Botox Story a Hoax?; Arnold`s Mistress Obsessed with Maria?

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HOST (voice-over): Tonight, it`s a big hoax, the mom who started a fire storm when she claims she gave her 8-year-old daughter Botox now says it`s all a lie.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There seems to be a discrepancy on whether or not we actually got her real name, whether it`s actually Carrie Campbell, whether she lives in San Francisco. That`s what she told us.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: We`ll tell you why she says she did it and whether she has evidence to prove it`s a lie. Could she lose her daughter over all of this?

Plus, is the mother of Arnold`s secret child obsessed with Maria? She reportedly wanted to be her, going as far as wearing her clothing and jewelry.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight, jaw-dropping twist in a case of a mom now infamous for supposedly giving her 8-year-old daughter Botox shots. She now says she made the whole thing up for -- what else? -- money. So, not only did this mom make up, invent this outrageous story, but she got her 8- year-old girl to lie along with her. That`s despicable.

But is the mother telling the truth now about lying? I mean, here she is in photos we got from Radar Online. She certainly looks like she`s injecting something into her daughter`s face. Jeez.

The mom talked to "Good Morning America," claiming the Botox shots gave her daughter an edge at beauty pageants. So did this mom coach her little girl to lie? Very effectively. Listen to this from "GMA."

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I do it, but it hurts sometimes but I get used to it.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We talked about it. She didn`t exactly ask me about it, but I know that she was complaining about her face having wrinkles and things like that.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Next year`s Academy Award winners, people. Oh, and Carrie Campbell isn`t even the mother`s real name. It is Sheena Upton, we think.

The heat`s really on this mom right now. Radar Online reporting Child Protective Services could still remove the woman`s two daughters for good. So what`s worse? Giving a child Botox shots or making up this outrageous story for money and getting your little 8-year-old daughter to go along with the lie and participate in the lie? What do you think? Maxine, this story is just so kooky, crazy. And now the British reporter who did the initial story on this woman says the mother is trying to extort her? What do you know about this?

MAXINE PAGE, SENIOR EDITOR, RADAR ONLINE: The story gets crazier and crazier. The accusations are flying, you know, from side to side.

The reporter that originally did this story is now claiming that she received e-mails from the Botox mom, basically saying, "I want more money from you. And if I don`t receive more money from you, things are going to get nasty."

Now, the implication in that, I guess, is that she`s going to go forward and say that she was told to lie. The story is crazy. Just who knows who`s telling the truth at this point?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes, what a cast of characters. But look at that photo. You can`t blame anybody for -- the actual needle seems to be almost penetrating the child`s face in the photographs.

PAGE: It totally is.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It`s unbelievable. The mother says this all started when the British newspaper, "The Sun," wanted her to play the role of a mom who gave her daughter Botox. And they say she says they paid her $200. Why anybody would do anything for $200 today. I wouldn`t open a door for somebody for $200 today.

Then the mother says she did other interviews for other money. Now, MediaBistro.com is reporting ABC`s "Good Morning America" reportedly offered her $10,000 to license photos of her and her daughter, but they are reportedly not paying her until they find out what the heck`s going on. "GMA" says they`re investigating the mother`s statements and looking into the whole thing.

Now, look at these pictures. This mom is faking injections? It looks so real to me, Wendy Murphy, former prosecutor. I just don`t -- what should happen to this mom, really?

WENDY MURPHY, FORMER PROSECUTOR: I`ll tell you -- I`ll tell you what should happen. She should fly to Massachusetts so I can get a needle and jam her a few times. That`s what I`d like to do. I`m so -- I`m also speechless. But look, let me be clear here.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You? Never.

MURPHY: She has said -- I know. She has said that, oh, no big deal. There was no real botulism in the needle, but she did say she did jab the kid with a real needle. It had saline in it, as if that`s not bodily injury, jabbing your kid with a needle who doesn`t need it because she`s not sick and needs medication. That is neglect -- an act of neglect under California law.

You know what else is neglect? Let me read you this. Exploitation of a child under California law, coercing a child into doing something beyond the kid`s ability in terms of maturity that is degrading.

OK. Make your child lie for money. Exploiting your child for money. Hello! She should lose that child period, end of discussion. I don`t care about the botulism.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, OK. I wouldn`t go so far as she should lose the child completely...

MURPHY: For a few days?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: ... forever.

