(MUSIC)

Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City with big news breaking today - suing Charlie Sheen.

Yes. Today, it`s the porn star versus Charlie Sheen. Adult film actress Capri Anderson is launching a stunning and very public new case against Sheen today. She is the mysterious woman who was with Sheen on that wild night last month when he alleged live went on rampage, trashed a New York City hotel room and ended up in the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Well, now, in a pair of interviews airing today, she`s telling her side of the story announcing she plans to sue Sheen and file a criminal complaint against him for making her fear for her life that night.

But not only is Sheen`s side denying her story; they are promising to fight tooth and nail to make sure she doesn`t get a dime.

Right now, in Hollywood Pat Lalama who is an investigative journalist. And with me in New York, Sunny Hostin who is a legal contributor from "In Session" on our sister network, Tru TV.

So one of the first things that Sheen`s accuser, Capri Anderson, wants to clear up is that on her night out with Sheen, she was not - I repeat, was not working as a prostitute, despite what was reported about her after the hotel room trashing incident.

This morning, on "Good Morning America," she told George Stephanopoulos she`s a paid escort. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS, ANCHOR, "GOOD MORNING AMERICA": His attorneys say that one of the reasons this sort of got out of control is that you expected to be paid for sex in that room and that didn`t happen.

CAPRI ANDERSON, ADULT FILM ACTRESS: That`s absolutely wrong.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Absolutely wrong? Never discussed payment for sex with Charlie Sheen?

C. ANDERSON: There`s absolutely no truth to that whatsoever.

STEPHANOPOULOS: One of the figures that`s been reported is $12,000.

C. ANDERSON: No. I was offered $3,500 to attend a dinner party, which I was never paid.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. So you have a porn star moonlighting as a paid escort who didn`t accuse Sheen of anything until almost a month after the hotel rampage right at the same time that she`s announcing this lawsuit. Pat Lalama, I`m just going to take a shot in the dark here that Capri may have to deal with a little credibility issue, don`t you think?

PAT LALAMA, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: A.J., first of all, here`s what we have. We have the collision of two morally-toxic worlds here, so combustible. These two deserve each other.

Now, having said that, if there`s any physical violence perpetrated upon a woman, whether she`s getting paid or not, that`s wrong, wrong, wrong.

HAMMER: Right.

LALAMA: But the problem is she has no credibility. The problem is I believe she`s lying. I believe she knew exactly what she was getting into and her big problem is her timeline.

I don`t care what she says. If you have been violated, you`re visibly upset and you go for help. End of story. And she didn`t do it.

HAMMER: All right. Sunny Hostin, I have you on retainer here today as our legal expert. What do you think? Does this woman even stand a chance at successfully suing Charlie Sheen? He`s a very, very powerful and wealthy man.

HOSTIN: I think she does and I don`t want to be dismissive of her because I`ve handled cases where prostitutes have been raped and so there is precedent for this.

HAMMER: And to be clear, she said she was not working as a prostitute.

HOSTIN: She said she wasn`t a prostitute. She said she was getting paid $3,500 to make an appearance at a dinner. I go to dinners all the time and I don`t get paid for it.

HAMMER: No.

HOSTIN: But that being said, I just think it`s possible that she could be successful. She didn`t ask to be sort of abused. Things were allegedly thrown at her. This is a case that probably will never see the light of day. This should be settled quietly with some sort of gag order on all parties -

HAMMER: Yes. And send it away.

HOSTIN: And send it away.

HAMMER: OK. Well, as I mentioned, she gave two interviews. The other interview was on ABC`s "Nightline," and on that, Capri Anderson admits things were getting steamy with her consent Sheen`s hotel room. But she tells ABC`s Ashley Banfield that things went south when Sheen tried to put his hands around her neck and she resisted. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

C. ANDERSON: I just left my purse and my dress because - I just left it there because I was scared maybe he would, you know, really come at me if he thought maybe I was trying to leave.

