SHOWBIZ TONIGHT investigates the flood of scandals hitting Hollywood. Tiger`s cheating.

TIGER WOODS, PROFESSIONAL GOLFER: I am deeply sorry for irresponsible and selfish behavior.

HAMMER: Charlie`s alleged abuse.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Charlie looks forward to the trial to clear his name.

HAMMER: Stars and drugs.

MACKENZIE PHILLIPS, ACTRESS, ON GETTING PRESCRIPTION DRUGS FROM DOCTORS: I`ve been to doctors who`d never even touched my body or took my blood pressure. And I walked out with a prescription of 130, you know, hydrocodone tablets.

HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT asks the controversial question -- can scandals actually help stars` careers?

Sandra Bullock`s shocking secrets. Her amazing adoption. How did she keep it a secret right in the middle of her husband`s cheating scandal?

And mistress scandal. The mistress reality show. Our explosive one-on- one with the host of a show featuring celebrity mistresses.

It`s the exclusive headline-making interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. A special edition of TV`s most provocative entertainment news show, "Stars and Scandal," starts right now.

Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer, coming to you from New York City. This is a special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Stars and Scandal."

Forget about outrageous TV plots or films that are too risque for an R rating, now the stars themselves are actually giving Hollywood writers a run for their money with their too-wild-to-be-made up, off screen scandals.

I mean think about it. Tiger Woods and his mistress mayhem. Charlie Sheen and his domestic drama and certainly don`t forget about Sandra Bullock`s cheating husband, Jesse James.

Yes, these days, star scandals are almost a required part of the celebrity lifestyle. But could it really be that these explosive controversies actually help starts, pushing them into a whole new level of fame that even their celebrity big bucks couldn`t buy?

Right now, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT investigates "Stars and Scandal." Here`s SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

KAREEN WYNTER, CNN ENTERTAINMENT CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): A public apology from an A-list athlete.

WOODS: I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behavior.

WYNTER: A public denial from the publicist of an A-list actor.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Charlie looks forward to the trial to clear his name.

WYNTER: And a public outburst from the estranged husband of an A-list actress.

Tiger Woods, Charlie Sheen, and Sandra Bullock`s soon-to-be ex-husband Jesse James have all been waging personal battles under highly public scrutiny in recent months.

Who stands the best chance of surviving the media madness surrounding their super size scandals?

Take a lesson from Jessie`s former lady.

HOWARD BRAGMAN, CELEBRITY PUBLICIST: Sandra Bullock just hold a textbook example of how to turn a scandal into your favor. Not only was she the most sympathetic a couple of weeks ago when she ended up on the cover on "People" magazine. If you talk about changing the conversation in a positive way, then she hit is out of the park.

WYNTER: Bragman is a celebrity publicist and expert on fame and crisis management. He says there`s a right way and a wrong way to handle a scandal.

BRAGMAN: The right way is to take a beat and figure out, is this just a controversy or is this a true crisis? Like any doctor, a spin doctor has to take the pulse. And we have to go in and say, how bad is it or sometimes it`s just so bad that you say, we have to get in front of this story.

What you don`t want to do is let the story spiral out of control.

WYNTER (on camera): And with so many recent allegations of celebrity infidelity, abuse and addiction, these days it seems A-listers playing that real life dramatic role, leaving some to ask, does it take a scandal to make it here in Hollywood?

BEN WIDDICOMBE, CELEBRITY JOURNALIST: In public life, a scandal really is a baptism requirement. Many people say you haven`t really made it until you have the big scandals. You have the tabloids coming after you and how you survived and how you developed in that kind of situation tells you a lot about how long-lived your career may be.

WYNTER (voice-over): Celebrity journalist Ben Widdicombe has seen it all when it comes to the rise and fall of scandal ridden stars. As a former gossip columnist, he spent years digging up dirt on Hollywood`s elite and says in some cases a crisis may actually help a star shoot higher.

WIDDICOMBE: It hardly needs to be said. The good news doesn`t sell magazines. The public wants to relate to these beautiful wealthy people and as a human that`s just like them with troubles.

WYNTER: So why do some celebrity scandals, like Winona Ryder`s shoplifting case --

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We the jury find the defendant Winona Ryder guilty of the crime of grand theft.

WYNTER: -- seems to have banished them to the D-list while others like Alec Baldwin`s voicemail tirade to his daughter --

ALEX BALDWIN, ACTOR: You are a rude, selfish little pig.

WYNTER: -- seem to pass without killing the star`s career. Perhaps, as our industry vets suggest, the secret to surviving it all was in the spin.

WIDDICOMBE: It`s very important to get out ahead of the spin and who -- not be reacting for someone else`s headlines, but to be driving the headlines yourself.

