Aired September 16, 2011 - 20:00   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Breaking news tonight. Season 13, "Dancing With the Stars." Tonight, "Dancing With the Stars" host Tom Bergeron, co-host and dancing champion Brooke Burke -- they`re here and taking your calls. Also with us, dancing champions, Emmitt Smith, Drew Lachey, Kristi Yamaguchi and "Dancing" contestants Lisa Rinna, Kendra Wilkinson, Meecie Nash (ph), Joanna Krupa, and my dancing partner, Irishman Tristan MacManus.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: MacGrace.

TRISTAN MACMANUS, NANCY`S PARTNER: When I was told Nancy was my partner, I was -- I was more like, Grand.

GRACE: Why is he stuttering. What do you know about the cha-cha?

GRACE: I know two, three, cha-cha.

MACMANUS: So you know nothing about cha-cha.

(CROSSTALK)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Is there any point where you said to yourself, Maybe this wasn`t such a good idea?

MACMANUS: There`s going to be exceptions where there`s more than just two, three, cha-cha-cha.

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: How did that happen?

MACMANUS: It hasn`t happened yet.

GRACE: OK. No, don`t jinx it, for Pete`s sake! No!

MACMANUS: Very determined.

GRACE: My shoulders do not go back.

MACMANUS: Well, your wrist (INAUDIBLE)

GRACE: We never mentioned wrists.

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: Case closed.

MACMANUS: All right, we`re back in the courtroom.

GRACE: Let me just focus on the cha-cha.

MACMANUS: I suppose I`m a bit of a joker.

GRACE: All I know how to do is try a murder case and put a bad guy behind bars.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Good evening. I`m Nancy Grace. I want to thank you for being with us tonight. Season 13, "Dancing With the Stars" is going to kick off in just few days. We are taking your calls live.

Let`s go straight out to Tom Bergeron, host of "Dancing With the Stars." Tom, you`ve seen a lot of dancers come and go. What do you make of season 13?

TOM BERGERON, HOST, "DANCING WITH THE STARS": Well, I`ve yet to see - - with the exception of looking at this video here -- of anybody dance, so I have great hopes. I have great hopes and no opinions.

GRACE: You know, since the first season of the show, do you believe that competition has gotten even more intense as the show has progressed over the years?

BERGERON: Yes, I think so. I think as we`ve sort of built a history and other people have watched the previous competitors, they have a bit more of a sense of what they`re getting into. The professionals all want to top the dances that won the previous year. So I think the bar does rise as we go from one season to the next.

GRACE: OK, Tom, critical question. Did you know that there`s a difference between a ballroom shoe and a Latin shoe? Why do the men get to dance around in little flats and the women get tortured?

BERGERON: Well, I don`t know. I`m wearing -- I`m wearing very comfortable shoes myself. I would say...

GRACE: I don`t think that`s your foot!

BERGERON: ... these are hosting shoes.

GRACE: I don`t think that`s your foot!

BERGERON: That is my foot. That`s my foot!

GRACE: So not your foot!

BERGERON: I`m very, very flexible, Nancy.

GRACE: OK. Joining me right now -- OK, you know, I`m going to hold comment on that. Joining me right now is a star we have all seen on the screen, Lisa Rinna, semi-finalist, "Dancing With the Seasons" -- "Dancing With the Stars" season two. Lisa, thank you for being with us.

LISA RINNA, SEMI-FINALIST SEASON 2: Thanks for having me, Nancy. I think you`re fantastic. I can`t wait to see you dance!

GRACE: Lisa, thank you. I appreciate that. But withhold judgment until I get through the cha-cha, OK, which I now learn it`s the cha-cha- cha. Now, Lisa, help me out. Give me some dancing tips.

RINNA: Oh, Nancy, you have to have fun. The best advice I can give you is...

GRACE: If one more person says "Have fun" -- I mean, I`m dancing around in these things for six hours a day while somebody is...

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: It`s not always fun. And did your instructor ever yell at you? What`s that?

RINNA: Well, I had Louis Van Amstel (ph). I had Louis Van Amstel, and yes, he did yell at me. And I would be in tears, absolute tears. But I needed it. It was worth it. He needed to kick my butt. He absolutely did.

GRACE: Well, look at you dance! Wow! We`re showing clips of you right now. Well, Lisa Rinna, I just was minding my own business the other day, walking across the dance floor, and all of a sudden, I hear from behind me, No, no, no! Somebody`s clapping at me and yelling at me. It was my dance instructor. He said, You keep missing the third step. I got a problem in that I can`t understand anything he`s saying most of the time. That`s going to be a problem, huh, Lisa?