MURPHY: How about parenting classes?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Because this little girl loves her mother. This woman needs therapy, OK? She`s cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

Here`s my big issue tonight: coached to lie? If this mom is now telling the truth, that means she told her little girl to lie. She taught her little girl to lie to all these people. She coached her on how to lie over and over again.

Now, here`s this daughter on "Inside Edition," answering questions about the Botox injections. Listen to the child.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Are you afraid when you get the shots?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It hurts a little bit?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: She`s convincing. I would have believed her. She is an actress.

But what kind of message does this send to the child, how psychologically damaging is it, Robi Ludwig, psychotherapist, to teach a child to lie that effectively?

ROBI LUDWIG, PSYCHOTHERAPIST: It`s awful, and it sounds a lot like the Balloon Boy situation.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Oh, yes.

LUDWIG: Where you have a deranged parent who`s looking for fame, attention, is enjoying the limelight and duping other people. And kids want to please their parents. And kids can lie. And I think it`s very important for the public to realize this. Just because a child is convincing, it doesn`t necessarily mean they`re telling the truth.

It`s a very dangerous situation we`re seeing, and we also -- exists within a culture that seems very willing to buy into these bizarre stories without checking them out. And I think we need to check out our stories better.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, the girl`s very convincing. You see the video of -- of the actual needle appears to be piercing -- it looks like it is piercing the skin. I mean, that`s pretty darn convincing. There`s dots all over her face. The girl looks like she`s getting something painful.

Now, you brought up Balloon Boy

LUDWIG: Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And that was a classic hoax. The dad taught his kid to lie, but there was a big difference, because little Falcon, remember that? I always remember that name. Little Falcon couldn`t keep up the lie during an interview with Wolf Blitzer. Let`s go down Memory Lane.

RICHARD HEENE, HOAXER: Did you hear us calling your name at any time?

FALCON HEENE, RICHARD`S SON: Mm-hmm.

R. HEENE: You did?

MAYUMI HEENE, RICHARD`S WIFE: You did?

R. HEENE: Why didn`t you come out?

F. HEENE: You said that we did this for a show.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Oops. Ha. Busted. We all remember that moment when Falcon told Wolf, "We did this for the show." But, of course, that`s a younger child. It looks like he -- I can`t remember his exact age, but this girl doesn`t have those problems. She doesn`t spill the beans, and she keeps it going.

And then remember these cases. These cases where you had runaway mom. That`s runaway bride right there, and we all know about her. And right before that, you saw the woman who had spilled acid on her face, her own face, just to get plastic surgery.

So obviously, these are people who really enjoy -- they seem to enjoy the lying. They seem to really relish and live the lie. And Wendy Murphy, I know if you could prosecute all these people, you`d probably throw them away for life, right?

MURPHY: Well, no, but I mean, you can`t make light of lies of this magnitude, and exploiting a child makes the lie ultimately different. I don`t care if adults lie and do self-exploitation for money. These people are not cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, Jane. They`re greedy for Grape Nuts. It`s different.

And when you do...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You can be both. Sometimes the cereal gets mixed. Hold up for one second.

MURPHY: OK.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: I want to go to Janelle from Florida. Janelle, you`ve been waiting. Your question or thought.

CALLER: Thanks for taking my call.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Sure.

CALLER: I do think this is a form of declaration, that she lied about it and she shows the pictures, which looks like the young lady is in pain. And I think it`s -- I think it`s a horrible story. And I think that she is trying to get her 15 minutes of fame. And as I watch the picture, I think it`s very much neglect on the part of the mother.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And I think you`re making excellent points.

Maxine Page, the last word. What`s the status now? We heard some reports that claim that she may be back with her mom, because Mom admitted it`s a lie? What do we know?

PAGE: At the moment, as far as we`re aware, she is back with her mother. There`s an investigation pending.

I mean, I think an important thing is, though, in her sworn declaration, she said she was paid to lie by "The Sun." This story actually ran in an English magazine weeks before "The Sun" published it. So, yes, her sworn statement is a lie, too.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: That`s true, and that`s what "The Sun" said in her own defense. So who knows where her lies began?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A ruined reputation, a ruined marriage and a ruined career. Tonight, Arnold Schwarzenegger`s Hollywood comeback, officially over as his had sex scandal spins totally out of control. Arnold has asked his agent to put all of his acting projects on hold while he deals with, quote unquote, "personal matters," a.k.a., the outing of his secret son.

