tiger was married and they`re in it for the money. Midwin, do you agree? Does this make women look bad?

CHARLES: I don`t. I think that there are going to be women who were like that regardless and there are going to be men like Tiger who cheat regardless. Remember, the issue here is Tiger. He`s the one that made the vow to his wife. Not these other women.

So the focus needs to be on him and not these other women. Yes, they are, perhaps, not the most morally-based women. But you`re always going to have that in society. At the end of the day, it was his choice to be with them. Now, of course, they are to blame, too.

HAMMER: They played along, yes.

CHARLES: They are to blame, too, because they knew he was married.

HAMMER: I`ve got to end it there. Midwin Charles, Carlos Diaz, thanks, guys.

Now, over to you. Here`s our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. "Tiger Woods: Should his wife forgive him?" Vote at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight or E-mail us, showbiztonight@cnn.com.

ANDERSON: I got to say, John Mayer, one of Hollywood`s most infamous bachelors. But tonight, John says he`s a changed man.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: I`m a little freaked out right now about it, to be honest.

DEGENERES: Dating?

MAYER: Yes, I`m a little freaked out about dating so I`m going to let time pass and just do my thing.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: John Mayer`s brand-new bombshell revelation today about his life as a swinging single. Is he really through with dating?

And are A-Rod and Kay Hud calling it quits? Brand-new reports today that Alex Rodriguez may have been partying without Kate Hudson. This is just weeks after Kate was credited for helping the Yankees win the World Series. So are they over?

Plus, Rihanna`s topless tell-all. The brand-new controversial topless photos of the singer, and her new revelations about the night Chris Brown beat her up. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: Man who punched Leona Lewis ordered to stay in hospital under mental health law. U2 has highest grossing tour of 2009: $311 million. Madonna is second: $222 million.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: I`m not dating. I don`t know if you know this. I have sort of a funny track record.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: It is the brand-new John Mayer interview on "Ellen" today that left everyone shocked. John Mayer who famously dated Jessica Simpson, the same guy who stepped out in public with Jen Aniston and then explained to the paparazzi why he dumped her is now saying his dating days are behind him.

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson here in New York with A.J. Hammer.

HAMMER: Well, tonight, Mayer`s dating shocker. Singer John Mayer proclaimed on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" today that he`s taking a break from dating. Really? One of Hollywood`s biggest players told Ellen today that his dating days are over for now because he`s just too freaked out about the whole thing. Are you kidding me?

Also, just in today, are A-Rod and K-Hud kaput? Reports have been running wild today that Yankees star Alex Rodriguez and "Nine" star, Kate Hudson, have called it quits. And this, of course, just weeks after everyone gave her credit for helping the Yankees win the World Series.

ANDERSON: Joining us in New York, Cooper Lawrence, who is a psychologist and author of "The Cult of Celebrity." And from Hollywood, Ben Widdicombe, who is an entertainment journalist.

Cooper, Ben, I want to begin with John Mayer`s brand-new proclamation today on "Ellen" that he`s done with dating. You`ve got to hear why John says he`s done. Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: I`m not dating - I don`t know if you know this. I have sort of a funny track record, which actually is not that strange given my age. I`m a little freaked out right now about it, to be honest.

DEGENERES: Dating?

MAYER: Yes. I`m a little freaked out about dating so I`m just going to let time pass and just do my thing. And -

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: He`s going to just do his thing. Cooper, considering his track record, do you think that`s a wise decision for John? Can he do it?

COOPER LAWRENCE, PSYCHOLOGIST AND AUTHOR: Yes. It`s very wise because John`s thing is women and he`s been with a lot of women. Now, remember, he said he`s going to stop dating. He`s not going to stop having sex.

But I think he wants to be able to have sex and not worry about a girlfriend because the girlfriend is going to be jealous. At least, it`s honest. In the wake of Tiger Woods, at least it`s honest, "I want to be with a lot of women. I`m just going to go do that."

ANDERSON: And it`s kind of a warning to all the women out there. His funny track record with famous women has left us all with some very fond memories. Let`s roll out John Mayer`s dating hall of fame.

First, Jessica Simpson. She dated John from August 2006 until about May 2007. Then there was Jennifer Aniston. John dated her for about a year, April of 2008 until this past March. They even went to the Oscars together.

But John famously went public with their breakup telling the paparazzi why he broke up with Jennifer. Ben, are you buying now what John`s selling?