BRAGMAN: It`s really how you handle it. And you need to get smart people on your team. You need to listen.

WYNTER: Celebrity scandal 101 for the next Tiger, Charlie or Jesse.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: So will some stars` off-screen scandals kill their careers or could they actually end up on top?

Right now in Hollywood Ken Baker is E!`s chief news correspondent, also right now in Hollywood, Shaun Robinson who`s the weekend co-host and correspondent for "Access Hollywood."

So when I think of stars surviving scandals, really, the first guy who comes to mind for me is Charlie Sheen. I mean this guy re-upped with "Two and A Half Men" reportedly making more than a million bucks per episode.

Shaun, to you first, I`m thinking a lot of people see that and say, hey, how do I get a job like that? Scandal can be good.

SHAUN ROBINSON, WEEKEND CO-HOST, "ACCESS HOLLYWOOD": A.J., there is no such thing. I want everybody to understand this. There is no such thing as bad publicity. Look, I think Charlie Sheen is very talented and I think the people -- reason people watch "Two and A Half Men" is because it`s funny. Because I think that a lot of people are willing to forgive celebrities` certain screw-ups because they know that there`s a whole business made on celebrities doing bad things.

We know that, you know, you can get your own reality show if you have done -- if you`ve had a screw-up. You can -- you know, there are -- there`s much money to be made off pictures of celebrities falling out of cars with no underwear on.

I mean this is a big business. So I think a lot of people are willing to forgive it.

HAMMER: Yes, which is perhaps why we see so many stars doing so many bad things. And for better or worse, some people say, you know, you really haven`t made it in Hollywood until you`re involved in a big scandal.

Ken, I`m not sure that`s exactly true. But what do you think?

KEN BAKER, CHIEF NEWS CORRESPONDENT, E!: Well, I think that Shaun is right in that it is a big business that a lot of celebrities can parlay it into a positive thing. But I disagree that there`s no such thing as bad publicity.

Just talk to Tiger Woods. This guy has left hundreds -- potentially hundreds of millions of dollars on the table because of his bad behavior and there`s really no argument to be made that this is in any way, shape, or form a positive thing for him.

However, it has made the careers -- scandals have made the careers of many people. Paris Hilton, her sex tape scandal. I think what it comes down to is that we ascertain like legal issues, legal scandal that could land people in jail. That`s when a scandal turns to a very dark place where it`s really hard for people to recover from that.

HAMMER: Shaun, what do you think about the idea that --

ROBINSON: Can I just jump in here --

HAMMER: Go ahead.

ROBINSON: A.J., let me just jump in just one minute. I agree with Ken, although when I think it`s too soon to find out if Tiger is really going to make a comeback. Look, this scandal -- Tiger scandal just happened on Thanksgiving day. Where will Tiger be three year, four years from now? I assume making a lot more money than any of us.

HAMMER: Well, let`s talk about one of the areas where I think Tiger got into trouble, because this is something I don`t get. There are some stars who come right out right away when a scandal breaks. They make their apology and then they move on.

That is a formula that, for the most part, seems to have worked. But then you have people like Tiger Woods. They hide in the shadows for what I think is just way too long.

Ken, I don`t get why somebody like Tiger doesn`t learn that lesson.

BAKER: Well, I think in the set-up piece your experts said that the best thing is to basically get out ahead of the story. But if you`re getting out ahead of the story and you have very embarrassing, damaging things that you have to admit and you`re not ready to do that, you`re not going to get ahead.

In this day and age, when a celebrity doesn`t come out and address the issues, it`s basically looked at in the public eye as guilt. And I think that`s probably where Tiger failed and where other stars who`ve stepped up, admitted mistakes, and tried to move on. It`s really worked effectively for them.

HAMMER: Yes, Shaun, very quickly. Why do you think some stars haven`t learned the lesson that you`ve got to get out there right away?

ROBINSON: Because I think many of them have folks around them who tell them, we can control this. And if we don`t say anything, we`re the ones calling the shots. And when you wait too long, just like Ken said, you have other people who are putting so many false rumors out there --

HAMMER: Right.

ROBINSON: -- then now you`re playing catch-up.

HAMMER: Yes.

ROBINSON: So I think that`s the problem that a lot of --

HAMMER: Scares them away.

ROBINSON: I agree. That Tiger Woods waited a long time before he said anything.

HAMMER: Shaun Robinson, Ken Baker, I do appreciate. Thanks so much.

Well, Sandra Bullock has really dealt with more than her share of scandals with her husband`s cheating. It`s been all out there in the open. But how about Sandra`s shocking secrets? How did Sandra keep the adoption of her baby such a big secret?