Maria was seen out in Los Angeles yesterday having lunch with her kids. She`s supposedly retained a very, very powerful hotshot divorce attorney, but a lot of people are saying she`s still on the fence about divorcing him. Really?

We`re also learning that Arnold`s former mistress/housekeeper, Patty - - Patty Baena, may have been interested in more than just the Terminator himself.

LEVIN: Everything was about being like Maria. She wanted to use the marital bed when she fooled around with Arnold and would crawl into that bed when Maria took the kids to school. So it was a crazy situation that she talked openly to friends about. This was not a discrete woman. This woman is a little bit off.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I think everybody is a little off in this situation.

Here`s Patty on MySpace. We obtained her son`s birth certificate, and we learned she and Maria were pregnant at approximately the same time. At the same time. Arnold`s son with Patty was born days after his half- brother, Christopher Schwarzenegger. Can you say bizarre?

Radar Online is now reporting Maria suspected for a long time that Arnold was the father of Patty`s son. Maria finally confronted Patty about it, and she fessed up. After that, Maria confronted Arnold, and he reluctantly came clean, as well.

So how long had Maria been suspicious? It`s still mind-boggling to me that this explosive secret existed under wraps in their home for 13 years.

Meanwhile, swarms of media staked out at Patty`s house in Bakersfield, California. There it is. Her neighbors in total disbelief that the family next door is in the middle of this firestorm.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I know her son or the little blond-haired kid, Arnold Schwarzenegger`s kid, was definitely here swimming at this pool, which is crazy.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Straight out to executive producer of TMZ, Charles Latibeaudiere.

Charles, what`s this about Patty being obsessed with Maria?

CHARLES LATIBEAUDIERE, EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, TMZ: Actually, Jane, if you`ve ever seen the movie "Single White Female," it`s very similar to that. Also, like "Hand that Rocks the Cradle."

She wanted to be Maria. She told friends that she thought Maria was beautiful and successful and felt like she could be those things as well. She would -- we`re told she would actually go into Maria`s closet, take out clothes. She would wear them around. She`d wear jewelry. In fact, at one point...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: According to who?

LATIBEAUDIERE: According to people who know -- know Patty, said that she talked about this for years, about how she really admired Maria and wanted to be Maria. In fact she even said that she even felt like she was a better wife to Arnold than Maria was, because she was always around doing things for him, making his breakfast and washing his clothes. Now, keep in mind, that was her job, but clearly...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And doing certain other things, too.

LATIBEAUDIERE: Yes. The lines were definitely blurred.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Here`s my big issue. I love TMZ, and I`m not casting aspersions on you guys, but I do find it strange that we always seem to blame the woman. Oh, Patty`s a home-wrecker. Patty is obsessed with Maria. Once again, a powerful man gets busted for cheating and having a secret son, and everybody attacks the mistress? Check this out from "The View."

JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST, ABC`S "THE VIEW": I expected her to look like a beauty, and she doesn`t.

BEHAR: Well, people did. She was overweight. What does he see in her? How come he would take a chance with a girl...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Girls, why are they blaming the woman? He is the -- we all know any star in Hollywood can have sex around the clock if they want to. Women are constantly throwing themselves at them.

LATIBEAUDIERE: I will -- I will actually agree with something that the ladies of "The View" said there, that if this were a strikingly beautiful woman, that the reaction would probably be a little bit different.

But not at all. I don`t think people are only blasting Patty on this. I mean, Arnold clearly has to take much of the claim for this. To have someone, your housekeeper, and to be carrying on this affair in your own house, in the bed where you sleep with your wife.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: I say he has to take 99.999 percent of the blame. But Charles, I love you, dude. Say hi to Harvey.

LATIBEAUDIERE: No, no, no, no, no, 99.9 percent? Come on.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: A brutal beating at L.A.`s Dodgers Stadium, oh, you won`t believe. We`re going to talk to the family.

LARRY KING, FORMER CNN HOST: Do you think that your life -- you`re famous, your husband`s famous -- is, in many respects, our business?

SHRIVER: I think a certain amount of it is people`s business, but I think that there is kind of a place that it stops. I don`t think that people really need to know what`s going on in people`s homes. I don`t think people really need to know if, you know, you`re having problems in your marriage or trouble with your kids.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Two leading members of the California Democratic Party now want Arnold Schwarzenegger investigated for possible misuse of public funds. They say they`re very concerned about the 13-year-long cover-up, not so much the affair or the secret child but the cover-up. Every dollar Arnold ever gave Patty and their son is going to be scrutinized.