RINNA: Well, I couldn`t understand anything Louis Van Amstel said, either. But after a while, I just nodded my head and did what he wanted. But it is a little bit humiliating at first, I have to say, having another man yell at you besides your husband.

BERGERON: Can I get in here?

GRACE: Hey, joining me...

BERGERON: Can I just point out...

GRACE: OK, jump. Jump!

BERGERON: Nancy -- Nancy, I know this is your show. This might be...

GRACE: No! No! No!

BERGERON: ... bad form for me to point this out. You`re very whiny.

GRACE: What!

BERGERON: You`re already very whiny. We haven`t even started this -- I mean, for Pete`s sake! Right, Tristan? I mean, poor Tristan!

GRACE: And listen, Tristan, you got to put up with me tomorrow, so watch what you say!

MACMANUS: Well, it`s nice to know that I`m not the only one screaming and shouting. But like I said, it`s all...

GRACE: He`s not even denying it.

MACMANUS: ... for your benefit...

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: You care about my feet. Joining me right now, Drew Lachey, the winner of "Dancing With the Stars" season 2. Hi, Drew. Thanks for being with us.

DREW LACHEY, WINNER, SEASON 2: My pleasure. Thanks for having me.

GRACE: OK, Drew, think back. Go back in time. What was your favorite dance?

LACHEY: For me, other than the freestyle, it was probably the paso doble. Absolutely.

GRACE: The what?

LACHEY: The paso doble. It`s the matador dance (INAUDIBLE)

GRACE: OK, nobody`s thrown that at me yet. Oh, OK. I`ll be ready for that. What`s freestyle?

LACHEY: The freestyle is if you get to the finals, it`s freestyle is what you have to do. It`s your own dance, your own music. There`s no rules. You can do lifts, all the fun stuff. That`s where you either win or you lose the competition.

GRACE: We`re seeing you dance right now. You`re good!

OK, let`s go out to the lines. Sonya in Oklahoma. Hi, Sonya. What`s your question?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hi, Nancy. I love you. Your show is my very favorite show. "Dancing With the Stars" is my second favorite. And I`m so glad you`re going to be on.

GRACE: Thank you. Did you hear that, Bergeron? Did you hear the order of that? Just want to make sure you heard that.

BERGERON: That`s right. I suspect these calls were screened beforehand.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Not a chance!

GRACE: To put it euphemistically. OK, Sonya, what`s...

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: Bergeron keeps interrupting!

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I know. God bless you and your twins.

GRACE: Thank you.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And Nancy, I`m a -- I`m a twin also. But Nancy, I want to know how in the world you can dance in those tall shoes. I can`t even walk in them!

GRACE: Well, there is one guest tonight that will tell you that I`m not dancing very well in these shoes. But you know what? It`s really that and being away from the twins while I practice because, typically, I`m with them during the day and then I go to work at night. And now I`m practicing all day.

But I got a funny story for your. Every day, usually, the twins will come pick me up from practice, and Lucy always insists that we put on her arial (ph) swimsuit -- I don`t know why -- and dance. Somehow, she`s connected those in her head.

So you know, it`s hard, but the hardest part is not these shoes, the hardest part is being away from them for long hours of training.

Joining me right now, Kristi Yamaguchi. We all know her as the Olympic gold medallist, "New York Times" best-selling author, but "Dancing With the Stars" season six winner. Wow! What a pleasure to meet you and to have you on tonight. Give me some dancing advice, Kristi!

KRISTI YAMAGUCHI, WINNER, SEASON 6: Oh, dancing advice! OK, I won`t tell you to have fun anymore. But you know, it`s just go for it. I think you`re learning so much in such a short period of time. It`s all about kind of getting prepared and knowing, OK, Monday, Monday, that`s the day I want to be ready.

So you know, for the cha-cha, I`m sure, you know, you know what you`re doing. Just move those hips. And you know, honestly, it kind of is about having fun and bringing the audience in and entertaining them.

GRACE: Well, you know, Kristi, now that I`ve kind of got the steps down in the cha-cha, it actually has become a lot of fun. It really is. What was your favorite dance?

