A.J. HAMMER, HLN HOST: Big news breaking today on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - Tiger Woods speaks. The unbelievable reaction today to Tiger`s very first TV interview since his cheating scandal broke.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TIGER WOODS, GOLF CHAMPION: I`ve done some pretty bad things in my life. I heard a lot of people, not just my wife.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Did he say enough? Is he sincere? But wait, there`s more. Jesse James, John Edwards - celebrity cheating scandals. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT asks, who is the biggest dog?

Brand-new Kate hate. Kate Gosselin makes her "Dancing with the Stars" premiere tonight, but so many are rooting against her today. So what`s with all the Kate hate?

Jennifer Aniston`s box office shocker today. All that publicity. All that talk about dating her co-star. But Jen`s brand-new film isn`t a hit again. Is her star power just fading?

ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

BROOKE ANDERSON, HLN HOST: Hi there, everyone. I`m Brooke Anderson coming to you tonight from Hollywood.

HAMMER: Tiger gets grilled. Tiger Woods better get ready for even more heat coming his way. A brand-new firestorm his spreading tonight after Woods answered questions for the very first time since the crash that sparked his sordid sex scandal.

ANDERSON: A.J., Tiger answered some tough questions about his scandal but still dodged others claiming privacy. And now, the big mystery remains. Did Tiger say enough to repair his shattered image? Or did he trigger a whole new tidal wave of Tiger outrage? Explosive fallout from Tiger`s first interview has made for big news breaking today.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON (voice-over): While the entire country is talking health care reform, Tiger Woods is trying to do some serious image reform.

WOODS: I`ve done some pretty bad things in my life.

ANDERSON: Today, everyone is talking about Tiger Woods` first interview since his cheating scandal exploded. The interviews come right before he makes his return to golf at the Masters next month.

WOODS: I heard a lot of people, not just my wife.

ANDERSON: Tiger talked to both ESPN and Golf Channel.

WOODS: Yes. I tried to stop and I couldn`t stop. And it was just horrific.

ANDERSON: In separate interviews that aired virtually simultaneously Sunday night. Is this more two-timing from Tiger?

JODI MILLER, COMEDIAN: I think it is unfair for him to mislead ESPN by sneaking off and doing the Golf Channel behind his back. I`m sure he`ll do that to ESPN. He might send the Golf Channel text message.

ANDERSON: With all the confessions from chatty ex-mistresses -

JOSLYN JAMES, ALLEGED TIGER WOODS` MISTRESS: He`s so selfish.

ANDERSON: Naughty texts and "South Park" spoofs -

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Concentration is key.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (EXPLETIVE DELETED). I never should have married you.

ANDERSON: We`ve been seeing lately, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is asking, has Tiger`s one-two interview punch finally allowed Tiger to tame his cheating scandal? At times, Tiger`s two interviews sounded like Tiger in stereo with him covering the same ground in both interviews. He talked about the pain his cheating caused.

WOODS: I was doing a lot of things that hurt a lot of people. I hurt so many people.

ANDERSON: He talked about getting treatment.

WOODS: In-patient treatment for 25 days and more outpatient treatment. Yes, I will have more treatment and more therapy sessions.

ANDERSON: But despite a flood of reports that Tiger is being treated for sex addiction, Tiger refused to confirm that.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You said you were in treatment. The simple question is, for what?

WOODS: That`s private matter as well.

ANDERSON: And don`t even think about asking him for more details about the Thanksgiving weekend SUV crash that launched his cheating scandal.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What happened that night?

WOODS: Well, it`s all in the police report. There`s a lot of stuff, you know, between Elin and I that will remain private.

MILLER: He should be on "Dancing with the Stars" because he danced around so many questions.

ANDERSON: But Tiger did cover some new ground. He opened up to ESPN about how he told his wife and his mother about his cheating.

WOODS: And those are the two people in my life who I`m the closest to. And to say the things that I`ve done truthfully to them was very painful.

ANDERSON: And just days after "South Park" mercilessly spoofed Tiger Woods in a highly-rated episode last week -

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 for X-Box.

ANDERSON: Tiger told the Golf Channel how he feels about all laughs people are having at his expense.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You went from being recognized as the greatest golfer in the world to becoming a punch line. How did that make you feel?