He grabbed something off around from the mini bar and it looked like a knife, but I wasn`t sure. It could have been an envelope opener or something. It was like that of being in a horror film or what I would imagine it to be like.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Pat Lalama, I want to get back to something that we all just touched on here - whether Capri is a paid escort or not, she is potentially a victim here. Should everybody just stand back and reserve judgment on this woman?

LALAMA: I think we should reserve judgment. I - I`m going to say it again - her credibility is problematic for me because of her timeline.

But here`s the big problem, and this is an old, old problem when these kinds of cases come up. You`ve got big, powerful, male Hollywood star and you`ve got the crying victim. Now, here`s the thing -

HOSTIN: The prosecution`s not going to look at that. Prosecutors won`t look at that.

LALAMA: Wait, wait, wait. Let me finish my point. A.J., I`d like to finish my point. My point is that I`m already hearing men say, "Oh, she`s a hoe. She`s gets money for sex." And they`re already trying to denigrate her as a human being and I find that to be a real -

HOSTIN: It`s wrong.

HAMMER: Yes.

LALAMA: It`s hideous what men do to try to beat her. It`s OK for Charlie to pay, but it`s not OK for her to say, "I want money for my services." There`s still a double standard and that`s the big problem for me.

HOSTIN: OK.

HAMMER: Well, Sheen`s attorney is not taking this lying down. They`re being very clear about how they feel about this.

In a statement today, here`s what he`s telling SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, "Ms. Capri never made any allegation to the police of any wrongful conduct on the part of Mr. Sheen on the night of the incident and she had every opportunity to do so. She also posted on her Web site that she was fine."

"If she pursues legal action, we will defend this vigorously. These allegations against Mr. Sheen are completely false and are a blatant attempt to cash in on his celebrity."

So Sunny, getting back to the earlier point that you made, should he just write a check at this point and make it all go away? Because, certainly, he can afford it, but of course, there comes along with that some implication, some almost admission of guilt.

HOSTIN: Well, he just had his probation closed in another case and I think he`s very lucky for that. And certainly, this is the type of person that`s sort of a repeat customer to the criminal justice system and needs to put this behind him.

Again, I`m not going to be dismissive of her. There are many victims that are victimized and wait a long time before coming forward. So I`m not bothered by the timeline. I am a little bothered by, perhaps, her credibility because of her chosen profession -

HAMMER: Right.

HOSTIN: Being a porn star.

HAMMER: So we should lay off about the timeline and the fact that she didn`t speak up at the moment.

HOSTIN: Yes. Absolutely.

HAMMER: Who`s to say what was going on?

HOSTIN: Victims do it all the time.

HAMMER: Got it.

HOSTIN: Who`s to say? But this should go away.

HAMMER: Well, today, I want to move on to this because another Hollywood superstar accused of some pretty nasty things had his day in court. Mel Gibson and his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, seen in a new TMZ video which I`m about to show you.

They met in an L.A. court today. They`re fighting for custody of their one-year-old daughter, Lucia. Now, considering Oksana`s claims that Gibson abused her, not to mention those infamous phone recordings of a man who sounds, well, an awful lot like Mel Gibson saying pretty horrific things, what do you think, Pat Lalama? Does Gibson have any chance at all of getting custody of Lucia in your mind?

LALAMA: Here`s my prediction on this one. I think both of these people have exercised poor judgment. They both need counseling. I truly, truly believe. But the courts here in Los Angeles see far more - heinous cases of child neglect of bad parenting.

I think a judge is going to give them joint custody. I don`t think she`s going to get a lot more money than she`s getting and it`s going to be over with.

HAMMER: Mel`s side and Oksana`s side have done a terrific job, if nothing else, of tearing each other apart in the media.

LALAMA: Exactly.

HAMMER: Do you think, Sunny, that, you know, any judge can make a decision that`s going to make everybody happy here?

HOSTIN: Oh, never, never. But I actually disagree. I think that it is probable that she will get full custody because with - she has a pretty strong case.

I mean, we all heard those tapes. And now, we have an admission from him that he did physically abuse her.

HAMMER: Yes.

HOSTIN: I think a judge looking at that may give her full custody.