YAMAGUCHI: I think my favorite dance was the jive. It scared me the most, and I thought I was going to be terrible on it, but it ended up being -- you know, it`s a fun character to the whole music and theme of it, so that was pretty fun for me.

GRACE: Everybody, we are taking your calls. Out to Amy in New Jersey. Hi, Amy. What`s your question?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hi, Nancy. I just wanted to know if you did anything special to prepare for "Dancing With the Stars."

GRACE: Well, I prayed a lot after I found out I was doing the cha- cha-cha. Special? I guess the most special thing I`m doing is practicing about five or six hours a day. And I`m just trying to learn and watching over and over and over other people dancing. Although, the other day, my dancing partner -- please put MacManus up -- took it upon himself to show me video of international ballroom stars, and then he made me watch a clip of me dancing.

And I don`t know what kind of a hellish technique that was to try to help me. What was your thinking behind that, Tristan?

MACMANUS: I mean, I need to give you a perspective of where we want to be. Yes. I think that`s it. I mean, you`re doing great. You`re saying a lot of negative things about me. I don`t know what (INAUDIBLE) But you`re doing great. So I`m just trying to push you as much as I can. Just be a little bit nicer to me, please.

GRACE: OK. I`ll try, Tristan. Hey, Tristan. Question. I know you`re supposed to be impartial, but what`s your favorite dance?

MACMANUS: Again, you know, I`m impartial. I like them all. Cha-cha is me favorite dance.

GRACE: OK, Tristan...

(CROSSTALK)

MACMANUS: ... going to be special. Yes?

GRACE: Tell us how you ended up on "Dancing With the Stars." I know you`re from Brae (ph), Ireland. I know you`ve danced since you were a young boy. I know that you quit to play football. You went back to dancing. And you went all the way to the world championships in Latvia. So how did you end up in LA on "Dancing With the Stars"?

MACMANUS: At the time -- I was actually contacted first when I was working in London. And at that time, I`d already agreed to do the previous, show so I couldn`t do it that season. And then they contacted me a couple of months later when I was here in America, and it worked out with the timing, so I joined the show then.

GRACE: Now, Tristan, remember, if I fall while we`re dancing, all you have to do is just take your shirt off!

MACMANUS: No! You take your shirt off!

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: (INAUDIBLE) coveted mirror (ph) ball (ph) trophy...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Nancy Grace.

MACMANUS: There`s a certain amount of excitement that`s going around.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She is the star they most want to see dancing.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Is on the new season of "Dancing With the Stars."

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You did admit to one fear.

GRACE: I don`t know anything about dancing. I just hope that I don`t fall because they didn`t teach dancing in law school.

I need some advice.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You know what? Just go out there and have fun.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You may have heard the exciting news about Nancy Grace.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She`s a former prosecutor turned crime commentator courtroom queen, Nancy Grace!

GRACE: Tristan MacManus, thanks a lot for being with us. I understand you`ve come up with a team name. And what would that be?

MACMANUS: Yes. The team name I came up with is MacGrace.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

GRACE: Little known fact. When I came out on that stage when I was wearing that black dress, I almost tripped on the way out. So just keep that in mind when I finally get to dance on Monday night.

We are taking your calls about kicking off season 13 of "Dancing With the Stars." Joining me right now is contestant, season 12, star and author of "Being Kendra," Kendra Wilkinson. Hi, Kendra. Thanks for being with us.

KENDRA WILKINSON, CONTESTANT, SEASON 12 (via telephone): Hi, Nancy. Thanks for having me. I`m a huge fan of yours.

GRACE: Likewise. I watched you all the way through. I read all the stories about your little boy and how you had to be away from him when you were practicing. Now, how did that work out?

WILKINSON: Oh, it was really, really hard. But you know what? It was perfect timing. If it would have been any earlier, I don`t think I would have been able to do it. But I think I was at the right stage, the baby was at the right stage, and you know, it was just a perfect time to have -- it was a perfect time to have some of me time, you know? And I got out there and I just...

GRACE: OK, wait a minute. Wait a minute, Kendra.

(CROSSTALK)

WILKINSON: ... losing weight...

GRACE: Hold on!

WILKINSON: What?

GRACE: Kendra, what is "me time"? What is that? Because I don`t think I`ve had any of that in three-and-a-half years since the twins came. How do you get "me time"?

WILKINSON: Oh, man, you know, it`s -- you know, of course, you know, I mean, having a baby, I mean, it`s hard to, you know, really force yourself to go out there, and you know, do something for yourself.