We know, as governor, Schwarzenegger was constantly jetting back and forth from the governor`s mansion to Los Angeles. Nick Summers, senior reporter of "Newsweek," does he have anything to worry about legally?

NICK SUMMERS, SENIOR REPORTER, "NEWSWEEK": Yes, it`s possible. You know, any time that there`s this amount of money involved, even if she was only getting a small amount, when you multiply it out over as long a period as 13 years, it can really add up.

It`s sort of reminiscent of the John Edwards scandal, where he was -- he had Rielle Hunter on the campaign payroll in sort of a weird job and getting paid a lot of money for a task that wasn`t, strictly speaking, all that necessary, and a parallel investigation into whether donors to John Edwards, in general, were also giving money to her as a sideline, sort of a novel area of campaign finance law. This is just starting for Schwarzenegger.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: But in this case, is it going to be tax dollars or campaign funds or a combination of both?

SUMMERS: We`re just getting started. This thing is not going to stop. There are a lot of issues here legally that people are going to want to look into.

And, you know, also driving this forward, I think there -- it`s safe to assume that there are going to be more women coming forward, sort of shades of the Tiger -- problems that Tiger Woods had. You know, there were lots of stories that came out during his first campaign, woman after woman after woman saying that he was behaving in an aggressive way. You know, I don`t know if anyone was speculating there are further love children out there, but there are going to be other women who sort of keep this in the news and in prime political capital for an investigation.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. You heard it right there from "Newsweek." More women are expected to come forward. We have no independent confirmation, but it would certainly make a whole lot of sense.

Sharon in Connecticut, your thought or question, ma`am?

CALLER: Hi, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Hi.

CALLER: Harvey Levin mentioned that the child is a dead ringer for Arnold. What I was wondering is in 13 years, the child must have been around the family at some time. And how did anybody else in the family not see the resemblance or did the women hide this kid away?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, apparently, Wendy Murphy, there were reports that the child would appear in the household, which makes sense. This woman was a housekeeper for 20 years, and ten of which the child was around.

MURPHY: Yes, I mean, look, we haven`t exactly seen the child`s face. But if she`s blond, she`s a Latino woman. If it`s a blond kid with a big square head, I mean, I don`t mean to be funny about this, but sometimes things are obvious. And maybe -- maybe people did know in the family, and this was all more of a well-kept secret in a small group of people and not so much just a secret between Arnold and the maid.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes, well, by the way, there are blond Latinos. My sister is one of them, but I agree with you...

MURPHY: I mean...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: ... she doesn`t look, you know, like somebody who would have that child.

All that is coming up, but first: "Top of the Block" tonight. Somewhere in New York right now there is one very lucky Frenchman. After being arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a hotel maid, Dominique Strauss-Kahn is out on bail. Yes it cost him a couple million bucks in cash and bond but does anybody seriously believe that would be free if he wasn`t an international big wig? Even his own lawyer decided to drop a few names while pleading his case.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Boo-hoo-hoo. I don`t care who he was or going to visit this guy. His lawyer also said that this guy, known as DSK, wasn`t a flight risk because he is, quote, "an honorable man". Oh, really? An honorable man, not a flight risk? They arrested him on an airplane. Ok? Just a few minutes later, he would have been up in the air headed to France. At least the judge made him surrender his passport. Thank God.

Still, he has to say au revoir Riker`s and is now living it up at his posh Manhattan apartment. Score one for money and power.

There were allegations against perhaps the grandfather was very chilling to me to see the babysitter pulled into this as kind of a smoke screen, being used as pawn. That is not what -- that`s not what a normal parent does.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight, gripping moments in the Casey Anthony murder trial as one prospective juror spills her guts. You just heard it. No surprise, that woman not on the jury.

So just how did jury selection go today? You would think after yesterday`s shocking midday adjournment, we would be way behind. But guess what; Judge Perry had a plan. Things are sort of back on track.

Just hours ago, he brought in a whole new panel of prospects. That sounds good, right? Well, there`s a slight problem. Those new prospects have now been exposed to all the pre-trial publicity and the publicity about the publicity. So are these jurors considered tainted?