BEN WIDDICOMBE, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: Well, you know, if you hear - if you listen to John`s full remarks, he says that, you know, "I`m famous person and if I`m dating with other famous women, I can`t have any privacy."

And he said, "If I`m dating this person who`s been around for 15 years," which sounded to me like it was another dig at Jen. She sounds like some sort of faithful retainer who`s been around for 15 years.

So I think John needs to take a break. I think that probably being off the market, especially wearing that ugly sweater, is a good thing.

ANDERSON: I love that reindeer sweater. It`s classic. He does have a wicked sense of humor. And to that end, what you were talking, Ben, in terms of being aware that it is his own fault, he told Ellen today that he`s seen the light, sort of. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAYER: I can`t sit here and be like, "Oh, please let me live my life in private with this famous person that`s been around for 15 years." You know, it`s like the last thing you`d want to see me do and it`s like bashing my head and going, "I`m shocked."

DEGENERES: Yes.

MAYER: But then, you know, I`m being followed right now.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Cooper, it`s only now he`s having this epiphany. Quickly, what took so long?

LAWRENCE: I think what took so long is the fact that he - you know, Jen Aniston was really an impact on him. We make light of that relationship, but actually really had an impact on who he was and how much the paparazzi were after the two of them.

And I think he just - I mean, he needs to write music. He longs to be creative. You can`t do that with people following you.

ANDERSON: Yes. He`s a very talented musician. And it is unfortunate that recently, more attention or focus has been paid to his dating life than his music.

I want to move now to the brand-new reports that were everywhere today, that Kate Hudson and Yankees star Alex Rodriguez have called it quits. Cooper, on the surface, a lot of people were baffled by this relationship in the first place. You are the relationship expert. Did you see this lasting?

LAWRENCE: Yes. I was one of the baffled just so you know. I didn`t see this lasting more than a couple months. Once the honeymoon period was over, I thought it was going to be over, not because of her - because of him. I mean, he`s very well-respected. He`s really nice. But he`s the biggest baby in baseball and she has a baby.

ANDERSON: She does. She does have a young son. Ben, Kate did get a lot of credit for inspiring A-Rod to lead the Yankees to a World Series championship. I`m thinking Yankee manager Joe Girardi is calling Kate and saying, "Please, don`t leave."

WIDDICOMBE: Well, let`s be honest. Kate had absolutely nothing to do with how the Yankees fared in the World Series this year. I`m not surprised the relationship hasn`t lasted.

Because, really, when you have two famous people, both of whom whose jobs require you to travel, who is going to be the support system in that relationship? Who`s the one at home taking care of business? Neither of them, clearly. So I`m not surprised it didn`t work.

ANDERSON: And you know, if A-rod, indeed, as some reports have said, does have a roving eye, Cooper, what do you think? Kate should say, "Sayonara?" Because she`s independent. She`s a free spirit. She`s happy. Guys would be lucky to date her.

LAWRENCE: I`m not sure if it`s the roving eye or those two pictures of him dressed as a centaur over his bed. I don`t know what turned her off.

But you know, yes - he`s a player. And he`s honest about being a player. Again, he`s pulling a John Mayer here. He`s the one that should come out and say, "I don`t belong in this relationship. I had been married. I did Madonna. I did Kate Hudson. Now I want to play the field," literally and figuratively.

WIDDICOMBE: Hey -

ANDERSON: Go ahead, Ben.

WIDDICOMBE: I hear Elin Woods is single. I hear Elin Woods (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

ANDERSON: Oh, no. No, no. We`re not going there with Elin.

LAWRENCE: She`s been through enough, Ben.

ANDERSON: Yes, she has, poor thing. Cooper Lawrence, Ben Widdicombe, thank you both.

HAMMER: Well, tonight, a golden moment at the announcement of the Golden Globe nominations today. Justin Timberlake, "The Office" star John Krasinski and "Inglorious Basterds" star Diane Kruger were all there, right there on hand to present the nominations.

