(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CYNTHIA NIXON, ACTRESS: There are some gay actors in Hollywood pretending to be straight characters as long as there`s been Hollywood.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: It`s the headline-making interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

HAMMER: Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City with big news breaking today - Travolta`s triumph over tragedy. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT confirmed today the remarkable news that John Travolta and his wife, Kelly Preston, are expecting a baby.

Yes, 47-year-old Kelly is pregnant. And after a year-and-a-half of what seemed like never-ending tragedy for the Travoltas, beginning with the sudden death of their teenage son, one of Hollywood`s most beloved couples finally have a reason today to celebrate.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over): It seems that lately, every headline involving John Travolta has been filled with tragedy, hardship and heartbreak.

But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that the headlines today revealed some much-needed and extremely happy news for Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston.

SUZANNE ROZDEBA, SENIOR EDITOR, "STAR" MAGAZINE: It`s an absolute joy for this whole family.

HAMMER: The brand-new issue of "Star" magazine, hits newsstands today, was the first to report that Preston, who is 47, is pregnant. The news comes almost a year-and-a-half after the sudden death of the Travoltas` 16-year- old son Jett.

ROZDEBA: I think that the fans of the Travoltas are going to be so happy for him and just rooting really for the family as everyone has been since their son died.

HAMMER: Travolta and Preston are not commenting on "Star" magazine`s report that she`s three months along. Just hours after "Star" released their story, the superstar couple, along with their 10-year-old daughter, Ella, announced on their Web site that they are indeed expecting.

Their statements say, quote, "It`s impossible to keep a secret, especially as one as wonderful as this. We want to be the first to share this great news with everyone that we are expecting a new addition to our family." It`s signed, "Love John, Kelly, and Ella."

ROZDEBA: It`s obvious by the statement that John and Kelly can`t wait to share the news with everyone and I think everyone will be very excited for them.

HAMMER: The word "expecting" in the Travolta`s initial statement raised all kinds of questions at first. But late today, a spokesperson for Travolta confirmed to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that Kelly is indeed pregnant.

News of Travolta and Preston`s new family addition is definitely a bright spot after a run of tragedy that began last January. Their son, Jett, died after suffering a seizure during a New Year`s family trip to the Bahamas.

ROZDEBA: After Jett died, we didn`t see John and Kelly for months. I mean, they really stayed inside. They didn`t do any sort of public appearances.

HAMMER: But they were forced back into the spotlight last September when Travolta returned to the Bahamas to testify in an extortion trial. Two people were accused of trying to blackmail the star couple for $25 million over private information about Jett`s death.

ROZDEBA: The trial in the Bahamas ended in a mistrial.

HAMMER: Last November, Travolta emerged once again on Ellen DeGeneres` show and he thanked his fans for all the condolences his family received after Jett`s death.

JOHN TRAVOLTA, ACTOR: I just want to take one moment to thank each and every one of you, throughout this country and throughout the world, for all of your support and all of your love for our family. Thank you.

HAMMER: The Travoltas revealed the news they are expecting on the very same day we learned about another tragedy for the family. It was revealed earlier in the day that two of Travolta`s dogs were accidentally run over and killed by a service vehicle at a Maine airport soon after the Travolta family plane landed.

ROZDEBA: I mean, it just seems that headline after headline just focused on devastating occurrences that were happening with the Travoltas.

HAMMER: But now, word that the Travolta family is expecting a new member is reminding all of us how one can once again find joy in life after an unimaginable heartbreak.

ROZDEBA: There were so many tragic things that have been reported about this family. And to have this sort of news - it`s such a miracle and such fantastic news for the family.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: I`ve got to say, I really couldn`t be happier for the Travoltas. After so much tragedy in their lives, this is such great news.

Right now, in Hollywood, Tony Potts, who is the weekend co-host and correspondent for "Access Hollywood." In New York, right now, is Atty. Vikki Ziegler.

Tony, I want to start with you because I remember, just as I`m sure you do, just how heart-wrenching it was reporting on Jett`s tragic death. You spent a lot of time in the Bahamas covering the tragedy.

And now, here we are, just a year-and-a-half later, reporting this extraordinary news. What went through your mind today after you heard the confirmation that Kelly is indeed pregnant?

TONY POTTS, WEEKEND CO-HOST AND CORRESPONDENT, "ACCESS HOLLYWOOD": A.J., joy - pure joy. That`s something I`d like to call "heart shine." It`s when your heart just feels - when you hear news, something happens to you and your heart feels so just wonderful and wants to burst. That`s what I felt when I heard the news today.