WOODS: It was hurtful, but then again, you know what? I did it. I`m the one who did those things. And looking back on it now, I hurt so many people. I get it. I can understand why people would say these things, because, you know what? It was disgusting behavior.

ANDERSON: But for all those who are disappointed about all the questions Tiger`s not answering, "In Touch Weekly`s" Kim Serafin tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT don`t expect Tiger to reveal much more.

KIM SERAFIN, SENIOR EDITOR, "IN TOUCH WEEKLY": I think probably this is the most we`re going to get from Tiger, for a long time if ever.

ANDERSON: But one thing`s for certain. After months of hiding after the scandal, Tiger is showing everyone with his dueling interviews that he`s back in the game.

MILLER: He`s ready to play. So golfers and women alike, get ready. Tiger`s back.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: OK. So, Tiger may be back in the game. But did these interviews really do anything to help his broken image?

Joining me tonight from Hollywood, Tanika Ray who is an entertainment journalist. In Atlanta tonight, Vinnie Politan who is a host for "In Session" on our sister network, truTV and a Sirius XM Radio host.

And Tanika, I want to start with you. You heard Tiger in his own words in these brand-new interviews today. Has your opinion of him changed at all after seeing what he`s saying there?

TANIKA RAY, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: You know, since the first press conference I`ve been on team Tiger. I just think he`s being a man. He`s taking his medicine like a big, old, strong alpha dog.

And I just feel like he`s making the right moves. Look, he had to do these interviews at some point. So why not keep some space between his interviews and the actual Masters where he needs to be really focused and concentrate on winning that game. So I thought he played it really well.

HAMMER: And no surprise, he`s doing this with great precision. I mean, I do think that Tiger`s new interviews really just reaffirm the fact that he has been so careful and so calculated about every PR right now, which he should be doing. But in my mind, he didn`t really say anything new today -

RAY: No.

HAMMER: And I think he needed to. He stuck to his talking points. Vinnie, to you, were these interviews enough, in your mind, to repair his image?

VINNIE POLITAN, HOST, "IN SESSION": One thing I think he`s trying to do is get back his confidence. Get back his mojo. And what did he do? First thing he did - he throws on the golf hat, A.J. I think that`s significant because we saw Tiger Woods. He looked lost without the golf gear on so he does the interview.

It`s like a home game for him on a golf course with a golf hat, golf sweater. I think that gives him a little bit more confidence.

He`s controlling the situation, "Listen, you get five minutes with me. No, I`m not going to answer this. No, I`m not going to answer that." So I think it`s really Tiger Woods trying to get his confidence and his control back on the situation. Was he successful? We`ll find out.

HAMMER: Let me mark that down. Golf hat equals mojo.

POLITAN: Mojo, baby.

HAMMER: All right. Let`s face it. We all know and we haven`t made any bones about the fact that the televised statement a month ago was a bit awkward.

RAY: Yes.

HAMMER: It was staged. He really wasn`t much better in these interviews in terms of bringing himself to - I didn`t think. Some are saying today that Tiger`s delivery is really a big part of what may be hurting his image rehab right now.

Listen to this in particular. It`s how he answers the question about how much he`s changed in the last year. Roll that, Charles.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TOM RINALDI, ESPN CORRESPONDENT: Tiger, what`s the difference between the man who left Augusta National a year ago and the one that`s about to return?

WOODS: A lot has transpired in my life. A lot of ugly things have happened. Things that - I`ve done some pretty bad things in my life. And all came to a head. But now, being back to my old roots.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: OK. I certainly have to give him credit for owning this thing.

RAY: Yes.

HAMMER: But Tanika - and realizing you`re fully on team Tiger here, do you think he actually did show people a little bit of who he really is now? Or not so much?

RAY: Yes. What do you want the man to do? It`s like a lose-lose situation. Do you want Tiger to get on television and start crying -

HAMMER: Yes.

RAY: And begging for the forgiveness of America and the world - internationally? It`s not going to happen. The reason he`s at the top of his game is because he`s a sportsman. He`s a competitor.

He`s a man who`s about something. And I just don`t think you want to see Tiger weak. He still has to win this Masters in a couple of weeks and I think he`s doing it the best way that he can with saving his dignity as much as possible.