The host of a new celebrity mistress TV show featuring one of Tiger Woods` alleged mistresses. It`s the exclusive interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MICHELLE HARRIS, HOST OF CELEBRITY MISTRESS SHOW: I don`t really think the mistresses have destroyed a home. They have been lied to. Again, we`re blaming the women when we should be blaming these men.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And when there`s Hollywood scandal, there`s often drugs. It is one of the Hollywood`s dirty little secrets. You have stars shopping for doctors to write them dangerous prescriptions. This is more common than you think.

This is a special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. "Stars and Scandals" on HLN. News and views.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to the special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Stars and Scandal." I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

Right now Kevin Federline`s Britney`s confession. A Britney Spears divorce turned into a big weight battle for her ex. K-Fed`s difficult split from Britney back in 2006 really sent him into a tailspin.

Well, now K-Fed reveals to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson how his relationship with Britney is now and how his weight gain was partly due to getting over that painful breakup.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

BROOKE ANDERSON, CNN ENTERTAINMENT CORRESPONDENT: You`ve been very opened that it was kind of a depression that you felt after your divorce from Britney Spears that initiated this weight gain.

KEVIN FEDERLINE, BRITNEY SPEARS` FORMER HUSBAND: I wouldn`t blame it all on that. I would say that`s just part of it. You know, I was hitting 30s, slowing down your metabolism, not doing anything, being lazy and comfortable. It was just a number of things that just added up and they started adding up on my gut.

ANDERSON: Well, you know, we talked about this before. I interviewed you back in 2006. I was actually the last interview you did. It was for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. You were promoting your debut album, "Playing with Fire." It was the last interview that you did before Britney filed for divorce.

I want to take a look at what you said about your relationship with Britney.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

FEDERLINE: We work together with everything so it`s -- she does what a wife does for a husband and I do what a husband does for a wife. I mean, you know, if I really -- if I am ever down, which is very rare, very, very rare, you know, I mean, she will talk, you know. She`s the only one that I can really go to that understands any of it.

ANDERSON: So you`re best friends as well?

FEDERLINE: Definitely.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Now when you look back at that time, can you ever have imagined that your life would have changed so much from then to where you are now?

FEDERLINE: No. I never would have thought, you know, I mean, all -- everything that happened was kind of a whirlwind, you know, from that point on. I don`t -- you know, it`s amazing to even hear myself, you know, back then and going through what I had to go through after that. I mean, we just -- you know, it was a shock to me.

ANDERSON: And after all of that, then you had to watch her go through a tremendously difficult time, spiraling out of control, shaving the head, the partying, her estate had to be under the control of her father.

How hard was that for you to watch her, someone you loved dearly, go through it in the public eye because it was everywhere?

FEDERLINE: It was -- it was tough. It really was. It was really, really tough. I don`t know how deep into that I`ll go, but for -- I mean for anybody I think would be tough. You know, and I mean it`s a sad situation. But we had to go through that to get to where we are today which is -- I`m happy.

ANDERSON: What`s your relationship like now?

FEDERLINE: It`s good. I mean I don`t -- I can`t say that I see her all the time, but I mean we`re very cordial to each other. I mean we talk and we do everything we can for the kids and, you know, it`s a lot better.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: I have to say K-Fed seems to have gotten his life back on track. That`s nice to see.

Moving on now to a scandal involving one of the most popular child actors of all time. I`m talking about "Different Strokes" star Todd Bridges. I could hardly believe what the `80s sitcom star told me about his battle with drug addiction and how he and Dana Plato who played his sister on "Different Strokes" snuck around, did drugs together, and even had a sexual relationship while they starred on the show.

Bridges, of course, played Willis, and he`s now telling all in an exclusive book he`s titled "Killing Willis".

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

TODD BRIDGES, FORMER CHILD STAR: Stuff I should be dead. I`m truly blessed by god to still be alive.

HAMMER (voice-over): It`s a shocking story about the dark side of childhood fame. Todd Bridges revealed his most explosive memories from his time as a troubled former child star. The most shocking that he had a sexual affair with the actress who played his sister on the hit sitcom "Different Strokes."

(On camera): You and Dana who, of course, played your sister on "Different Strokes" had a sexual relationship.

BRIDGES: You need to understand that she wasn`t my real sister.

HAMMER: Your sister on the show, but -- yes, and not even your real sister on the show.

BRIDGES: It was fake. Yes.

HAMMER: Right. I guess we`ll be clear about that.

BRIDGES: Yes.

HAMMER (voice-over): Bridges was almost 13 when he began his role as the older brother Willis on "Different Strokes" in 1978.

BRIDGES: I can`t afford a taxi.

GARY COLEMAN, ARNOLD, "DIFFERENT STROKES": Get a job.