You know, I`ve known John for more than a decade - he and his wife. He, as alluded to in your piece - he`s one of the sweetest guys you will ever meet. When you talk to John one-on-one, he`s like Bono. He makes you feel like you`re the only person, not in the room - on the planet.

And I could not be happier for them. They`ve had such tragedy and they are great parents, loving parents. I`m just over the moon for them.

HAMMER: Yes. It`s hard for anybody not to be over the moon for these guys.

POTTS: Yes.

HAMMER: Well, let`s move now from good news to some strange news. And this is more big news breaking today about our old friend, Lindsay Lohan. This is just mind-boggling.

All right. Lindsay, I`m telling you, get ready for jail, OK? Lindsay`s got this drop-dead date to appear on court on Thursday on her probation for her drunk-driving conviction.

But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT learned today that Lindsay, who is in Cannes, is claiming that her passport was stolen. No passport, no flight back to California. I personally think that the judge should throw Lindsay`s sorry butt in jail for this whole, you know, "dog ate my homework" story.

Vikki, what do you think? Should the judge give her a pass because she has no passport?

VIKKI ZIEGLER, ATTORNEY: I don`t know how many passes Lindsay Lohan is going to get. I think this judge is going to really be fed up with her. I think she can - we all know she can if believes she`s violated her probation, which it appears she may have the exact order. She could throw her in jail.

I don`t know what is going to get Lindsay to straighten up. If you`ve seen the pictures at her - of her at the Cannes Film Festival, she`s, you know, falling. She looks like she`s ingesting substance - not somebody that`s going to her meetings.

So I think that this judge may throw her in jail. I hope she doesn`t extend the time for her to finish her substance abuse classes. It will just perpetuate the Lindsay Lohan saga over and over again.

HAMMER: Yes. And what is so stark to me is the contrast between what Lindsay is claiming. She`s been saying, "Oh, I`m fine. There is nothing going on." But then, to pull a stunt like this, if in fact she pulled this stunt, you know, Tony, I want to say I`m surprised by this, but I`m really not. Are you at all buying this "my dog ate my passport" excuse?

POTTS: Here`s the thing - I don`t think somebody stole it, as much of a mess that her life is and we see it on a daily basis. There`s a lot of video that you and I both get, A.J., that we don`t show to other people they want to sell to us and we never put on the air.

She`s a mess. I actually believe that she may have lost it. Think about the mess that she`s in. I`ve been Cannes. I`ve been on the road. You can lose your passport.

You know, we just learned that - from friends earlier, about 10 minutes ago, that the consulate says that she has not applied for a new passport. So I actually think she may have just lost it and she has no clue where it is. But I agree, she does need help and rehab, I think, at this point, is the only answer.

HAMMER: Yes. I mean, I`m thinking, if you`re Lindsay Lohan and you`re going to make the stupid decision to go to France when you`re supposed to be in L.A. a couple days later to be at a court date that you must attend, you have somebody carry your passport for you if that what it takes.

ZIEGLER: Hey, where`s your commitment to trying to show -

HAMMER: Yes.

ZIEGLER: The judge that you want to get better. You want to fulfill the conditions, and you want to do the right thing. The key is to get off of probation and not prolong it. The judge already extended it one year after the three-year term in October of last year.

So what will Lindsay - who will get through to this girl? I just don`t know. I don`t see it in her future.

HAMMER: Well, you know -

POTTS: A.J. A.J., real quick.

HAMMER: Yes.

POTTS: Let me chime in. Here`s the thing, though. We`re talking rationally. I guarantee you if all three of us did heroin, OK, or coke, and came back in an hour, we would be saying stupid (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: Not suggesting, of course, Tony, that she`s doing anything.

(CROSSTALK)

POTTS: Exactly. Not at all.

HAMMER: Maybe it`s going to take her parents. I can tell you whether or not Lindsay shows, it`s going to be a circus. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is going to be right there at the courthouse.

Now, Lindsay`s estranged dad, Michael, has been hell-bent on getting her the rehab treatment that he thinks she needs. And he says he`s going to be there in court. Well, today, in a caught-on-tape interview with TMZ, Michael reveals he`s got a shocking new ally, his ex-wife, Dina. Look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So you`re going to recommend to the judge that she gets rehab instead of jail, by any means, right?

MICHAEL LOHAN, LINDSAY LOHAN`S FATHER: I`ve said enough. The judge knows how I feel. My lawyer, Lisa Bloom, has done an unbelievable job of expressing how I feel.