HAMMER: But I think for whatever their motivation, a lot of people still want certain answers that they`re not getting. In fact, Tiger -

RAY: It`s not their business.

POLITAN: Wait a minute. Wait a minute.

HAMMER: Hold on both of you. Hold on for one second because here`s one part of this puzzle that we`re not getting. He`s not giving any of the details about the night of the crash that started this whole public mess.

And a lot of people - and Vinnie, I`m going to ask you this. You know, a lot of people do think this is the last big piece to the puzzle and that this whole scandal doesn`t stand a chance for better or worse of going away until he clears up the mystery surrounding that night.

POLITAN: Exactly.

HAMMER: Vinnie, you agree with me? He needs to talk more about it even though it may seem private or personal.

POLITAN: What`s private about a car accident? What is private about stonewalling an investigation? There`s nothing private about that. That`s where he was off his game right there.

And that was the only place where I think a follow-up question would have helped a lot. Were you or were you not under the influence that night? And how in the world is a car accident a private matter?

HAMMER: And with that five-minute time limit, there were no follow-up questions. Quickly, what do you think, Tanika? Sincerity? At least, were you feeling that from Tiger?

RAY: I was. You know what? He`s done a lot of introspection. And I think he knows what he`s made of. He knows what his mistakes are. Give the man a break. He is trying to recover here. He went away just like we all thought he should have, to go heal, to go recover.

HAMMER: OK.

RAY: To have some rehab. So let the man do it.

HAMMER: Fair enough -

RAY: And hopefully, we`ll get more and more information as this goes along.

HAMMER: All right. I do need to move on right now to another story that is making big news today. Should Sandra Bullock try to save her marriage to Jesse James?

There are explosive claims that James had an 11-month affair with a stripper tattooed head to toe. The big question tonight is, should Sandra work it out or kick her hubby to the curb? Tanika, Vinnie, stay right where you are. We`re going to have that heated debate in just a moment.

ANDERSON: Hey, A.J., what about Jennifer Aniston`s box office shocker today. I`m talking about her brand-new film, "The Bounty Hunter." She did all those interviews. She kept dropping hints about maybe dating her co- star, Gerard Butler.

But her film isn`t a big hit again. A lot of people are asking, is Jen losing her touch? I`ve got an idea - maybe Jennifer Aniston should do "Dancing with the Stars."

Kate Gosselin made her dancing premiere tonight. But there are tons of hating on Kate today. Why are so many people still rooting against her? Where is the love, people? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: Cops called to Sandra Bullock and Jesse James` home for fight between neighbor and media. Oprah set to testify next week in suit brought by former headmistress of Oprah`s school.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. And now, Sandra`s second chance?

ANDERSON: Sandra Bullock`s husband, Jesse James, has apologized for the pain and suffering he`s caused Sandra. Sandra`s hubby accused of having an 11-mponth affair with a 24-year-old heavily-tattooed stripper. But the big question today, should Sandra Bullock try to save her marriage?

Joining me today in New York, Megan Alexander who is a correspondent for "Inside Edition," and Steven Smith, who is the host of the MySpace music feed.

First, Megan, Steven, you have got to check out the late-breaking results of our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day in which we asked, "Sandra Bullock: Should she try to save her marriage?"

Only 34 percent said yes. The majority, 66 percent, said no. Not many people here voting in favor of saving the marriage. I say she should try and make it work if she thinks he`s truly sorry and won`t do it again and only if she loves him enough to stick by him and make it work. It`s going to take a lot of work. Otherwise, kick the guy to the curb. Megan, what do you think?

MEGAN ALEXANDER, CORRESPONDENT, "INSIDE EDITION": I`m pretty much with you, Brooke. Marriage is tough work, no doubt about it. It`s difficult to know what`s going on behind closed doors in someone else`s marriage.

But there`s a great independent movie, "Fireproof," that reminds us, marriage is tough. But if you really stick in there and work hard, sometimes, you can indeed make it.

I think the ball is squarely in Jesse James` court here. He needs to prove that he wants to make it work. I think the added pressure of a Hollywood marriage, where one is often traveling - Sandra Bullock`s case. She`s often on location, filming - just adds more strain to the relationship. But if they work hard and if both people want to make it work, miracles can happen.