HAMMER: Bridges told me his co-star Dana Plato who played Kimberly on the show initiated a sexual affair with him.

(On camera): How long did that go on?

BRIDGES: Dana -- well, the whole part of the show, just about. Whenever we were in between relationships we`d have it.

HAMMER (voice-over): Bridges tells me his affair with Plato was his first heterosexual experience.

BRIDGES: I was trying to -- I was trying to figure out whether I was homosexual or not because I had been molested by my publicist three or four times. And when Dana -- when that happened with Dana, it made me realized that I liked girls.

HAMMER: Bridges also tells me it was Plato who introduced him to drugs.

BRIDGES: She didn`t talk me into it. Those were my own choices.

HAMMER: Bridges` early experiments with drugs led to a hardcore cocaine addiction after "Different Strokes" went off the air in 1986. Bridges wasn`t the only young "Different Strokes" cast member with problems.

JANELL SNOWDEN, VH1 NEWS/RED CARPET CORRESPONDENT: They`re sort of like the poster children for child actors gone wrong. You have Todd Bridges who`s been in and out of jail, addicted to drugs, once tried for attempted murder.

Dana Plato who died of a drug overdose and then Gary Coleman who`s just angry and bitter and had his own run into the law.

HAMMER: Bridges told me if he thinks there`s a "Different Strokes" curse.

BRIDGES: I think that what happened, we had very unique family background. That`s what it comes down to. Gary Coleman had parents that just didn`t care much about him. You know? They made him work when he was sick a lot. And then Dana, her mother wasn`t around that much, you know.

So I think that, you know, when those kinds of things -- we definitely (INAUDIBLE) with our family, it`s going to create certain things.

HAMMER: Bridges got clean in 1992. He says days before his old co-star Dana Plato died of a drug overdose in 1999, he tried in vain to reach out to her to try and help her kick her drug habit.

Bridges tells me how he was able to finally beat the demons that have claimed so many other child stars, including the ones he was close to.

BRIDGES: I`m happy. And after -- and the thing, the way I look at it. We all have our days of being unhappy. But the way I look at it is, I`m going to be happy with me and I don`t care what people say about me.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: He`s a good guy. I`m glad to hear that he`s doing better. Todd Bridges` new book "Killing Willis: From Different Strokes to the Mean Streets to the Life I Always Wanted" is out right now.

Todd Bridges is one of the many stars who`s has battled illegal drug abuse. But there`s a dirty Hollywood secret I am now revealing about prescription drugs. Stars shopping for doctors that will write them dangerous prescription.

The outrage over the new mistress reality show and the host of that show right here in an interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HARRIS: I don`t really think the mistresses have destroyed a home. They have been lied to. Again, we`re blaming the women when we should be blaming these men.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And I am betting that Tiger Woods absolutely wished he had this. It`s actually called TigerText. It makes your text messages disappear for good. And that would have come in handy for Tiger.

This is a special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Stars and Scandal" on HLN, news and views.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: And now a new way for stars to try to keep a lid on their scandals. There`s actually an iPhone app called TigerText. Now the makers say that the name has nothing to do with Tiger Woods but he could have and probably should have used it.

Here`s CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

WOODS: Good morning.

JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): When Tiger Woods was texting his alleged mistresses, he never imagined his messages would one day end up being animated for all to see.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Quietly and secretly we will always be together.

MOOS: Now the quietly and secretly part stands a chance. Introducing TigerText. They are slogan to cover your tracks.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I said wouldn`t it be great if you could send a text and it would just self destruct in 30 seconds?

MOOS: Sound familiar? Remember how the "Mission: Impossible" team used to get their secret assignments.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This disc will self-destruct in five seconds.

MOOS: The makers of TigerText say their iPhone app allows you to automatically delete text message from the sender`s phones and the receiver`s phone.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Wow.

MOOS: You set the time from delete on read, the message disappears a minute after it`s read to a month later. And it also vanishes from the server.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: When it`s gone, it`s gone.

MOOS: In the TigerText demo, someone messages, how did the job interview go? The reply, I told you, don`t send any stuff like this. Don`t worry, I set it to delete on read. There`s a countdown and for the message vanishes, replace by tiger pause.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I don`t know. TigerTexting? Maybe we can call it something else.

MOOS (on camera): The makers of TigerText say they are not referring to Tiger Woods. They mean the ones with four legs.

(Voice-over): Supposedly because they`re hard to track. "PC World" called it the "App for Spies and Cheaters."

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s not about salaciousness. It`s about the need for privacy.

Jeanne, how many times have you sent a text message and closed with the words, please delete after reading?

MOOS: And it`s not just for the iPhone.