GRACE: Whoa! Wait a minute. Wait a minute, Kendra! I think -- I think -- where are your pants? Because this outfit you have on -- there`s really -- did you actually dance without pants?

WILKINSON: Are you talking about the yellow outfit?

GRACE: That would be the one.

WILKINSON: Oh, yes. That was the samba. It was definitely my favorite dance. So make sure you get the samba. You cannot make one mistake with the samba.

GRACE: But if I do get that far, I will be wearing pants.

WILKINSON: You will...

GRACE: OK? I`m just going to put that out there tonight.

WILKINSON: You will get that far. You will -- you will get that far because you`re going to have my vote. You`re going to have my -- all my fan votes. You`re going to have everybody. I have my team Nancy gear ready to go. Trust me. And I will be sporting it.

GRACE: I need all the help I can get. PS, callers, please feel free to call in with dancing tips.

Now joining me, Emmitt Smith, winner of season three, author of "Game On: Find Your Purpose, Pursue Your Dream." He is the NFL all-time leading rusher, three-time Super Bowl champion, Emmitt Smith. Emmitt, thank you for being with us.

EMMITT SMITH, WINNER, SEASON 3 (via telephone): Thank you, Nancy. How are you doing?

GRACE: Well, my feet -- my back is aching. My feet hurt. I can hardly walk. But I have learned to do the cha-cha. What about that?

SMITH: I tell you what. That`s a great thing that you`ve learned to do the cha-cha. It`s just the beginning of where you want to go.

GRACE: Look at you! I`m looking at you right now! I don`t feel like I should be looking at it!

SMITH: Well, Nancy, I...

GRACE: It`s kind of a little nasty!

SMITH: I listen at your show. I listen at what everyone else has said. And I`ve heard you talk about (INAUDIBLE) dancer. My only advice to you is this. You got into the show for a competition, so you must come to realize that`s what you`re in for.

So at the end of the day, your instructor is the champion. Your instructor is the teacher. Although you`re great in your field -- in the legal realm, you`re the best. But in the dancing realm, he`s one of the best. So you must yield to what he has to teach you and be willing to follow. That`s the best thing I can give you.

GRACE: Well, I guess Tristan is loving that. Thanks a lot, Emmitt! Thanks for nothing.

(LAUGHTER)

GRACE: OK. Weigh in, Tristan. Go ahead. I`m ready. I`ve braced myself.

MACMANUS: You know, I think Emmitt is the smartest man I`ve ever heard. Definitely. No, I mean, it`s a big part (ph). We have a mutual respect of each other. And you know, you`re doing very good. You are listening. It`s all just a bit of fun we`re having together, so...

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MACMANUS: Coming from Ireland, the people who are singing on this show and dancing on this show, these are people I`ve only heard of before. They certainly aren`t people that I expected to be in the same room with.

GRACE: He`s swishing me around the ballroom dance floor like (INAUDIBLE)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Which dance are you most looking forward to dancing with Nancy?

MACMANUS: At the moment, it`s just the first one, to be honest with you. I mean...

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: ... until we get there.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I wanted to ask Tristan how he thinks you`re doing on "Dancing With the Stars" and to tell him he`d better take care of you!

MACMANUS: Nancy`s doing great. Nancy`s doing great. I mean, I kind of have to say that at the moment, but at the same time, I believe -- I believe what I`m saying, you know? She`s doing very, very good. She`s very receptive to what I`m trying to teach her.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: Well, it`s almost time to kick off season 13, "Dancing With the Stars." And I`m one of the lucky contestants, and we`ll just see if that luck holds through Monday night.

We are taking your calls with an all-star cast. And let me go now to Tom Bergeron, host of "Dancing With the Stars." Tom, I know that you juggle not only "Dancing With the Stars," but one of my all-time favorite shows is "America`s Funniest Home Videos." I love that show, especially when you do the pet part, when you have animals.

So how do you -- can you tell us tonight -- you`re on the hot seat -- which one is your favorite show?

BERGERON: Well, I -- it`s like your kids, you wouldn`t pick one twin over another. But I will say this, in all honesty, I prefer live television, which "Dancing With the Stars" is. And so if I have my choice between doing a live show and a taped show, the live show is always going to win because you`re out there without a net. It`s all very reactive. It`s much more exciting to...

GRACE: How come you never dance on the show?

BERGERON: I did once in season two because I wanted to go through...

GRACE: Did it have...