I was with Dina tonight at a meeting. And Dina and I have - we actually hugged and said good-bye at the end of the meeting and put our differences behind us. And I can`t tell (UNINTELLIGIBLE). Dina is on board. She`s on board.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Dina is on board. Michael is on board. Not exactly hell freezing over, but pretty close. Vikki, what do you think? With the two of them finally joining forces, could this save Lindsay`s butt?

ZIEGLER: I hope so. I really do, coming from a divorced family as Lindsay has. She`s had so many problems. You need your support system. You need them to reunite together.

But most importantly, Lindsay has to want to get sober and help herself. You could have 100 people supporting you. Unless you look in the mirror and say, "I have a problem and I`m committed," really committed, not just a canned speech that she`s committed to really making an improvement in her life. That`s what she needs.

HAMMER: Yes. Yes. At the risk of repeating myself again, if she does need help, man, I hope she gets it and soon. Tony Potts, Vikki Ziegler, thanks, guys. I appreciate it.

All right. I think Jesse James is just unbelievable. He cheats on Sandra Bullock. And now, Jesse`s brand-new revelation today - he thinks he can convince Sandra to get back together with him. Really? The unbelievable new steps Jesse is taking to try to make that happen.

Jennifer Hudson just looks great. She lost a bunch of weight. But why she did it is just shocking today. It`s J. Hud`s startling weight loss confessions about how she was forced to slim down.

And you`ve got to take a look at - that`s Jennifer Aniston`s brand-new abs. Yes. Wow, right? Why is Jen showing off her stomach and getting paid it do it? We are going to reveal the whole picture. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN, news and views.

Now, it`s the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ELLEN DEGENERES, HOST, "THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW": So is this a new haircut? I haven`t seen you in a while, but is this brand new?

ROBERT PATTINSON, ACTOR: Yes. I think it`s three days old.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

We have got you covered all the way in Cannes. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson has been right there at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. Now, there`s some big films with the big stars that premiered at Cannes, like Russell Crowe`s "Robin Hood."

But what about the little guys, the wild, the wacky? Brooke, joins us now with a revealing look at some of these movies at Cannes this year.

BROOKE ANDERSON, CO-HOST: A.J., Cannes screams glamour and sophistication. But there`s an underbelly to the festival that not many are familiar with. It`s a gigantic trade show featuring films with titles like "Dancing Ninjas," starring David Hasselhoff, "Mega Shark 2," and countless others straight video titles all bidding for distribution. Let`s take a tour of this marketplace of cheese.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(on camera): I want to tell you about a little-known secret her in Cannes. While the film festival is under way, there`s an entire market of thousands of movies of every description being bought and sold here in what is called the Marche du Film. Let`s go inside and take a look around.

Bollywood is well-represented here at the Marche. Sylvester Stallone even goes Bollywood. Looks like he`s got an issue with that parking meter. That`s quite a penalty for a tardy DVD return.

There`s Zach Galifianakis(ph) - you know who he is. That`s the guy from "The Hangover." And this is "Zebra Man 2," in case you missed "Zebra Man 1." Looks like Godzilla made a cameo in "Death Kappa." Let`s see what is in this booth. How many movies have you sold so far?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Two.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We`ll sell our whole library here but we have a big film called "Caught in the Cross Fire" with 50 Cents and Chris Klein and that`s a big seller here.

ANDERSON: Sometimes, what sells these movies are the tag lines, and they are classic. "Never trust a corpse" - oh, that`s sound advice. This place is a little bit scandalous. Sex definitely sells. Check out "Sin Sisters 2." I think we know what`s that about.

The Hoff is in the house in "Dancing Ninja." What`s a film market without the Hoff?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I was in that movie right over there.

ANDERSON: Which one?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: "Six Guns."

ANDERSON: Congratulations.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Thank you very much.

ANDERSON: "Mega Shark Versus Giganotosaurus." That`s a follow-up to "Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus."

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think that people love giant seafood and that is why people want to see as many movies about them as they can.

ANDERSON: "Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac" - unforgettable. Well, I`d love to stick around but there`s so many movie screenings to attend - "Zebra Man 2," screening today. I`ve got a movie to catch.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

A.J., all kidding aside, this is big business. Millions and millions of dollars are at stake. And though we may never see "Mega Shark Versus Giganotosaurus" in the U.S., Japan will for mega bucks. Back over to you.

HAMMER: I`m going to look for it. That is Brooke Anderson coming to us from the Cannes Film Festival - thanks, Brooke - hanging out in the south of France.