ANDERSON: And you`re talking about "Fireproof" starring Kirk Cameron, yes?

ALEXANDER: I am, indeed.

ANDERSON: One of my favorites. All right. Our "Showbiz on Call" phone lines were really overloaded with passionate calls about this topic. Denise from Ohio says Sandra should work it out. Listen.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

DENISE, CALLER FROM OHIO: Sandra needs to stick with him and keep the marriage going. I mean, if you really love someone, you`re willing to forgive him. People mess up and you`ve got to move on. People need to start staying with each other if they love each other.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

ANDERSON: But James from Kentucky says that it`s time for Sandra to just move on. Listen to this call.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

JAMES, CALLER FROM OHIO: I think Sandra Bullock is a wonderful, sweet person, a fine actress. And I think it`s very wrong what Jesse did to her. And personally, I think she ought to just let him go and move on with her life.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

ANDERSON: And the little doggy in the background also trying to add his opinion. Steven, are you with Denise, that Sandra should work it out? Or are you with James, that it`s time for Sandra to just let go of Jesse James for good?

STEVEN SMITH, MUSIC AND POP CULTURE EXPERT: I am more with the dog just outraged at the whole situation. I just want to yell from the top of my lungs. I can`t believe he would cheat on Sandra Bullock after so much she`s done for him and for his children.

Yes, I definitely want for her to work it out. If you love somebody, you`d try to work it out, do whatever you can. Relationships are, indeed, messy. You don`t want to mess them up further.

But you`d like to think you know what you`re getting into. So Jesse did have a reputation before she got married to him. She had to know this. Hopefully, there will be no more bumps on the road. This is a huge speed bump. So I hope she finds a way to drive around it.

ANDERSON: Oh, it`s a really big speed bump. Megan, I`m thinking the message is clear. Don`t mess with America`s sweetheart.

ALEXANDER: That is exactly right. And I think this would not be nearly as difficult if she hadn`t just won the Oscar. You said it - she`s America`s sweetheart. We see her in perhaps the highlight of her career, thanking her husband on stage and sharing her soul. And that`s what so difficult this. She was publicly thanking him.

ANDERSON: Yes. This is a really rough time for her. Unfortunately, many, many people can relate. This is tough. Megan Alexander, Steven Smith, thank you both. Good to see you.

HAMMER: All right. So just a short time ago, Kate Gosselin made her "Dancing with the Stars" debut. But I want to know, why is there just so much hating on Kate today? So many people are rooting against her. What is with all the Kate hate?

Also this -

One of the first calls that I got was actually from Tyler. And he was just so there for me in every way and so loving and so giving, making sure that I was OK each and every moment as well as everyone else.

And I wanted everyone to treat me as if they did on the first one. And it was perfect. It was great.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It`s 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City.

ANDERSON: And I`m Brooke Anderson coming to you tonight from Hollywood. And it`s a cheating scandal smackdown. After Tiger Woods spoke out about his cheating ways, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is getting to the bottom of what he said about his infidelity and why Tiger says he married Elin in the first place.

HAMMER: And I can tell you that Tiger joins a growing list of famous men who cheat, and then, they say they`re sorry. In fact, even the ladies of "The View" had something to say about this growing epidemic today.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Is this the year of idiot men? I mean, you have John Edwards, Sanford, Tiger.

WALTERS: It looks like if you marry a nice woman and she`s a nice lady, you have to have the stuff somewhere else.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Joining me tonight from Hollywood, Tanika Ray, who is an entertainment journalist. And from Atlanta, Vinnie Politan, who is a host with "In Session" and a host with Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

All right. I`ve got to begin with Tiger Woods` brand-new bombshell interview on ESPN where he answers some burning questions that we`ve all had since that car crash back on Thanksgiving.

In fact, the biggest burning question I believe so many of us have been wondering is just, how many women were involved in Tiger`s cheating scandal? Watch what he told the ESPN reporter about that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WOODS: Just one is enough. And obviously, that wasn`t the case. I`ve made my mistakes. And I`ve hurt so many people. So many people I have to make amends to and that`s living the life of amends.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Apparently, one was not enough. Vinnie, I finally have a reason to give Tiger some credit. I think he did a spectacular job of avoiding that question.