BRENER: I don`t know that they are anymore tainted from pre-trial publicity about the case. They may now have the "right answers", quote- unquote, because they know what questions are going to be asked if they`ve been watching this unfold.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. So, will there be stealth jurors who want to get on this trial and pretend that they are totally objective, just so they can get on the trial and find her guilty? Moreover can Casey get a fair trial?

Straight out to Jean Casarez, correspondent with "In Session"; Jean, what`s the count? Where are we? I know court is finished for the day. Where do we stand?

JEAN CASAREZ, CORRESPONDENT, "IN SESSION": There are 16; that`s how many they have. But they still have strikes left so it may not be the final group, but we are getting very close. The judge wants a jury as soon as possible. They can have the courthouse, the courtroom on Saturday, if need be, but on Sunday, he says, he want the jurors transported to Orlando for next week.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right, so -- here`s what I have to understand. How many more jurors do they have to bring in before they start striking or could they first thing tomorrow morning strike some and then go back to, let`s say 10 or 9?

CASAREZ: You know in theory, that`s such an easy question, but in reality, that`s tough question. He says he wants to swear in 12 at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon, but the fact is both sides have some more strikes of the 12 and that means alternates would go in there and they don`t want to strike anybody until they get the full panel.

So I think it`s up in the air at this point, as it always is every day when we talk about this.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Yes or no, is -- are opening statements going to start Monday in your opinion, Jean Casarez? Yes or no?

CASAREZ: Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes? Ok. You said yes. All right. Well, you`re an expert.

I`m going to get ready for Monday morning, that`s for sure. I`m going to bed early Sunday night.

Casey`s former lawyer, Linda Kenney-Baden, made headlines when she said Casey`s nanny story was a lie. Ok. She said that on CBS. Casey`s current lawyer, Jose Baez, made headlines when he said he will explain it all in the first minute of opening statements.

JOSE BAEZ, DEFENSE LAWYER OF CASEY ANTHONY: That question will be answered within -- within the first minute of me standing up for opening statements. And it will be put to rest for good.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Ok. So Jose says he is going to explain the dirty dancing, the not telling cops, getting the "beautiful life" tattoo while the daughter`s missing in the first couple of minutes of opening statements, which could happen on Monday. Casey`s other lawyer, Cheney Mason, says expect some jaw droppers.

And this is my big issue. What is the jaw-dropping new defense?

We are delighted to welcome Linda Kenney-Baden, extraordinary defense attorney, used to be on the defense team. We have you there on tape saying -- basically we all know Zanny is a lie. You`re not telling us anything we don`t know but it`s pretty amazing coming from you. So I want to ask you, what`s the new strategy?

KENNEY-BADEN: First of all, I don`t think there was any news flash in that, that`s what I thought certainly before I got in the case. The question is why, why would somebody say that? That is what we are going to probably hear from Jose.

I can`t give you the strategy and I would suggest to you it is not new. I would suggest to you it has just been probably well-kept by the defense and we know from the raid on Osama bin Laden, we know from Arnold Schwarzenegger, people can keep secrets these days, even though we think not.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Really?

KENNEY-BADEN: Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: So this is an explosive secret? Wait until Monday. Go ahead.

KENNEY-BADEN: The other thing is that you know -- it`s interesting that the whole burden of proof thing has been switched. Now, Jose Baez has to explain the defense.

You know, what they have spent weeks now doing with this jury -- who the judge thought they could get in one week which everyone said was impossible -- is to see whether or not they have prejudged the case and whether or not there`s a burden of proof. Van they rely on the prosecution`s burden of proof? Now they are saying the defense has a burden of proof and I think that`s the reality of any criminal case and finally, it`s coming out.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Nanette, Pennsylvania, your question or thought, ma`am?

NANETTE, PENNSYLVANIA (via telephone): Hello?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Nanette.

Nanette: Yes, I`m sorry. Hi, how are you?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Good.

NANETTE: My question is, Jane, really in reference to something you said earlier when you were on with Vinnie Politan and you were saying that Judge Perry was rushing this jury selection process through?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Good point. Go back to Linda. Ok, finish your thought.

NANETTE: My thought is that he is probably doing -- my mom always said bad news travels fast and I think that he is probable rushing it along so that this potential jury, you know, Pinellas County won`t be tainted. You know.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Ok. Good question. Linda Kenney-Baden, do you think he is moving too fast and hell bent on getting any jury seated when we really want a jury that can be objective?