Well, we have a lot going on today with debates on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook wall all over that Miss USA controversy. Now, some people actually think she won because she is Muslim. They`re claiming an affirmative action kind of deal here.

Lillie T. thinks that the pageant was rigged, saying, "She`s an Arab Muslim. I`m sure they chose her on purpose to create controversy and have people talking about like we`re doing now."

And the "Showbiz on Call" phone lines are ringing nonstop about this today. Now, Anita, who is calling in from California thinks the whole idea that Rima Fakih was chosen because she`s Muslim is nonsense.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

CALLER: All the backlash about the Miss USA - I think it`s crazy. She`s beautiful. She`s talented, and she`s American, regardless of her heritage. So I say, leave her alone to celebrate.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: I`m with you, Anita. Thanks for your call. You can call us at "Showbiz on Call" and sound off on this or anything else. The "Showbiz on Call" phone lines are open all the time at this number - 1-888-SBT-BUZZ; 1- 888-728-2899. Leave us a voicemail. We`re playing your calls right here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

I personally don`t think Sandra Bullock should take Jesse James back. He cheated on her, surely left her humiliated. But I can tell you Jesse actually still thinks that he`s got a shot. He`s even taking a dramatic new step today to get close to Sandra.

HAMMER: Lady Gaga is the number one music star on the planet. So why is she applying for an internship?

A lot of people think I`ve got a pretty cool job. But check out this guy. He is a tanning butler. The dude is getting paid for rubbing lotion on beach bodies.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JOHN ZARRELLA, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): When you hear hands on job, this one beats all.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Would you mind if I just apply a little bit here?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: OK.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Where do I sign up for this? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: "Glee" creator invites Susan Boyle on the show to guest star as a lunch lady. "Real Housewives of New York" star Bethenny Frankel unveils pictures of new daughter.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Now, "Sex and the City 2" stars. Cynthia Nixon`s incredible same- sex marriage battle. I`m one-on-one with all the "Sex and the City 2" stars this week.

Today, my revealing interview with Cynthia Nixon. Of course, Cynthia plays legal hot shot, Miranda. And Cynthia is really fired up over the gay marriage legal battle. Cynthia is engaged to her partner, Christine. She proudly showed the spectacular engagement ring when we sat down to talk. And Cynthia told me she is fighting all the way for gay marriage.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CYNTHIA NIXON, ACTRESS: We`re really fighting hard to do everything that we can to make it legal in New York.

HAMMER (on camera): In your heart of hearts?

NIXON: Yes.

HAMMER: Cynthia, when is that coming? I mean, do you feel it`s soon. I know it`s still an uphill battle.

NIXON: I feel it`s soon. I feel it`s soon. And I feel like the legislature has to catch up with the people of New York. Because when you poll the people of New York, the majority of them say, absolutely, same-sex marriage - absolutely, should be legal.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And Cynthia also sounded off about that controversial "Newsweek" article which claims some gay actors can`t play straight roles.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

NIXON: There`s some gay actors in Hollywood pretending to be straight characters as long as there`s been Hollywood. And a lot of them have done a tremendous job.

HAMMER: Yes.

NIXON: Nobody complains about - when straight actors play gay characters, that they are not convincing. I mean, that`s who you are. You`re an actor. You take on another persona that you might have things in common with and you may not have things in common with.

And I think at a time when really people are starting to really come out like never before, I think it`s such a damaging thing.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And Cynthia, I totally agree with you. Congratulations, by the way, on your engagement. We at SHOWBIZ TONIGHT wish you well. Make sure you check out "Sex and the City 2" when it opens nationwide on May 27th.

All right. Lots of you are posting on our Facebook wall today all about Charlie Sheen reportedly signing a deal to get up to $2 million per episode for "Two and a Half Men."

Selina C. says hey, that`s show business, "Look, I agree what Charlie Sheen has done in the past is, well, yes. But his acting show and ratings are through the roof."

But Michele M. thinks that Charlie`s big payday is just disgusting writing, "So Charlie Sheen, who has been in trouble his whole life, makes out like a bandit? I won`t watch anything with him in it."

We`d love for you to join the debate on Facebook or go behind the scenes of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on Twitter. You can call us at "Showbiz on Call" and there`s always E-mail. It`s all at "Showbiz Connects" which you`ll find at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It`s 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City with big news breaking today - Jesse`s big regrets.

Just as Sandra Bullock celebrates life with her new baby Louis, there is breaking news about Jesse James wallowing in self-pity. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT obtained today an advanced copy of the new issue of "People" magazine.