POLITAN: Yes. He avoided a lot of questions, didn`t he? I mean, if he`s going to - he wasn`t going to name names. He didn`t want to focus on who the other women are. He is trying to take control again.

He`s trying to become Tiger again. And it`s a long road that he`s got ahead of him, but it begins with winning some golf tournaments. But at the end of the day, are any of us believing any of this malarkey?

RAY: Yes.

POLITAN: The statements and everything else? Maybe Tanika, but nobody else.

HAMMER: Well, yes. Tanika, I mean, I`m guessing as the great defender of Tiger Woods, you`re not going to agree with me. And I think, Vinnie, the answer to that burning question -

POLITAN: Is she going for a caddying job or something? What`s going on?

(CROSS TALK)

RAY: Here`s the thing - here`s the thing -

HAMMER: The answer to that burning question went down in flames for me.

RAY: OK. Well, here`s the thing. As a single woman, it`s like, "Thank goodness I`m single, because these men out there can`t get it together." But when you compare Tiger to like John Edwards or Jesse James, at least, he`s out there trying to say, "I made a mistake. I was a jerk."

And it really doesn`t matter how many women they were. It was just a bunch of women out there that kept him away from his wife. And I have a feeling he wanted to be caught. A man that`s that sloppy with text messages - no, he found himself in a conundrum. He was tough. And I think he was sloppy enough so he would get caught and he`d be able to get through this.

HAMMER: All right. You mentioned the other guys, Jesse James, John Edwards. We`ll get to those comparisons a little more specifically in just a moment.

But I`ve got to say, I have to hand it to ESPN for asking the burning question that so many people have had since hearing woman after woman come forward with their own Tiger tales. They asked, why did Tiger even bother marrying Elin in the first place?

RAY: Great question.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WOODS: Why? Because I loved her. I love Elin with everything that I have and that`s something that makes me feel even worse. I did this to someone I love that much.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How do you reconcile what you`ve done with that love?

WOODS: We work at it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Now, I don`t want to knock the guy for saying what he may believe to be true. But that really didn`t get him anywhere with me. Vinnie, how do you think he handled that big burning question?

POLITAN: It`s one of the toughest questions. The answer there, you know, why would you do this? Well, I mean, there are some obvious answers. Because he could, that`s why he did what he did. He thought he could get away with it, and he didn`t, but he did for quite some time.

I mean, he acted on every impulse. That`s what he was doing. He says he wants to get back to Buddhism, back to his old roots, whatever those are. And maybe it will help him in the future.

But I`ve got to think it`s a little uncomfortable at home. And one reason he may be looking forward to getting back on the golf course is he doesn`t have to be at home.

HAMMER: Brooke Anderson, off to you. Is he getting anywhere with you in terms of how he`s answering these burning questions?

ANDERSON: He`s going to have to do what - when it comes to infidelity like this, A.J., in marriages, he`s going to have to do a whole lot more to make amends in my opinion. And he says it`s going to be a lifetime of making amends.

RAY: That`s true.

ANDERSON: He is right about that. But one thing I admired is that he is taking full responsibility.

HAMMER: Yes.

RAY: Absolutely.

ANDERSON: He`s blaming anybody else and that is hard. That is tough to do. At the same time, I want him to be more forthcoming, more open. Until he really comes clean about everything, he`s not going to drastically improve his image.

HAMMER: Yes. I will tell you this - if he wasn`t taking ownership of what he did, this whole thing would be getting a whole lot uglier right about now.

RAY: Absolutely.

HAMMER: But perhaps our biggest burning question today is, how does Tiger`s cheating scandal match up to these other headline-making celebrity scandals that we`ve been reading about and talking about? John Edwards` affair, the alleged cheating by Sandra Bullock`s husband, Jesse James. Oh, Brooke, why don`t you remind us of what these big dogs did?

RAY: Break it down, girl.

ANDERSON: Sure thing, A.J. Why don`t we begin with Tiger`s low points? There are a whole lot of them. He cheated with more than 12 women. He did not confess his transgressions right away. He betrayed the image he has portrayed to the American people.

Then, we`ve got Jesse James who reportedly cheated on America`s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock, cast an ugly shadow over Sandra`s Oscar win just days earlier. And let`s not forget, this was all allegedly happening while Sandra was helping him fight his ex-wife for custody of his child.