It was early this morning and everything was, as usual, delivered with great class and dignity. That is, until Justin Timberlake ripped a zinger of Krasinski while announcing Krasinski`s fiancee, Emily Blunt, was nominated for "The Young Victoria." You`ve got to check this out.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TIMBERLAKE: Best performance by an actress in motion picture drama, Emily Blunt, "The Young Victoria." Somebody`s going to have a good night tonight. Sorry.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Can you say "awkward?" I mean, seriously, it looked like, "Oh, maybe I shouldn`t have done that." No harm done, though. In fact, a lot of the press were there at 5:00 a.m., pretty early day there in the west coast. They wrote about how thankful they were that Justin Timberlake actually broke up a lot of the tension of having to get up so early in the morning.

ANDERSON: All right. Moving now from Justin Timberlake to Rihanna`s topless tell-all. I`ve got your first look at her shocking, really controversial new photos. Was this a good move by Riri after all she`s been through publicly?

Plus, Rihanna`s revelations about telling all about the night Chris Brown beat her up. You do not want to miss this. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

HAMMER: It is time now for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - these are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news right now.

TEXT: "Dexter" finale sets record for Showtime Network with 2.5 million viewers. "Lord of the Rings" trilogy coming to Blu-Ray on April 6.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Hey, welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in New York. Tonight, Rihanna`s topless tell-all. On the cover of the brand- new issue "GQ" magazine, Rihanna bears all, literally.

In the interview, Rihanna reveals that she was relieved to tell all on ABC`s "20/20" about the night Chris Brown beat her. She tells "GQ," quote, "I want people to move on with me because the last big thing they know about me is that night. And I don`t want to be what people define me as."

Well, the ladies of "The View," all abuzz today. Not about what she said but about the message Rihanna was sending in her provocative photos.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BEHAR: She doesn`t want to be a victim of abuse. She wants to be a fashion victim, I guess.

BARBARA WALTERS, CO-HOST AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, "THE VIEW": She wants to be a sex symbol. A sexy symbol.

(CROSSTALK)

SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": She was always a sex symbol. This one is - I don`t know if it`s like, "Now, I`m bad girl and I`m taking control."

BEHAR: That picture is very provocative.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": This one - actually, I think if you look at it - basically, I think it`s a control photo. I think it`s her saying mine -

WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": You can`t have it. It`s mine.

HASSELBECK: Yes. Look a little bit - I think so. I don`t think it`s - I think you can interpret it that way. And you can say that she`s actually blocking -

BEHAR: Well, wait a minute. Talk about a double message. You can have these, but have this?

(LAUGHTER)

SHEPHERD: You can look at it like this, "Look but don`t touch."

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Well, you could decode the message yourself when the new issue of "GQ" magazine hits newsstands next Tuesday.

HAMMER: Well, tonight, more shocking Rihanna-Chris Brown drama. Chris Brown quits Twitter. Well, today, Chris deleted his Twitter account just days after he posted a controversial, expletive-filled tirade accusing stores like Wal-Mart of yanking his album because of his troubles with Rihanna.

In his furious tweet, this is what he wrote, "I`m tired of this (EXPLETIVE DELETED). Major stores are blackballing my CD, not stocking the shelves and lying to customers. What the (EXPLETIVE DELETED) do I got to do? I`m not biting my tongue about (EXPLETIVE DELETED) else."

Well, today, Brown`s Twitter account - Mechanical Dummy is the name of it. It mysteriously disappeared just as Wal-Mart and other retailers came forward to say that they do sell Brown`s album. Wal-Mart tells us the locations that Brown visited were simply sold out. So who`s eating crow now, I ask?

And in one last, final tweet, this is what Chris wrote, "I want to thank all my fans for their support. I love you all. Good bye." And to that I say, good-bye.

Chris has been trying to clean up his image after beating up Rihanna. No such luck. And I`ve got to wonder if this guy is ever going to get it.

ANDERSON: It doesn`t seem like it, A.J. Monday, we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Just moments ago, the final results. "Tiger Woods` Mistress Mess: Can he ever get past it?" Forty- nine percent of you say yes; 51 percent no.

Here are some of the E-mails. Jerry from Texas, "Tiger can and will get past this. He`s a good role model on the course. Off the course is not what we see on TV, so we can only comment on what we see."

Kim from Canada says, "People will never look at Tiger Woods the same way. What world does he live in that this wouldn`t all come out eventually?"

HAMMER: Well, that is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. And it`s cool to have you sitting right here, Brooke. Nice to see you.

ANDERSON: It`s great hanging out with, too, A.J. I`m Brooke Anderson. Remember, you can catch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on the 11:00s - 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, and in the morning, 11:00 a.m. Eastern on HLN.