BERGERON: ... the emotional experience...

GRACE: ... a sad ending?

BERGERON: Well, not -- sadly, it`s still on YouTube. But it did for me what I wanted it to do, which was to give me the whole sort of down-to- my-nerve-ending experience of the discipline. And I took a quickstep, which I was told was one of the harder ballroom styles to do, as you`ll soon find out. I can`t wait to hear you start whining about the quickstep!

GRACE: Well, I hope I make to it the quickstep. Hey, right now, Brooke Burke is with us...

BERGERON: You will. You will.

GRACE: ... co-host of "Dancing With the Stars," and Brooke was actually the winner of season seven. Brooke, thank you for being with us.

BROOKE BURKE, CO-HOST, WINNER, SEASON 7 (via telephone): Of course. How are you?

GRACE: I`m hanging in there. Feet hurting. Brooke...

BROOKE: I`m so looking forward to seeing your moves.

GRACE: Oh, Lord! What`s your advice to all of us would-be dancers?

BROOKE: Gosh. Be brave. Lay it all on the line. Risk everything. Be scared of everything. Give it all you`ve got. You know, everybody asks me that. I mean, honestly, it was an incredible experience for me. It was terrifying. It was thrilling. It was amazing. You just have to have fun. That`s the most important thing.

GRACE: This is a Latin heel. This is a ballroom. Observe.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GRACE: I know, one, two, three, cha-cha.

MACMANUS: Cha-cha-cha, two, three, cha-cha-cha, two three...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You are going to be a fan favorite. We`re pulling for you on your dancing gig.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: This season of dancing begins -

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The team name we came up with is macgrace. (Inaudible) Cha-cha is the fun one to start with.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: One, two, three cha-cha-cha. Two, three -

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Free style is the last dance that we are going to do. So, that one dance can make-or-break the whole entire competition.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Dancing the jive, Lisa Rinna.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Nothing can compare to dancing.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m like (inaudible)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: New champions of "dancing with the stars" are Hines and Kaye.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They are on the radar.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This cast is, I think, you`ll agree has something for everybody.

NANCY GRACE, HLN HOST: A little competition on the phone. Ricki Lake.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Don`t know whether I`ll win but I`ll believe I can.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Very determined. Competitive on its way, but still fun.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

GRACE: Welcome back. We`re taking your calls. "Dancing with the Stars" season 13 kicks off Monday night. Straight out to special guest Niecy Nash, contestant from "dancing with the stars" season ten, actress and comedian. Niecy, I have to put it out there right now I`m a huge "Reno 911" fan.

NIECY NASH, ACTRESS (via telephone): Thank you. Thank you so much.

GRACE: Huge fan. Hey Niecy, what was the toughest dance you danced on "Dancing with the Stars"?

NASH: All of them. Every last one of them.

GRACE: You`re not helping me, Niecy. You`re not giving me any hope here. Were any of the dancers easier than another dance?

NASH: Well, you know like you I started with the cha-cha and I loved the cha-cha. But when I got to the jive, it`s is fastest dance and it was so fast. That and the quickstep were very, very hard. But let me tell you what you got working for you, are you ready?

GRACE: Yes.

NASH: Here it is girlfriend. You have a great rack and we`re going to want to see it. You got to let that cleavage out. Because you got get set. We know you`re tough but we need to see you turn up the sexy.

GRACE: OK. I`m going to keep that in mind. Thank you, Niecy Nash. OK. So, I already told my dancing partner if I you know hit the deck and fall, he is going to take his shirt off, I don`t really thought of focusing on my chest but, thank you, Niecy Nash. I would keep that in mind.

To Joanna Krupa, semi finalist in season nine, supermodel, TV host, activist. Joanna, thank you for being with us. What was your toughest dance?

JOANNA KRUPA, SUPERMODEL: Hi, Nancy. Thank you for inviting me. My favorite dance? Hello?

GRACE: Yes. What was your favorite?

KRUPA: My favorite dance and the hardest dance I would have to say the futuristic Paso, only because it was my first dance where I saw some true colors coming out of my partner because he`s always very sweet and we joked around laugh. It was the hardiest dance weighs we had to be side-by- side and aligned so if I missed one beat our whole dance would have been a disaster. So, that was most pressure I had in the whole season.

GRACE: OK, No pressure if you miss one beat then you`re off the show. I`ll keep that in mind, too. You know, Joanna, you and Niecy are really helping me out a lot here.