Then, John Edwards, who a lot of people on our Facebook page today is leading the pack in this dog race. Let me break it down for you. He had an affair while he was running for president of the United States.

He cheated on his poor wife, Elizabeth, who is terminally ill. He not only denied his affair with videographer Rielle Hunter, he denied he was father of her baby. Tanika, who is the biggest dog out of the pack?

RAY: You know, they`re all despicable. At least Tiger admits it. And as far as the dog house, it`s a palatial estate, like 30 acres. They all fit inside. It`s talking about who`s worse, a Doberman Pincher, a Rottweiler or a pit bull. They`re all bad.

And when it comes down to it, hopefully, that there are lessons to be learned. John Edwards will write a book and he will go, you know, please forgive me. It`s too late for John Edwards. So I think he`s the worst. Jesse James can redeem himself. So can Tiger. John Edwards - boo!

HAMMER: Yes. I`m right there with you on the John Edwards front. I mean, this is the guy, as bad as everything everybody did in this category is, this is the guy who was asking us to make him the president of the United States.

POLITAN: President of the United States.

HAMMER: And as I`ve said before, I trusted the guy. Vinnie, where are you with this dogfight?

POLITAN: I`m with John Edwards as well. The guy wants to be leader of the free world. While he`s running for president, he gets his girlfriend pregnant, while his wife is battling cancer. He denies paternity. And don`t forget, while she`s pregnant and he`s running for president, he makes that great videotape as well. This guy is insane. He is the dog of dogs. Let`s send him over to Michael Vick`s house.

HAMMER: Brooke, I`m going to ask you to sound off on this real quick. Who is the big dog in the big dog house?

ANDERSON: They are all dogs. I mean, they all took vows on their wedding days. They obviously did not take them to heart or take them seriously. But all lied. They have all deceived. They`ve all hurt the people who loved them most, who stood by them and supported them the most. A dog is a dog is a dog. They`ve all done (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

RAY: Exactly.

HAMMER: All right.

RAY: Where are the men?

HAMMER: Yes. I have to say though, Brooke, that was kind of like a Tiger Woods answer. You didn`t really answer the question.

But now, I`m going to turn it to our viewers for our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day - "Celebrity Cheating Scandals: Who offends you most? Jesse James, Tiger Woods or John Edwards?" Cast your vote at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight.

ANDERSON: And I`ve got to say, we may need a bounty hunter to hunt down Jennifer Aniston`s box office hits. She`s one of Hollywood`s highest- paid actresses. But her latest film, "The Bounty Hunter" just came in third to two films that appeal to kids.

Now, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT dares to ask today, is Jennifer Aniston`s career a ticking time bomb? Or is this just a bump in the road?

Kate`s dancing disaster? Kate Gosselin`s big debut on "Dancing with the Stars" just a short time ago. But she`s still getting slammed today. So why all the new Kate hate?

And Miley Cyrus says she wants to stop doing music, stop doing TV. You`ve got to hear what Miley plans to do next. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

Here comes the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker." These are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. So will Rosie replace Oprah?

ANDERSON: A.J., could be good news for Rosie. But bad news today for Jennifer Aniston, and really, really bad news for the octumom. She may lose her house. It`s all in the buzz today.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over): Rosie O`Donnell replacing Oprah? O`Donnell just revealed that she`s ready to hit talk TV again and hopes to fill Oprah`s shoes. Rosie will debut on her new gig in fall of 2011, just about the time Oprah wraps up 25 years as daytime TV reigning diva.

O`Donnell became a daytime darling when she hosted "Rosie O`Donnell Show" for six years before her stint on "The View."

JENNIFER ANISTON, ACTRESS: I`m not going to jail.

GERARD BUTLER, ACTOR: Oh, I beg to differ.

ANDERSON: Jennifer Aniston`s big box office blow. Not one but two kids` movies steamrolled over the romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston in theaters this weekend. Aniston`s "The Bounty Hunter" earned only a disappointing $21 million.

Far behind, "Alice in Wonderland," starring Johnny Depp, which took number one with $34 million and the surprising "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," which made an unexpected $28.1 million.