HAMMER: Well, it`s going to be interesting on the admissibility of those tapes because, again, it`s allegedly Mel. Oksana says, "Yes, that`s me and that`s Mel on the tapes."

HOSTIN: That`s right.

LALAMA: And A.J. -

HAMMER: Got to wrap it up, Pat Lalama. All right. Love you. Thank you. Sunny Hostin, Pat, appreciate it.

We have to move on to Justin Bieber`s shocking night. The 16-year-old and his swooshy hair sweeps the American Music Awards.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The American Music Award goes to Justin Bieber.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Justin beats the likes of Eminem, Lady Gaga. Of course, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there at the AMAs. And today, we dare to ask the AMA`s biggest shocker, love him or hate him? All right. What do you think?

Palin overload? Look, Sarah`s ratings bonanza for her new show are going crazy. Bristol could be this close to winning "Dancing with the Stars." Are the Palins overexposed? Plus, could there be a dancing backlash if Bristol wins the whole thing?

And new signs today that Eva Longoria`s and Tony Parker`s Split could get really ugly and I`m talking really quickly. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

Time for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: "American Idol" moving to Wednesdays and Thursdays next season. Katy Perry says she loved Darren Criss` cover of "Teenage Dream" on "Glee."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KATY PERRY, SINGER: I was just talking to Darren. He was just right on the red carpet. And I was like, oh, my god, he did such a fantastic job. He`s such a sweetheart and brought such a wonderful love and light to it and it was the perfect positioning in the show and stuff. So I`m very proud of it.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

New revelations today about how Courteney Cox is coping without David Arquette. Now, according to her "Cougartown" co-star, Courteney hasn`t missed a beat at least on set since her separation from David last month.

Josh Hopkins tells "People" magazine this, "She comes to set. She knows her stuff and she is hilarious every day. She`s been amazing."

Just in, new details about another recent star split. Eva Longoria`s desperate return as Tony Parker makes a shocking new move. Big news breaking as Lindsay Lohan flames out and Harry Potter casts his biggest spell yet. All this in "The Buzz Today."

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over) Harry`s box office magic. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" flew into first place earning more than an estimated $125 million over the weekend.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) the deathly hallows.

HAMMER: It was the best "Harry Potter" opening weekend ever.

Lindsay`s "Inferno" extinguished. Lindsay Lohan has just been replaced in the Linda Lovelace biopic, "Inferno." Lohan was cast to play the deep- throat porn star in the film.

But now, the film`s producer tells "People.com," quote, "Lindsay had scheduling issues due to legal obligations and is continuing to focus on getting better in rehabilitation in Palm Springs and she really had to focus on that in our opinion and hers." Malin Ackerman is now reportedly replacing Lindsay Lohan in the film.

Eva back at work. Eva Longoria has reportedly just returned to the set of "Desperate Housewives" just as Tony Parker filed for divorce. Longoria is getting support on set from her cast mates while her soon-to-be ex just filed for divorce in Texas the same week Longoria filed in Los Angeles.

TMZ reports Parker claims the reason for the divorce is because, quote, "The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personality."

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Whatever the reason for Eva and Tony`s split, I can understand why a lot of people say this is just the start of an ugly battle today.

First, Eva files for divorce in California and Tony counter-sues just days later in Texas. If this breakup is, as they say, amicable, then, why all the legal wrangling today?

Right now, in Atlanta is Carlos Diaz who is a syndicated radio host. And Carlos will be sitting in for Jane Velez-Mitchell on "ISSUES" tonight at 7:00 p.m. right here on HLN.

So Eva and Tony`s breakup was stunning enough, obviously. You know, these guys were so public about their romance, their fairytale wedding. And then, suddenly, it`s over in this cloud of cheating claims.

But today, we have two divorce filings in the same case. Sounds to me a little like, "Hey, you can`t dump me. I`m dumping you."

CARLOS DIAZ, SYNDICATED RADIO HOST: Yes. And also, A.J., you have to wonder, like, OK, is this posturing on Tony`s part because, you know, Eva checked the box for spousal support and then the pre-nup allegedly said there was no spousal support.