And there are absolutely stunning revelations in it about how Jesse is doing everything he can to try to get Sandra back in his life.

Right now, in New York, David Caplan, who is a senior editor for "People" magazine, and the brand-new issue of "People" will be on newsstands Friday. Right now, from Hollywood, Tanika Ray, who is an entertainment journalist.

So we all know Sandra Bullock filed for divorce because of Jesse`s cheating and, by all accounts, she`s moved on. But Jesse James apparently not finished yet. We learned today he wants Sandra back.

"People" magazine quotes one person close to Jesse as saying this, "He is feeling stronger but obviously very sad for the situation still at hand. He hasn`t given up hope that he can fix things. This thinking is what gets Jesse through the day."

Good for him. David Caplan, I don`t think Jesse has a shot at getting Sandra back. Do you think he`s being unrealistic?

DAVID CAPLAN, SENIOR EDITOR, "PEOPLE" MAGAZINE: He probably is being a little bit unrealistic. And we can just really make that by seeing what Sandra has been doing. While Jesse says that, you know, he hasn`t given up hope.

And in fact, a friend of his tells "People" that that sort of thinking, that he can one day win Sandra back, is really what gets him through the day.

But however, if you look at what Sandra is doing, she`s really moving on with her life. She`s, you know, spending lots of time with Louis. She was in Austin. She`s been New Orleans.

She`s not looking back. And you know, they are really having not much contact between them. So I think it`s more wishful thinking on his part.

HAMMER: Well, "People" is also reporting that another friend close to Jesse says that Jesse feels like a fool for wrecking his marriage the way that he did. Well, yes, a fool.

TANIKA RAY, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: Duh!

HAMMER: That sounds pretty much right. Tanika, what do you think? Any shot that he`ll get Sandra back? I mean, come on.

RAY: Come on, you don`t publicly humiliate America`s sweetheart. I hope there`s no chance. But here`s the thing. Guys that cheat on their wives with the sleaze patrol are often delusional. So it`s up to the woman to give him a reality check.

I hope Sandra says no, no, and hell no. But if there is a chance, he`s going to have to pay for it in either diamonds or maybe cleaning her house or taking out the trash. He has some public service to do here.

HAMMER: Yes.

RAY: And I just hope when it all comes down to it, he`s learned his lesson and Sandra has gone down one way and he has gone down the sleaze patrol pathway forever more.

HAMMER: You know, you make a great point. And because she is America`s sweetheart, maybe he should take out everybody in America`s trash. I`m just saying.

RAY: Yes!

HAMMER: And another revelation today. "People" is reporting that Jesse made an offer to buy a house in Austin, Texas. As David mentioned, that`s where Sandra has been spending time with her adopted baby Louis.

RAY: Yes.

HAMMER: Now, "People" quotes a friend of Jesse`s saying this, "Jesse feels that as time goes by, his and Sandra`s relationship has still not reached the final chapter. He is not giving up hope that Sandra will come back to her family. Everyone knows that when the time is right, Jesse will try to get Sandra to come home."

Now, David, based on what you guys have learned at "People" magazine, are Sandra and Jesse even in contact with each other these days?

CAPLAN: They are in minimal contact. That`s what a source tells "People." And of course, really, what`s driving this contact essentially is both their love of the kids. That`s really what they are in contact with.

And it is interesting, as you mentioned, you know, a source tells "People" that Jesse has actually put in an offer for a home in Austin. So that`s really going to be interesting how that plays out with both of them spending so much time in the same city. It`s not even, you know, a huge city.

HAMMER: Yes.

CAPLAN: So it will be interesting.

HAMMER: It`s a great city. And hopefully, whatever is best for the kids - that`s terrific. Them actually getting back together - we`re not seeing it. I think we`re all in agreement.

RAY: No.

HAMMER: All right. Let`s now move on to another big story that`s breaking today involving a star couple in trouble. Brand-new reports that Halle Berry`s ex, Gabriel Aubry, actually wants permanent custody of their two- year-old daughter.

Now, Halle is reportedly moving to South Africa for three months. She`s shooting a movie over there this summer. Gabriel, apparently and understandably, not happy about his daughter being so far away. And now, apparently, he`s checking out his legal options.

Tanika, these guys were never married. I hope it doesn`t happen but do you see this possibly becoming one of those ugly Hollywood custody battles?

RAY: It could actually turn into something really ugly. But here`s the thing. Fathers have no right unless they are married and this is something men should take note on. If you have a baby with somebody, marry them.