Octumom`s stunning money troubles. Octuplets` mom Nadya Suleman has reportedly been skipping payments and could be losing her house. The man who holds the mortgage on Suleman`s $500,000 southern California home says he`s about to begin foreclosure proceedings because the family hasn`t made a mortgage payment in months claiming the Suleman family owes more than $450,000.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: So could the octumom and her 14 children really get kicked to the curb?

Joining me tonight in New York, Megan Alexander, who is a correspondent with "Inside Edition." Also in New York tonight is Steven Smith who is a music and pop culture expert and host of MySpace`s "Music Feed."

Hey, guys, I`ve got to be honest. If the octumom loses her house, I really wouldn`t feel as badly for her as I would for her 14 kids. They did not deserve any of this. And hey, other than getting paid for pictures and magazines, selling videos of her at home with her kids, Nadya Suleman apparently has no other form of income.

Megan, what do you think? Will the octumom suddenly spark a wave of charity, people will line up with their checkbooks to bail her out? Or has that ship sailed?

ALEXANDER: Well, Brooke, this is one example why basic accounting 101 should be a required class in school. I`m not surprised by this. I mean, you feel for the woman. Obviously, her life is chaotic with her kids.

But you said it. She was, at one point, asking for donations on her Web site. Come on, you can`t do that. Thousands of Americans across this country are in the same problem. And they just tough it out and work harder. So she needs to do the same.

ANDERSON: Yes. I certainly do hope, though, that she finds a way to keep a roof over their heads because those 14 innocent children do not deserve to suffer for their mother`s poor decisions.

And hey, here`s a fact - maybe Nadya should take some notes from Kate Gosselin. Kate just made her debut on "Dancing with the Stars." But I can tell you there`s still a whole lot of Kate hate out there.

Kate has been getting tons of heat for competing on the show which tapes in Los Angeles while her eight children are home in Pennsylvania. Kate has said she is doing the show to support her kids.

I think everybody needs to cut Kate - give her a break. Cut her some slack. Steven Smith, do you agree? Is all this Kate-bashing a little unfair?

SMITH: No. Definitely, bash away. Bash her silly. I think she, like the octumom, is exploiting her kids for monetary gain. And what did she do before she had the reality show? Didn`t she have a gig?

Wasn`t something going on? Wasn`t money coming in? If this is the way - if being a reality show TV star is now her occupation, then I look forward to seeing her on "Celebrity Apprentice." No, wait, I don`t. In fact, I look forward to her getting kicked off "Dancing with the Stars" because, obviously, she doesn`t move that well.

ANDERSON: Oh, you are tough.

SMITH: Oh, yes.

ANDERSON: Kate has been shooting down rumors left and right that she`s actually a diva on the "Dancing with the Stars" set. Kate did get a reputation for being a bit of a bully to her now ex-husband on their reality show "Jon and Kate Plus 8."

But Megan, do you think that "Dancing with the Stars" may give Kate a chance to prove to TV audiences that she could be a different person than that?

ALEXANDER: Well, I think it`s difficult because we were clearly on Kate`s side in Kate versus Jon. You know, that was because she was the mom of eight. That`s the role that she played.

But when you start making repeated visits to hair salons for 14-hour hairdos - you know, Brooke, Hollywood Kate doesn`t sit as well with her fan base, I think, as mom Kate did.

So some people can`t make that transition off of her reality show onto what some will call more of a program on "Dancing with the Stars" among some other real celebrities, if you will. So I think we`re going to have to see how she reacts. But I don`t know. I don`t know if she can make the transition.

SMITH: Like Pam Anderson.

ANDERSON: Yes, we`ll have to see about that. All right. We`ve got to move now to Jennifer Aniston`s box office shocker. The numbers are out today. And Jen`s film, "The Bounty Hunter," opened up at number three over the weekend.

Take a look at who beat her out. For the third week in a row, "Alice in Wonderland" came in first. Number two, we`ve got "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," brought in nearly $21 million. Aniston`s film, just $20 million.

You know, that`s not bad. It is still respectable. But Jen and her co-star had been working the red carpets, the TV shows, promoting this film. You can`t pay for all that publicity. But Steven, the critics have not been kind. In fact, there were horrible reviews. So star power can`t even overcome that trump.

SMITH: No, not in this light. It doesn`t matter how big the star is. A bad movie is a bad movie. Every star has had a vehicle that has tanked.