So is this Tony`s way of saying, "OK, you drop the need for spousal support and I`ll drop, you know, my petition to file for divorce in Texas and let us go with your divorce in L.A."

It`s all kind of posturing. But here`s the thing I can`t understand, A.J. You`ve interviewed Eva several times. You know she`s, A, the hottest, B, the most personable and, C, the funniest girl in Hollywood as far as a complete package.

HAMMER: Yes.

DIAZ: Tony, you`re an idiot. What are you doing?

HAMMER: Well, that kind of goes without saying in this case. But back to the original point though, Carlos. You know, the fact is he did sign that $50 million deal and a lot of people are saying that he filed in Texas because he`s trying to protect the money.

But of course the money is not the only thing Tony should worry about here. "E! Online" is reporting that Tony`s San Antonio Spurs teammates - these guys are fired up, apparently, about claims that Tony had this inappropriate relationship with the wife of a teammate.

Now, Carlos, if the reports are true that Tony did cross the line with his teammate`s wife, I`m thinking, you know, Tony didn`t just break his marriage vows. He breached the guy code here.

DIAZ: You do not hit on wives, sisters, sisters of wives, aunts - those are all off limits. And, yes, Tony broke guy code.

And if it`s true, if he did mess around with Aaron Berry, also, she broke like the first wives code because she know what all the wives have to go through. These NBA wives are always going through speculation that their guy is cheating on them.

And then she goes and allegedly cheats with an NBA player on the same team. So she`s at fault, too. This is not a pretty situation. But I would hate for the Spurs` season to go down the tubes because of this, although I feel that Eva might not mind.

HAMMER: Well, yes, I think you`re probably on to something. But how do you mess it up with Eva Longoria? No matter what actually did go down. Carlos Diaz, thank you, my friend.

Got to move on to Miley Cyrus` mature new look. Take a look.

(MUSIC)

Just days before she officially turns 18, the teen queen tones it way down on the American Music Awards, all covered up. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, of course, was right there. But do you love it or hate it?

Kardashian, an emergency room drama. Which Kardashian was rushed to the hospital? The heart-stopping details today.

And are we in for total Palin TV takeover in Sarah is getting crazy ratings with her new show. Bristol could dance away with the mirror ball trophy in the "Dancing" finals. But are the Palins getting way overexposed? Plus, the SHOWBIZ Flashpoint today - would Bristol winning "Dancing with the Stars" actually hurt the show? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

It`s time for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Beyonce`s new ad for Heat was just too hot for TV in Britain. But today, is Beyonce really saying that she`s glad it got banned?

Beyonce`s steamy ad for her new perfume got some folks in the U.K. so hot under the collar they said no way it should see the light of day, literally. The commercial has been banned from daytime TV in Great Britain so kids wouldn`t be exposed to Beyonce`s heat.

Well, this morning on "The View," Beyonce confessed she`s actually cool with the whole Heat controversy. In fact, Beyonce says the ban is the best thing that could have happened to her. Check this out.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": So they`re going to air it after 7:30. What did you think of that when you heard?

BEYONCE KNOWLES, SINGER: Well, I think it was very good because a lot of people went and watched the commercial and it upped my sales. It was great.

SHEPHERD: There you go.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I knew that was going to happen. Beyonce`s Heat sales have already set this astonishing record making $3 million in the first month it was on store shelves. Nice going, B.

Well, a big health scare for the littlest Kardashian. Kourtney Kardashian`s baby son was rushed to the hospital after an allergic reaction to peanut butter.

Here`s how it all went down. According to Kourtney`s blog, she writes, quote, "Friday night, Mason ate some peanut butter and had a little allergic reaction to it. He threw up within minutes of tasting it and got hives on his face."

Kourtney was actually testing to see if Mason had a peanut allergy, something that some new moms do with babies about Mason`s age. Little Mason is fine today but Kourtney also blogged that the scariest part of the whole ordeal was that a paparazzo caught part of the drama on tape and posted it online. Not really all that surprising.

Well, Chris Brown got some big praise from a judge for following the rules of his probation. He`s on probation for beating up Rihanna nearly two years ago.