(On camera): TigerText is coming soon to a BlackBerry near you.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Truthfully, I think it`s very sketchy.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It`s very sneaky.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Wow. I don`t know. I kind of like it. People should be able to have their privacy.

MOOS (voice-over): The biggest catch is that both sender and receiver need to have the app for it to work. If only Tiger had it.

WOODS: Can you please take your name off my phone? My wife went through my phone and may be calling you.

MOOS: One Web site called TigerText, the morning-after pill of messaging.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think I`ll get it. If it`s --

MOOS (on camera): You have a guilty laugh.

(LAUGHTER)

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: That was CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

And now the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT lineup. Here`s what`s coming up on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Sandra Bullock`s husband`s cheating scandal has been very public. How did Sandra manage to keep her adoption of a baby boy secret?

The outrage over the new mistress reality show. The host of the controversial show right here and the interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

And Hollywood`s dirty secrets. Stars shopping for doctors who will write them dangerous prescriptions.

This is a special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Starts and Scandal" on HLN, news and views.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Now on this special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, "Stars and Scandal."

Sandra Bullock`s shocking secret. How did Sandra keep the adoption of her baby such a big secret?

Mistress scandals. One on one with the host of a reality TV show, featuring alleged celebrity mistresses. It`s the interview you`ll see only on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HARRIS: I don`t really think the mistresses have destroyed a home. They have been lied to. Again, we`re blaming the women when we should be blaming these men.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Star drug scandal. Hollywood`s dirty secret. Do stars really shop for doctors to write dangerous prescriptions?

ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news continues right now.

HAMMER: Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. This is a special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Stars and Scandal".

And right now Sandra`s secrets. Sandra Bullock shocked the world with the spectacular news that she adopted a baby boy. But how in the world did she keep that secret despite all the intense scrutiny she was under as her husband`s cheating scandal exploded?

The details are really extraordinary. Here is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson with Sandra`s sensational secret.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON (voice-over): After news broke that Sandra Bullock`s husband Jesse James had an alleged yearlong affair with a stripper, this was the daily scene in front of Sandra`s home.

So how in the world was Sandra able to hide the biggest news of her life, that she had secretly adopted the new love of her life, Louis Bardo Bullock in January?

MARVET BRITTO, THE BRITTO AGENCY: It`s shocking but it really speaks to her pedigree and how much she really sacrificed to create a loving environment, a nurturing environment for another individual.

ANDERSON: "People" magazine`s senior writer David Caplan tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT keeping her 3-month-old son Louis a secret was no easy task.

DAVID CAPLAN, SR. EDITOR, PEOPLE MAGAZINE: Sandra tells "People" that really keeping Louis a secret was essentially like a CIA-type of mission. Even people she worked with, like, her makeup artist and stylist, didn`t know.

ANDERSON: Something as simple as a visit to the doctor`s office was, for Sandra and Louis, a top secret mission that Sandra describes as filled with decoys and dark cars.

CAPLAN: She really had sort of almost like all these tricks of like not letting people know but she said for her Louis` privacy was paramount to everything.

ANDERSON: And she was even able to keep sweet Louis a secret during award season leading up to her big Oscar win. She tells "People," "We didn`t Louis pulled into the award season energy. I wanted him all to myself."

CAPLAN: For example, she wouldn`t want to have fittings at her home when it came to award season. She`d go elsewhere in a hotel so people wouldn`t know.

ANDERSON: And somehow she pulled it off. And you look at her glowing on the red carpet. It`s hard to believe she was exhausted like any new mom going on three hours of sleep.

CAPLAN: Little did anyone know, in fact, that she tells "People" inside her purse that night, on Oscar night, she`d a little sock of Louis` in her purse which kept falling out. And she said it was so funny that no one was ever asking her, you know, what`s with that little sock you have in your purse?

ANDERSON: And Sandra admits to "People" magazine she finds the parallels from her own life and to her Oscar-winning movie "The Blind Side" pretty amazing. She says, "I had to smile at the parallel. Here I was promoting a story about, "The Blind Side`, about a family who adopted a son and here we were having done the same thing."

And when Sandra won the Oscar for best actress for the movie, well, her acceptance speech has a whole new meaning when she said, "I would like to thank what this film is about for me. The moms that take care of the babies and the children, no matter where they come from. Those moms and parents never get thanked."

BRITTO: She was one of those moms. She was one of the very mothers that she was paying homage to.

ANDERSON: What`s most stunning of all is that Sandra went from being intensely secretive and private after Jesse`s infidelity to telling "People" magazine everything. From the new baby, the divorce, her husband`s infidelity, everything.

CAPLAN: This interview with Sandra was really shocking because she really did open up. So for her to be so forthcoming, it`s almost unprecedented with a celebrity.