I don`t know what the problem is. At least, you`ll have rights. Unfortunately, she`s moving to South Africa. And if he wants to see the baby, he needs to go to South Africa with her, which is what I am hearing now.

But unfortunately, she`s kind of publicly humiliated him, telling the world - we`re hearing two sources - that he didn`t pull his financial weight. I don`t think there`s anything more emasculating for a man.

So if he does want to see his child and go to South Africa and spend time with them, he`s going to have to spend time with Halle. And I can imagine that`s going to be a fun trip for him outside of spending time with -

HAMMER: Yes.

RAY: Gorgeous, adorable little Nala.

HAMMER: And unfortunately, this really goes against what we were hearing, you know, months ago when they first broke up. Halle and Gabriel seemed to really have an amicable breakup at that time. David, from what we know about them, do you see this getting ugly?

CAPLAN: It could definitely get ugly, however. She is someone who really likes to keep her sort of private life private. She does not want to have a whole custody battle out there in front of everyone.

RAY: Yes.

CAPLAN: Despite, you know, these unnamed sources are saying, she doesn`t want to. I think it definitely will get worked out. But you are right. It did start off in this tone right afterwards. Oh, it`s amicable and everything was great.

And now, you`re hearing a little bit of sort of, you know, friction there. But they`re both going to work it out. They don`t want to play it out in the public.

HAMMER: Yes. I don`t know him. I like her a whole heck of a lot. I do hope it goes smoothly and doesn`t become one of those ugly things that we`ve had to talk about right here in the past.

Let`s move on now to the latest in the Miss USA pole-dancing photo controversy. Miss USA, Rima Fakih, broke her silence today for the very first time about these controversial pole-dancing photos.

Now, these pictures from 2007 surfaced on the Internet the day after she won her crown on Sunday. The guy that put them up there was actually doing it in a congratulatory way, believe it or not.

Well, on the "Today" show this morning, Fakih said it`s all much ado about nothing. Roll it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RIMA FAKIH, MISS USA 2010: I just want to make it clear. It is not a Super Bowl contest. It was actually a promotional that my friend, who is a D.J. at a radio station had for women.

It collected about hundreds and hundreds of cute women. And they teach you how to dance and be sexy and feel - it was actually involving doctors and lawyers, everyone in Detroit.

And so I got up there to help them support and get the party started to tell women, "Hey, you know what? Hop up here and show them what you learned today." I do want to say that it`s not what you see. Don`t let that get to you. I didn`t do anything wrong.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I`ve got to tell you, watching her right there, I love her energy. I`m not talking about the energy in the pictures that we`re seeing. I just like her.

Tanika, now that she is out there and she is speaking for herself, setting the record straight, do you see all this going away?

RAY: I do. I don`t think it`s a big deal. Look, this competition is not one about the brains. It`s a beauty competition. And if you watch the tape of this competition over and over, these girls said the silliest, stupidest things.

This is like par for the course. It`s a beauty contest. And no, it wasn`t a stripper contest. It was just a contest on a stripper pole. There`s a big difference there, by the way. I think she`s adorable and she`s known for her beauty. It`s not a big deal. It will go away and will probably pay off financially down the road.

HAMMER: Yes -

RAY: And she`s basically wearing the equivalent of a Hooter`s burka. She has so many clothes on in that picture.

HAMMER: Yes. Tanika, it`s going to go away much to the chagrin of pageant owner Donald Trump who loves the fact that we are sitting here talking about it. David, what do you think? Now, that Rima Fakih is out there saying, this is no big deal. Do you see this all being put to rest?

CAPLAN: Yes. I think it will definitely going away. And I think, you know, following last year`s whole Carrie Prejean thing, there`s almost fete fatigue with sort of these, you know, beauty scandals (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

HAMMER: All right. David Caplan, Tanika Ray, as always, I so appreciate you guys being here today. Moving on now to the brand-new connection today between Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Hudson.

Obviously, they are both supporting smoking hot bods these days. We have new revelations today on why Jennifer Hudson may actually have been forced to lose weight to get her smoking body. You`ve got to see this.

And don`t adjust your sets. That is Jennifer Aniston. Those are her abs. Jennifer showing them off and getting paid to do it. Wait until we reveal the entire picture.

Plus, I know what both Jennifers really need to keep their hot bods glowing. They need a tanning butler.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m the world`s only tanning butler here. All right. SPF 8 already. Here we go.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Right now, in "The Buzz" today, Jennifer Aniston, showing off her absolutely amazing new body. Plus, Lady Gaga becoming an intern. There is big news breaking in "The Buzz" today. What is Gaga up to now?