Over on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook page, our fans are really encouraging Chris to keep up the good work. Let me get to a couple of comments. This is from Charice P., "I think he`s setting a great example of turning his life around. He obviously is trying very, very hard to put this mess behind him. Keep your head up, Chris."

And Fly G. writes this, "Chris has definitely set a positive example, not only for himself, but for the world. He has learned his lesson. Way to go, Breezy."

Time now for the SHOWBIZ lineup - here`s what`s coming up at the bottom of the hour on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

It`s Taylor Swift`s dramatic new look. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT right there at the American Music Awards for this look debut. Do you love it or hate it?

Palin overload? Sarah`s new show. Bristol dancing to the finals. Are the Palins getting overexposed?

And your first look at Jessica Simpson`s engagement ring. I am here to tell you it is a stunner. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City with big news breaking today - love it or hate it.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is bringing you the star shockers today from the American Music Awards you do not want to miss, from Miley Cyrus` toned down performance to Taylor Swift`s more grown up look.

And of course, Justin Bieber just sweeping the night`s biggest awards right from under two of the biggest artists in the world, Bieber`s mentor Usher and the legendary rapper Eminem.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JUSTIN BIEBER, SINGER: Truly, I don`t know how this is possible because, you know, I`ve been singing Eminem since I was, you know, three and, you know, Usher is my mentor, you know. So this is big.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. You`re not kidding, Bieb. Do you love it or hate it? With me, in New York, Steven Smith, who is a music and pop culture expert. Also in New York, with me, K. Foxx who is a radio host on HOT 97`s "Morning Show" in New York City.

We`re going to talk about Justin Bieber`s huge night in just a second. But first, I have got to show you Miley Cyrus performing her song "Forgiveness and Love" at the AMAs. Take a look.

(MUSIC)

Look at that. It`s a whole new Miley all over again. She`s turning 18 on Tuesday. And personally, I think she accomplished a whole lot more last night by letting the focus be on what`s really important which is her performance instead of, you know, wearing some skimpy clothes and writhing around stage like she has done before, which is certainly her prerogative. But Steven, do you love it or hate it?

STEVEN SMITH, MUSIC AND POP CULTURE EXPERT: To be honest with you, I think it`s weird when there`s more focus going on her birthday than her actual performance. It`s like, she`s going to be 18. What`s she going to do? And the song being - it`s fine.

HAMMER: Yes. But to the point that, you know, for all this last year, we`re seeing her in skimpy clothes that a lot of people were saying were too provocative that maybe she shouldn`t have been wearing. And I actually thought this was the right move because we can focus more on her music. Don`t you think, K. Foxx?

K. FOXX, HOST, "MORNING SHOW" ON HOT 97: I definitely agree. It was politically correct for her. I mean, she`s been in the media a lot and being criticized for kissing older men, on video drinking. So this was definitely the right move for her.

HAMMER: All right. Well, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, of course, was right there on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Miley told us that she performed that song for a very specific reason. Watch what she said.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MILEY CYRUS, SINGER AND ACTRESS: I love the Beatles so when I wrote this song, I was listening to a lot of that. And I love how they inspire their fans to go out and do something good for the world. And I think that`s what our youth needs as well, so I just wanted to, you know, go out and tell all my fans that younger, fans that are my age that, you know, what it`s all about and that`s forgiveness and love.

And you know, it`s important. No one`s perfect and so just to enjoy your life and go out there - I just want to, you know, put out good, positive energy.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right. Steven, I`m watching you making faces there. Do you love it or hate it? Because I do have to say, again, there`s a level of maturity that I`m hearing here from her which I`m appreciating. I`m trying to.

SMITH: Yes. It`s interesting she`s picking and choosing about what she`s talking about the Beatles. I mean, the Beatles did inspire, you know, "All You Need is Love." But they also wrote songs about how, you know, the tax men came and got them because they were making too much money.

They wrote songs about drugs. They also wrote songs about, you know, cheating and doing all kinds of things like rock stars do. So in a sense, she`s pretty much following in their footsteps in certain ways

HAMMER: All right. You know, the comparisons to the Beatles and Miley Cyrus - that can hurt my head a little bit so we won`t go too deep into that.