ANDERSON: And in the process, she might have done Louis an immense service. By releasing photos of him in "People" magazine she just may have knocked down the high bounty on future paparazzi photos.

CAPLAN: For her it was releasing this information on her own terms. She didn`t want this information trickling out. She just wanted to do it on her own terms.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: It really is fascinating to look back at Sandra Bullock winning the Oscar knowing that she was a mom all that time and in those weeks before she won the Oscar for "The Blind Side," Sandra never let her baby news get out.

In an interview with SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson, long before she knew anything about her cheating husband, Sandra talked about working on the film and gave Jesse James credit for actually helping her improve her acting skills.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: You had said that your acting has improved since you married Jesse James. How so?

SANDRA BULLOCK, ACTRESS: Yes, I wish I had never said that.

(LAUGHTER)

BULLOCK: Because I`d say no more. And I just became more selective and had -- you know, I had this work before. That was my family until I had a family and I realized work became number two. By elimination of certain things my work became better.

ANDERSON: Let`s talk about this movie and the character, well, the real woman that you play, Leigh Anne Tuohy. What do you admire most about her?

BULLOCK: That she scares the (EXPLETIVE DELETED) out of me in the best way and I know you can bleep that. You rarely meet people in your lifetime that don`t have fear. And if she has fear, I don`t know where it`s living. She`s able to take what she thinks is right. It needs to be done and make it happen in a way that I`ve never seen another human being do.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BULLOCK: This team is your family, Michael. You have to protect them. Tony here is the quarterback. You protect his blind side. When you look at him, you think of him.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: What do you think people can learn from --

(CROSSTALK)

BULLOCK: That we all have this preconceived notion of what we think our family is supposed to be. There`s two women that are great parents. You know, that`s a family. You know I don`t care what color you are, what sexual orientation, what nationality or what religion you are. If you operate out of a place of love, that`s a family.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, it`s so sad to think that Sandra Bullock had no idea what her husband Jesse James was up to all that time.

It was Jesse`s alleged mistress, Michelle "Bombshell" McGee who came forward to tell her story about her alleged affair with James that then shattered Sandra`s world. Unfortunately, Bombshell McGee got famous for allegedly wrecking Sandra`s marriage. And now one of Tiger`s mistresses has apparently signed on to do a celebrity mistress reality show.

Yes, you heard me right. There`s a show. It`s an idea right now. But it actually could help some of these infamous mistresses find love.

Are you kidding me?

The show`s hosted by Michelle Harris and SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson asked Michelle about the show that seemed to glorify women who break up marriages.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: What do you say to those critics who feel that a show like this would be glorifying mistresses, celebrating women who`ve destroyed a marriage, a home?

HARRIS: Well, first of all, we have the wives on, too, so it`s not just the mistresses. And I don`t really think the mistresses have destroyed a home. They have been lied to. Again, we`re blaming the women when we should be blaming these men.

You know, in certain cases, you know, you can`t speak for all of them but that`s what`s happening. And most of the women watching the show right now I bet they`ve been hit on by a married guy. I certainly have. Even married celebrities have hit on me. And the things that they say, we`re getting a divorce, it`s just for PR. We`re not human lie detectors. So I think everyone deserves a second chance. I think let`s give these ladies a second chance.

ANDERSON: And Jamie Grubbs, one of Tiger Woods` alleged mistresses is reportedly signed on.

HARRIS: Right. Right.

ANDERSON: To participate. So I know that you run into a lot of people in your travels, Michelle. If you did run into Elin Woods, what would you say to her about this show?

HARRIS: Well, I mean, coming from a wife perspective, obviously they`re seeing it in a different way but because we are helping the wives, too, hopefully she would like it.

ANDERSON: Really?

HARRIS: Yes. Because we`re helping the other wives that have been lied to. Both women have been lied to.

ANDERSON: If you`re Elin Woods sitting at home and you see a woman that you feel has essentially destroyed your family, your home, how could you like this show?

HARRIS: Tiger did that. And you`re right. I would probably --

ANDERSON: It goes both ways, though.

HARRIS: No.

ANDERSON: She participated.

HARRIS: She participated but how knowingly?

ANDERSON: But do you believe these mistresses and everything that they`re telling you, I was completely lied to. You know, in a way, I`m a little bit skeptical. I think they had to know. They had to know.

HARRIS: You know, there -- I don`t necessarily know that. I don`t necessarily know that. Because you can`t ever know what someone`s marriage is like. There are people who are married for different relationship and have different relationship where they do go outside the marriage. So how are you supposed to know that?

HAMMER: The incredible, outrageous claim. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT uncovers the disturbing truth about doctors shopping for drugs and the startling number of stars who are doing it.