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over): Lady Gaga, an intern? Well, according to "U.K. Vogue," Gaga has applied for an internship with U.K. head designer, Philip Treacy. Treacy has created a bunch of Gaga`s funky hats and Gaga wants to learn to create her own.

(MUSIC PLAYING)

No word yet if the "Telephone" singer`s intern duties will include answering the telephone.

Justin Bieber is up for a BET award. The 16-year-old mega star singer has been nominated in the best-new artist category. That`s why I drink Smart. It`s hydration I can feel and it`s one part of my routine that I never sweat." Whatever Jen`s doing, she looks great.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: I mean, Jennifer Aniston just looks super. And I think Jennifer Hudson looks fantastic. Check out J. Hud right here on the cover of the new issue of "People" magazine just released today.

The new mom dropped a whopping five dress sizes and she`s making a startling confession about exactly why she did it.

Joining me right now in New York is David Caplan - he`s a senior editor from "People" magazine. In Hollywood, Tanika Ray, who is an entertainment journalist.

So in this bombshell interview revealed today, Jennifer Aniston (sic) says, "I`m in the best shape of my life. Whatever it takes to morph into the character, I`ll do it. I wasn`t going starve myself for anyone."

Now, the character she`s talking about here is Winnie Mandela. She`s playing Winnie in a new movie. In fact, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson was with Jennifer Hudson right there at the Cannes Film Festival this week. That`s where Hudson officially announced the movie.

The Jennifer reveals the reason she shed all of that weight in the first place, it was because the director of the film insisted she lose the weight and apparently he had to ask her three times to do it.

Tanika, is there anything wrong with that? I mean, it`s just part of the gig, right?

RAY: It`s so part of the gig. You know, sometimes, you get a producer or a director that asks you nicely and sometimes they are overt and obnoxious about it. I don`t know which one Jennifer had.

But she`s playing a real life character. And Winnie Mandela is a certain size, so she had to lose weight for it. That`s part of the gig, sister. Apparently, she succeeded. So she looks great.

HAMMER: That`s what the paycheck is for. All right. Can we put up this before and after picture we did, Charles? This is a picture of Jennifer on the left there when she`s a size 16 and on the right, it`s now at a size 6.

RAY: That`s not 16. No way that`s a 16. No way.

HAMMER: All right. That`s what they are telling me here.

RAY: She looks great.

HAMMER: David Caplan, off to you. What did she reveal to you and to "People" magazine about the secret she had to losing all of that weight? Because, you know, it`s always tough for anybody.

CAPLAN: Yes. You know, interestingly enough, Jennifer tells "People" that she really wasn`t, quote, "fazed" by the request, actually. However, when we spoke with the director of the movie, he actually told us that she still wanted to set up some limits, being like, "All right, you know, I`m going to do this. You know, you`ve asked me three times but I can`t guarantee anything."

So she was a little trepidatious (ph) at the beginning. But in fact, you know what? She even tells us, though, that about four days after she gave birth to her child, she was already on that treadmill working out about 30 minutes a day or so.

But it wasn`t until she teamed up with Harley Pasternak, who is a celeb trainer, who`s worked with people like Jessica Simpson, that she really - we`re talking five days a week, intense cardio for 25 minutes.

HAMMER: Wow.

CAPLAN: And then, by January, she also enrolled in with Weight Watchers to be their celebrity spokesperson. So it`s pretty amazing. You know, she really did it in a tempered way and it wasn`t sort of a frenetic for her to lose weight.

HAMMER: Yes. Good for her.

CAPLAN: She did it, you know, gradually and it worked.

HAMMER: Yes. Very committed obviously. And one thing, I think, we all know about Jennifer Hudson, she`s always been very comfortable in her own skin no matter what the size.

RAY: Yes.

HAMMER: All right. Lets move on to another star who, like Jennifer Hudson, is also in Cannes. Now, in my mind, this star should be working on pulling his foot out of his mouth right about now. I`m talking about Shia LaBeouf.

He starred, of course, in "Transformers" and the sequel. And then he bashed the sequel. Now, he`s bad-mouthing the great Steven Spielberg. Spielberg, of course, directed Shia and Harrison Ford in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

Well, Shia told reporters that he thinks Spielberg is among those who dropped the ball on this movie saying, "I`ll probably get a call, but he needs to hear this. I love him. I love Steven. I have a relationship with Steven that supersedes our business work. I`ve talked to him often enough to know that I`m not out of line. But when you drop the ball, you drop the ball."