But people are still buzzing today about Taylor Swift`s brand new look at the American Music Awards. Now, she sang her song "Back to December" wearing all black. And the only thing missing were Taylor`s trademark curly locks. I think she looks great. But what about you, K. Foxx? Did you love it or hate it? Take a look at her.

FOXX: I love this look because she`s allegedly dating Jake Gyllenhaal.

HAMMER: Yes.

FOXX: And this is a grown woman look for her and she`s supposedly dating a grown man, so it`s time for her to grow up. I loved it. She looked like a gorgeous supermodel. I loved it.

HAMMER: All right. The locks - the look of the locks got kind of mixed reviews this morning in our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT morning meeting. Steven, I know you`re a big hair critic.

SMITH: Yes.

HAMMER: Love it or hate it?

SMITH: The fact that it`s news that Taylor Swift discovered a flat iron, I love it. I think -

HAMMER: Yes.

SMITH: No offense, K. You look stunning.

FOXX: Thank you.

SMITH: But sometimes, you just want to press it down, put a towel on it, lie forward and don`t burn your eyelashes. I think she looks fabulous.

HAMMER: OK. The fact is when a big star, particularly female stars, change their look, particularly their hair, it does make news for better or worse. That`s what people are interested in and that`s what they`re chatting about today.

Of course Justin Bieber`s hair - that always makes headlines, doesn`t it? Today, the biggest headline from the American Music Awards itself was that the Bieb beat out his mentor Usher and the king of rap, Eminem.

A lot of people were stunned by the fact that he literally swept all the categories in which he was nominated, including Artist of the Year. He even beat out Eminem in that category.

And I`ve got to say I was happy to see Justin giving credit where credit is due. Take a look at what he said.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BIEBER: I really got this opportunity really about a year and a half ago and really was embraced by a man named Usher Raymond. And I don`t know, but I feel like he`s had such an amazing career and it would be only right if I invited him up here to share it with me.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Not only my mentor, but my best friend and my big brother. I love you, man.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: It`s funny, as I was watching the show last night, I`m thinking, oh, my god, the producers are freaking out right now because he`s taking time to bring somebody on stage. I thought it was a great moment, though.

K. Foxx, didn`t you - I mean, the truth is Usher, being beat out by a teenage boy, Eminem being beat out by a teenage boy - love it or hate it for you on that?

FOXX: You know what? I`m not a hater, but in this circumstance, I`ve got to hate this moment.

HAMMER: You`ve got a problem with it?

FOXX: I`ve got a problem - I like the fact that he paid homage to Usher. But he still has some stripes to earn in my book. I mean, he beat out Lady - he beat out these heavyweights. It`s not his turn yet. But they obviously think so, but I`m not feeling this. I`m hating. I`m hating. I admit it.

HAMMER: She`s hating even though she`s not a hater, loving or hating the fact that Justin Bieber is a sensation who beat out these, quite frankly, legends at this point.

SMITH: May the creds strike - may lightning strike me down. I love it. I love the fact that, one, he brought Usher up. But I think he really earned it.

You couldn`t get away from Justin Bieber this year. All those guys have had their moments in the sun and they will again. His career is just starting and I really, really believe he earned it.

HAMMER: All right.

SMITH: He got the fan base on his own. He got the deal on his own. Usher brought him up and he gave respect by bringing Usher. So I think it`s a win-win.

HAMMER: Fair enough. Let`s get to some guys right now who are looking to return to their moments in the sun. One of the highlights of the awards show to a lot of people and a lot of people are buzzing about this today, the highly-anticipated performance of the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block together on stage.

Look at it right now. This was a really kind of cool mash-up medley of their hits. They`re going to be heading out on tour in May of next year. I actually thought, K. Foxx, they did a pretty good job, you know, gave a little preview of what`s to come. But did you love it or hate it?

FOXX: You know what? I loved how cheesy it was.

HAMMER: OK.