Let`s go the lines. Debbie in Mississippi. Hi Debbie, what`s your question?

DEBBIE, CALLER, MISSISSIPPI: Hi, Nancy. First of all, I just want to say we really love watching "Dancing with the Stars" because we like to see the ones that are not really all professional. And then watch you grow. And I`m really excited to see you do the cha-cha and the jive. I think you`ll do great.

GRACE: Fingers crossed and feel free to vote. Debbie in Mississippi. Out to Stacey in Oklahoma. Hi, Stacey, what`s your question?

STACEY, CALLER, OKLAHOMA: Hi. How are you?

GRACE: Hi, dear. I`m good.

STACEY: Well, first of all, I just wanted to say that I`m a huge fan of your show. I watch you all the time.

GRACE: Thank you.

STACEY: So, I had a question for Kendra as I was looking at your Web site. And so, is it possible for me to ask her a question?

GRACE: Yes. Yes.

STACEY: My question for Kendra would be if she had the chance to do "Dancing with the Stars" all over again, would she and why?

GRACE: Good question. How about it, Kendra?

KENDRA WILKINSON, CONTESTANT, DANCING WITH THE STARS SEASON 12 (via telephone): That`s a hard one. You know, I loved the experience and it`s like high school. You want to kind a leave it alone. You just want to remember it the way it was. And, you know, I had a good time and I don`t think I could do any better or any worse. So, I would just leave it the way it was. And, you know, just leave it. I mean I don`t think I would do it again, no.

GRACE: Why? Because it`s so much hard work?

WILKINSON: No. It`s just because, you know, I had that one great experience and I don`t you know, I just want to leave at any time way it is, you know. I think I had a great time, a great partner and, you know, I gave it all. I did my best and I did what I could. I don`t think I could do any better.

GRACE: You really did.

WILKINSON: It is what it is.

GRACE: You were great. To Drew Lachey, winner of "Dancing with the Stars" season two. Drew, remember you were a member of the band 98 degrees. And in my book that gives you an edge over the competition like Ricki Lake that saying "I can`t dance, I can`t dance". I saw "hair spray," OK? She can dance. And I think you had an edge.

DREW LANCHEY, WINNER, DANCING WITH THE STARS SEASON TWO: You obviously never saw the 98 degrees concert because we were the non-dancing boy band. You know, we left dancing to in sync and back street boys. So, we were the movement challenge boy band. So, it`s like comparing apple to oranges anyway. But I think the one thing that be in music helped me with you can feel the rhythm, the musicality.

And if I can give you one point it`s to embrace the music, feel the music and go with the music. Don`t try fight it or you know go against your instructor. Just feel the music and it will lead you in the right direction.

GRACE: OK. Don`t fight the music. OK. I`m going to remember that. Don`t fight the music. OK. Give me a little dirt on that Lisa Rinna girl, your competition. Is she pushing you down the stairs or anything like that? Because, I think Ricki Lake, I say he tried to push me down the stairs.

(LAUGHTER)

LANCHEY: No, we didn`t have any those, those show girl moments in season two. Because none of us knew what we are getting ourselves into. We all kind a just bonded together and had a great time. It was me, Jerry, Lisa, Stacey, George Hamilton. We just went out and we had a good time. And nobody knew what the show is going to be at that point. So, we just went out. We had fun. Everybody tried to do their best. But when we went back stage everybody was hanging out, bonding with each other. It was really fun, family atmosphere.

GRACE: OK. Lisa Rinna, I have it on good word that you did actually try to sabotage several of the other dancers. Now, how do you defend yourself?

LISA RINNA, SEMI-FINALIST, DANCING WITH THE STARS SEASON TWO: Seriously, I want to know who told you that, that`s what I want to know. Gosh darn it. Well, obviously it didn`t work.

(LAUGHTER)

RINNA: I think I`m the only one here that didn`t win.

GRACE: But you were great. We`re showing clips of you right now and you look absolutely beautiful and fantastic. I don`t know what dance that is. I think Tristan will be mad about it. You could possibly - yes, is that the quickstep, Tristan?

RINNA: What am I doing?

TRISTAN MACMANUS, NANCY`S PARTNER, DANCING WITH THE STARS: I don`t have any visuals at the moment. So I`ll say yes but I don`t know.

GRACE: I actually.

RINNA: What am I wearing?

GRACE: You`re wearing yellow, Lisa, a long yellow dress or part of it anyway.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That`s a quickstep.