KENNEY-BADEN: I think that the judge certainly has valid reasons to try to push along. Having said that however, it is like being in the middle of the Super Bowl and the goal post changed. Or the other team scores and you find that they get eight points instead of six points for a touchdown.

Usually, when you go into jury selection, Jane, you know how many people you have to pick. The judge is not telling we`re going to swear the first 12. And then he`s not going to change -- you know, he is changing things every day.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Is that appealable?

KENNEY-BADEN: Yes. Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: If she is convicted?

KENNEY-BADEN: Yes, absolutely appealable at this point, because what the defense is saying, look, usually, you seat the whole jury panel, you select 40 people because you`re going to seat 20 is what he first told them, each side has 10 challenges. And so you select 40 and start your strikes. This time, he did not do that even with regards to the strikes he has. Remember there are four strikes and for the defense --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Wait a second. When you say it`s appealable, what I mean is if she is convicted but could you appeal it before that? Like before Monday?

KENNEY-BADEN: You could. You could, but it is called an interlocutory appeal and that simply does not happen in Florida. It just won`t happen.

(CROSSTALK)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Let ask you this, very quickly. Is this shocking new defense going to focus on Casey`s dad, George?

KENNEY-BADEN: I cannot, I have to let Jose answer with the defense. And I would suspect it`s not going to be shocking new defense.

Jose said he is going to explain it. You said he`s a good lawyer. I`m expecting to hear a fabulous opening statement -- actually from both sides I`m expecting to hear a fabulous opening statement. But I`m going to wait and judge it in the courtroom starting Monday.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Well, I have got a new theory.

KENNEY-BADEN: You do? Ok.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Meter reader Roy Kronk, I think he is going to take some hits in Jose`s opening statements. That`s all I can say right now. But I don`t really have a crystal ball here, so what do I know?

KENNEY-BADEN: Neither do I.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Thank you so much.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: An entire family shattered by completely, totally, utterly senseless violence. After a father of two attended a Dodgers/Giants baseball game, he was brutally beaten into a coma. Police said that after the game, Bryan Stow, who was innocently wearing Giants gear, which is why he was heckled and then viciously attacked from behind by two men wearing Dodgers` clothing. All this happened right in the parking lot after the game.

Now these two -- these are sketches -- beat him so badly, they fractured his skull. And in a very eerie twist, his cousin says Bryan Texted him earlier that evening and said the crowd was getting unruly and even scary. Although Bryan was just transferred to a hospital in San Francisco, his condition remains critical tonight.

DR. GEOFF MANLEY, CHIEF OF NEUROSURGERY: Bryan Stow remains in critical condition. We just don`t know right now. We are treating him as if he will make a recovery. We are being very aggressive. We have leaving no stone unturned but time will tell. And again this will be a day by day process.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Joining me tonight in an issues exclusive are Bryan`s mom and sister, Ann and Bonnie Stow. First of all, thank you for coming on. My heart goes out to both of you. Thank you for taking the time to speak to me. I hope that somehow, this triggers something in somebody`s mind -- hundreds of people saw this -- that they catch the people that did this to your son and brother.

How is Bryan doing right now? And I`ll send that question out to Ann.

ANN STOW, MOTHER OF BRYAN STOW: Day by day, I really think he is getting better. He is actually opening his eyes. He is not tracking, so opening his eyes, he is still in an unconscious state but he does open his eyes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Wow. When you say he is not tracking that means he is not looking around and receiving? Tell me.

A. STOW: Right. He is not looking around, but he opens his eyes and stares straight ahead, so he is not really focused on anything. But they are taking that as a good sign.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Bonnie Snow (SIC), you`re the sister of Bryan Stow. I understand -- I know this is a difficult question if he survives and we pray he does that he could suffer permanent brain damage?

BONNIE STOW, SISTER OF BRYAN STOW: That`s right. We still don`t -- I don`t think there is a question on him surviving; he is past that point now.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Good. Good.

B. STOW: So it is just a matter of what he will be, if and when he wakes up.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Let`s talk a little bit about the events that awful night. No cameras in the stadium parking lot caught the attack on camera and also getting sober witnesses has proved to be a real challenge.

Now, cops say some fans were drinking so heavily at this game that they were boasting about having witnessed the attack but the attack really wasn`t happening in their eyesight. So we really don`t even know who saw the attack, but we know that it was a parking lot filled with people leaving the game. So, hundreds of people did see.