The thing about Jennifer Aniston is it`s hard for her to shake off Rachel from "Friends," which, if you watch a lot of her movies, with the exception of maybe "The Good Girl," that`s the character she seems to push. Some of the movies she has made great cult status like "Office Space" - brilliant.

ANDERSON: True.

SMITH: "Rock Star" - also brilliant. But -

ANDERSON: It is hard when she`s pigeonholed though I agree with you Steven. You win some. You lose some. I think she`s got a lot of fans. She`ll probably be just fine. Megan Alexander, Steven Smith, thank you both.

HAMMER: All right. Miley Cyrus, just 17, but already, she`s had a big career - "Hannah Montana," her music. I`ve got to wonder, why is she about to leave all that behind? Today, Miley says she is done with TV and putting the brakes on her music. You won`t believe what she is planning to do now. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: Miley Cyrus to mentor top 11 "American Idol" contestants on Tuesday. "Borat" star Sacha Baron Cohen weds actress Isla Fisher in Paris.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Tonight, Miley Cyrus is all grown up. Miley is getting ready to say bye-bye to "Hannah Montana" and hello to Hollywood`s A-list.

Seventeen-year-old Miley debuts in her first big screen non-"Hannah Montana" film when "The Last Song" hits theaters this week and also marks the first time she doesn`t sing or perform on stage in a movie. So that has a lot of people wondering today if Miley is setting her sights on growing into a leading lady, maybe dumping not only her TV career, but her music career, too.

Miley stopped by "The View" today and you`ve got to hear what she says about her future.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WALTERS: In terms of being Hannah Montana, you are almost done with that.

MILEY CYRUS, SINGER AND ACTRESS: Yes. I`m done and (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

(CROSS TALK)

CYRUS: But you know, we did have the season finale and so many people thought it was the end of the show for good. It`s not. We have one more season. So I want everyone to know that, too. We have one more coming up. And I have kids who are crying, "I can`t believe it`s over." And I was like, "No, no, no. It`s not over yet."

BEHAR: You`re also putting your music on hold.

CYRUS: Yes.

BEHAR: So it`s just movies now. Is that what you want to do?

CYRUS: I have a record coming out in June and that is going to be kind of the last thing I do with music for a while. I really love films because I like being someone else.

And you know, my music is kind of like my diary for me. So no matter, you know, if I were selling it or whatever - I`m doing a tour with it - it`s just what I love. And I always do that. But I always feel like the music industry is somewhere as positive as I like to be and I feel like films are more positive.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Young Miley, definitely growing up. Her new movie, "The Last Song," hits theaters next week.

HAMMER: Did you see this? All right. I love my job as a television anchor. What`s not to love? I get to sit in this comfy chair at a really cool desk. But I`m here to tell you sometimes delivering the news can be dangerous.

Here`s what went down. It was a big problem on the Houston set of ABC Channel 13 when news anchor Melanie Lawson tried to seize her co-anchor. I`m thinking she probably should have stuck to just reading the news.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You know what? Lean over here just for a second. No, no. Further, further. Come on. Stick your handout because it`s time to get your pitch. Oh, well. So much for that. Go on with the weather. Go on. Go on.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I will do the weather right now.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That`s so good. Did you see the weather guy, by the way, was keeping his cool after his colleague loses her dignity? Well, after the break, the intrepid anchor did tell shocked viewers she was fine. And I`m guessing she has learned a pretty big lesson about staying in her seat.

ANDERSON: Oh, on Friday we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Right now, I`ve just gotten the final results in - "Sandra Bullock: Should she save her marriage?" Only 34 percent of you say yes; 66 percent of you say, well, she shouldn`t bother.

Here are the E-mails we received. Joan from New Jersey says Sandra should kick Jesse to the curb, "Why would Sandra stay with Jesse? Once a cheater, always a cheater. She doesn`t need him. He needs her."

Brenda from Florida, "What Jesse did was wrong and they should both try to make it work if that is what they both want." We appreciate your E- mails.

HAMMER: And we thank you for watching. That is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

ANDERSON: And I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. Remember, you can catch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on the 11:00s - 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, and in the morning at 11:00 a.m. Eastern right here on HLN. Take care.