Mariah Carey`s boozy speech bonanza. Mariah`s tipsy turn at a major film festival. Could Mariah`s slurred speech be worth millions of dollars?

Too fat to fly? Yes, the unbelievable scandal over the Hollywood director kicked off a plane because he was told he was too fat to fly.

This is a special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Stars and Scandal, on HLN, news and views.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to this special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, "Stars and Scandal." I`m A.J. Hammer in New York, and right now it`s a SHOWBIZ special report.

Hollywood`s dirty little secret. It`s the story behind an illegal prescription drug ring. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter reveals a disturbing truth here. Doctor shopping for drugs is all too common in Hollywood.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

WYNTER (voice-over): Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Corey Haim, Anna Nicole Smith. Their deaths raised questions about one of Hollywood`s dirty little secrets. Prescription drug abuse that in recent months has dominated the headlines.

JANE VELEZ MITCHELL, HLN ANCHOR: Two doctors charged with conspiring to furnish Anna.

WYNTER: Smith`s doctors pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring to supply her with controlled substances. At the time of her death, at least four different sedatives were found in her system, including Klonopin and Valium. Drugs made readily available to celebrities says actress McKenzie Phillips.

(On camera): This is not as easy as just picking up the phone saying I need that prescription, I need that medication.

PHILLIPS: Well, I mean, I`ve been to doctors who`ve never even touched my body or took my blood pressure and I walked out with 130, you know, hydrocodone tablets. I mean, yes, I guess it`s easier for famous people.

WYNTER (voice-over): A teen star and a daughter of a famous musician, Phillips writes in her book "High on Arrival" about her longtime battle with drug addiction and how some doctors willingly over-prescribe pills despite her history as an addict. She said she`s been clean for a year and a half now.

(On camera): There are some doctors out there -- many doctors, perhaps -- who may be enamored by a star and they`re just trying to please their clients but come on, you have to have stars on the other end who may be using their fame to get these drugs.

PHILLIPS: Well, I`m sure that that is definitely something that helps them to get the doctor to give them whatever they want. And I know I`ve been in that position myself.

WYNTER (voice-over): Addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky has worked with stars like Phillips and says the power of celebrity addicts can present unique challenges for doctors.

DR. DREW PINSKY, ADDICTION SPECIALIST: I tell my peers that are trying to take care of celebrities, do not go there alone. You must have a team. It`s too seductive. Addiction is powerful. You will get sucked right into it.

WYNTER (on camera): How does it work? You have a celebrity with so much power, and they want to get their hand on these drugs. They`re addicts.

PINSKY: They may not be consciously thinking that way. It`s not like I`ve got to get my Vicodin. They`re thinking, I hear Dr. Smith is pretty good. Translated, gives lots of good medication.

So they go see Dr. Smith and they offer Dr. Smith a lot of money and they tell Dr. Smith, you`re the best doctor. You made me feel so great. I`m going to tell -- I have lots of important friends. I`m going to tell them all how great you are. And I`m going to pay a lot of money.

That patient starts getting out of control with their medicine.

JERRY BROWN, CALIF. ATTORNEY GENERAL (D): When you get the high anxiety that celebrity, temporary as it is, that then feeds the addictive propensity and then on top of that if someone is a celebrity, then these obscure doctors get a bit of contact high, if I could call it that, by prescribing and being in part of the mix.

WYNTER (voice-over): California`s attorney general Jerry Brown says it`s a problem that goes beyond tinsel town. His office has launched investigations into more than 200 prescription drug cases involving addict patients and physicians who help them cross the line.

An undergone drug work Mackenzie Phillips says she`s glad she`s left behind and cautions --

PHILLIPS: We`ve become the society that`s just take -- I`m sad, take a pill. I`m in pain, take a pill. Take a pill. Take a pill. And really it`s just so -- it`s just so dangerous. People are dying.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Well, if there`s anyone who can give us insight into all of this, it`s this guy. Right now in Philadelphia, Danny Bonaduce who`s a radio host for the "Danny Bonaduce Show" and former child star on the hit `70s show "The Partridge Family."

Danny, you`ve struggled with addition since you were a teenager, addicted to everything from crack to cocaine. You`ve been in and out of rehab. You know the realities of addiction. Is it just ridiculously easy to get prescription meds if you`re a celebrity?

DANNY BONADUCE, RADIO TALK SHOW HOST, WYSP PHILADELPHIA: No, it`s just ridiculously easy to get prescription meds. There`s nothing to do with celebrity. It`s a money-making business. And I don`t mean to make light or be flipping here. But did I just hear in the same sentence, when you have a mega star, you have to be careful because you`ll get sucked in and then the name Mackenzie Phillips came up?

HAMMER: Yes.