RINNA: Yellow.

GRACE: Bergeron has weighed in.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes. Yes.

GRACE: It is the quickstep. OK to Brooke Burke, do you recall dancing the quickstep and what, if anything happened?

BROOKE BURKE, WINNER, DANCING WITH THE STARS SEASON SEVEN (via telephone): Quickstep was actually our first, our second dance in the first week so you`ve got it easy because we had to do two dances our very first week. It was one of my favorites of the season. Just fun and high energy and, you`ve got so much great advice from a lot of different people.

GRACE: Brooke, Lisa Rinna just took her skirt off at the end of the quickstep. Did do you that too?

BURKE: I did not. You know, my partner Derick, was so proper and so much about traditional ballroom there was no stripping down anything.

GRACE: Yes. Lisa Rinna took her skirt off.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I can do something I never knew I could do.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The reason my name came before yours is because I`m in charge this time, not you.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Dance.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You know what? I had a great partner. You know, all the professional dancers are great and you`re in good hands with Tristan.

GRACE: You`re trying to off me in your Vietnamese Walsh. What`s that all about? You`re always telling me, who`s the boss?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I too am playing for charity.

GRACE: Oh, yes you keep saying that.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.

GRACE: In the words of Shakespeare as in William, "Me think you doth protest too much."

(END VIDEOTAPE)

GRACE: We`re taking your calls live to Tom Bergeron. I understand you have a comment.

TOM BERGERON, HOST, DANCING WITH THE STARS: Well, I`m just, I`m just listening. I`m observing. And I have an observation. I`m concerned now, this may be the most litigious season of "Dancing with the Stars" we ever have. You accused Ricki Lake of almost pushing you down the stairs. You accused Lisa Rinna of trying to sabotage people during her season. I`m getting a sense here Nancy, your fall back position is a lawsuit.

GRACE: Fall back. Please don`t say the words fall or back when we`re talking about me competing on "Dancing with the Stars", Tom. Please stop. OK, I have some more advice from Kendra Wilkinson, contestant season 12. What`s your advice?

WILKINSON: Spray tan. The best thing to do.

GRACE: You must have just seen me in that chest that leaves not a lot to the imagination. Yes, everybody keeps talking about spray tan. Don`t worry I`ll be as orange as everybody else out there.

WILKINSON: Yes.

GRACE: Thank you for the spray tan advice. To Kristi Yamaguchi, winner of season six, Olympic gold medalist. So Kristi now when people see you on the street do they come up and ask you about the Olympics or do they ask you about "Dancing with the Stars"?

KRISTI YAMAGUCHI, WINNER, DANCING WITH THE STARS SEASON SIX: Yes. It`s pretty fun. They do recognize me from "dancing with the stars" more, especially the younger generation, and it`s funny because yes, they definitely want to hear about the trophy or "Dancing with the Stars" much more than skating. But I`m fine with it. Again, I had a positive and adventurous time on the show. I loved doing it like everyone else who you are talking to. So I enjoyed doing it.

GRACE: You know what, Kristi? You`re so modest. You`re not only the winner of "Dancing with the Stars", you`re an Olympic gold medalist. Do you ever just sit back and take that in?

YAMAGUCHI: Yes, I don`t know. I keep myself busy. You know, I got two young daughters, and, you know, being a mom is a priority now. And I think being a mom, as you know, is very humbling. And has it has own challenges. So, you know, I just try to enjoy life and, you know, take everything as it comes.

GRACE: Man, you`re a real hero to so many young girls across the country. You don`t know. I`m going to go back to Lisa Rinna, her lawyers are on the phone now insisting that I retract my allegation that she sabotaged some of her competition on "Dancing with the Stars". Look, you know what? Once I saw you tear that skirt off, you don`t need to sabotage anybody. All right. I think that`s just, it just says it all. It says it all. So, are you advising me to yank my skirt off?

RINNA: Nancy, I`m advising you to do whatever it takes. Now listen, you know how to fight. You have twins. I mean if you can raise twins, girl you can go out there and do anything on that dance floor. I`m telling you. You should do whatever it takes and you know it.

GRACE: You know Lisa I have never yet to this day won an argument with the twins, not once and it goes like this.

RINNA: Not one?

GRACE: Mommy can we x and I always go yes. Or if I say no, they are only three and they know how to start bargaining with me. They are only three. They always win every argument.

RINNA: So Nancy, we have to work on that.