FOXX: I wanted to see what they were going to do. And I didn`t know who was who until the New Kids on the Block performed "The Right Stuff." I was like, oh, that`s - OK, now I remember.

HAMMER: Yes.

FOXX: And then, they`re supposed to be going on tour with Pauley D. from the "Jersey Shore." Cheese factor.

HAMMER: OK. Cheese factor. Train wreck city.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

Today, it`s game on. Bristol Palin is stealing the spotlight today heading into Tuesday night`s "Dancing with the Stars" finale. She is consistently scoring the lowest among all the other dancers, but somehow she`s managed to stay in the running for the big prize and that as ignited all kind of outrage.

Today, more than ever, it looks like at least it is possible Bristol Palin could actually win it all, leading to our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint - would Bristol winning hurt "Dancing with the Stars"?

Right now, in Atlanta, Carlos Diaz, who is a syndicated radio host. With me, in New York, Megan Alexander. She`s a correspondent for "Inside Edition."

Well, we know what happened. Huge controversy erupted when Bristol was saved from elimination and Brandy was sent packing last week. A lot of people still up in arms saying the "Dancing with the Stars" voting system is flawed.

But today, the executive producer of "Dancing with the Stars" told "Entertainment Weekly" this, "I`m very confident that the votes that are getting through are valid."

That said, Megan, to our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint - and I think this is a very valid Flashpoint - with Megan (sic) winning "Dancing with the Stars" -

MEGAN ALEXANDER, CORRESPONDENT, "INSIDE EDITION": Yay! I want to do it today. You know, A.J., I don`t know if it will hurt the program, but I think it`s taking it in a different direction.

When this show first started out, yes, they were C or D-list celebrities but they were pretty much all celebrities on that show.

HAMMER: Yes.

ALEXANDER: Bristol Palin only famous because of her mother, who is involved in politics.

HAMMER: Right.

ALEXANDER: I think she is igniting the Average Joe who is voting for her who wants to see somebody in the Hollywood mix doing well that really isn`t a celebrity. So I think it`s turning it in a different direction and the power is definitely with the people here.

HAMMER: OK. Well, the way it`s turning, I mean, it`s taking some bizarre turns as far as this outrage that`s been going on.

A fan, as you heard, shot his TV because he was upset that Bristol advanced to the finals. Just this weekend, someone sent a letter filled with white powder to the "Dancing" set. It turns out, it was just talcum powder. But still, it sparked a big scare. Pretty stupid thing to do.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT caught up with Brandy`s former "Dancing" partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, at the American Music Awards. He urged his fans - stay calm. Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY, FORMER "DANCING WITH THE STARS" CONTESTANT: To all the fans out there, please don`t shoot TVs. Don`t send powder. It`s not funny and it`s not really - you know, it doesn`t show any kind of, you know - it`s not a good campaign if you want to get anybody`s attention.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: OK. I don`t want to make light of it but I can`t help smiling when I hear that. Now, if Bristol Palin wins, I don`t think there`s going to be riots in the streets, people burning cars and tossing them over. But Carlos, to our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint, would Bristol winning hurt "Dancing with the Stars"?

DIAZ: Of course, it would, A.J., because we`re talking about something serious here. The winner of this contest gets $1 million dollars in cash.

Oh, wait a minute. That`s not the case at all. Well, the winner in this contest does get a record deal. Oh, that`s not the case. The winner of this contest gets a trophy, an ugly mirror ball trophy, OK?

HAMMER: What`s a mirror ball trophy?

DIAZ: This discussion cracks me up because you don`t win anything. People, Bristol`s already won. She`s already won because she`s got into your living rooms for every possible moment that she could get in your living room the entire time.

HAMMER: But Carlos, really breaking it down - I hear everything you`re saying. But breaking it down, this is a show that people get very excited about and for different reasons.

A lot of people get excited because they think they`re having a part in choosing who is the best dancer, not who is the biggest celebrity.

DIAZ: Yes, but my boy, Mario Lopez, lost that year and he was better than anybody else in the show. I mean, all I`m saying is the best dancer doesn`t always win. But what do you win when you win?

All you`re doing when you stay on the show - to publicize yourself as long as possible.