BONADUCE: Really? Are you going to get sucked up into the major limelight of Mackenzie Phillips? If you have the money and a doctor is for a sale, you can buy it.

HAMMER: Janet Jackson said herself her family tried to get Michael off of addiction to prescription drugs. Is Michael, in your mind, Danny, the ultimate example of how this really is out of control, celebrity or not?

BONADUCE: This is the -- as far as one of the few examples because he is such a star, was such a star -- God rest his soul -- that he could get men of dignity, people who have taken the Hippocratic Oath to bend the rules because he was so gigantic. I will give him that.

I will also give him that he was one-third of my graduating class. Our yearbook went for $6500 on e-Bay because he signed it and the sad thing to say is, the entire graduating class of my year is dead. Everybody from my yearbook is dead except me. It`s unbelievable.

HAMMER: Danny, I do appreciate your being here and giving us your insight. Thanks so much, man.

BONADUCE: It`s always a pleasure, A.J. Thank you.

HAMMER: Trying to take a trip developed into a controversial scandal for superstar director Kevin Smith. Now Kevin was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight because he allegedly didn`t fit into one seat.

Like many celebrities do these days, Kevin took his fight with Southwest Airlines in this case to Twitter. Kevin blasted the airline for booting him from the flight, setting off the controversial debate.

Now Southwest Airlines` policy states if a passenger doesn`t fit into one seat, two must be purchased. And there weren`t two available on the flight that Kevin wanted to take. Well, Kevin threw down a mile-high challenge to Southwest, tweeting, "Hey, Southwest Air, you bring that same row of seats to the Daily Show and I`ll sit in them for all to see on TV. I don`t fit, I`ll donate $10,000 to the charity of your choice.

"But when I do and buckle the belt as well, one, you will admit you lied. Two, change your policy or at least re-train your staff to be a lot more human and a lot less corporate."

Well, the airline never took him up on it and Kevin also posted a video rant. Check this out.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KEVIN SMITH, DIRECTOR: My heartfelt apologies. I was passing. I was trying to pass desperately for thin. And that`s why I went to your thin person`s airline. And one day I will go on a diet. And I`ll lose some weight. And when I do that maybe I`ll be thin enough. That`ll be my goal. If I could get Southwest Airlines thin.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: You`ll want to fasten your seatbelts. I do get the impression there could be some serious turbulence ahead.

And we move o now to Mariah Carey`s boozy speech bonanza. A remarkable revelation about Mariah Carey`s tipsy turn at a major film festival.

CAREY: And please forgive me because I`m a little bit -- yes.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Mariah Carey admitted she was a little tipsy during her acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. But now the people who run the festival they`re saying, hey, Mariah, have another round on us, because it may be worth $40 million.

Mariah`s loopy champagne-soaked acceptance speech at the award show totally went viral online because it was just so wacky. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CAREY: I met Helen Mirren tonight. I was so excited. I couldn`t believe it. The genius Helen Mirren.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: From a queen to a diva.

(LAUGHTER)

CAREY: Yes, that`s right. You need to be clapping. Sorry. Sometimes I get a little -- I`m very grateful. I thank you all for listening to my little spiel, and God bless you. OK. Take care.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: How do you not love that? Well, the folks at the Palm Springs Film Festival tell SHOWBIZ TONIGHT they`re actually thrilled Mariah got drunk because all those Web hits of people looking at Mariah is better than any PR money could buy.

Here`s what they had to say, "Mariah Carey added a billion impressions for us, that would have been like $40 million worth of advertising."

$40 million, Mariah, I`m thinking forget about that award for Breakthrough Actress in "Precious." The Palm Springs people should be cutting you a check.

Well, Adam Lambert rips into one of his own fans at a concert. All this went down when the "American Idol" star was performing at a special invite-only show in New York. It`s all caught on tape. It`s all over the Internet.

Adam was performing for iheartradio. The radio network found online and on mobile devices. And a fan started yapping away, yap, yap, yapping on her cell phone in the middle of his performance, which was live.

Well, Adam wasn`t having any of it and let her have it. You`ve got to see this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ADAM LAMBERT, SINGER: OK, wait. Sorry, sorry. Can you get off your phone? You`re yelling into it. Wait, sorry. We`re going to start over. Sorry, guys. Really? Domino`s, we deliver. You`re not watching TV, honey. It`s a live show.

(LAUGHTER)

LAMBERT: OK. Let`s try that one more time.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, who does that? What in the world is so important that you actually need to speak with someone as you`re sitting in the front row of a big concert? That`s just plain rude, right?

I`m guessing everyone else at the show waited until after the concert to ask, can you hear me now?

Well, that is it for this special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Stars and Scandal." Thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.