GRACE: Let`s go out to the lines. Angela in Florida. Hi, Angela, what`s your question?

ANGELA, CALLER, FLORIDA: Hey, Nancy. I just want to say, I`m so excited you`re on "Dancing with the Stars". I`ve never watched and will totally be watching this season just for you. My question was for Kendra. I was wondering what her advice is as towards juggling a husband, a career, are children and also, I was wondering if you were excited about, you know, a lot of people seem to lose a lot of weight on this show and get a lot healthier.

GRACE: I definitely have lost weight because I`m too tired to eat. And if I say much more, Bergeron is going to really ring me out for whining. But a lot of time I`m really too tired to eat anything. So, you know when I watched Kristi Alley you know it just change so much over the season. You know what? Tom, she was great, wasn`t she?

BERGERON: Yes. Kristi was wonderful and so I to it. And that`s the thing, I have to say, I`m teasing you a bit about the whining but one of the things that I noted from you and the others this season, everybody seems like they are already to bring their A-game. That they are into it. You`ve all committed to it. And I`m looking forward. And by the way, we`re going premier on Monday night on our brand new set so you`re going to have the best looking ballroom, Nancy, to dance in that we`ve ever had.

GRACE: OK. So no pressure. Thanks. Everybody, we are taking your calls.

BERGERON: You`re making a negative.

GRACE: I`m nervous, for Pete`s sake. I`m nervous. I`m nervous. You know, I`m so worried about the third step that I keep hearing about from Tristan Macmanus. OK. Tristan, we all know that you dropped out of dancing for a period of time. For several years, as a matter of fact. Why? And why did you come back to dancing?

MACMANUS: Initially I think the reason I left, I was going through that age, I suppose where everyone does and they just want to do what they want to, really, you know. I was getting sick of doing competitions and putting fake tan on and brushing me hair a certain way and wearing a tux. It wasn`t something I was at home with.

GRACE: So you really landed in the right spot. You don`t want a spray tan, you don`t want gel in your hair and you don`t want competition. Guess what you got all three starting Monday night. Everybody, Tristan Macmanus with me.

And right now CNN heroes.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

GINA KEATLEY, CNN HEROES: I grew up in very low-income areas. I experience ad lot of poverty, homelessness as a child as well. But it taught me to redefine myself and not let your past determine your future.

When I moved to New York to school I was living in East Harlem and there are very few places to buy fruits and vegetables and healthy foods. It`s the most diabetic and obese, as all the neighborhood, live in Manhattan. People were super malnourished. I saw the connection between poverty and obesity. And it just seemed unjust. And I had to do something about it. My name is Gina Keatley, and I`m giving nourishment to people who are literally dying for it.

Change is possible. If you want somebody to try a tomato, give them a tomato.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I have raw carrots.

KEATLEY: We are an inspiration. They have to feel it, touch it, sees it. Because people won`t change unless something in them changes.

We go places other people will not go. Giving out produce. We`re doing classes. You really can eat healthy on a low budget.

KEATLEY: What are these?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Grapes.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What`s this?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Chicken.

KEATLEY: We want them to start early on. So, it can start a ripple effect for the rest of their life. Say, tortilla.

KIDS: Tortilla!

KEATLEY: Good, all right.

At the end of the day the parents are the one doing the shopping. We have to win them over as well.

Thank you, guys. Thanks for coming.

When I see an in-need child it reminds me something that I didn`t have, and I want them to succeed. It`s about holding yourself up, and never accepting no. And I can see it in people`s faces. I think that people are getting it.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

GRACE: I want to thank all of you for all the love, the phone calls, the e-mails, the letters, the kind words. Its season 13, "dancing with the stars."

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

MACMANUS: There`s so many elements that go into a good performance on "dancing with the stars."

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I had so much fun out there.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I need you to teach me how to do that.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: All right.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Their trade mark, technical precision.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: 10!

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Our job is to be consistent.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hines and Kim!

GRACE: Trying to teach how to do the cha-cha.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: two, three, cha-cha-cha.

GRACE: Watch out, max.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A certain kind of excitement that`s going around and that`s great to play off.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Drew and I won that trophy last season.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Can`t touch this.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You need more drama, Mama. This is the Passa Doble.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You are a revelation. You`ve come back.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You want to get the crowd going don`t ask them, demand it.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

GRACE: I must stay vertical and not horizontal. That`s my big goal for the first night.