Wow, I`m thinking Shia LaBeouf, who is all of 23 years old right now is out of his mind to be slamming Steven Spielberg in public. Pick up the phone and call him. Tanika, is this nuts?

RAY: You know, it is crazy, but I love him for that. An actor actually speaking his mind. Who knew? That`s like kudos to you, Shia, for actually being honest. He obviously feels that way.

And it sounds like he`s had prior conversations with Steven Spielberg about it so he feels like he`s brave enough to say something.

HAMMER: Yes.

RAY: I admire it. I respect it. More actors need to speak up and be honest and speak from their hearts.

(CROSSTALK)

HAMMER: All right. Check this out. The ladies of "The View" got into it today. Whoopi Goldberg had a big issue with Shia. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": If he had an issue with Steven, he needed to call Steven. It`s rude. It`s rude. The guy gave you a job, OK? And jobs are hard to come by.

JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": He`ll find out soon.

HAMMER: I`m right there with you, Whoopi. David Caplan, Tanika Ray, thanks, guys. As we move on tonight, the butler did it. The tanning butler, that is. Yes. Now, there are no more excuses for not wearing sun block.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ZARRELLA: When you hear hands-on job, this one beats all.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Would you mind if I just apply a little bit here?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: OK.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Watch your hands there, guy. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views. Let`s roll out the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker." Here come more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: Conan`s date! TBS announces Conan O`Brien`s new show will launch November 8th. Vanessa Williams joins cast of "Desperate Housewives."

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Yes, thank you, Charles "Spray Tan" Wagman. All right. I want to tell you about what could possibly be the best gig ever today. Say you`re walking around the beach and someone is over there and you see that they have a killer tan.

You ask them, "How did you get that killer tan?" They may tell you, "The butter did it." Yes, the butler as in the tanning butler, the person actually responsible for rubbing you down with sun tan lotion. Now, this is a 100 percent totally real job. Everybody`s clearly excited.

Here`s CNN`s John Zarrella for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ZARRELLA (voice-over): When you hear hands-on job, this one beats all.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Would you mind if I just apply a little bit here?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: OK.

ZARRELLA: It is literally just that. Hands-on.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: All right. SPF 8 already. Here we go.

ZARRELLA: Zach Gilbert has what a lot of folks would say is the perfect job. He`s a tanning butler. Yes, you heard me, a tanning butler at the Ritz-Carlton on South Beach.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m the world`s only tanning butler here.

ZARRELLA: Where else but South Beach would you expect to find a guy in shorts walking around with a pouch filled with tanning products, spritzing, and rubbing lotion on the guests.

ZARRELLA (on-camera): So, you`d invite him back?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Sure, if my husband is OK with it.

ZARRELLA: And you`re outside, I mean, this is your office?

ZACH GILBERT, FILL-IN TANNING BUTLER: It is. It`s a great setting. It`s a great setting and the complaints are minimal.

ZARRELLA (voice-over): So, what could possibly be the problem? Well, Zach has another job at the hotel. He was just standing in while the Ritz looked for a new permanent butler. The last one got some modeling gig and took off. To fill the SPF void, the Ritz held a casting call.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: If we were guests, how would you approach us?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Definitely I say that you are looking very beautiful today.

LORI LAQUATRA, TRAINING BUTLER JUDGE: We`re looking for great personality. We`re looking for someone who can interact with the guests.

ZARRELLA: And someone who just maybe knows what the acronym stands for.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So, what exactly an SPF means?

ZARRELLA: Holding a handful of applicants showed up at the first audition, only one, Luz Gallego, had any experience.

LUZ GALLEGO, TRAINING BUTLER APPLICANT: I have done this kind of job before, but instead of using tanning cloths (ph), I have used mud.

ZARRELLA: Mud?

GALLEGO: On people. Yes.

ZARRELLA: Mud?

GALLEGO: Yes.

ZARRELLA: That would block out the sun, wouldn`t it?

GALLEGO: People love it.

ZARRELLA: The judges settled on a college student from Miami. He`ll make $20 an hour plus tips. And our boy, Zach -

GILBERT: Good afternoon, ladies. How are you today?

ZARRELLA: He went back to his old job of waiter at the restaurant. Why? I haven`t a clue.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Excellent. Sounds like that guy got burned. Is this a great country or what? You can actually get paid for putting suntan lotion on people. I`m actually surprised that The Situation from "Jersey Shore" didn`t apply for the gig. Thank you to CNN`s John Zarrella for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT his excellent reporting.