A couple of questions, Ann: A, I know some of his friends did try to intervene and were also set upon. But does it strike you as unbelievable that hundreds of people could be watching this and that somehow, they couldn`t, like, nail these guys and catch them and hold them down?

A. STOW: I find -- I find that really hard to believe that, you know, we were told that people probably didn`t know the severity of the attack. Probably thought it was just a brawl of some sort. And I`m not sure, at one point they thought that somebody needed to step in and pull this guy away from my son. I guess Bryan was standing back and his friend had gotten ahead of him when he was hit from behind and it was just a brutal attack, because whatever -- whatever that guy hit my son with, Bryan was unconscious before he had hit the ground.

So, he had no way to protect his head, his forehead just hit the concrete. So unfortunately, that`s where the most of the damage is but I`m just really upset that nobody stepped in before all that happened. And nobody had -- took pictures or anything or followed these guys, so the police are working very hard. I have to give them a lot of credit.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: But I do have to wonder Bonnie, why no cameras that would hone in. In this day and age, every inch of this stadium parking lot should have been covered.

B. STOW: I agree. I was just going to say that. In this day and age, where everything is technology, there`s something out there. We`re just waiting for it hopefully from this point on, the Dodgers Stadium will fix their part of it but people need to step forward with their cameras.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. When we come back, we are going to focus in on these individuals, they`re trying to find everywhere across Los Angeles. There are wanted posters for these two individuals. We are going to try to help find them right now.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Here`s my big issue tonight: mindless, senseless, utterly without any reason, violence. This 42-year-old Bryan Stow simply goes to a game and he happens to be wearing the regalia of the opposing team from the home team and he`s beaten into a pulp. A regular guy like Bryan Stow can`t even attend a baseball game, America`s pastime, without the fear of extreme bodily harm.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: There are posters all over Los Angeles with this sketch. Take a good look. These are the two individuals they are looking for. Police say they`ve gotten more than 600 leads -- 600 leads. They also think a female wearing a number 16 Dodgers jersey was driving the getaway car.

So Bonnie, what are cops telling your family about the hunt for these two attackers? Do they have a type of car? Do they think that these guys are regulars to the stadium that may have some kind of credit card information on file? What do they know?

B. STOW: I don`t know. They haven`t shared anything with us that you guys don`t know.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Ann, somebody`s got to know something out there. Usually people are not going to do something like this unless they are in an alcoholic blackout and they don`t remember what they did the next day without saying something to somebody. What would you tell somebody who knows something about what they should do?

A. STOW: If somebody has information that will lead the police to these two individuals, you have got to come forward. I`m not only angry with the two that attacked my son, but there was a woman in a car with a 10-year-old boy. I am so angry with her right now. If that was her son -- she got to spend Mother`s Day with her son. I was in ICU with my son who was on a ventilator with half his skull missing. That was my Mother`s Day.

So I am really angry with her. And again, we don`t think it was Dodger fans. We think it`s gang-related. Our understanding is gang members dress up in Dodger uniforms. And I think it -- we won`t know until they are caught, but it was just, I think, a random act of violence against somebody who was wearing Giants colors.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And I am sure alcohol and/or drugs were involved because it usually is when you see senseless violence.

Now I want to talk about Bryan. He`s a paramedic. He`s a proud father of two children. They, of course, are the youngest victims in this absolute nightmare. How are the kids doing, Bonnie?

B. STOW: They are doing ok. They haven`t seen their dad yet. Their mom has been very honest with them and has told them his condition and the possible outcome. So they are handling it fairly good. Time will tell when they see their dad and it sinks in. But for now, they are doing good.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I know you are very stoic and strong, but I can tell that underneath that is a lot of suffering.

So if you know anything about this case, please, I am begging you, come forward. These guys need to face justice. Thank you so much, Ann and Bonnie.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Heartbreaking news just in about actor Jeff Conaway. After years battling drug and alcohol addiction, Jeff`s manager announced today that Jeff is virtually comatose.

Eight days ago, the "Grease" and "Taxi" actor was discovered unconscious from an overdose of painkillers and was rushed to the hospital. He apparently was unconscious for eight or nine hours before he was found.

Now, I`ve known Jeff since we were both little kids. And as a recovering alcoholic myself, I know how difficult it is to struggle with addiction. My heart goes out to Jeff and his family. I love you guys. We are hoping for the best.

Dr. Drew who has worked with Jeff will have so much more on this very sad story at 9:00 eastern.