HAMMER: I think it`s just going to reinforce what a popularity contest it is if, in fact, Bristol does walk away with your favorite trophy, the mirror ball trophy. So I`ll see if I can get you one of those.

But you know, the truth is we`re used to seeing Bristol in glitter and sequins on "Dancing with the Stars." But we did get a very different look at her last night. She went commercial fishing with her mom.

This was part of Sarah`s popular TLC show, "Sarah Palin`s Alaska." Now, in last night`s episode Sarah and Todd packed up the whole family and took a little road trip. Take a look at the advice that Sarah was dishing out.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

FMR. GOV. SARAH PALIN (R-AK): Todd, your lesson is, today is the first day of the rest of your life. Willow`s is the sun will come out tomorrow. She`s not worried about anything in life.

Bristol, here`s the lesson for you to think about tonight - there`s plenty of fish in the sea.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: OK. With this show, Megan, with Bristol on "Dancing," with Sarah`s book coming out, it`s like Palin palooza. Is there too much Palin out there right now?

ALEXANDER: I don`t think so. In the beginning, I was very critical of the show, A.J. I watched it last night. I think it`s a smart move. Sarah Palin is running a big commercial (UNINTELLIGIBLE) -

HAMMER: No risk of overexposure out here?

ALEXANDER: I don`t know. I think it`s working out pretty well so far.

HAMMER: All right. Fair enough. Megan Alexander, Carlos Diaz, I thank you both.

JESSICA SIMPSON, ACTRESS AND SINGER: I`ve already done the traditional thing so I just wanted to do something that was different and it was all Eric`s idea.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Did you see this? Jessica Simpson`s jaw-dropping engagement ring. Jessica showed off her jewels this morning on "CBS Early Show." And Jess is also revealing intimate new details about how Eric Johnson popped the question.

Well, Jessica`s ruby-and-diamond stunner was a hot topic during her sit- down with "CBS Early Show" co-host, Harry Smith this morning. Jess was there to plug her new CD. But it really turned into a tell-all about her new engagement ring.

Jessica also revealed intimate new details about how she and her fiance shared the special moment when Eric asked Jessica to be his wife.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HARRY SMITH, CO-HOST, "CBS EARLY SHOW": When he proposed, did he present the ring? Did he do that whole -

SIMPSON: Yes. He did. He did.

H. SMITH: And when you saw this, what was your reaction?

SIMPSON: Well, I first said yes. That was my first reaction.

H. SMITH: Right.

SIMPSON: I said yes and we both definitely were teary-eyed.

H. SMITH: Yes.

SIMPSON: Yes. I didn`t even try the ring on until like five minutes in, like I was so shocked.

H. SMITH: Wow.

SIMPSON: So I just kind of sat there and cried with him.

H. SMITH: You know, as rings go, that qualifies right up there as a jaw- dropper.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: No kidding. And as it turns out, Jessica`s fiance, a former NFL player, really is a traditional kind of guy. Jessica says that Eric talked it over with her parents before popping the question. So congratulations to Jessica on her ring and excitement.

Proud mama Pink`s baby revelations today. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT caught up with her on the red carpet of the American Music Awards. Now, Pink and her hubby, Carey Hart, shared the exclusive new details about their baby joy with us.

Pink, who performed at the American Music Awards, says her baby better get used to the red carpets and big crowds. But will it be a boy or a girl for Pink and Carey? Do they even want to know? Pink sets the record straight as only she can.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PINK: We`re not sure. The doctor guesses it as a girl. I don`t want to know. He really wants to know. He wants to slip the doctors a $20. But there aren`t many surprises in life, I think. So I don`t want to know. I don`t want to know until it comes out and pees in his face. I think we`ll be traveling gypsies, a family band.

CAREY HART, PINK`S HUSBAND: It will be fun -

PINK: Yes.

HART: Like the 70ss.

PINK: He`s going to be such a good daddy, too.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. I do hope Pink potty trains her kids. That whole peeing-in- the-face thing is going to be a good selling point when they`re looking for a nanny. I`m just saying.
